The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A local clock tower struck twice, sounding to the sleeping world that it was now two in the morning. Shade, sitting on the second story of a nearby apartment building, smiled widely as he stood from crotched postion, his long, grey cloak flapping around him as the wind blew against his body. He had been watching the mansion for nearly three hours. Thrity minutes ago, the last light inside the mansion had switched off, and now, Shade was sure most of the residents were sound asleep. There might be two or three older mutants patroling the place, but they would be no problem for the invisible mutant. Shade had been sent here on the orders of Syn for two reasons. The first being to find out a little more informaiton about their goody-too-shoes neighbors. Informaiton like who was staying there and what their powers were exactly. The second was a little more dangerous: find a mutant and inject them with a sample of Haywire virus Syn was planning to release on a world-wide scale. Shade tapped the dart-gun hostled to his side. He only had one shot in the gun. Something Syn had made perfectly clear to the shadowy mutant. He couldn't miss or everything would be lost.
Taking one step, Shade silently leaped from the building. Quickly 'jumping', the teleporter was now across the street from the large mutant instituion. Quickly surveying the area, Shade again 'jumped', this time landing inside the mansion's brick fence. Looking to his right, the hooded mutant noticed the tilt of a camera scanning quickly towards him. However, the camera never really had a chance as another quick 'jump' placed him safely inside the mansion.
Now, time to business. Shade thought to himself as he silently began to make his way towards the headmistress's office and hopefully the nessecary files he was looking for.
(OOC: Just posting my presence. I won't be actually be coming in until later, so don't wait up for my posts.
Neena sat on the roof of the Mansion, staring up at the stars. She'd drawn Night Shift yet again and, as usual, decided to spend it outside. She wasn't too fond of the chilly night air, but she drew comfort from the darkness.
She could function as normally in the dark as the everyday human functioned during the day. She could see perfectly, and even her extra visions worked without giving her headaches. To Neena, moonrise appeared more beautiful than any sunrise could be. She truly was a Night Owl.
She heard the clock chime inside the Mansion. Two am. A lovely hour to simply lean back, listen to the nocturnal concert around her, and enjoy the tranquility.
If only daytime could be as peaceful as its dark counterpart.

It was close to two in the morning and Sam was once again head first in the fridge looking for a nice big midnight snack. As soon as Sam had finished his food he did his dishes and headed back to his room. But something was off; he heard something as he walked down the hallways. Sam called out "who's there?"
Garrett had been resting most of the day after the events of the training session with Neena. He was feeling somewhat better though he still had some kind of instability going on in his nerves. He recalled how the pain had charged in his arm. He held his wrist in front of him, regarding it as if it were a foreign object. For the first time, the memories of the camps had become real to him. They were no longer a story. He could almost feel the hood on his head when it happened. When he came out of the episode, he almost thought reality was the dream, not the other way around.
He hated constantly harassing the DocProf, especially after the day's events and Maya's burn the other night. He thought he might have to go down to the Infirmary though if he didn't feel better soon. The nausea was still present and his nerves felt as if they were made from some alien material. He thought he would go into the garden or perhaps return to the brier patch that had brought him contentment and Maya's hand.
One way or the other, he would have to leave the room. It felt like it was shrinking, the walls closing in on him. He flipped the lights off and opened the door, wondering where he would head first.
Shade made his way down the halls, careful not to make a sound. He was rather surprised when he actually did find someone up. The boy from the alley way battle. The invisible mutant gave little thought to the fact that he had joined the X-men. It fitted him. However, Shade was now second guessing himself about saving the little runt. Here, he was trying to steal some secret information and Ice-boy over here was getting a late night snack.
The boy began to return to his room when he suddenly stopped. Shade had to muffle a chuckle when the youngster actually called out for someone. The kid was staring down a blank alley. The real threat was several yards behind him. How easy it would be to kill him right now?
Shade restrained himself from materializing a dagger to down the mutant. It would be easier without causalities. Shade uttered a tiny grunt then 'jumped' across the room towards another hallway. The movement disturbed two sheets of paper, causing them to blow to the ground. Shade paid little attention as he disappeared into another hallway, moving towards the head mistress's room.

Ethan was lying on his bed looking at the ceiling, something he had grown accustomed to since he got his powers. He couldn't imagine anyone that could litterally keep themselves up to the point that he did. He eventually got sick of it and sat up in his bed. His stomach growled and he looked around the room. He had run out of snacks that he normally stocked up on in his room in order to avoid others so he decided to get a snack from the kitchen. He stood and pulled on a pair of sleep pants over his boxers and a t-shirt over his head. He then turned and walked out the door of his room. The hallway instantly lit up like every light in the place had been turned on. He saw a kid standing in the hallway looking towards Ethan as if he was looking for someone. Ethan just looked back with a questioning look on his face, "What?"
The Mansion was quiet for the most part. There could be a party going on somewhere in it and he would never know, as huge as it was. Places like this were reserved for travel magazines as far as he was concerned. Usually he felt the urge to clean up any trace of himself, fearing to mar the otherwise beautiful estate. The carpet in the hallways felt good under his bare feet, relaxing him slightly. He still had shivers running down his spine.
He reached the end of the adult hall and looked down both corridors. One for boys and one for girls. His eyes stayed on the door near the end of the girl's hall. Maya's room. He wondered if she might be up, restless. He decided to give it a try as misery loved company and he loved....the idea. He walked up to the door and knocked slightly. In a hushed voice, he said" Maya? You there?"
He waited for a moment and considered opening the door but changed his mind. She wouldn't care for the intrusion and he respected her enough not to do so. He stood at the door a few more moments, shivering.

Sam looked to the guy several yards down the hall as he got a shiver up his spine, he felt like someone was behind him. Sam looked around but saw nothing. Getting paranoid Sam walked down the hall to where the mutant was. Sam responded to the question he asked a second ago. “I don’t know I wasn’t sure if anyone was there.” Feeling paranoid Sam then asked the guy, “did you see someone behind me a second ago?”
Ghost never really paid much attention to what her body needed. She was so absent minded that she often forgot to eat or would fall into a light sleep as soon as she stopped and was still. It didn't help that she had so many other things on her mind these days. She'd yet to talk to Neena about setting up classes for college and tuition and it was her aim to at least slip the teacher a note tonight before she got distracted by anything else.
Ghost made her way down to Neena's office along the corridor with the other teacher's offices. It was late and so she didn't expect to see anyone there - and she didn't. Ghost knelt next to Neena's door and slid the paper underneath the door without incident. For a brief moment she wondered if the teacher would see it, having never actually seen Neena in her office. As the seconds ticked by and Ghost remained still the drowsiness came over her, she could go incorporeal and retrieve the note. It could just be a reminder to her to talk to the teacher.
Ghost became incorporeal and began to slide underneath the door, but it felt so unnatural and she was ever so tired...
Dong! Dong!
The bell rang sounding two A.M. and Ghost slept soundly in the teacher's hallway. Her incorporeal form had drifted along the corridor together with the air currents and now she slept partially stuck in a vent's air filter. Her mind kept her intangible body in a semblance of her form even in sleep and the filter seemed to be caught on a particularly dense bit of air in her shoulder. Any passers by may be shocked to see what would appear to be the ghost of a student that hung herself from a vent. And so Ghost slept, soundly as ever, looking truly like her namesake.
This was getting almost too easy. With nothing but a chance encounter with a hungry teenager, Shade was rather disappointed with the whole ordeal. Little to no secruity, no powerful mutants patroling the halls, most of the doors weren't even locked. It wasn't like that would stop Shade, but these X-men cared nothing for secruity. The infiltrator was starting to wonder if they wanted to be broken in. Heck, half a cat-bugalary could break into this place and make a pretty good pull by the looks of things.
However, that didn't make Shade turn his guard down. In contrast, the robber was starting to raise it up. Maybe they were laying a trap for him. They must know he was coming, and they were about to capture him.
As he finished this last thought, Shade turned down the hallway leading to the head mistress's office. That is when he saw the second craziest thing in his life (the first being Abyss's enormous red figure). The instance Shade turned the corner, he saw the light. He quickly dove back to cover causing several loud thumps to echo through the floor, knowing an ambush was about to conmence. However, fifteen seconds passed with no noise, no sudden bright lights. Carefully, peaking around the corner, Shade saw what appeared to be a luminous figure hanging several feet from the ground. The hooded mutant didn't believe in ghosts, but at the moment, there seemed to be one floating in the hallway right where he needed to go. Shade also knew he had made somewhat of a ruckus that was sure to send the calavary coming now. So he really didn't have time to deal with a ghost. No worries.
Instantly, Shade's boots met the soft carpet of the head mistress's room. Now moving with a sense of urgence, Shade began to search for the intented files. Finding them, he turned on a desk lamp, retrieved a camera, and began to quickly snap pictures of the mutant information.
Garrett hadn't heard Maya in her room, so he went to look for her. She was probably roaming around on the grounds or something. Not having to actually step on the ground made it hard to find her. the pain was still moving through him in small waves. When he had first been brought to his room, it was more like aftershocks of an earthquake of the body. By now, it had decreased by a large amount but was still uncontrollable. He rolled his neck, walking the halls, looking for her.
He was getting a bit frustrated, having walked each hall, looking into open rooms, when he came across a strange sight. It was Maya, but she was suspended in the hallway. He walked up to her, about to say hello, when he noticed that she was sleeping. He stepped right up to her. It appeared she was clinging to an air vent, the way a rogue piece of paper or a dryer sheet might. He thought of touching her but heard movement and a clicking sound to his right.
He saw the office of the Headmistress. A light was on and there was definitely someone inside. He thought about it and it made sense. Neena seemed to enjoy the night. He had seen her in trees occasionally, watching the darkness. She must have been inside working on something. He thought it would be classic if he could get a picture of them with Maya before she woke up. The idea made him giggle a bit, but he tried to keep it down, fearing to wake the aptly named Ghost.
He stepped up to the door and tried the knob. It was locked. This was strange but perhaps she was working on something important. But at this time of night? He supposed nothing was out of the ordinary here at the Mansion. He didn't want to wake Ghost, so he tapped at the door quietly. With Neena's keen senses, she would be at the door in no time.
(OOC: Just a quickie reminder about Haywire to all involved in this thread: Seizure's powers will be completely beyond his control. Please read his power description before attacking him. His mutation is powerful and pain-oriented, and you SHOULD get hurt. Attacks from him are invisible, so you won't see them coming. And attacks on him likely will not elicit much of a reaction.)

Streak woke up in the middle of the night. Again. The nightmares were starting to bug him. He was getting tired of it and he needed to relax. He walked to the mirror in his room and looked at himself. He was covered in silver and sweat. He shook his head, opened his door and walked out. He needed to calm down and there was no better way to do that than to walk around when no one was up. Streak was tired and didn't feel like taking the stairs so once he reached the end of the rooms he decided to walked through the walls.
Streak hadn't practiced this technique very much so he fell straight through the floor and landed on the one directly below where he was. He lightly landed on the carpet and looked around. He was inside a classroom somewhere on the floor below the rooms. He didn't bother to walk out the door, he walked to the back of the room and through the wall. The wall rippled as Streak passed through it. Streak stopped. He looked around and noticed he was in Neena's office. The light was on and someone, who wasn't Neena, was rummaging through her office and taking pictures of things.
He was suddenly not just wandering through the halls anymore. He was wide awake. "Hi, what are you doing. I don't think Neena would approve of what you're doing." Streak said to the man with covered by a gray cloak. This guy looked suspicious and the silver man figured he wasn't supposed to be in here let alone taking pictures of some files.

Ethan looked at the boy standing down the hall from him who seemed slightly paranoid. Ethan leaned a little bit to the left to look behind him. "No i didn't see anything." He closed the door to his room and suddenly an errie feeling set in, something was off tonight. The florecent hairs on the back of his neck were standing on end. He glanced behind him only to hear a thud come from behind the other mutant in the hallway. Ethan flew past him and towards the end off the hallway only to se the flicker of clothe around the corner. He turned to his companion a thoughtful look on his face, "You heard that too right?"

Sam was starting to get worried even though the guy said nothing was behind him. Sam ran down the hall a little bit so he was close enough to whisper to the guy. “Yeah I heard something to.” Sam thinking to himself contemplating what that sound could be, “Something is going down.” Sam said this in a whisper just the guy next to him could hear him. “You want to go check it out?” before he could answer Sam was already tiptoeing his way down the hall.
