The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee blinked when Sam laughed about her comment about Haywire. But then he spoke, saying that what he was feeling now was nothing like how it'd been before.
That froze Lee for a moment. Sam had had Haywire before? Lee was terrified of the possibility, but Sam had already had it before, and was now able to talk about it this calmly?
Because of her own worries about the virus, Lee had a hard time understanding how Sam could talk about it like he was. And it also took her longer to realize why; his powers weren't exactly as life threatening if they went haywire.
But he didn't think it was Haywire. That relieved a touch of Lee's worry, but not nearly enough to stop the panic from silently spiralling around in her as she turned to the sink to wet some towels under the cold water.
Wringing them out so they weren't dripping wet, Lee turned back to Sam, to see him laying on the bed, his eyes closed. She only paused for a moment before quickly closing the distance, laying the water cooled cloths on Sam, on his forehead, one tucked behind his neck, another spread over his chest.
Lee was just about to turn to go looking for DocProf when she heard Sam's voice asking just that question. "Probably sleeping," Lee replied softly. "It is the middle of the night. I'll go find him."
Taking another couple seconds to make sure that the cloths were covering Sam as best as she could manage, Lee turned and made her way toward the back of the infirmary. Grabbing a mask as she passed another bed, Lee slipped it on as she made her way through the door at the back; she'd been there enough over the last couple months that Lee easily knew her way around the infirmary.
Ten minutes later, Lee walked back into the main room of the infirmary behind the DocProf, the face mask still securely in place. "He's right up there in the front," Lee told the older man as they walked between the beds.

The cool cloths felt great on his skin as he lied down. Sam felt like he was about to sleep but just as he was drifting to dream land Lee walked in with DocProf.
"He's right up there in the front,"
Sam raised his head and the rest of his body followed to he was up sitting looking at the Doc and Lee. Sam noticed Lee had a facemask on and it was creeping him out. “Lee you’re starting to scar me with that face mask.” Sam started to cough a little bit and noticed that the Doc was moving closer and placed a hand on Sam’s back. “Hey Doc, sorry to wake you.” Sam wiped a little sweat that was dripping to close to his eyes as the Doc backed up and pulled out a thermometer.
Sam welcomed the device under his tongue he used it before, regardless how cold he was it still registered on this machine so it shouldn’t have a problem registering his body heat now. Doc let out a small gasp as he read the number that came from the machine, “Well son… according to this your body temperature is well over 200 degrees, which is a miracle your still moving around, it probably has something to do with your mutation, my guess.”
Sam looked to the Doc as he spoke then let out a small laugh, “Wow that’s weird, but my powers is cold not heat so why is it working in reverse?” Sam wanted to know; at least this explained why he felt over heated right?

"Better safe than sorry," Lee said with a slight frown, though Sam wouldn't be able to see that through the paper face mask she was wearing. She tried not to think about the fact that she had already been exposed before she had been able to get the mask on.
But then Sam was apologizing for waking the DocProf up in the middle of the night, and Lee couldn't help the small smile from coming to her face, though it quickly disappeared. "I think he was about to rip my head off for waking him before he realized it wasn't me I wanted him to look at." And yes, it might be quite common for her to come in wanting the Doctor to look her over, to make sure everything was still alright, but she wouldn't be doing that in the middle of the night if it wasn't actually urgent.
By this point, Sam was being examined, so Lee made sure to keep her distance, not wanting to get in the way. It didn't take long for that to be forgotten, at least temporarily. "200 degrees?" Lee asked in shock as she took a couple steps closer to the bed. "How is that possible?"

"How is that possible?"
Sam let out a small cough filled with an even smaller laugh, “You worried about me Lee?” Sam was immediately done teasing Lee when DocProf shoved a needle in his arm to draw blood.
“So Sam can you explain to Lee how you can are at 200 degrees right now?” Asked DocProf with a look of reassurance on his face.
“Not really.” Said Sam shrugging, “other wise I wouldn’t be here.”
“Alright how about this then, Sam can you tell her how your power works?” questioned the Doctor as he pulled the needle from Sam’s arm.
Sam looked at the semi-melted needle then looked to Lee talking so the Doctor could hear. “Well, My ability works with the temperature around me and in…” Sam paused for a second trying to best describe what happens after that, “After that I guess I can just make ice from air.”
Doc walked closer to Sam saying, “Well, that’s close enough, so how cold can you go Sam?”
Sam looked at the Doc thinking to himself well you already know all this so why… then it hit him it was for Lee not the Doc. Sam cleared his throat, “Well as far as I know -300 or something.” Sam played it off as if it was no big deal.
The Doc looked to Lee smiling, “ So you see, it isn’t that big of a deal if he is that hot, I’ll admit it’s very strange, I am guessing his powers are growing or it could be a sickness of some kind.” He moved closer to Lee, “Now miss why don’t you have a seat so we can run some tests to make sure it’s nothing contagious.”

Was she worried about Sam? Well, she wouldn't have actually stayed with him on the trip to the infirmary if she wasn't. "And about myself," Lee added to Sam's question. "And my baby, and everyone else in the mansion."
Sam and the Doc started talking then, sort of to each other, but at the same time speaking to her. And, at least in the doctor's case, was trying to calm her down and stop her worrying. Like he tried to every time that she had been in the infirmary over the last few months.
But then Sam said that he was able to bring the temperature down to about -300 degrees, and Lee collapsed onto a nearby bed as she stared at Sam. Yes, there was cold, but that was cold. Yet the Doc was smiling at her as if there was nothing wrong.
She was already sitting, so DocProf finished up with his tests on Sam before turning toward her. As she was poked and prodded, Lee sat impatiently still; she was more than familiar enough with having the doctor check her over by this point that she was able to sit there and just let him work while she tried to keep her worry budding into panic internal.
While the DocProf was examining her, Lee suddenly looked up at him. "Could you check the baby too while I'm here?" Lee asked, not looking at the needle that was currently sticking out of her arm.
"Mrs Brooks," he said, his voice firm, a little annoyed, but not harsh. "You were here just, what time is it now? Fourteen hours ago? There was absolutely nothing wrong or to worry about."
"I know, but after this," Lee paused and took a breath. "I'd rather be sure, you know?"

Sam’s jaw dropped as steam came out and he started to cough, “YOU HAVE A KID?” Sam was in complete shock, he didn’t notice it until she said something but looking at her stomach showed a huge bulge. Sam noticed Doc Prof looking at Sam like he just noticed something that was so blatantly obvious. “I am sick.” Was all Sam could say to Doc’s look.
Just then what the Doc said hit him like a ton of bricks. Sam muttered to him self, “My powers could be growing…. I don’t feel to bad any more, every time I cough…” Sam heard the Doc ask, “You say something son?” Sam replied while watching him check on Lee, “Nothing Doc.” Sam looked back at his fingers and saw steam rising slowly from the tips. Sam closed his eyes and tried to visualize him controlling the steam.
Just as Sam thought about creating more steam he felt his body get warmer, and sure enough the room was filling with steam and getting warmer.

Lee jumped when she heard Sam's exclamation. Just the sheer volume of it was shocking. "Yeah," Lee replied slowly. "Well, I will. Give it a few more months and I will. What? You thought I just got fat?" It wasn't harsh, it wasn't mean. Lee asked it in jest, teasing as much as she was able to in her worry.
It really didn't take DocProf long to take the samples and such for the tests he was wanting to run. Then he wheeled the monitor over to hook up to her to see the baby's heart rate. Something that Lee had grown quite used to by this point. So much so that she felt she could probably hook herself up to it on her own.
"Everything looks alright," DocProf said after looking at the monitor for a couple seconds. "I'll leave it hooked up while I go run the tests. Now just relax, dear. All this worry and stress isn't healthy for either of you."
Lee nodded, though saying she'd worry less was far easier than making it a reality.
"How do you feel?" DocProf asked, turning to Sam before he went to run the tests.

Sam blushed as Lee asked him if she was just fat, ”to be honest I didn’t notice, I was kind of disoriented.” He smiled at her then turned to the Doc, “I think so but check this out.” Sam closed his eyes and tensed his body and started to shake a little as his body started to over heat. Sam kept this up till steam shot out of his ears making a faint whistling sound. With that he started to laugh, “Just like in the cartoons.” Sam smiled at the Doc as he just turned back to Lee shaking his head laughing, “You woke me up for this, he seems fine to me.” Sam looked to Lee and shrugged, “think it might e a power growth cause I seem fine now.”
Sam did have a point. When she had found him in the hallway, he had been out of it, distracted, disoriented. He'd even called her 'mom' to start with, so it really wasn't much of a surprise that he hadn't actually noticed her pregnant condition.
By this point, both the DocProf and Sam seemed to believe that his condition was as a result of some sort of power growth rather than a sickness of any kind, Sam even going so far as to show it off a bit. Though, if he did have that kind of control, maybe it wasn't Haywire after all.
But then the Doc was laughing slightly as he turned toward her. Lee returned that laugh with a glare. "Weird, out of control powers and hallucinating that I'm his mother. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. Is the baby alright?"
"Of course," DocProf said, the smile fading from his face. "There's nothing more wrong than there's been any other time you've come to see me."
"Good," Lee growled, pulling the electrodes off her stomach that had been monitoring the baby. Yanking her tank top back down to cover as much of her stomach as it could, Lee stood up and strode toward the door.

Sam hopped off the patient’s table and followed Lee to the door only to turn to Doc, “Sorry we woke you, have a god night.” Sam then got the impression that Lee was upset about something. Sam opened the door for Lee then asked, “So are you going back to bed?” Sam was debating on what he should do next, he was a little hungry and tired and now thinking about his new powers he wanted to get a grasp on them and use them as soon as he could.
"You need to stop stressing and worrying, Lee" DocProf said as Lee walked away, his voice softer and more caring than it had been just a moment before. "It's not healthy for either of you."
Lee ignored him. That's what he said every time that she was down to see him, and yes, she understood how the stress and worry wasn't good, but she just couldn't stop it. And for him to be telling her that after what she had thought was going on with Sam?
She was just reaching the door out of the infirmary when Lee heard another voice from behind her, though much closer than DocProf's had been. Turning her head, Lee felt the tug that the mask which was still on her face gave her, and lifted her hand to tear it off.
Lee tossed the mask to the ground as she turned to look at Sam, who was now standing there holding the door open for her. "Do I look like I could sleep right now?" Lee asked as she swept through the now open door. "I was going to the kitchen when I found you."

Sam let out a small smile as his stomach growled, “well you mind if I join you? If not I understand.” Letting a small laugh loose, “guess I did worry you a bit, sorry.” Sam looked down at his hands noticing they were smoking still. Sam really needed to get the hang of this steam down it was starting to get annoying. Constantly seeing smoke would drive him insane plus he has to figure out if it affects the people around him like his main ability does. If Lee was going to refuse his offer he would just try and figure out how much power he can produce from his new ability.

"You think?" Lee asked, turning a raised eyebrow at Sam when he realized he had in fact worried her. Really, even without the worry of Haywire over their heads, wouldn't it be worrisome to find someone in the condition Sam had been in?
But he was wondering if she minded if he joined her in the kitchen for her midnight snack. Lee shrugged as she continued along the hallway. "It's not my kitchen," she stated simply. "I can't exactly tell you to stay out, can I? Just don't ask me to make you anything, you probably won't like what I'm having."

"I can't exactly tell you to stay out, can I? Just don't ask me to make you anything, you probably won't like what I'm having."
Sam gave a half hearty laugh to Lee comment, “I wouldn’t expect you to make me anything, you’re not my mother, so I wouldn’t expect you to make anything for me. Besides I m sure what ever you’re having won’t be to far off on what I am having.” Sam lied with his last comment, he had no idea what she was having and chances are it be a weird combination with that whole pregnancy craving and all.
Sam started walking down the hall to the kitchen when he looked to Lee, “So what’s it like?” Sam of course was referring to the baby, he never could ask his mother and he never really knew anyone who was pregnant, and he wasn’t planning on having a kid of his own any time soon.

Lee laughed when Sam said he'd probably end up having something similar to her eat. "I doubt that," Lee told Sam. "Tarin normally gags, if he isn't almost sick, by some of these cravings. I'm almost sick at times when I think back to some of my cravings."
But then Sam asked a question. Looking over, she saw his lowered gaze, and wrapped an arm around her stomach. "What's it like?" She asked softly, her eyes moving back to the darkened hallway in front of them. "Absolutely terrifying. Tarin and DocProf keep telling me I have nothing to worry about, but what are my powers doing to the baby? Constantly."
