The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Deciding to take a stroll on her own Syn wandered the main streets. She wore a black long sleeved shirt with a silouette of an impaled angel and the words 'Heaven's A Lie' beneath it. Black baggy cargo pant with red and black plaid pockets and black boots finished off her outfit.
Syn past by shops and people as she walked. Lots of glances and stares were directed at her. The girl's response was a brief wicked smile. Like a pearly white gate holding back the darkness within.

Iris very rarely went out at night, simply because she'd grown used to rising, and likewise retiring, early. But thanks to several people, she'd started exploring outside of her 'comfort zone'. She decided to include Times Square at night in those explorations. She still had that 'tourist' mentality, and no doubt it showed with her neck tilted back to take in the sights.
She wore a long-sleeved shirt and jeans against the fall chill, which she found comforting, and leaned against the nearest building to watch the flashing lights above. Eventually she turned her attention from the lights to the people walking by, another passtime she enjoyed.
Until she saw a familiar face making its way through the crown. Iris immediately felt her blood chill when she saw Syn smiling. By that time, there was no way she could avoid being seen, even with the crowd.
She felt her back begin to burn in response the unwanted adrenaline dumped into her nervous system. Immediately she closed her eyes and tried to summon Garrett's meditation lessons to mind.
A rather childish though also floated randomly though her mind.
<"Maybe she won't notice me if I keep my eyes closed.....">
The walk was relatively boring. All the people were the same no matter how they dressed. They were all sheep trying to hide behind fake masks. Some tried to appear intimidating while others either looked away or tried to seem as if they really cared. All of it sickened Syn and was part of the reason she hates humans.
The night was looking like a waste until something caught the girl's eye. It was one of those things that once one interacts with you never forget. This something just happened to be another female. A female Syn had interacted with quite intensely. Iris This was a turn of events. Perhaps the night wasn't going to be so bleak afterall.
Syn approached the other girl who had shut her eyes. "Just because your eyes are closed doesn't mean I can't see you Iris." Syn smiled at the child like act. "How have you been my dear. To be honest I didn't think I was going to see you again."

"It was worth a shot," Iris grumbled under her breath. She kept her eyes closed.
Find someplace safe and free of worry. <"Any where but here would work,"> she thought to herself.
"How have you been my dear. To be honest I didn't think I was going to see you again."
"I've been better. And yeah, I'm disappointed, too." Sarcasm aside, Iris's heart currently resided in her throat. She attempted to imagine somewhere remote, away from people, and away from the woman standing next to her. How about a deserted island? Or Antarctica. Better yet, Syn in Antarctica. With her feet frozen in the ice, and a hungry polar bear approaching.
The tone in Iris's voice was very apparent to Syn. You can't try to fool someone who takes pride in reading others reactions. The fact that Iris even responded was a bit of a shock all in its self. However, the sarcams only made Syn push further. "I'm sorry to hear you haven't been doing well. How was your visit with your friends at the mansion? I'm sure they were delighted to see you."

"I'm sorry to hear you haven't been doing well."
"How thoughtful," Iris mutteed under her breath.
"How was your visit with your friends at the mansion? I'm sure they were delighted to see you."
"As a matter of fact, they were," she replied a tad smugly. Syn hadn't been specific, and the last time she'd visited the Mansion, Iris's friends had been glad to see her.
She didn't say anything else, not wanting to give the woman any form of ammunition to work with. She hoped.
"That's good news. I'm glad your friends were happy to see you." Syn knew Iris wasn't talking about the same time frame as herself. She decided to let Iris think she was being witty for the moment.
Turning slightly and looking out at some of the people passing by Syn thought of a question. She wanted to see just where Iris stood on a specific topic. "So what do you think of the humans after they imprisoned so many mutants? I know they captured many of your friends. I'm also sure bad things happened."

"So...."
Iris clenched her teeth a bit harder. The woman wasn't going away. Great.
".....what do you think of the humans after they imprisoned so many mutants? I know they captured many of your friends. I'm also sure bad things happened."
"I think the people responsible for Registration were as stupid and prejudiced as you are."
Oops.... that wasn't supposed to be said aloud....
Iris swallowed, and took a deep breath. She opened her eyes, but kept them firmly on the people walking by, rather than on Syn.
She's become a much bolder woman since the last time noted Syn. She liked this new Iris. She was much more fun than the timid creature Syn had seen before. This was turning out to be a nice little chat.
The response Iris gave made Syn smile. The woman was trying to get into Syn's head but that was going to be a tough battle. "So you think I'm stupid? That's very childish of you. I'm only trying to help our kind to rise above the humans and their closed minds. You know as well as I do that they would drive us to exctinction as they've done to so many other creatures of this world. I just have the will and determination to fight back and show them that we're not so easily pushed over and stepped on."
Syn continued to watch the humans pass by, but she made sure to keep Iris well in view as well. "I'm happy to know we agree on one thing though. The humans were stupid to put the Registration Act into affect." She waited to see how Iris would react to the statement. She figured Iris would be revolted at the thought of agreeing on anything with Syn.

"So you think I'm stupid? That's very childish of you."
Iris practically felt the hair on the back of her neck bristle.
"I'm only trying to help our kind to rise above the humans and their closed minds. You know as well as I do that they would drive us to exctinction as they've done to so many other creatures of this world. I just have the will and determination to fight back and show them that we're not so easily pushed over and stepped on."
She snorted to herself, putting extreme effort into not rolling her eyes.
"I'm happy to know we agree on one thing though. The humans were stupid to put the Registration Act into affect."
It rankled deeply to admit the trueness of that statement, not to mention that they agreed on something. So rather then dwell on it, she went back to Syn's first remark.
"Closed minds? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You can talk a good game, Syn. And I don't know what trick you use to convince others of it, too. But bottom line?" Iris pushed away from the wall, and spared a narrow-eyed glare at the woman.
"You're no better than the fools who started Registration."
Heart pounding, she turned to walk away. It was probably a stupid move, but she turned down a darker alley, in an effort to get away from the crowds on the street, hopefully before the girl could pull whatever mind-game she'd used on Iris before.
After a meager verbal retaliation Iris tried walking off. It wasn't upsetting to Syn as the girl followed only a few steps behind. In fact it was rather amusing that Iris would go down a dark alley knowing Syn was nearby and may be following.
Deciding to make sure Iris knew she wasn't getting away so easily Syn spoke up. "Trust me Iris, you don't want to know what I'm fully capable of doing. Now, as for comparing me to being the same as the humans...you've gotta be joking. Their little Registration Act pales in comparison to what I can do. They are weak and need to be swept off the face of the planet." Syn's tone became gravely serious. "I doubt even your friends the X-Men will be able to fathom the thought of a planet free of humans. You and all those in the mansion are pathetic."

"Trust me Iris, you don't want to know what I'm fully capable of doing."
"That makes two things we agree on, then," Iris snipped. Hoping Syn would vanish had been wishful thinking, but at least now they were away from people. She still kept her distance from the younger woman, and avoided eye contact.
"Now, as for comparing me to being the same as the humans...you've gotta be joking. Their little Registration Act pales in comparison to what I can do. They are weak and need to be swept off the face of the planet."
That statement sent a chill down her spine.
"I doubt even your friends the X-Men will be able to fathom the thought of a planet free of humans. You and all those in the mansion are pathetic."
"Who would want to?" Iris couldn't imagine a world without her Tia and Tio. She didn't even want to consider it. "And yes, you are the same. They want to kill you off, you want to kill them off. The world would be better off if you all just picked an island and fought among yourselves. Then we'd be rid of all of you!"
Adrenaline raced through her system, feeding the heat in her back. Iris stopped at the edge of the alley, and closed her eyes. She had to calm down. Syn was baiting her, she knew, and Iris was falling for it. She had to keep herself rational. She was stronger now, physically and mentally. She had to stay focused.
"If not wanting to kill someone because they are blind makes me pathetic, then I can live with that. In the end, all they can hurt is themselves."
By Iris agreeing on not wanting to test Syn it made Syn feel more powerful. It was always fun intimidating people, and it was even better when they backed down. Yeah, maybe Syn had a bit of a complex but she didn't care. She was good at playing her mental games even without the aid of her power.
The next statment that Iris spewed out had a hint of aggression. Her tone was changing from when they first started talking. "I have a few things to point to you with what you just said. First, there may be some humans who wish us all dead, but the majority would've been happy with all of us locked up in camps. Second, I AM different in that I [/i]do[/i] want all the humans wiped from existence."
The last point Syn was about to divulge she wanted to make sure it sank into Iris's head. "My last point is that you just added yourself into being just like the humans and myself. You said it yourself. You wish you could be rid of us all. Now you're no better then the humans or myself. It seems to me you have a darker heart than you lead on. Perhaps you're not the good girl you try to mask yourself as."
Syn watched Iris carefully as she gauged the woman's reactions. It was quite surprising to see hwo much Iris had changed from the last time Syn had seen the girl. She was more outspoken and less affraid. Yet there was something dwelling beneath the surface and Syn wanted to let it out.

Iris shook her head as the red-and-black haired manipulator twisted her words completely around.
"Heh. You're good, Syn. I'll give you that. That tongue of yours is a deadly weapon in its own right." No hint of compliment entered her tone in that statement.
"I'm not going to argue with you. You'll just twist whatever I say. I'm not perfect. I never claimed to be. Maybe I do have a darker side. Everyone probably does. But it has nothing to do with my heart."
She opened her eyes a slit, still focused on the ground, and backed away a couple more steps.
"Keep your warped plans to yourself. I'm not going to let you pull me into them again."
"So there is a spark of fight in you afterall. You're much more fun than the last time. I'm affraid I have some bad news for you though. Whether you want to be pulled into my plans or not you don't have a choice. No one on the entire planet will have a choice to decide to be part of my plans or not."
Syn leaned against the side of one of the buildings in the alley. She had a look of someone who had already accomplished something great. In Syn's mind that's exactly how she felt. What she had planned was something that would be part of history all over the world.
