The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Eoin smiled when the weird girl cursed, like she'd finally gotten some life in her voice. Don't run in the halls or start fires? Well he'd managed to follow those rules, mostly, for his entire life, so it shouldn't be too hard to do it here. A School for mutants? Huh...
"A School for Mu'ants? is 'dat what it's called 'den?' He'd heard a little about mutants but his people were usually kept out of the loop and honestly he didn't know if they were real or not, he had never considered that he might've been one. 'I just thought I was just cursed or suttin'." He shrugged. "I actually thought a' was' bein sent to t'church or suttin." He had no idea what the word Mutant meant. It sounded kinda cool though. Mue Tent. Sounded like one of them pokimon things.
The loud one spoke again and Eoin smiled when he said he seemed friendly. "Tanks man, my people aren't used to bein' welcomed like 'dis, 'dis is grand. Usually we're spat on or treated like teeves and liars." I mean, they frequently were thieves and liars, but it was still rude to treat someone with distrust when you haven't even met them. "As for t'danger, I hurt me family by accident and 'summa 'dem were nat happy about it." Eoin sort've shrugged. He hadn't meant to do it and therefore he didn't really feel that bad about it. No point crying over milk that someone kicked over or however that phrase was meant to go.
"For her diet? What'ar ye'? A reverse vegan or suttin?" He looked at her eating raw fish like it was normal. Creepy. He'd only ever had fish fingers.
Xavier mentioned a team. Actually not just 'a' team, he mentioned the Team. They sounded important. Must be pretty good at whatever sport they play.
"What team' is dat den? Like a footie team or somethin? Maybe! I used t'play it all the time wit t'we-ans back home."
He hadn't played football in ages and he missed it. He always used to let his wee cousin win.
"Wait if 'dis is a school for mu'ants does 'dat mean 'dat alla'yas do weird shite too? Or do we all do t'same 'ting? Does 'dat mean I fly like you can?" He sat up, excited.
Eoin... he... didn't know where he had been sent, did he?
Her expression slipped as a frown tugged on her lips, and the spider mutant openly stared at the boy. Being sent anywhere without knowing what it was all about beforehand was just plain @#$%ing rude.
"Generally speaking, yes. There are other names, not all of them are nice. Some people prefer 'Gifted'." She set her fork down and clasped her hands together on top of the counter. "Anyone who carries an X gene is considered one of us."
She backed out of the conversation a bit, choosing to chew on another chunk of fish instead. Xavier was probably a bit better at consoling someone who sounded like that hadn't gotten the best treatment in life.
She was reeled back in by the diet comment. "You could say that, yes." She wondered how much to say, or if she should just throw out the usual dark joke... but decided against it. "My particular mutation makes it impossible for me to eat cooked, or processed foods. I live off of a Whole Prey model instead." She stabbed another chunk of meat with her fork. "Hence my warning about not eating anything with my name on it."
She allowed Xavier to tackle what the 'team' was, while she ate some more. She knew what he meant but didn't think she could explain well enough without being snarky.
Once the question of what they could do came up, she shrugged. "Some can fly. Some shoot fire out of their mouths, Some are super duper fast. It varies by individual."
Seven small black spiders popped out of her hair. They scurried down the side of her head, onto her shoulders, and then hopped and jumped until they were all on the counter.
"I am a spider mutant, in a variety of ways." With a twirl of a finger the seven jumping spiders started to turn in sync, lifted their back legs and little rainbow-colored butts, and started to dance.
Xavier, quite the talkative type, found himself at a sudden loss for words when it came out that Eoin didn't know what a mutant was. His mind glitched out for a second as Megan explained a bit. "Wow, then! I have... So much to show you! The history of it all! I mean... Oh man! the early sagas... The first Hero/Villain showdown in NYC... Oh, do you have a MyFace? I can send you some links so you can watch the videos on your phone!" He totally had a phone, right? Probably not, Xavier, you sweet summer child.
He smiled back as the other Man smiled at him, tilting his head a bit as he explained about how he was often treated. His brow furrowed. "Wow... Well, I can tell you that won't happen here! Everyone here is really nice! Well, avoid the Masochist, but everyone else here is really nice!" He frowned at the admission of hurting a family member. "Oh... well... If it helps, that's not too uncommon. People often don't know how to control their powers at first, and sometimes people get hurt as a result. That's why places like this exist! They teach you how to use your powers better while you go to school... Well, if you still need to finish highschool at least!"
He let Megan answer about her diet. It was a her question!
The team... THAT was a him question! "Oh, it's so much more than a football team! It's... A HERO TEAM! The X-Men! I'm a trainee for them, actually. We help fight crime in the city, and save lives every day!"
Megan answered about different powers, and he nodded along. "Yep! I can make things come to me, or get pushed away from me, among other things." He blinked a few times before deciding to ask the big question. "So... do you know at all what your power is, then?"

So many Questions. Eoin had so many.
So because she was a mutant, or 'Gifted' it meant she couldn't eat McDougals, Burger Lord or even Sausage Rolls or nothing? That must suck. 'Gifted'. He didn't feel gifted.
And according to the dark haired girl, 'Gifted' people were able to do a bunch of different stuff. She listed examples and as she went on Eoin couldn't help but feel as if he'd drawn the short straw. That was until several little bugs wiggled their way out of the girl's hair and onto the counter. Eoin knew there was something creepy about her. His face scrunched up a little. His power was pretty nasty but that was definitely bad.
"Do you just keep 'them'ens in 'der? You need't'wash your hair more afen, hen." He did smile when they started doing a little spider dance though. That was pretty neat.
"'Datis pretty cute 'doe."
He'd never had a problem with spiders and was usually pretty content to live and let live, but he couldn't shake the feeling of goosebumps running down his back at the idea of having them crawling all over his body. Fortunately one didn't need a special mutation or 'gift' to roll up a newspaper.
Xavier quietened down for a bit before erupting into another thunderous bout of sentences. Eoin sat forward a little, listening, or trying to atleast. He talked at a thousand words a minute. Something about heroes and villains. "Finishing High School? Never started it." He shrugged. The barrage raged on. Something about his face? If he had one?
"Af' course 'av gotta Face, you're lookin' at it." He pointed to his face with two hands. Then he mentioned that the team wasn't a footie team but some sort of 'Hero' team. Fighting crime in the city and saving lives.
"So yousen' run around in wee pairs'a tights and fight t'baddies?" Eoin laughed a little. "Ack, I don't know if at'd be my 'ting - back home 'am usually the one doin t'crimes. Naffin' bad just a wee bitta' shap liftin' and stuff y'know." He wasn't ashamed of the stuff he'd done. Sometimes it was for survival, othertimes it was for fun. Nobody was gonna miss a wee bit of stolen food regardless.
"So lemme get 'dis down pat - yer' a creepy crawlie..." he motioned to Megan and her dancing spider trope.
His hand then motioned to Xavier "and 'chu pushen'pool tings wittout touchin 'em, and abviously, fly." Eoin was jealous of the last part, but then he remembered how scary looking out the window of the plane was. Maybe flying wasn't as cool as he'd originally thought it would be. This was surreal though, the fact that they just casually existed while being able to do things like that. That was when the question moved on to him. He hadn't really thought of the words for what he did.
"What's my power? Isn't d'at a bit'af a rude question?! like askin' a girlie her weight?" He feigned outrage, paused and then laughed.
"'Am only joken yuh - A' make Zham Bees."
Better terminology probably existed but he didn't know it.
She simply smiled a bit wider, unnaturally blue eyes crinkling at the corners a little. "But if I washed my hair I'd wash all of the webs out too, and then where would they live?"
Xavier prattled on in the overly enthusiastic way he did, and she plopped her chin in a palm and focused on finishing off her meal.
"You don't have to join the team. It's an elective, not a requirement." She set her fork down and pushed her plate slightly to the side, silently calling her spiders back up her arms and eventually into her hair. "Only a few students ever really take the leap into becoming trainees. You can start up some form of education if you like, or, if not, the staff here can simply help you in discovering and making your power your own."
She shrugged at the simplistic way he described her power. She didn't need to go into detail.
Her expression remained somewhat flat right up until he explained his power in the barest sense. Then, a spark of interest.
"...Zombies?"
Megan sat up a little straighter in her seat if only so she could lean onto the counter more. "As is.... what? Raising the dead to walk again, or creating something akin to zombies?"
A small, annoyingly smart cat popped to the forefront of her mind. She could create realistic-looking zombies herself, though they were made from some kind of energy instead of rotting flesh and blood.
Xavier was completely accustomed to the presence and behavior of Megan's spiders at this point. He layed his chin on his palm as he watched them dance with a little smile on his face. For all of the scary vibes Megan often put out, she really was goofy when she wanted to be!
Wonder boy's eyes widened when he heard that Eoin had never been to highschool. "Ohh! You can be Juniper's study budy! She's going for her GED, and taking classes for prep!" Awesome! Juniper needed some motivation to keep up with her schooling, anyway; She never made class when he was out of town with Elke.
The Irishman had a laugh at the concept of being a hero. Xavier smiled. "It's so much more than that, but that's part of it!" He blinked a few times when he said he was a shoplifter.
...A Joke, right? He kept the smile on his face. "Hahaha! Well, I hope you don't run into me out there! I'd have to arrest you!" He said it as if they were both joking around about it; obviously this nice young man would never steal, right?
He asked about Megan's power. "Ohhh, It's so much more than that! She can make spiders, and, oh! She can see through their eyes, though it makes her nose bleed... And! And! She can make big spider legs on her back! It's super cool!"
He nodded at the power description that was given about him. That was about right!
His eyes widened and he paled for a second when it seemed like he'd possibly stumbled into a faux Pa. Oh no... He'd asked so many people about their powers! Was he just... going around offending people without knowing?! Oh god! Just as the panic started to set in, the other man started laughing. "Oh! Heh.... You got me!"
There was a long pause when the man said he made zombies. One blink. Two blinks. "L-like, Illusions of that sort of stuff? Like Hiyori, right?"

The room plunged into a macabre silence for a few seconds and Owen could practically see the blood draining from Xavier's face after he told them about his abilities. The silence hung in the air like a bad smell for a few seconds before the two of them broke it with pretty much the same question. The creepy girl, unsurprisingly, seemed less phased by it than young Xavier. Why wouldn't she be, she ate a diet of raw meat, she's was one step away from being a zombie herself.
"No, 'der the real dealio, proper Zhambees, no illusions or tricks - full'on night'a't'livin dead shit." Eoin stuck his arms out straight and moaned, impersonating a a zombie from an old horror movie or something. "All 'a needs a dead-bady."
"I mean, a' haven't really used it much but 'am assumin' they're real' He picked his booted foot up, placed it on the counter and rolled up his jeans to reveal four red but healed scars on his lower leg, from where one of his zombies had grabbed him 'a' mean, dey certainly feel real anywho." He put his foot back down.
He looked between both of their faces, examining the expressions.
"A' know it's prapper gross!" He almost sounded kind of excited about that.
"Nowhere near as flashie as bein able t'fly! ... Maybe a wee bit more flashie dan talkin t'spiders doe."
Eoin looked back up to Xavier. "Are ye' alright 'der pal? You look a'little pale."
Of course, of all things, Megan immediately started wondering about what possibilities a real flesh and blood zombie might hold. Of course, there was danger- the never-ending urge to find and consume living human beings and all that- but she struggled with that currently anyway, so it was a lot less hard to imagine than one might, well, imagine.
She ended up tapping her fingers on her lips, shifting her attention between Eoin and Xavier. What would a zombie taste like? Unless it was an old rotten body with well-spoiled meat, she couldn't imagine it tasting all that different. Plus, if it was a person already dead and reanimated, she couldn't exactly be charged with anything for eating the... right? Unless it was considered desecrating the dead or something.
... Was cannibalism illegal in New York? She didn't think so. As far as she knew it was only a crime in Idaho.
"I would love to see that someday." She doubted Xavier knew the terrible thoughts fluttering about in her head, but also didn't really care if he did.
"Must have been quite the scare when your power manifested. We do have a roving Therapist that visits occasionally if you ever feel inclined to talk to a professional about it."
She stood, grabbing her plate and taking it to the sink to be washed.
Real. Zombies. Like... dead people. Moving. The stuff of nightmares. For a second he may have gone pale, but that was quickly replaced by a look of concern. Sadness. He may have been rather pure in behavior, but the fact of the matter was, he bore a certain level of compassionate understanding within him.
If he had found out about this power by nearly harming someone, then he had likely been through a pretty traumatic experience. When he put his boot up, and revealed the old wound, it only cemented his thoughts in stone. "I'm sorry that happened, Eoin...It must have been terrifying."
His jaw absolutely dropped as Megan suggested that she'd love to see his power in action. "Megan..." Out came the look. That look that said I'm not mad I'm just disappointed.
He looked up to Eoin again as he started talking nonchalantly once more, and shook the sadness off. "Well... I'm sure it could have its place somewhere... There are a lot of unconventional powers that end up being useful. Maybe in the transportation of cadavers for scientific research? Anyway, Megan's powers are actually pretty neat! I've seen her climb walls and wrap people in webbing, and now that I say that out loud it's actually kind of terrifying." He said that with a wide smile on his face, as he hadn't come to terms with the statement as he spoke it.

"Well it wassa wee bit' scary sure, but it was nice t'see me Mammy again haha." He joked and then briefly flashed back to her zombified face bursting through the ground and her skeletal hand grabbing on his ankle like a vice before snapping back to the present. Maybe it was a little bit too soon still to be making jokes about it.
Eoin didn't need to be good at conversations to tell he'd made young Xavier uncomfortable. Megan however, sounded enthralled. "You get me a bady' an' i'll show ye' a Zhambee, deal spider girl?" He grinned at her. She mentioned something about a therapist. "Just a little question doe', what is a therapist?" His eyebrow was raised.
Xavier continued. Honestly, the way he was acting in regards to his powers kind of annoyed him. Why did his powers have to be conventional or useful? Little Xavier didn't seem to get that maybe some people don't want to use their powers to fight crime or help society. Maybe some people with powers just want to exist. "I dunno what a 'cadaver' is, but my powers do have a place - 'der place is right here, wit' me." Eoin smiled, and Xavier spoke more on Megan's abilities and what she was capable of, prompting Eoin to look back to her.
"That sounds so gross!' he said, enthusiastically. 'Tell ye' what Meg, you wrap somebady up in yer' web and 'den i'll show you a Zhambee. Oh, and you still have t'find me a dead bady." Eoin laughed and sucked the last of the syrup off of his thumb. "If it makes it easier, it doesnae' have t'be a human one." He wiggled his eyebrows at the possibilities.
"Deal." She lifted a hand to inspect her nails. They'd need to be repainted soon. "A therapist is a person who has trained specifically to help people work through a variety of problems. It could be anything from adjusting to a new environment to adjusting to a new power, as many of the kids here see him for."
Her eyes slid over to Xaiver as he gave her the look for her comment, and she stuck her tongue out at him. "What? I am simply showing appreciation for all of the varieties of mutations out there. Unless... you don't think all mutations are neat? I'm sure you must seeing how much you keep blabbering on about mine." She aimed a slightly-too-wide closed-lip smile his way.
Eoin re-captured her attention and she shot a genuine smile his way. "It is! You should see how I create my spiders. It's stomach-churning." Her dark brows lifted slightly and she giggled. One of the jumping spiders reemerged, dropping down onto her shoulder and then hopping onto the counter. She didn't look away from the dark-haired boy while he was talking. "Are you offering?"
The hand that had been tapping away slowly on her chin moved suddenly, slapping down onto the counter where her spider had been with a nice smack. One chattering voice suddenly went silent in her head.
"Well. Looks like I may have fulfilled my side of the deal. One dead thing. I hope eight legs isn't too much of a bother?" She lifted her hand, revealing a squished, but whole, spider. Legs still twitching and all.
She glanced at Xavier through her lashes, preemptively expecting some form of a comment from him. "It was going to die soon, anyway, I don't need a lecture~"
Xavier's jaw dropped when Eoin stated that he'd turned his mother into a zombie. He quickly collected himself, and radiated sympathy. "Oh, man... That's rough... Yeah, maybe you should talk to Gemma... Or Greg? I know a few people who talk to him, too."
The tall blonde had experience with this; some people deflected the pain of personal trauma with humor. There was no way being attacked by your undead mother didn't leave some marks. "Hey, and I'm here if you ever need anything as well!" He gave a reassuring smile before he let the conversation move forward.
He didn't at all notice any animosity toward his suggestion of power based civic service; it was a good thing that Eoin didn't say his thoughts aloud, or it might make the poor young adult hero blue screen. How could someone NOT want to use their powers for good?! He nodded in slight confusion at the Irishman's reply.
Megan got on him about not maybe appreciating all powers the same, and he frowned a bit. "I think all mutations are interesting... but I'm not ignorant... I know that for some people, their mutation has caused them a lot of grief. I know that I got lucky."
A perfect eyebrow raised as the other two got to talking about their own dealings. What was this now? Wait, who was she going to wrap up, now? Dead body?! His eyes widened as he opened his mouth to interject, but froze when Megan smashed one of her poor, defenseless children. Oh boy... Was he in over his head? This was getting morbid quick. He looked to Megan as she spoke, still frowning as he watched quietly.
There was that large part of him that was curious about how this man's power worked... He just wished that something didn't have to die needlessly to show it off.

A grin slithered across Eoin's face from ear to ear after Megan non-chalantly killed one of her creepy crawlies and motioned to it. He liked her style. He could tell the younger one, Xavier, was freaked out, and honestly it kind of made Eoin happy. It wasn't a nice happiness but something inside him was bitter about Xavier's attitude towards powers. But he could see it in his eyes, despite his disgust, Xavier was curious too. It was like he was covering his face but peaking through his fingers.
"Alright, watch 'dis, 'am like a really gross sorta Jesus but I skip t'tree day waitin' time." He laughed excitedly, rubbed his palms together and then closed his eyes. The spot where all the scars on Eoin's forehead converged began to light up a bright lime green. With a small flash the light seemed to spread through the scars like water through a pipe, and then through the veins on his neck, along his shoulder and then down his left arm. His hand moved as if possessed, contorting and snapping with an unnatural power, and an audible cracking noise came from the bones in his hand - little did they know this little bit of creepy flair was deliberate, in order to freak out Xavier.
The green began fading down his arm as it all rushed to the tip of his pointer finger and he very gently pressed it into the thorax of the dead spider. The Green energy left Eoin's finger and visibly spread through the arteries of the spider's dead body, spreading until they reached a focal point, inbetween the spider's 8 eyes. In an instant it uncurled it's legs and snapped upwards, standing upright again. Eoin put his hand on the counter and with a thought commanded the spider to slowly crawl onto his hand. He held it up for the pair to see. If Megan tried to speak to it or command it or whatever sort of spider voodoo she was capable of, she'd find the spider unresponsive. It was dead. And it belonged to him now.
Eoin tilted his head and with another thought he commanded the spider's body to dance exactly the same dance Megan had made them do when she had placed them on the table originally. "Ta-dah! Spider Jesus. A' told ye!" The spiders dead eyes stared forward the sickly green glow from it's forehead reflecting off it's black eyes, creating the illusion of a cat staring at a light in the dark, with Eoin's own forehead glowing in a similiar fashion.
"All-doe when Jesus' didtit it was prabably much more impressive seein' as his' was permanent and all" Eoin laughed, and psychically commanded the spider the mimic laughter by jiggling it's body and covering it's mandibles with it's forelegs. It was kinda cute.
Eoin looked at Xavier out of the corner of his eye, kind of hoping to see him wet himself. "D'ye wanna hold 'em, fly boy?" He held the hand with the spider in it out to the boy, and it waggled it's undead little arms like a baby asking to be picked up. "He won't bite ye' - unless i let him." A thought entered his head and he immediately said it out loud "Ah' wonder if he bit you would you become a zhambee too, like in da' moo-vees.". Eoin grinned, on badness.
Megan was not shy about her love for most things dark and dangerous. She was gleeful about it, even, and loved to embrace her own creepiness whenever possible. That was how one made it normal, right?
Seeing Eoin dive straight into his theatrics, with glowing body lights and oozing blackness, and an explanation for what she had assumed was a tattoo on his forehead, was right up her alley. She leaned in excitedly, blue eyes wide as her dead arachnid came back to life through someone else's influence.
"...Beautiful."
Eion earned a giggle at his 'Spider Jesus' joke, but she hadn't bothered to take her eyes off the spider yet.
"Utterly fascinating. The concept of passing around a zombie infection through a small bite." She hummed and sat back finally, crossing her arms over her chest as she let her thoughts run away with her.
Looking upon Xavier's face as it shifted from surprise to something else... Freaked out wasn't close to the right sentiment... No, Xavier was dissapointed, more than anything else, and he wore it on his face as he looked Megan's way. It faded as he looked over to see Eoin's smile. Well, what was done was done. There was no changing the past. Unless that was his next power growth. With his luck, it might as well be.
At least Eoin seemed to be enjoying this, and Xavier could resonate with a sort of pride in showing off that part of your identity. He missed the connotations in the Irishman's stares and grins, as he simply couldn't comprehend why someone would wish to cause him discomfort, and therefor was never one to assume that anyone would aim to do so.
If he was hoping to turn the tall young man green or pale, he would be sorely disappointed, though, as the lime light shifted, traveled and converged on the little spider. All he would see would be fascination. He loved to see powers work. He leaned in a bit beady eyes wide as he took in all of the details. He was transfixed up to the point where the new arrival asked if he wanted to hold it.
"Yes please!" He reached out to receive the dead spider, hearing Eoins ominous words and shaking his head. "Don't worry, I'd never let it bite me!" Provided he was actually given the spider, he would hold it up to face level and look at it closely. "Wow.... How long does it last? Do you have to focus on every little thing, or does it mostly act on its own?" It would become apparent that Xavier Legend was very far from a shaky child... Nerdy Boyscout was a much more apt description by far.
