The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tris wanted to help......but Kit had made it clear going up against the swordsmen was her thing- and Tris couldn't begrudge her that. Tris stood aside for a bit, power at the ready to blast the guys away from her friend if things took a turn for the worse.
....but they didn't, as Tris looked on in envious joy at Kits fighting skills, cat calling and wolf whistling and cheering the whirling red head on as Kit defeated opponent after opponent. Seeing Kit really didn't need saving, Tris took this opportunity to relocate into a better position a.k.a - sneaking past the guards who's attention was fixed on Kitra anyway and sneak to and up one flight of the stairs.
Tris was now looking down on the scene of Kitra kicking butt and smiled, happy to just observe. Kit finished the fight and all the swordsmen were down. She turned to look at Tris...
Kitra turned to look at Tris, "Shall we proceed?"
......or atleast where she had last left Tris....who was no longer there.
"OI! up 'ere." Tris hollered while gesturing for Kit to come on up now there was nothing stopping them. "That was some great work hun." she complimented as Kit made her way up to Tris's level. "Now all we got is this annoying flight of never ending stairs and we can get this golden disk and be done with it........Come on I'll race ya." Tris said laughingly as she took off up the tower, leg muscles working overtime as she bounded on stair after stair with Kit following close behind.
They reached the towers top room quickly- sweatie and panting, with no mishaps other than their legs reminding them what they'd just been running up- stretches, must do stretcher's.
Tris opened the door and went in, looking around the room for any telltale trap signs before she eyes fell on the golden disc that was their goal. .......Wow that thing was shiny.
Her and Kit both walked towards the glinting disc, Tris glanced at her counterpart; "So, what do ya think? Take it? or look around for more traps?"
Hunter saw Kitra neatly defeat the swordsmen. She had improved, and was now fighting to win as opposed to for fun. Tris made good use of the distraction to enter the tower. He watched as the pair made there way up the stairs with no more traps they should be able to easily get the golden disk. Of course, getting back was another matter.
Hunter removed his suit jacket and tie, undid the top button of his shirt and rolled up his sleeves. While he was perfectly capable of fighting in a suit, considering that the girls should be going all out he wanted the extra mobility. In one fluid motion he stepped up onto the walkway railings and balanced there a moment.
“Remember,” he said without turning to look at Calley or Zephyr, “Once they emerge from the tower keep attacking until one of them gets the gold disk beyond the wall.” With that he dropped off the walkway and landed lightly on the tower roof, so those inside would not hear him. Walking to the edge of the roof he dropped to the floor.
Once on the ground he picked up one of the fallen swordsmen’s swords and twirled it experimentally to get a feel for it before entering the tower. He began to climb the stairs at an unhurried place. There was only one way out of the tower, so sooner or later he would run into the girls, and then the exercise would get really interesting.
....And Tris wasn't there....then heard Tris holler behind her....shaking her head in mirth, she ran up the stairs to meet up with Tris....and grinned at Tris' complement.....then looked upwards in amusement.....
"Now all we got is this annoying flight of never ending stairs and we can get this golden disk and be done with it........Come on I'll race ya."
....Laughing slightly, Kitra pumped her legs upwards after Tris.....she and Tris ended up hitting the room door at the same time and they walked inside......'wowza that is really really shiny....'
"So, what do ya think? Take it? or look around for more traps?"
To answer Tris' question...she just reached out and grabbed it....nothing, no traps....she grinned, "I think we are all good. I'll race ya down the stairs." Kitra took of with the golden disk in her arms....it wasn't heavy, not even ten pounds.....
Almost halfway down the stairs with Tris following close behind, she swore she heard footsteps coming up towards them....she held up her hand to stop Tris and wasn't able to stop her own momuntemt of racing down the stairs.....almost falling around the bend she got the surprise of the obstacle course.....
Hunter....holding a sword....and blocking their path......"Hello Hunter." Kitra shook her head as a small grin appeared on her face, "You're not here to congrulate us are you?" She didn't think so.....now to find out for sure....but just in case....she concentrated and the silver hilted dagger came into being behind her back and hung motionless....waiting for her to grab it when needed.....

Calley
“Pfft,” Calley said simply, turning his head the slightest bit to watch Hunter’s unnecessarily unconventional exit from the walkway. “Showoff.” Orders being orders, though, he promptly stood up, and hoisted the rubber ball machine gun over the railing. It looked like it would still be awhile ‘til he and Zephyr were called into action again, though, so he spoke to the mercenary as he kept his eyes on the scene.
His fellow teenager’s rundown of their teammate had been... informative, to say the least. Calley felt a little like competing; seeing if his own information on Kitra was up to par. His eyes rolled up the slightest bit. Then he began to list:
“Mutation-wise, Kitra can bring her illustrations into reality. She draws things really fast, and really well, and it seems like she can use drawings over again—either that, or she’s drawn her favorite weapons multiple times. The effect is the same. Oh, and she doesn’t have to draw from life—a lot of her weapons seem like stuff she just made up. I don’t know how close she has to be to her sketchbook for it to work. She can make anything—and I mean anything.” He shot a warning glance to the mercenary. “When this training is over, you might want to get out before she gets a closer look at you. I’ve seen her bring drawings of people to life. I don’t know if they’d have the same powers as the originals, but...” He shrugged. If he had a say in the matter, he’d never want to see a drawing of himself running around. Zephyr probably still had a say, if he dodged Kitra. What Calley did not tell the mercenary: Killing one of those people-sketches really hurts her. That didn’t seem like information to be lightly tossed out.
“Personality-wise, she’s... very trusting, I guess. And friendly. But she really, really doesn’t think things through. In a fight, if she isn’t concentrating on concentrating, then she’s really easy to distract. Hunter’s been teaching her swordplay, as you probably guessed, and how to use her other weapons, as well.” He thought of something the mercenary had listed for Tris, and of the night he’d first met Kitra in Central Park, and added; “Kitra doesn’t come off as a killer, but she definitely doesn’t mind hurting people if they come at her. She probably wouldn’t mind killing, either. Let Hunter train her for a little bit more and she definitely won’t. She really believes in the guy. Right now, though, she’s just sort of... young. Yeah.” He shrugged. Information offload: complete. “So, umm...” Calley’s hands fidgeted with the machine gun. “Sorry about that whole ‘Can I call you Zeph’ thing, and the, err, quips about your competency,” he rushed out. It was hard to explain that the nickname thing had been said more to annoy Slate than Zephyr, and it was really hard to explain that the competency quips were courtesy of his alternate personality, so... he didn’t. That wasn’t exactly information the mercenary needed to know, anyway. “I say stupid things sometimes. The Scary Boss Man is trying to, ah, break me of that.” He laughed. It was a very abrupt, not-very-funny laugh. He cleared his throat, and attempted to cover it over by immediately asking Zephyr a topic-changing question: “How did you meet the Boss Man? Umm, if you don’t mind my asking.”
To answer Tris' question...she just reached out and grabbed it....nothing, no traps....she grinned, "I think we are all good. I'll race ya down the stairs."
"........Or we could do that." Tris said laughing as Kit just grabbed the disc, and then Tris took off after Kit back down the stairs again......man she was sooo gonna need a long hot shower tonight.
Kitra took of with the golden disk in her arms....it wasn't heavy, not even ten pounds.....
Almost halfway down the stairs with Tris following close behind, she swore she heard footsteps coming up towards them....she held up her hand to stop Tris and wasn't able to stop her own momentum of racing down the stairs.....almost falling around the bend she got the surprise of the obstacle course.....
Tris followed Kit down the stairs at a fair pace, but not the hurdling momentum the other girl was going at.......and so she was able to slow and stop as Kit gave her a signal that something was up. Tris crept down the rest of the steps separating Kit from her sight, hearing as she slowly inched around the bend in the stairwell.
Hunter....holding a sword....and blocking their path......"Hello Hunter." Kitra shook her head as a small grin appeared on her face, "You're not here to congratulate us are you?" She didn't think so.....now to find out for sure....but just in case....she concentrated and the silver hilted dagger came into being behind her back and hung motionless....waiting for her to grab it when needed.....
....Hunter? Tris said to herself incredulously, oh crap, as she realized this wouldn't be good.
Hunter came into her own line of sight then as Tris continued to afew steps above Kit......He was holding a sword- bad......he was in the way- real bad.......he had a that freaky tranquil expression on his face that he usually had right before he took you down in some super ninja move- even worse.
Tris- with adrenaline pumping and gaze picking up the lovely sharp edge of the sword......was kinda half tapped into her whole panic side of her power in any- ergo, it didn't take much thought to bring it to the fore of her mind.....she knew what she had to do.....but cringed inwardly- the amount of concentrated energy needed to freeze a person as opposed to an object, on top of the fact she'd just felt like she'd ran a marathon......damn, this was gonna hurt.
"Sorry Hunter, can't stay and chat- we kinda got an obstacle course to finish." Tris quipped, though her words were rushed as she raised her hands and closed her eyes, aimed her hands at him and threw a freeze on him, imagining the molecules that made him Hunter were frozen in time- imagery was something she'd being trying lately.
SHe opened her eyes as a throbbing pain took hold of her brain- okay okay, she was overdoing it, she knew that, but still;
Hunter looked at the girls and continued he slow, steady advance. The pair were making little quips, but Hunter knew that they were both worried. Then he saw Tris begin to move. He had a pretty good idea what she was about to do and could only think of one way to defend against it.
Locking eyes with her he focused on disrupting her concentration. Suddenly the whole world seemed to speed up. He felt as if someone had hit fast forward and suddenly everyone was moving like Kaz on speed. In a futile effort he swung the sword at Kitra, knowing that with the speed she was moving he’d never hit.
(OOC: You’re not actually fast, Hunter’s just a lot slower form Tris’s power. He managed to disrupt it, but not stop it completely)
Kitra grinned, "It worked part way Tris." Kitra blocked Hunter's swing with ease, she knew it normally wasn't this easy.....as her dagger blocked his swing she pushed upwards hoping to cause Hunter to became unbalanced.....If she got him unbalanced enough her and Tris could slip past him and run down the stairs as fast as possible.....
Kitra grinned, "It worked part way Tris." Kitra blocked Hunter's swing with ease, she knew it normally wasn't this easy.....
Tris saw that for herself as she'd opened her eyes and and her face crumpled into a indignant frown that while her head was throbbing from the concentrated effort of keeping the molecules of Hunter frozen- he was still moving around- grrrrr. Tris was quite put out and would have been more inclined to pout if she'd had the time- Her 'Ace', her 'get out of jail free card' hadn't worked properly- how unfair was that.
Still, she didn't dare let her concentration waver from her task- even 'slo mo' hunter was better than the live and speedy version. Atleast Kit had a shot now, which it looked like she was using to full advantage.
Tris gritted her teeth and held her power on Hunter with the force of her will, bringing her hands to her temples to massage in a futile effort to placate the ever increasing headache.......she knew if she just let go her head would feel awhole lot better.........but she tried to hold on while she could. "Whatever your gonna do, do it fast Kit!" she ground out.
Hunter saw Kitra move with such speed. He knew that in actually fact she was moving normally and it was just him being very slow due to Tris’s power, but that didn’t change the perception of things. The force of the blow was minor, but knocked him off balance.
It was very disconcerting to be falling quite that fast. He knew that he would never be able to catch himself in time, and barely had time to brace before he hit the deck. He skidded down several steps at what seemed like an insane speed before finally stopping. Climbing to his feet he turned back to the pair, but knew that if they moved they would be past him before he was up off his knees.
"Come on Tris! We can get past him!" She watched Hunter fall backwards and she raced past and did a slight leap over him and prayed that Tris was right behind her.....As she ran downwards in a spiral, Kitra picked up speed and basically burst out of the tower at top speed.....she kept running and decided that she would go all out on getting out of this maze......little did she know that Calley was watching and waiting for her.....
"Come on Tris! We can get past him!" She watched Hunter fall backwards and she raced past and did a slight leap over him and prayed that Tris was right behind her.....
"Good- cause I dont know how long this is gonna hold." Tris said in a pained voice.
Tris went to run, but stumbled......she didn't think she could multi task enough to keep the whole freezing concentration with a side order of major headache going as well as running fast down stairs......she wasn't up to that standard with her newest power yet. She was already beginning feeling light headed as it was.......she had to break the connection to her 'freeze' else she might just break something as falling down the endless stairs felt like a surety at this point. The ironic thing was- she was this to herself, this was self inflicted pain- all she had to do was let go in her mind and she would feel a hell of alot better.....
.....however- problem...... not being well versed in the whole experience aspect of the freezing thing, she had no idea if/when it would wear off if she severed her connection and control over it...... ....big problem......
Tris, leaning heavily against the wall, shuffled past Hunter's prone and slowed figure. She hobbled down afew more steps before giving in to her pain and releasing her hold on her power......but not before 'shoving' some last will power at it to keep the freeze up just alitle bit longer till it wore of on its own. .....long minutes, she hoped.......seconds, she thought would be more accurate.
Her headache and lightheadness dulled now the tension was gone, Tris felt mostly better. ....the mostly was due to the probably very pissed Hunter about to come back into normal time at any moment.
....That though sent Tris hurdling down the stairs at a run, hoping to get to the bottom before him.
She couldn't see Kit though, hoped she was on her way to the finish already with that disc.
Hunter watched helplessly as Kitra shot past him at enormous speed. Turning to look at Tris as he rose he thought he saw her face contorted in concentration, but she moved too quickly for him to be sure. With both of them now gone he had nothing to compare with to determine whether Tris’s slowing ability had worn off. He felt no different, so until he saw stuff moving he would have no way of knowing whether or not he was still being affected.
Turning he ran down the stairs to the door. Looking out he saw Kitra and Tris had almost reached the entrance to the maze and seemed to be moving at normal speed again, meaning that Tris’s power had worn off. He had expected them to come under fire, but considering that Calley, who had a terrible attention span, was using one weapon and Zephyr, who liked to wait before striking, the other he wasn’t that surprised.
Sprinting across the expanse of ground before him he watched the pair disappear into the maze. Rather than try and navigate it himself he bounded up onto the walls and, being careful to keep out of the girls sights, crossed over the top of the maze. Reaching the far side he dropped down and stood to the left of the exit, leaning against the wall. He’d wait for them to come out before attacking again.
Kitra kept moving and had reached the inner maze.....she had just reached the first of the pits and decided that she better put up a shield in case of a barrage of rubber pellets....or perhaps those plastic balls...she grabbed one of the ropes and gave it a firm tug to make sure it was still firmly attached....Kitra hauled herself across slowly but surely and made it to the other side and started running again.....and just barely escaped the quicksand type floor....she kept running and concentrated on her purple whip....brought it out and snapped it out to snag a pipe that was still sticking out of the wall.....and then turned to wat for Tris......
Zephyr nodded absently as he listened to Calley’s briefing, keeping one ear opened for the facts while his cobalt blue eyes remained fixed on the entrance to the great concrete column the girls were soon due to exit. Even though they were no longer supervised Zephyr still had a task albeit a rather trivial one, however the elementals attention swiftly reverted back to the shifter as the boy revealed the Kitra was in effect capable of cloning people. The merc’s mind instantly became aflame with activity as he considered the possibilities such mutation could hold; with the right portrait Kitra’s mutation could instantly grant access to the most secure places on earth, after all how many people would refuse access to Madam Hydra or on the other side of the spectrum Nick Fury, hell even the president! If all the girl needed was a photograph of her subject then the possibilities were endless!
Of course not every scenario was positive; from what little he heard Kitra’s mutation was a two sided sword and could easily be used against him, however Simon saw this as highly unlikely for the moment because if Calley was to be believed then the girl was somewhat enamored with the vampire and so as long as he maintained positive relations with his employer there was little chance of something untoward happening in that manner, and if by chance something did happen well, he could always kill her.
‘The future promises to be most interesting indeed’ he mused with a mental smirk, ‘and to think I was getting bored…’
“So, umm...”[/color]
Zephyr glanced down at his companion with a blank gaze as the boy fidgeted uncomfortably and mumbled his way through an awkward apology, causing the merc to raise an incredulous eyebrow at the shifters sudden change in behavior, what exactly was up with this kid? Initially he had been almost a perfect copy of Zephyr’s own personality, then his role had changed to something that was akin to a teenager hyped on sugar and this time, while the childlike aura still persisted his companion seemed almost afraid, such a lack of consistency made the boy annoyingly difficult to read. Still it was clear that Calley felt it necessary to apologize and so he deserved a response of some type and so the elemental drew his eyes away from the training below and instead fixed his azure orbs on the boys own.
“Calley, I have no problem with an abbreviation of my alias,” after all such a shortening of one’s name caused others to believe they had a level of familiarity with the subject in question and made them tend to forget what said subject was capable of, “as for the remarks about my skill, I have heard such comments throughout my relatively short career and I have developed what some might call a thick skin to any such insults.” In fact Zephyr had found such comments to be beneficial and tended to encourage them when he could as there was no greater advantage in combat than to be underestimated. “What I found somewhat distasteful was your abrupt role change, which you have done twice now and I would appreciate an explanation”
As he waited for a response from the shifter the elemental’s glance briefly switched back to the training area in time to catch a hint of movement, leaning back upon the guardrail of the catwalk Zephyr inclined his head downwards and watched silently as Kitra sprinted from the towers opening and made for the entrance to the maze. The merc left the artistic girl alone, after all she wasn’t his target if he wished to act upon any of his hastily concocted plans it would be far easier if the girl was not immediately inclined to dislike him, however that didn’t mean she would be getting a free pass.
“Your up” He informed his companion as he waved his arm down at the training area below to indicate Kitra’s position. Calley was quite a good shot and the merc was content to simply watch the shifter for a few moments until his target arrived.
When at last Trista did appear Zephyr narrowed his eyes and focused his attention of the Since the volatile redhead had proven herself capable of dismissing his earlier lackluster attack he would increase the difficulty level somewhat and hopefully give himself some kind of challenge. Levitating a single sphere from the pile Zephyr carried the orb on a howling wind which sent the projectile speeding through the air until it came to an abrupt halt some ten meters in front of Trista where it hovered silently for a moment or two as it was assaulted by several invisible blades of wind causing a multitude of barely visible hairline fractures to appear on it’s smooth surface for an instant before the sphere fell apart into eight equally sized pieces with both smooth and jagged edges, the individual sections quickly shot off in different directions as Zephyr manipulated the necessary air currents to make the pieces circle the red head at a rapid pace just outside of what he believed her range to be. Periodically he would direct one of the pieces to close in attack and her from the right or left and occasionally from behind as he sought to unsteady her and make her fall.

((OOC: Once again I apologize for my late reply, real life is not being kind to me at the moment and the seemingly never ending exams are doing nothing for my creativity. *sigh* I need some new anime… ))
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Tris reached the bottom of the stairs with her legs burning and heart racing.....but still, no Hunter. She leaned against the wall near the entrance, resting her weary limbs for the next track of the course, periodically glancing behind her for scary boss types, then ahead of her to scout the big open area and speculate on the dangers that might await her there.....but still, Kit had got through alright.
Tris didn't stop in the shadow of the entrance long- but was entirely grateful her freeze had seemed to do its job well and give her the time she wanted to rest both her mind and her limbs.
She didn't stay there long, not wanting to test her luck too much, before sprinting out into the open area, aiming to get to the maze as fast as possible........but a howling wind signaled the arrival of one of the plastic sphere which put idea first idea out of the question.
Tris skidded to a halt and watched the sphere with wariness in her gaze, knowing the balls origin. She didn't waste an evil glare at the distance form of Zephyr right now, time for that later- she focused on the sphere, waiting for it come closer in a hurry ...........but instead it proceeded to crack into smaller sections and then flew off in different directions to swirl in a wide, fast, circular orbit- with Trista at the center. ~Devious devil~ Trista reluctantly admitted in her mind as she sprung around and around in a kind of slow waltzing step, trying to work her way slowly to the maze- in which she might just have some sort of cover, while keeping as many of the fragments of the sphere in her sight as possible, hands raised against the possibility of attack.
Unfortunately Zephyr knew her powers, and it seemed her limits. He kept the swirling shards in a wide orbit, and they were going so fast she couldn't see them properly to aim and blow the damn things up. She tried afew random blasts, hoping to hit something......but she couldn't concentrate on that for long as intermittently he would send a spinning fragment hurling at her, from left and right and behind....some she blasted into nothingness.....some she couldn't and had to duck or dogde.
.....and frankly, Tris was getting frustrated..... She couldn't hit them all and she couldn't freeze them cause she was still drained from the last attempt with Hunter. Her temper that always simmered just below her personality, began to boil.....and her exploding power as a consequence began to get a power boost.
Her explosions, while not able to reach the far off orbiting ring yet, were getting more powerful, if alittle less controlled.
...when not fighting off an offered fragment now, she was going on the offensive. Throwing out her power and forcing the air molecules away forcefully from her in a kind of shield- like she'd been using to cross the first open area- it was a spotty shield, she couldn't make it surround her, but she kept turning and firing and turning, and focusing- trying to kept centered and not to let the niggling dizziness begin to get to her.
Her explosions were getting louder the more her frustration fueled her annoyance.........and she smiled grimly, good- she hoped they'd put the air elemental off.......if only to stop the noise and not get a headache.........but- damn, he did have that sound shield thing. .......but oh well, they were making her feel better.
