Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Varying scars that only add to his ruggedness. He has a deep scar on his palm from cutting his own hand to lure in a blood drinking vampire mutant, a thin burn scar line across his back from having to take down a light-absorbing mutant, and a bite mark on his thigh from some dog or jackal-headed mutant. The most grievous is an old gunshot wound he received from a sniper in his left shoulder. However that bullet was surprisingly made of water, “shot” by the villainous crime lord, Poseidon.

CharacterPersonality: Hugh isn’t really a bad person. It’s more that he is just a dick. He is good at what he does, he is handsome, he is charming, and he knows all of this about himself. Because of that, he can be somewhat incorrigible. This is especially evident if you come to him for assistance. He won’t let you live it down. Still, there are few better people to help than him.
However, despite how infuriating he can be, he is genuinely an amazing and loyal soldier. He fights for those who cannot defend themselves and will always keep innocents in the forefront of his mind. Sadly there is some varying degrees of caring when it comes to him and mutants.
Mutants are people. However, his belief is that mutants need to be registered and watched carefully until they have control over their powers. Much like any kind of weaponry, mutants need to understand that their powers come with responsibility that should be taken seriously.

History Of Your Character Hugh is a man who has always had to find his own way. Ever since he was 7 years old, he has only had himself to see him through the good and the bad times. When he was born, he was born to a pair of dastardly mutants, Tiamat the Dragon Woman and Skull Man. Both were mutants who had dropped their human personas long ago when they began to realize that they were better than them. It was their right to do and take whatever they wanted as mutants are the next stage of evolution. And it was a legacy that they wanted to continue in order to help bring the world to its knees.
When he was born, Hugh was their pride and joy. Though he looked human, which was somewhat of a disappointment, they eased their minds with hopes that he would be some hidden powerhouse that they could unleash onto the world. However, as the years passed and Hugh seemed more and more meek, they began to realize the truth with absolute horror: human. He was
human.
As it turned out, Tiamat had an affair when she and Skull Man had briefly separated to avoid being caught after a major crime. It was only a one-night stand with some handsome construction worker she had met in a bar. Now her indiscretion came back to haunt her with a son by the name of Hugh.
Unable to bear this disgrace to their mission, Tiamat was given a choice -- abandon the child or live with him away from her mutant family. Seeing no better option, Tiamat did the only thing she could do.
Hugh didn’t know where they were going that day. His mother and one of her friends drove him out in the dead of night, half-sleep and shrouded in a blanket. He dozed, not knowing where he was but trusting his mother. She had been distant the last few months so he was happy to spend time with her. Once they got to their destination, Hugh had been fast asleep. In the car, Tiamat exited and instructed her friend, Lapse, to work his stuff over the sleeping human.
The next thing Hugh knew, he was lying down on the porch, looking at a man he didn’t know. The tall, burly man with the thick, cajun accent, kept asking him his name and what he was doing there? Hugh wasn’t sure but there was a letter addressed to a Seth Manning in his hand. After reading it carefully, Seth paled and eyes the kid suspiciously. Not totally sure, Seth allowed Hugh into his home and gave him a warm bed.
After a blood test had proven that Hugh was his child, Seth took him in. However, he wasn’t exactly sure how to be a dad. At the end of the day, he was a bachelor who suddenly had a son. He did his best but there were many times where Hugh found himself alone and without any guidance. It was at that point that he knew that the only person who would truly be able to take care of him, was himself.
Hugh grew up with his biological father but mainly kept to his own affairs. He went to school, but he never really had his heart in it. All he wanted was to be outdoors, like his dad, building, hunting, and fishing. It was this want that steered him away from higher education and instead pushed him towards volunteering to the military.
It was here that Hugh found his place. That training, the discipline, the purpose, it gave Hugh everything he wanted and needed in life. He served as long as he could before, one day, a strange thought came to mind. A woman, a dragon woman...in that second he suffered a splitting headache. It seemed that whatever her friend had done to him had finally worn off. in that moment the first several years of his life returned to him and he understood what had happened -- his parents had abandoned him for being human.
It was earth-shaking news, to suddenly remember the parents that had abandoned you. Hugh didn’t know what to do with that information. He did his job, he served long, but he knew he had to return to the world to explore these people that had dared to leave him behind. It took research but when he eventually found news, he investigated. Skull Man, his father, had seemingly died in some battle with a group of vigilante mutants several years ago. His mother, Tiamat, barely managed to escape -- she is who he wants to hear from now.
Years have passed. He’s searched, he’s hired investigators, but nothing has come up. But it was during his search that he discovered the truly awful things they had done. They and their friends were responsible for a number of innocent deaths, all in the name of their egos. That was something he wasn’t going to stand for. That was when he caught wind of S.U.P.E.R.
His outstanding military record and his training brought him into the fold. He quickly began to excel in the organization, granting him a title of agent. He is well-respected in the office, sought after for most missions, and has a bit of a reputation for being one of the agency's top members; with eyes on directorship in the future. However, plans changed when a massive tear in space-time opened up a gate to another world.
Hugh was on the other side, working with SUPER when the gate itself shut down. He was stuck, with a SUPER that only had a quarter of its resources and mutants running wild. So now he is rolling up his sleeves and doing his part to keep the denizens of this world safe from whatever mutant threat they may come across.

Niko Kobayashi Sample RP:It was supposed to be a routine check. SUPER had tagged and worked with a mutant about a year ago. A Gwendolyn Wright that was supposed to be in control of her elemental and probability based abilities. She had developed them early but SUPER didn’t realize the extent with which her abilities would grow. It bordered on the level of magic. But she had control and so long as they kept playing nice with her, providing her a nice home, a decent job, they could pull her into the fold before long.
All had gone on well. Her previous check-in agents all gave her amazing reviews, so complete and utter control. But, as it turned out, they were being manipulated. Gwendolyn’s abilities had grown to such a level that she could manipulate their very thought patterns, suggesting different outcomes than what they were initially going to report. It worked out well for her...until she was assigned a new agent.
Hugh Manning was new in direct contact to her case, but he knew about her. She was often spoken of back in H.Q. The higher ups were practically salivating at the idea of having a mutant like her under their payroll. Hugh, however, was a bit more pragmatic than that. He didn’t think that far ahead. In fact, he didn’t believe anything until he saw it.
It didn’t take long for Gwendolyn to tip her hand. Before meeting with her, he began to trail her for several weeks. It was interesting watching as he manipulated the people in her world, taking what she wanted, leaving broken and confused hearts behind in her wake. That alone was enough to drag her in and put her in an isolation cell. But H.Q. wanted to make an example.
Hugh met with her. Almost as soon as he did, he could feel the effects her abilities were having on him. The persuasive words that echoed louder than his own thoughts. He would have immediately fallen victim if not for a special chemical cocktail that the SUPER eggheads crafted. It allowed him to maintain his facilities -- at least until he could get in position.
The strike came fast and hard. He and his team surprised her in the parking lot of a jewelry store where she had manipulated him into spending company money on some extra diamond necklaces and earrings. However, once again, she had been underestimated.
The power she displayed was...intense. Bursts of fire, torrential waves of water, his men and women thrown with a gesture. It looked like the end of days, but Hugh wasn’t going to back down. He wasn’t a mutant but he had his own set of particular skills that made him invaluable in these situations: he was as stubborn as a mule.
The play had been risky but it worked. While his remaining team laid down some distracting fire, Hugh ran in for the last hit. Dressed in the remains of his black tanktop, his slacks fully singed, and wearing a protective vest, he made a beeline for her while she was turned. He had gotten close when her gaze snapped to him and a hand was raised. He prayed under his breath.
When he saw the girder flying at him, he grinned. Perfect. It was an impressive sight. With a jump he landed on the heavy piece of metal, running up the length of it, closing the distance between them even further. With a final leap he pulled his handheld tranquilizer gun from his holster, aimed, and squeezed the trigger.
Landing on his side with a thud, he grunted as he lay there, breathing heavily. He waited for the end but it never came. Instead he heard a thud as Gwendolyn toppled from the air and landed hard on the concrete. She was down. She could be taken in now.
With a groan he sat up, shaking his head and running his fingers through his head. Already the police, press, and probably a few random patrons were trying to get a closer look. He merely smirked and stood up, holstering his gun as a police officer stepped up to him. With a sigh he pulled his badge out, flashing it to the cop.
”Joie de vivre,” he mumbled and flashed the officer a bright, charming smile, leaning more heavily into his Cajun accent.
”No worries, cher,” he grinned.
”Official SUPER matters. We got it from here. Just,” he gestured to the curious, growing crowd.
”Keep them clear.”The officer tried to pipe in. “But, wait…”
He turned around, heading to his team, but without leaving the woman with a,
”C’est tout.” That’s all. He was done talking to her...about business. But that would be for later. In the meantime, there was a mutant to bring in and, well, a mess to clean up.
