The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It hadn't been nearly so difficult to convince Quin to meet as it had for Lee to get Will to agree. However, Quin was a very busy young woman it seemed, and while she was willing to meet, it had taken longer to find a time that she was able to meet so Lee could check with her how she was doing after everything that had happened at the museum. Only a day after Lee had ended up meeting with Will, but the plans had been made days in advance.
Lee was glad that Quin was willing to meet to talk about how she was doing; with Quin's concern about being able to defend herself (which was why Lee had met her in the first place, as a sparring partner), Lee was concerned about how the woman was doing after the museum. The run in with the creepy clowns that Quin had briefly told her about had unsettled the young woman, Lee could only imagine how everything at the museum had effected her.
So as to make things as easy for Quin and her packed schedule as possible (plus the fact that it really was rather close to her own apartment), Lee walked into the Haven building just before noon. She had thought that leaving earlier that day than she normally headed to the bar would have made a difference. That she wouldn't have crossed paths with the adapted who had been outside her building the previous two days. But she had still suddenly stopped siphoning within steps of leaving her building
Lee managed to hold her near panic about that at bay telling herself that she was just over reacting. And reminding herself that Haven had better surveillance and security than any of the the other places she tended to spend time.
And was thankfully a shorter walk than Lee generally made to go anywhere else.
Right around noon, Lee was walking into the building. And while she did vaguely remember her way around a decent portion of the building, other than her recent sparring matches with Quin, Lee hadn't had reason (or clearance) to be in the building in over 6 years. Plus, she wasn't sure where Quin was wanting to actually have this talk. So Lee stood and waited in the lobby for the younger mutant.

Lee’s message had come at pretty much the worst time. After everything that had happened at the museum Quin had been absolutely slammed with work and school and work and school.
There hadn’t been time for anything. Not even time to sit down and really process what had happened over those two days. Not in any real way. It felt weird to reach out to Will about it. They’d hashed it and rehashed it that weird night at her place and then everything had blown up again the next day when they’d just been trying to find her laptop.
Maybe she’d reach out about that pizza, or the trip to that library.
If there was ever time.
Not only had the city almost been destroyed, election season was nearing and the Senator was up for re-election. One would have thought that a city-wide threat would be enough to bring people together, but it only seemed to fan the flames of the opposition brighter…as if it had somehow been the senators fault that a five thousand year old mystic had awoken and wreaked havoc for a few days.
So yeah. Quin had been busy when Lee texted, but the least Quin thought she could do was carve out a little bit for a cup of tea.
Lee had obligingly agreed to meet at Haven and as Quin made her way to the elevator, she wondered exactly what it was Lee wanted to touch base about.
The elevator doors dinged and Quin made her way to the lobby where Lee was waiting exactly at the appointed time.
”We can grab some coffee or tea at the restaurant…” she said, as she approached, ”We can drink it there or up at my place…but it’s a disaster zone of take out and textbooks.”

Lee really wasn't waiting long at all when she saw Quin making her way from the elevator. And Quin informed Lee as she was approaching that they could get coffee or tea at the restaurant.
Lee nodded in understanding. "Either works for me," she informed the younger woman. "I spent a solid four years with my apartment in Toronto looking like that. Only there were piles of children's toys scattered about too."
Now that Quin had reached her, Lee turned and started walking in the direction of the restaurant. Assuming it was in the same place as it had been six years earlier.
"I know you were training only as a 'just in case' something happened," Lee started as they walked. "That you never intended to be in a situation anything close to what happened at the museum. To be honest, I hadn't either."
"So how are you handling it all?" Lee asked, looking up at the redhead. "I know it can be hard to deal after things like that. And that not dealing with things because you're busy simply delays issues, it doesn't avoid them."

They headed towards the cafe and Quin nodded as Lee explained that she’d had a place in Toronto for years and that it had been in a similar state of disarray. That was good, it meant that Quin wasn’t completely dysfunctional and somewhat had her shit together.
Lee had apparently had toys everywhere too. Thank god Quin wasn’t dealing with that. The mere thought was horrifying. ”Well, I won’t lie and say that isn’t somehow reassuring. My professors canceled classes while the whole thing was going down, but you’d better believe we’ve still been expected to do all of the work. The Senator is gearing up for campaign season too…it’s all a mess.”
Lee seemed to want to cut right to the chase though, and as they walked she immediately jumped into talking about what had happened at the Museum.
How was she handling it? Avoiding thinking about it only delayed issues rather than dealing with them?
Quin laughed a little, shaking her head and shrugged. ”I mean, I was kind of a mess for a few days after it all went down and my ribs are still sore…but the Senator said there wasn’t any danger of getting in trouble over everything that happened, so yeah. I’m okay.”
Was she really though? Quin took a second to be introspective.
”Apparently the X-Men were desperate enough to call in literally anyone off the street, what else were we going to do?”

Lee rolled her eyes when Quin mentioned how school had been around the time that all that had happened. "How considerate that they actually cancelled classes when the city was literally under attack," she said sarcastically.
And Quin had mentioned something about working for a senator, hadn't she? That would be a lot more work for her with the upcoming election than normal, wouldn't it? Things did not sound like they were going to ease up for Quin for at least a couple months.
And Quin was alright because the senator had told her there was no trouble she'd get into because of what happened at the museum. That was the least of what Lee was getting at, and far from the 'issues' she had hinted at.
"Not a whole lot else we could have done," Lee admitted. "Not when Michael was already pulling the X-Men and others in weeks before all that to help. At least that's what Michael said when they showed up at Tarin's shop asking for his help."
"But, it was serious enough that, as far as I know, the only full X-Man at the museum was Kealey, and she retired years ago and Michael called me knowing that I've done everything possible to stay out of dangerous situations for the better part of the last decade."
Lee shook her head as they walked. The group that had been gathered for the museum, the group whose job that day was to deal with a 5000 year old mystic, had been trainees, 'retired' mothers, and people who hadn't signed up for that kind of thing ever. It really had been a bit of a mess.
"I'm glad that the senator reassured you about there being no trouble or legal issues," Lee went on to say, glancing up at Quin. "I've never even considered becoming a cop or X-Man, but there's a reason I started training and sparring like I do. Trouble and danger never seemed to have an issue finding me. And those weren't the issues I was referring to. So are you actually doing alright?"

“It’s law school Lee. At best, we end up working for evil corporations to pay off our student loans. All the Professors did it, survived a long career being lawyers, then decided to torture the next generation.”
Quin was just glad that they’d pushed the due dates on that week’s assignments to the next week. Sure it had meant she’d had double the work, but with her ribs being like they’d been she hadn’t been able to do much else anyway. In some ways it had been her most productive school week in a while.
Lee continued to speak and as they waited in line, Quin frowned slightly at the older woman as she mentioned that Michael had been working at the mystic problem for a weeks before things had blown up.
Kealey, the little blonde, had been the only full X-Man on scene that day? God, it just kept getting worse, and Quin found herself once again surprised that she’d made it out as well as she had.
”You’d think Michael would have had more folks from SUPER involved…” she mused, ”It’s wild that they were in such dire straits…”
They were getting closer to the counter now and Quin already knew what she wanted.
Lee asked if she was really okay and the redhead shrugged, ”It’s definitely not the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.” she said. ”Made some friends in the process.” Quin added a bit uncomfortably.
”When things happen to me…I don’t freak out.” she said, looking ahead instead of at Lee, ”I always expect it to happen at some point, and I guess I got a little weepy that first night a couple times when I really thought about it…but yeah, I think I’m fine.”
At the counter Quin ordered, orange pikoe, not loose leaf, but still better than most places in the area and moved off to the side to wait for her order.
When Lee arrived, she shrugged, ”I think I’m broken.”
