The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Having a child made field missions feel like a well deserved vacation.
Maya tore down the Mansion hallway with a file in one hand and a bundle in the other, leaving a trail of lavender scent (Iris' power du jour) behind her. There was a call for X-men intervention, and from what MRC dispatch could tell her, Sam was out of the question. Trying to rustle up whoever could help out, Maya went to the newbie files. Apparently, they had a trainee with appropriate powers. Good to know.
With her X-uniform thrown on an recently short-cut hair totally disheveled, Maya made her way to the dorm wing. She was already carrying her gear, bow, arrows and all.
"A'ziala?" she called, knocking on the dorm room door, hoping she was pronouncing the name right. She checked the file. Hopefully, this would work. "It's Maya. From the X-team. We have a situation."
Zizi flipped through her history textbook, a meaningless activity now that all her attention had gone out the metaphorical window. She wished so deeply that her mutation would have prevented her from being able to read textbooks, since her thermal vision changed the way she saw everything else in the world, but no cigar. She could still read and read in the dark if she needed to, since the words on the textbook still popped out enough to be read.
A few knocks on the room of her dorm saved her from having to continue. She hopped off her bed, put on her slippers, and checked herself out in the mirror first before checking the door. She had on a tank and short-shorts. Eh, she thought it would be fine to have on such a summer-suited outfit. The cold didn't bother her anyway.
>>"It's Maya. From the X-team. We have a situation."
She then went out to open the door and upon seeing a member from the X-Team in full suit, she began to tense up and almost shut the door in her surprise. Luckily she stuck a foot in the door, preventing her from doing that to herself.
"Wh-what kind of situation?" Her obliviousness to anything X-Team was due to her shyness and wanting to impress the group. She had only just recently entered the school and now she wanted to become an X-Team, but she was surprised to be greeted by one of the members outside of training and a friendly wave down the hallway.
"Also, you can call me Zizi if that's better." She said as she opened the door even wider to let Maya see that she had her full attention.
The girl who opened the dorm room door looked surprised to see Maya there. In fact, she almost shut the door immediately, but then thought better of it. She also looked young. Or Maya was getting old. Either, or.
>>"Wh-what kind of situation?"
"Something that needs your power set. I'll explain on the way."
>>"Also, you can call me Zizi if that's better."
"Zizi. Right. Nice to meet ya." Maya smiled, reminding herself not everyone was quite up to X-men speed yet. "I hear you are an X-trainee. There's a field mission I need a person for, it's temperature related, and I specifically can't take Sam. So. You're up."
She held out the bundle she had been holding; once her hand was free, she ran it through her hair and adjusted her archery gear.
"Cold weather suit. We had them made back when we found those dinosaurs in Antarctica... long story. I hope it fits. Dress fast."
