Sam shrugged; this was the first time he heard about S.U.P.E.R. then again he never did ask who else was working with the police. He knew the police were to be trusted he was to work with them as an X-Man however any type of agent made him uneasy. Years of interacting with them.
”Odd. Must be the loss of ten years.” he said, ”First I’m hearing about them.” he said truthfully. There should be some sort of handbook for deaged X-men. Who worked with who and who to trust. Then again would any version of Sam trust an agent? Probably not but in his opinion that was a healthy choice, he found it harder to get a knife in the back if he kept his guard up.
”More than happy to old man, part of the job.” Sam said as he reached into his back pocket and lifted his badge his older self earned while training with the police. He probably should have started with that but then Manning could have done the same. Then again Sam never asked.
When both parties arrived the icemancer was a little more at ease fist bumping two of the officers he was in A.A. with. Yes, young Sam still went making it a good reminder there is such thing as too good of a time.
”So she goes back with you and then what? Can she get visitors?” Sam asked curiously wanting to make sure she wasn’t going to be tossed into a cage and forgotten about till someone decided she had a ‘purpose’.

Hugh could feel that there was some slight tension in the air. He didn’t know why Rime seemed so tense around the idea of S.U.P.E.R. From his understanding this universe wasn’t aware of the things that they used to do over in their own dimension. But maybe they heard rumors or whispers about their old way of doing things. Or maybe Rime just had reasons that were beyond the agent’s understanding. Whatever the case, Hugh wasn’t going to pry.
Mainly because he didn’t care that much. So long as the mutant didn’t get in his way, he was more than happy to keep things civil.
By the time the police and the rest of S.U.P.E.R. personnel arrived, he felt the knot’s loosen in his shoulders. They all arrived together, though the distinction was clean. His agents were clean cut, hard eyed, and clearly not to be trifled with. The M.R.C. were local law enforcement. They were used to these calls but their lack of grace was obvious. Didn’t matter. S.U.P.E.R. would keep an eye on them and recruit the best of their best. Soon they’ll have to rely on the agency more.
All according to plan. Or...so he assumed. It wasn’t as if he were sitting in the director’s office and knew the intricate goings-on of his workplace. He was a soldier. He just carried out the orders.
He watched as Rime fistbumped a couple of the cops, a show of his comradery with them. This cause a smirk on Hugh’s face, shaking his head as he turned to the agents and began to fill them in on everything that had gone on. Once the appropriate information was given, he smiled, joked, and patted a fellow agent on the shoulder as he moved past them. Lily was in good hands.
It didn’t take Rime long to catch up to him again. He inquired at Lily, seemingly wanting to know a bit more about her accommodations. Already a bit tired from the evening, he pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
”Yes. She can have visitors.” He replied. ”Listen, kid, I appreciate the help. But whatever you may think we are, we aren’t. We really are just trying to help. We’re the good guys. You know, the uncostumed, ones.” A slight smirk. ”We’re not the boogeyman.” He moved past him to head out, desperately needed a rowdy bar with some action. But he stopped to turn back to Rime again. ”You should check us out,” he said. He then flicked his business card to him. ”Could use a good agent like you.”

Sam didn’t like seeing Lily go with the agents. He knew why. They were more public than he was when he was an attack dog. It was probably why he was so uneasy now around them. They represented his past reminded him that he was at one time nothing more than a glorified ‘Yes’ man. He hated it.
When Hugh replied to him the uneasiness subsided a bit it was nice of him to at least answer the questions. It wasn’t like Sam was holding a gun to his head; general mistrust however was still there. Habit at this point, Agent manning had a sidepiece for a reason. Sam silently wondered how many times he had to use it when a ‘target’ like Lily got out of hand.
”Not all of us wear costumes. Helps with the flair though.” Sam said trying to point out his was usually just ice. Costumes weren’t always needed but they did serve a purpose. They help identify who he was and what his purpose was. His sunny disposition faded a bit when he was offered to check them out. He had no interest other than the safety of Lily and anyone else S.U.P.E.R. had in their custody. He had seen it before and was quick to identify the signs now.
”I’d rather not go back to being the boogeyman.” Sam said folding his arms again not going into detail on the information he just revealed, ”Glad you can notice talent though, already got a team though.” Sam said smirking and grabbing the card. He looked at it then pocketed it.
”I’ll be by soon to check in on Lily.” he smirked more now and gave the agent a slight wave before walking back to the police officers he greeted earlier hoping to get some more information on S.U.P.E.R.
