The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam didn’t add anything to his defense. Liz said enough and Doc knew of Sam’s luck in situations like this. Though he did add a smirk when she said it wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t like he was looking for trouble. Trouble just happened to find him and then drag whoever else with him down.
”Extremists, nut jobs. Whatever you want to call them.” he sighed loudly and then mocked a yawn trying to coax Doc into asking less questions and heal more. It wasn’t that Sam didn’t want to talk to the man it was more he didn’t know what they were dealing with yet and discussing in hypotheticals wasn’t something he liked to dwell on, not until they had more information to go on. No, him and Liz needed to talk about what they had witnessed and start coming up with a file on the group.
”Is that what we are going to call them?” he asked wondering if it was a decided name. It definitely explained what they were after. Maybe he could ask around and see if anyone else had dealings with them. If anything Mike, aka Ranger might have heard of them. They weren’t shy about having armed goons.
”it does lay out their goals.” Sam said nodding in agreement. ”You’re welcome by the way.” he said to Doc who was still eyeing the wound that was steadily vanishing.
“.... Don’t fall into a habit of this Elizabeth.” Doc said before turning to Sam. There was hesitation on the doctors face as he eyed the icemancer. Debating if he should even heal Sam. “You’re just going to go out and break something else anyways aren’t you.” the doctor sighed and walked over to Sam eyeing the spot where he stabbed himself earlier that night first. It was clear Doc knew where to start. This was a favorite injury of Sam’s after all. A self inflicted one. “I do wish you find another method to break illusions and control.” Doc sighed loudly and his hands started to glow.
”Do you recall anything you saw Liz? Anything about Ragnarök? Or am I going to have to look up the end of days?” he asked wishing there was already a drink in his hand.

The ravens cawed and then one of them repeated Elizabeth’s words to Sam. “No no, Ragnarök was the name of an anarchist group around here several years ago,” she said with a ruffling of feathers. They were a matchstick that had burnt brightly and shortly and even though Liz hadn’t been in New York at the time, they’d still made headlines.
“I’m almost confident this group isn’t related,” she said, her words now coming from the other raven. “This was was secretive - the group named Ragnorak seemed to want credit for everything.” Then again, it was worth looking into, to see if there were any ties. Worst case scenario, Liz would have an excuse to bone up on Norse mythology.
“It was regrettably unavoidable,” she told the Doc. He gave Zorro a fixed look before he went to Sam. If Liz had been in her own body, her face would’ve colored. Unfortunately, she had already been to the infirmary too many times in the last year and half after returning to the mansion.
As Doc turned his powers to Sam, Elizorro stepped up to her body and pressed their nose into her hand. A moment later, she opened her real eyes and smiled down at Zorro. <<Good boy,>> she said, scratching behind his ears. She made no other move to get up just yet though. She didn’t doubt Doc’s healing power, but she was also aware that she’d just gone through the equivalent of meatball surgery and just felt like staying still was the best case. It just seemed like what she was supposed to do.
She started to speak and immediately coughed, her voice long unused and dry. She switched back to speaking through the birds. “The Norse Ragnarok was called the Twilight of the gods. Gods and supernatural figures kill each other. I think it was supposed to bring about the end of the world, too.” Huninn pecked at a wing. “Seemed like what Weltgeist was aiming for, anyways.”

The icemancer frowned slightly trying to recall the group mentioned. It had been only a few years but that was when everything started to spiral for him. Sam sat in silence for a moment. Chewing over the name and anything else the name brought up.
”Yeah, Welt didn’t even stand in for the end of the show. We don’t even know what he actually looks like. The guy who died on the sub seemed to think he was him. Had me convinced.” Sam paused for a moment and looked over to Doc who stopped healing long enough to shoot him a look. ”I didn’t kill anyone. The explosives did.” he said before avoiding eye contact with anyone again.
”Well he didn’t get it. No gods or supernatural figures showed up. Just us.” he smirked at the names they had used. ”And we are still here. Meaning it isn’t the end of the world yet.” Doc nodded his head after finishing his healing on Liz.
“I take it you’ll tell the rest of the team?” Doc asked curiously walking over to Sam and eyeing the man. “Self inflicted again?” he shook his head and reached for Sam’s leg which was still ice over. With glowing hands he added, “This is the stuff they want to know so we aren’t all surprised when you go missing again.” ”I didn’t go missing, I went north, and I came back.” Sam still avoided eye contact, ”Place was falling apart without me.”
“Sure it was.” Doc said rolling his eyes.
”This something we need to ask your boyfriend about? He thinks he’s a god right? This is in his wheel house, right?” Sam asked wondering if he could just hand off the group that wanted the end of the world.

The ravens, Zorro, and Liz abruptly turned to stare at Sam. “What do you mean we don’t know what he looks like?” a raven said, Elizabeth’s hackles raising. “We saw him.” The psychic flashed back to their encounters. No, he had definitely been there, it was no illusion. She had confirmation from all five basic, external senses.
“I bugged him, he was definitely there,” the raven said again. “Or do you think he was some kind of shapeshifter?” If so, that brought up many more questions. She’s never heard of a mutant bend minds and change shape - the mutant gene was variable, but evidence consistantly revealed there was almost always a connecting theme to the different abilities a mutant had, as if they were continually evolving to fulfill a niche. Psychic shapeshifters seemed beyond the known reality.
Liz didn’t try to meet Sam’s eye after his comment about not killing people. She noticed Docs didn’t say or do anything about it either. Liz…wasn’t processing it just yet. It also wasn’t something she would ever rub in his face. This seemed to be weighing on him. A conversation for another time.
The blonde shook her head with a rueful smile. “Oh Heavens no,” she coughed before switching back to the ravens. “Hercules isn’t exactly….subtle,” the birds crowed. “We’re not dealing with gods either, nor people who think they’re gods, present company excluded of course.” Her lips twitched into a smile at Sam’s expense. “This is some kind of paramilitary fanatic group that’s trying to chase down occult relics. We need experts in psychology, investigation, even magic and lore, maybe counter-terrorism for this. That’s…almost the opposite of Hercules.”

Doc’s hands shifted to the point where the shrapnel went through and the light emitting from his hands got brighter possibly revealing the extent of damage that was done. Sam did his best to ignore it. What he couldn’t ignore was Weltgiest.
”He could control me within seconds of having a conversation of him, I’m not the best against psychic suggestion but I’m certainly not the worst. He was calculating. Had an escape route in his office, he isn’t gone. He wouldn’t have blown up his own ship with him on board.” he felt he had a higher purpose. Ragnorok the end of the world. ”He’s the type of guy to have a dozen body doubles and an escape submarine.”
”I meant you think he knows about the “end of days”. I wasn’t asking him to take care of the entire problem. But I’m sure he’d try if you ask nicely. Big guy seems he can deal with a lot.” Sam chuckled. ”and does that mean you are volunteering for the position? Need someone to run the group.”
Sam winced as Doc pressed a little harder into Sam’s leg where the metal went through. Pain meant it was healing. The message was clear though, stop offering to enlist Liz in his shenanigans.
”I can ask Sabine and Mike see if they know the name or the group with the purpose of ending the world.” Sam offered knowing he trusted one far more than the other. Anyone who ran S.U.P.E.R. couldn’t be fully trusted. She was from his world. The one he left behind when he joined the mansion.

Liz cocked her head as Sam explained his guesses about Weltgeist. To her, that seemed like a lot of extrapolation. Then again, this was Sam’s field and his area of expertise. “If you say so,” she said with her own scratchy voice, fairly unconvinced but seeing no need to press the point. Whether or not Weltgeist survived, there was a good chance his organization would continue on without him. Yes, they’d alerted the authorities about the other two boats, but they had no knowledge if this was just a small part of a greater organization.
Elizabeth closed her eyes and settled back on the bed, exhausted. This was just so much to deal with and so much of it was so beyond her.
“I’ll see what he knows,”w Liz said. Sam was right, it probably wouldn’t hurt to ask Hercules what he knew of alternate eschatologies. “Let’s not get our hopes up, though.” She’d found that just about everything Hercules said about history or mythology was always perfectly…unique. Nothing controversial, per se, but nothing that was substantiated by any text. Still, his versions always made sense, even if there was no way to verify his accuracy.
Liz and the ravens jerked their heads toward Sam again. “Hu--” she said before her mouth clicked shut. She pulled her head back and frowned. She really had been acting like she was an X-Man, hadn’t she?
“I did not say that,” she said slowly, the frown remaining. “That’s a conversation for another time. Such as when neither of us has been bleeding from gunshot or explosion wounds within the last twenty-four hours.” Zorro trotted over and poked his head up over the edge of the bed so he could rest it on her leg. She patted him thoughtfully. This was definitely not the time or place to push that line of reason.

It seemed that Liz’s train of thought wasn’t the same as Sam’s. He raised an eyebrow as the lights faded around him. Doc was done healing. At least done healing what he would. A rib still remained fractured but that was Doc’s way of reminding Sam to take it easy and not push himself. Doc hated to be the one stop source to fixing Sam’s antics.
“Ah, good! Nothing to worry about then.” Doc said with a sigh or relief as he threw some sass Sam’s way. “He’s incapable of going a full day without being shot at.”
Sam smirked and chuckled in response. ”I’m pretty sure I can make it a day... not twenty four hours though.” he offered before Doc rolled his eyes and stepped away from the icemancer. ”Think on it. You handled yourself well enough for little to no training for the field. Under my guidance you could be the best.” Sam said laughing to himself a bit more.
Pushing himself up from the table he was sitting on he looked back to Doc and offered a nod followed by a ‘thank you’. Even if he wasn’t fully healed.
”Get some sleep Liz. Also recommend talking with Gemma when you are feeling up to it. Getting shot isn’t something easy to deal with. Standard practice for all the members on the team.” he headed to the door, ”Think on it.” and with that Sam headed to the one place he wanted to be at the moment. Bed.
