The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She was still new to the scene. She knew that, and sort-of embraced it in a bumbling newbie way. Whatever feather had crawled up her butt to entice her to keep on going with the theft stuff after the first time was lost on her. There was Steph, yes, and there was a certain rush that came along with knowing that what she was doing was illegal, but for a good cause (sorta).
Whatever the case, she was here and dressed to kill and- well, no, that was a lie. She was dressed for somethin', but not to kill. White and pink hot pants, with knee high flat heeled boots, and a fitted pleather tank top on her upper half. Everything was decorated in small cartoon tuffts of whipped cream and cartoon strawberries. Even her mask. Her hair was curled and bouncy, she had a little hot pink cape. She felt great! Sexy and delicious and absolutely no one to see!
Well, hopefully. She sure hoped One in a Million wasn't gonna show up this time. The..uh... art she had chosen was probably a bit to mature for him given what she knew of his character.
The Hawthorn Gallery on 3rd and Cormick was a lovely little gallery that often had showings of many different kinds of art.
This month it happened to be all Erotica themed.
Busts of voluptuous women and men, sculptures of embracing lovers, paintings of bodies and parts galore in varying degrees of...uh... relations. It was enough to slap a rosey blush on her cheeks as she wandered along inside after hours, looking at all the pieces.
She paused before a picture that, like her outfit, involved a heavy dose of strawberry themed pleasure, and she sighed. Man, she really needed to give April a call soon.
She backed up a step and accidentally bumped a sculpture, which tipped over and broke with a clatter.
She panicked and scrambled for the various pieces, stooping to pick up the poor things fallen Johnson first.
Serena didn't think she'd ever get used to this whole patrolling thing. She mostly reacted to calls for mutant related crimes and helped subdue people, most of her nights were less eventful than most normal people would assume. It was really the small moments that mattered to her, talking to young mutants, directing them to sanctuary or the mansion depending on the person, getting a smile from someone that saw her. Those were the things that mattered to her, not that the adrenaline rush from thwarting crime didn't feel great or anything.
She was prowling the alleys on a quiet night, just keeping an eye out, debating heading home and going to bed or doing some writing when a crash was audible in a building attached to the alley... A jewellery store? No, it was quite ostentatious. Perhaps an art gallery?
She could only see dim lights in the windows, and it wasn't the sort of place that was likely to be open this late. The crash didn't sound like it had triggered any alarms or anything. She debated what to do, or if she should just call the police for a moment before deciding to investigate first. She mantled ontop of a closed bin and then used it as a board to jump and grab a hold of the edge of a fire escape, doing a little cat like dance to get into view of one of the high windows.
She didn't try to force it open, she peered inside and squinted to see what was going on in the dim light. She was probably an odd scene herself. White and blue costumedblondepink haired hero hanging from the edge of a fire escape, peeking into a building through a small window like a voyeur. Oh well.
Yep, nope. Darn thing was broken beyond repair. She wasn't about to try and track down packing tape to try and slap it all back together, either. She just collected the big broken chunks into a pile and dusted her hands of it. Good think insurance existed!
Turning from the accident back to her job, pulled back the edge of one glove to see the back of one hand. The name of the piece she was after was written there. 'The Dream' was her target. A very expensive little known painting making its rounds through various galleries. Given the price tag, she was sure it would be in a special area all by itself, probably with a bit more security. It was to be the most expensive piece she had ever tried to steal.
Didn't know why the client wanted it, either! Seenit collectors were pretty weird sometimes but had surprisingly deep pockets.
Shelby headed off into the place, slipping out a small flashlight so that she could read each painting name a little bit easier.
