The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Another day and another night in the mental institution that goes by the name of : Maxwell's institution for the mentaly unstable. Cailyn was curled up sitting on the floor of her room. The room was soft, ow so soft. She was working on her daily sudoku puzzle though it wasn't to much fun for her. "5 goes there, 7 there, 3 there, 9 there , count the row and 2 there." Went the whispers in her head. Cailyn didn't want to go mad by the whispers so she tried to keep herself sain, or atleast as much as possible by doing stuff.
The guards watched her day and night with helmets on to keep her out of their minds. After she finished her sudoku she started working on her second best hobby of all: Watching guards. With nothing else to do she had her eyes latched on the guards. Her eyes looked empty and hollow as she watched them but she smiled with a honest smile. The voices talked to her. feeding her little parts of info about the guards and everybody else in the area. She smilled at hearing some of the facts and fictions they told her.
She continued this for hours and hours and hours. She coulnd't sleep at all at this place and it could be seen in her face. She used her pencil to draw doodles on the back of her puzzle, while humming a song and sometimes she laughed shortly about the stories she heard. Being in a mental institution she heard the weirdest and funniest things but that didn't take out that she was lonely, ow so lonely. Her father hasn't visited her in days, maybe weeks. Being here made her lose any sense of times and days. "What are you looking at" said the guard after a while. Cailyn curled up all afraid and put her head between her knees. "Nothing mister president" she replied. She didn't know why she called him president but somehow it made sense and it even seemed to freak out the guard. The whispers grew larger and larger with more and more info coming into her mind. She wished she had her mask to hide from the voices and she tiped herself over to lay on the floor. She let lose a tear of fear and lonelyness hoping somebody would show up and have fun with her. "Time to go beddy bye bye" She thought to herself and she closed her eyes.
(Sorry for all the bug shifting. It’s mostly to describe how pix gets there.)
There was something that always made pix come back to the asylum. It was a he, and he was her brother. It wasn’t really that he had brotherly love for her, so much as she had sisterly, I love picking on big brother, love.
There were problems with visiting her brother though. She got lost, but in getting lost Petunia got to meet some interesting people. Ventilation shafts really should have maps like the malls do. Then again, there weren’t a lot of people that could turn into insects to fit inside ventilation shafts. So maybe the ventilation shaft map idea would never really happen, but one could still keep her fingers crossed. Well. Ok so Petunia didn’t have fingers when she was a bug but what ever they had that they could cross she could too.
At the moment, Petunia was a dragon fly. Best bug choice for navigating vents as her flat body could slip between thin areas and she could hover perfectly without bumping into the walls. The room up a head was interesting. She landed on the mesh screen and peered inside. It had guards. Ohhh Cool! Guards! Most of the rooms didn’t have guards. This person must be special. Pix’s body shifted to a flea so she could hop through the vent, and then she was a large preying mantis. Her body help up right, supported on four legs, and her front claw like arms folded neatly under her preying mantis chin.
Petunia darted across the floor on the four mantis legs. Closer to the patient, to the middle of the room. Then she came to a stop like all cute little bug girls pretending they are bugs do. Holding perfectly still like a little green statue, her head tilted one way, then the other.
"something is coming, something is coming, Something is coming !" The whispers said to Cailyn. She quickly opened her eyes to see a little bug in front of her. It scared the living soul out of her as she jumped up and shot a bit backwards. When she calmed down she looked at the bug and realized it wasn't a bug at all. "Secrets , secrets? " She thought to herself.
When she realized somethings about bugs that they weren't allowed inside her room, if it even was a bug at all. She came closer and closer looking straight in the bugs eyes with her hollow, empty eyes. She lifted a finger and waved it around. "You have been very naughty little missy, you aren't allowed her." She whispered to the mantis. She put her finger over the head of the mantis and extreemly softly patting it, trying not to hurt her. After that she sat down normaly and looked at the guards some more while tilting her head sideways. The guards just looked at her like she was another crazy person with lonelyness issue's. "I'm not crazy " She tried to put that thought into their minds but failed because they where protected. "Atleast i got a friendsy to play with now." She thought. That particulair thought made her smile a honest smile as she turned back to the mantis. "We are going to have loads of fun they say." she whispered to the mantis and she softly started rocking her body back and forth. "Did you bring toys?" she asked. "What kind of a silly question is that." a whisper said. Cailyn found that rather hars and turned her head to he shoulder and whispered back with a spot of sadness in her voice: "I like toys."
The girl screamed and the preying mantis just stood there in the middle of the room. Her head tilted the other way and her little mouth moved. Enjoying the first reaction, and then perplexed by the next.
"Secrets , secrets? "
Yes secrets. Lots of secrets. Secrets that love to be known and get so little of what they love. Exactly why there was a preying mantis standing in a mental institute’s cell staring at a mental patient. Because there was a secret there, obviously because there were guards keeping watch. Unless they were just treating this patient special for some reason, because it was un fair that she had guards to keep her company and Pix’ brother had none.
The girl then was closer to pix, and closer to her level, though preying mantises were still small, so Pix still had to lean her head back to look up at the girls face. And she still managed to get a good view up the girl’s nose. The girl waved a finger over her, and pix stretched out her little buggy arm waving back imitating the scolding motion as best she could.
Then came the pet. … … … Petunia was getting pet and Pix didn’t like it. As soft as it was, human hands were heavy and Petunia’s head bobbed with the motion… ok that was interesting…
"I'm not crazy "
Of course not, Petunia petted bugs all of the time because pix knew they hated it.
"Atleast i got a friendsy to play with now."
Play? She wants to play? What game would she play with a mantis?
"We are going to have loads of fun they say."
Petunia’s little mantis head shifted and tilted like a little mantis nod. I like fun. Pix thought.
"Did you bring toys? What kind of a silly question is that."
That was a dam good question because preying mantises could have toys if they wanted to have them. And pix liked toys.
“I like toys."
Petunia waved her little preying mantis arms back and forth in the air, “Hold on one minute.” She said out loud as she hopped and a soft buzz cam from her wings as she moved across the room. “Of course I have toys. I jut have to make them.” This girl wanted a play mate, and Pix wasn’t going to waist this opportunity. “I’ll be right back.” She hit the wall near the door as one of the guards swung his foot at her, to smoosh her, and disappeared out the door.
And woosh, her new friend left her to get toys. "Bye bye, hope to see you soon." She said after her new friend left. The guard looked at her with an even stranger look then normal. Cailyn smiled at the guard with a honest and cute smile while rocking her body back and forth. "My birthday came early this year." She said to the guard though her birthday hadn't been celebrated in over 6 years. She started humming her tune again and that upset the guard. "Stop doing that" He yelled and he raised his hand in a intimidating way.
This happened before and the result was the same. Cailyn was afraid of physical voilence. She could win anything aslong as it was mental but physical is her weakest link to the world. She quickly got to her hands and knees and crawled to the corner of the room. She curled up into a defensive position and put her hands over her face. "Noo, i don't want ouch, i'll be a good girl." she screamed of the top of her lungs. The guard was content with what she did and he walked out the room again. as he had her back towards Cailyn she stuck out her tongue. "Silly mister president." She thought.
During this entire scene the whispers in her head went beserk feeding her all kinds of information to overcome him and do him the harm he was about to do to her. "Kill him, kick him, maim him, show him what your pain is like!" where the loadest whispers she could hear. She shrugged them of and softly said while she was sitting in the corner: "Daddy said i should be a good girl." And another tear rolled out of her eyes.
The preying mantis turned around as the on guard started making threatening gestures to her new friend. No one… If preying mantises could growl, this one would. The guard needed to learn how to treat a lady. Petunia had experience in teaching such things, and those that didn’t learn quickly enough, tasted really good.
First thing was first, Petunia needed to get big, and she needed a mask. Oh yeah. Ad cloths wouldn’t be a bad idea. The four little legs halted in the middle of a hall, and she took a right, scurrying across the tile floor, headed for the closest closet she could remember. Pix stopped outside the door. The flesh under her belly wiggled, till it formed a lump and crawled up to where her preying mantis waist was, A house fly wiggled free from the mantis skin, and darted into the closet. Petunia’s way for checking for cats. For some reason cat’s don’t just like rats, they like bugs and that fact lead to some ugly situations. The fly flew back, and the cost was clear, so the fly was snatched out of the air, and became lunch. Petunia scurried into the closet with her snack.
About thirty seconds passed before petunia reemerged. This time having to push the closet door open because of her size. She stood about 4 feet tall, now, with her black hair draped over her shoulders, and hanging down her back. There was a mask over her face, made from different moth and looking like one of those elaborate feather masks people wear to masquerade balls, and a straight jacket, so long that the hem hung past her knees. Petunia liked playing dress up here. There was just something special about the straight jackets. When they were all strapped up one was forced to hug themselves. That alone had to provide lots of mental stimulation. Everyone should have a hug-me jacket. Though Petunia didn’t have any of the straps tied. You needed a second person to tie the straps and make you show your self some hugging love. So petunia just let the sleeves and straps dangle, and drag, on the ground.
Now. Back to the room. As petunia walked she began gathering her insect forces. There was a light buzz that emitted from under her long hair, as she walked, and she gathered bees. The first string of bees were going to be honey bees. Just a few to get the guards’ attention. She’d see how persuasive she had to get from there.
“Hey Booooyyys” Petunia said rounding the corner, in her new mask and hug-me jacket. They turned to look and Petunia kissed her palm. Blowing them each a kiss. With each kiss a single bee came out of her mouth, and shot straight for the guards. Scurrying under their collars and stinging each guard on the neck. “I think we need to talk about how you treat a lady.”
The girl with the jacket just screamed HUG ME to Cailyn's mind. The dangling sleaves looked very funny to her and the mask must be itchy. She gniffled at the sight of her. Especialy when she did stuff to the guards. As the bee's where shot and took down the 2 guards she clapped excitingly as a little kid. The two guards fell down by trying to get the bee's out of their shirts.
As the guards where crawling on the floor, Cailyn's whispers went beserk again. "This is it, do it now!" said most of them. She couldn't help it but to obay. She hoped on one of the guards and unbuckled his helmet. She was humming her soft tune as it started to play it's real tune through the room. The gaurd looked at her since he had no other choice since his protection was off. She cracked her hands like a pianist and placed them on the guards neck with her fingers extending behind his ears. "Now mister president." She said with a happy voice. "let's show you how naughty you have been." She continued as her eyes went hollow and empty. She stared into the guards eyes and whispered: "Blackout" to him. She stepped of the guard and said to the hug me girl: "I've been a bad girl." with a trembling lower lip.
The guard on the other hand was screaming as hard as he could. Cailyn made him see only the pain he has caused to her, and that was allot. The whispers congratulated her for her actions but Cailyn was on the verge of crying. "What would daddy say about this" Said a whisper to her. She turned her head to her shoulder again and whispered :"Please don't tell daddy."
Petunia smirked as the men pulled off their helmets and the girl came out to play. And play she was. The second guard took a step towards her as she was doing… what ever she was doing that that guy that was making him scream so much. “Ah- ah-ah.” Petunia shook her head and intercepted. Stepping between them. This guard might not of been the one to threaten her new friend, but he was guilty by proxy.
Petunia extended a finger, under the straight jacket sleave, to point at the man’s face and a bee followed her finger, Hovering an inch away from the guard’s eye and making him go cross eyed. Every time he moved, the bee followed. “If you so much as breath the wrong way, I’ll take away your sight.” She informed the guard.
"I've been a bad girl."
“Isn’t it fun?”
"Please don't tell daddy."
Petunia tilted her head at the other girl. Still holding the other guard at bay. “Why does he have to know?” Petunia asked. “Does he know what they do to you?”
“Why does he have to know?” Petunia asked. “Does he know what they do to you?”
Cailyn paniced, allot now. What has she been doing. She put her hands to her head as she fell down on her knees. She rubbed her her hands through her hair making it more unkept then ever. She looked at the floor with panic on her face and said: "He knows, he know , he knows it all, he will punish me , i've been bad." She got so paniced that she could scream.
She started breathing heavy under the pressure of her fear. Her father was also mentaly gifted and could punish her on every aspect she had. "I wan't my mask, i don't want him to find me, i'm scared." The whispers in her head fed of the panic and gave her all kind of option, feeding them to her. "Lie, run, fight, flee, kill, hide." said the whispers in a non specifik order. "I don't want this anymore" she continued speaking as her fingers tensed up as if she was trying to drill holes in her head using her fingers. Her tears dropped on the floor as she started to cry. All these emotion so quickly stacked up got to her and now she was letting them all go. While she was crying the whispers faded leaving her alone. Now she was totally helpless without any means of knowing what to do she whispers to herself with a sad voice : "Traitors"
Petunia turned around, while the bee stayed in place. Being joined by several more, that hovered in the guard’s face. Threatening him if he should make a wrong move. Once out of reach, if they stung him, they would leave pheromones that would tell the rest of her bees to sting him as well. Not a fun way to die.
"I wan't my mask, i don't want him to find me, i'm scared."
Petunia put a hand over her. Though the sleeve of the straight jacket was covering her hand. “Where is your mask?” She asked. Not really sure what to do yet.
"I don't want this anymore"
Petunia’s head tilted the other way. She picked up one of the guard’s masks and offered it to the girl. It was the guard’s mask, but would it do? It obviously made a difference with her power effecting them. “Here.”
"Traitors"
“Huhh?” Petunia tilted her head. Mean while the guard was still screaming and that was bound to attract some un wanted attention.
Her panic attack lasted pretty long. Atleast the silence was good and being able to hear normal voices was a bonus. Though she was crying really bad now over the fact that her father would find her if she didn't find a way to shield herself.
Petunia’s head tilted the other way. She picked up one of the guard’s masks and offered it to the girl. It was the guard’s mask, but would it do? It obviously made a difference with her power effecting them. “Here.”
She looked at the gesture of her while she was a bit more calmed down. "Their faces aren't solid." She said. It made sense to her saying that when she was panicing. She fell over and landed on her hand putting her on hands and knees. She slowy crawled forwards repeating the same words over and over again. "Daddy' locker uniform, build the wall." This made sense to her as it was the location of her mask that was used to keep powers like hers out of her mind but had the flaw of dampening her powers too. The whispers slowy returned to her and started whispering to her again. This made a bit more optimistic and even gave a little smile of desperation. She didn't feel alone anymore, though technicly she wasn't.
The guard that was still screaming was anoying according her whispers. "Put him out." The whispers said to her "Put him out." Her eyes became hollow and empty as she entered a state of trance. She stood up straight and started floating a few cm above the ground with her hand twitching into weird and uncomfortable positions. She turned her head the the guard that screamed and whispered: "It's beddy bye bye time , mister president." And then the room was silent and only her Hymn was heard by everybody in the area. The guard was going into cardiac arrest and was unable to do anything.
Petunia patted the girl. Holding up the mask from the guard but it seemed that wasn’t something that could help her.
"Daddy' locker uniform, build the wall."
Petunia’s brow furrowed. “ok so is this something you need? Where would it be?” Petunia blinked.
The man on the floor stopped screaming and the other security guard moved. Trying to help his buddy, but his movement triggered the attack of Petunia’s little friends. He yelped when her first bee got his eye, then followed by the others. He went down, trying to cover his face, as Petunia’s friends got him.
Cailyn didn't like bugs. But the bugs helped her as the guard was taken down. Cailyn was released from her trance and she landed softly on the ground. She was over the whole panic thing as she knew what she needed to do to get out of trouble. She walked out the door and said: "I can show you." and nodded a few times.
She knew the place pretty wel seeing as she was taken out once a week or so to a special room to practice with her father. Most of the people that where in this place only gotten worse because of what she and her father did there. The whispers told her the way to the locker room. "Left, right, go straight, right and a left." Said the whispers. she entered the room with 3 lockers in it and a bench. Some racks with confiscated clothings stood against the other side of the wall. She walked towards the 3rd locker with the knowledge that what she seeked should be there. She looked through the bars in the door at her mask. Her mask was a special modificated gas mask that kept mind readers and other psychics out of people's mind, a wall sort of speak. She tried to open the locker but failed, it was locked. She started walking back and fort trying to figure out what to do next.
Petunia followed. She had been around the asylum off and on, with her brother. He was on a completely different floor, but many of the lay outs were the same and this floor seemed to be similar in layout to the rest. Plus Petunia got lost on her visits to her brother, and getting lost generally makes you find places most don’t. Thus why she suddenly had a new guarded friend.
Petunia followed this new girl till they reached a locker room that she didn’t remember being quite the same on other floors. And there was a locked door that the other girl didn’t seem to be having any luck with…
Locks don’t work around me. Petunia thought as she knocked on the locker. Pressing her right ear against the seem where the door met the frame. Her palms thn pressed against the door as well as her body shrank. Her legs seemed to wilt as they disappeared under the make shift hug me dress and her eyes grew as big as her head, the smaller she got, till she was a tick, and the straight jacket fell away to the ground. Petunia scurried up the locker, inside the vent where she disappeared. Once inside, she divided her body into more little friends. Changing herself into the preying mantis again for more skin surface to create her friends. A full thirty seconds went by before there was a click inside the locker, and the door swung open. Petunia as her preying mantis, tilting her head at the other girl and a small army of other insects where the lock was on the inside.
The door opened without she ever touching it again. It was the lucky charm of the hug me girl. She was so... hug-able to her right now. Cailyn opened the locker door to look at the leather containment suit and the mask she was so desperatly to aquire. She looked at the mask for a while with big eyes of happyness. "daddy won't find out." She said out loud as she put her hands on the mask.
As she lifted the mask out of the locker she became more happy. "It was finnaly time for some alone time." She thought to herself. She lifted the mask out of the locker and looked at it. It was the first time she had to put it on herself. She flipped the mask and saw the back of it. She started humming again while she found out how the mask was put on. As she figured it out she started talking to herself in the format of a song. "bye bye, mister whisper see you again soon , hope daddy doesn't find you first or i'm all alone." She sang softly as she put the mask on. Her breathing became heavy because of the gasmask sound but the silence in her head was all she wanted for now.
