The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

HISTORY - Life began rather normally for Tarin, being raised in a large Texas town and playing football like every other boy around. Then, when he was eleven, his father died of lung cancer. Everyone thought Tarin to be crazy when he claimed to have seen his father hovering over him that night. Thus began Tarin's connection with the spirit realm, and those who occupied it via one means or another, a connection that landed him in an institution for a short time. Eventually he learned to ignore his 'sight', but that was only the beginning of the problem. After being beaten within an inch of his life by high school bullies, Tarin discovered the Merge. He and his girlfriend ended up in the same body, in the middle of the highway. Though the two youths ended up unharmed, many others did not, and Tarin fled the area.
Several years, many women and numerous moves later, Tarin finally ended up in New York. Here he met Lee Smith, a woman unlike any other he'd been with, and also a mutant. Their relationship began in a whirlwind, and very soon they not only moved in together, but became engaged. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, the relationship also ended in a similar whirlwind.
Totally broken up at first, Tarin decided to return to his old life of one-night stands and such. However, he's discovered that the old life has become.... well, 'old'. But is it going to be possible to get Lee back now? Especially with another disturbing situation developing, that may threaten more than their strained relationship?
POWERS - Tarin has two mutations. The first, and easiest to deal with, allows him to see the ghosts of the dead who, for one reason or another, cannot rest in peace. The second, and far more dangerous, is the Merge. In cases of extreme emotion, Tarin may loose control, and combine consciousness with whoever next touches him. This new, merged being is always different, depending on the situation, and more often than not, far more dangerous. At times, a ghost may also decide to take control, which creates a whole different set of problem. For more info, check out his character profile.
POSTS TO SEE:
Medium Shop - Tarin and Lee's first appearance in New York puts them in contact with some rather strange characters.
Vandalism is a Smoking Gun - Mutants meet Cop. No, its not an ad in the Personals, but it is the beginning of an interesting relationship between Tarin Brooks and Rupert Kelley. And Ethan gets points for the hook up!
It Wasn't Supposed to be Like This - Tarin's Merge make a rather dramatic appearance, and the finale nearly takes his life. Fortunately Lee moves faster than Tarin can, and is stronger. He sure knows how to pick 'em.
It's Not Going to Matter, the Lines Are All Down - Remember how fast Tarin and Lee's relationship started? Well, it ended pretty quickly too, leaving Tarin confused and more than a little betrayed. He would never cheat on Lee, and she should know that.
She Just Told Me Have Someone Check Your Head - Life has been difficult without Lee, and Tarin seeks to forget it all by spending the night with another gal. But when he wakes up in the morning to find the lady gone, and himself and his apartment covered in blood, he is totally bewildered. Suddenly those nightmares he's been having seem a whole lot more worrisome, especially once he takes a look at the news, and sees his date's face on the 'Missing Persons' report. Someone else is sharing Tarin's body, and has plans of his own. Although first Rupert, then Lee, tries to help, this encounter may not have that 'Fairy Tale Ending' Tarin was hoping for.
Everyone always claims that 'Nice Guys Finish Last'. Keep reading, and let's hope that this Nice Guy doesn't end up as one of those ghosts he's always seeing.
Is it going to be possible to get Lee back? Who really knows, considering Tarin was almost asking Lee out for the first time before we even really considered the idea of them dating. I mean, I want them to get back together, but with what's still going through Lee's mind, I really don't know how we'd work it.
But a huge congratulations, Tarin! You SOOO deserve this!
Kudos, Emo-Whiny-Chair-Whipping-Boy, kudos. *Rup pours a cup of Tarin's scotch into one of Tarin's teacups and makes a vague toasting motion before handing the cup to Tarin and taking the rest of the bottle off to a corner*
