The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Despite their condition, the girls’ first stop was not the infirmary, but the cafeteria. There they each downed a glass of orange juice, then paused while it brought their sugar levels up enough for them to function. It was unusual for teenagers to be Diabetic and not need insulin shots, but the girls were very careful about their diet. Unfortunately, they hadn’t taken Zephyr into account when they started out on their usual chaos run that morning.
Once they were steady enough on their feet to walk straight, the pair headed for the infirmary.
Having started life as Siamese Twins, Amp and Vibe had been regulars at doctor’s offices and specialist clinics since birth. They actually put up very little fuss as the staff poked and prodded at them. Not big fans of pain, they endured shots and pinches and the like without protest. Vibe even managed to doze off for a few seconds while Xrays were taken of her shoulder and arm.
Of course, getting them to comply with the diagnosis was another matter entirely. A sling was accepted well enough for the pulled muscles in Vibe’s shoulder, but Amp refused to use crutches for her sprained ankle. And neither of them were in the mood to be told to ‘take it easy’, even with, most likely, bruised ribs. A few well-placed ‘ear-bendings’ let the doctors know they weren’t going to be swayed. Painkillers were given, and wounds wrapped, then Vibe helped her sister hobble to their room. They only stopped there briefly, however, just long enough to grab a pair of swimsuits, before heading out again, this time toward the gym.
It took twice as long to change than normal, but both girls were relieved to finally be able to slip into the pool. For a few minutes they just sat on the steps and relaxed in the shallow end, letting the water wash away their frustrations.
After asking several mutant residents as well as some of the medical staff Syn tracked down the twins. They were relaxing in the pool that she herself had been in when she first got to Sanctuary.
"Hello ladies, I bet the pool is feeling pretty good isn't it? I'm affraid we haven't had a chance to meet. My name is Syn. Who might you two be?"

>Incoming.<
"I hear 'em."
>They're new. Never heard 'em before.<
Amp merely grunted, eyes closed. Vibe was right though; the feel of footsteps approaching, amplified by the water around them, was different then the others the twins had 'heard' before. This was someone they hadn't yet met. Whether that was a good thing or not, they'd find out in a few minutes.
"Hello ladies, I bet the pool is feeling pretty good isn't it? I'm affraid we haven't had a chance to meet. My name is Syn. Who might you two be?"
In sync the girls each opened one eye. They were leaning back against the steps, so the woman looking down at them now was upside down. Black-and-red streaked hair, green eyes; she had an interesting sense of style.
Vibe translated what she'd said. Amp grunted again. "Would be better if it was a jacuzzi," she remarked. After another pause, "Amp, Vibe." She motioned to her sister with a nod; it took too much effort to point.
The girls weren't in a good mood at all, but at least this woman wasn't trying to beat the tar out of them. So for the moment they were content to leave it at that.
"Well, there is a jacuzzi over in that room." Syn pointed at a door off to the side of the pool area. She then nodded to the girls as she learned their names. "Welcome to Sanctuary Amp and Vibe. If it's not too personal I'd like to know your powers. I'm looking to recruit new members into an elite group. How does that sound to the two of you?"

Their first reaction was to narrow their eyes when Syn asked about their powers.
>What business it of hers?< Vibe scoffed and closed her eye, giving the impression she was no longer listening. Amp, on the other hand, opened her other eye, giving Syn her full, if annoyed, attention.
The word 'elite', however, caught both of their attention. Elite usually indicated privilege, and privilege had many, many perks.
Vibe opened her eyes, and the pair exchanged a brief glance. Several high-pitched squeals split the air, undulating in a wierd, and painful harmony. When the noise stopped, faint repeats echoed against the walls before fading away. The twins smiled at Syn devilishly.
"Let's just say that earplugs don't work around us," Amp finally answered. "Now about this.... 'elite' group.... We're listening."
Syn made something of a wincing look as the high pitched noise bounced around the pool area. When it stopped she wiggled her index finger in her ear as if to stop the ringing. "Interesting ability. So then I'm right in guessing you have powers related to sound and vibrations. That's definately very useful I'm sure."
Syn listened to Amp speak. "Well, I'm glad I have your attention. This elite group is called The Order. We are the ones who run and protect Santuary." The wicked girl could see intense interest in the girls eyes. "Yes it does bring about some responsibility but it also has it's bonuses. You'll have access to much more than the facilities you've seen here as well as holding a higher position than the majority of the other mutants residing here." She paused to let their thoughts dwell on what she had said. "What do you say to that?"

You'll have access to much more than the facilities you've seen here as well as holding a higher position than the majority of the other mutants residing here."
The enthusiasm drained a bit from the girls' faces. Responsibility? No thanks. Special facilities? Well, maybe that could be interesting. Higher Position? In who's eyes, and why would they care?
"What do you say to that?"
Amp shot her sister a sideways glance. "Anything else?" All in all, the girls cared very little what others thought of them, let alone other mutants. And they could easily get ahold of anything they needed in the luxury department. But entertainment, or at least what they considered fun, was sorely lacking lately. The boredom showed clearly on their faces.
"How would you like to fight the most famous group of mutants ever? What do you say to giving the X-Men something to remember?" Syn looked at both of the girls. They could see she was very serious about what she was talking about.
Almost every mutant knew the Xmen, or had at least heard of them. Fighting for equal rights for mutants, or something of the like; the girls never really paid attention to their preaching.
Then again, the rumors in the grapevine had them a powerful group, mutation-wise. And when Syn mentioned fighting them, a slight sparkle lit the girls' eyes. She looked completely serious, too.
"I dunno," Amp said aloud. "The Xmen are supposed to be the strongest mutants out there. What possible reason would we have for taking them on? Sounds like asking for a world-class beat down to us." But that sparkle of interest was as painfully obvious as their current wounds.
"That's the reason to take them on. To prove to them that they're no longer the top of the list anymore. We have enough mutants to take them head on and give them one hell of a fight especially if the two of you join us."
Syn could see she had sparked some interest in the girls. She just had to get them to say yes now.

One unbelievably powerful group of mutants fighting another unbelievably powerful group of mutants. Was there ever such a recipe for chaos? The girls doubted it.
"Is there a limit on how much damage we can cause?" Amp asked, still looking at Syn upside down. Both she and Vibe were now grinning from ear to ear, wounds temporarily forgotten.
Syn smiled at the girls. "Well, as far as how much damage you caan cause towards the X-Men goes I say do as much as possible. Damage to our facilities we'd like to keep to a minimum as I'm sure our leader Dorian King would agree with as well. In fact, we're planning to have a fight with the X-Men very soon."

>Figures, there had to be a catch.<
"Maybe, but I think we can handle that catch," Amp answered her sister out loud. She turned back to Syn. "Well, we aren't exactly used to team playing, but tell you what. You provide us with enough targets, and we'll keep the havoc happening."
The girls held out their hands, wincing as they did. "Deal?"
Syn squated down and shook both of the girls hands. "Deal. I assure you it will be a target rich environment."
Once that bit of business was done Syn stood back up. "I'll leave you girls to your recovery. Feel free to call for me if you need anything." She then left the pool area and headed back to the front desk. Since she thought the new arrival had called out her name.
