The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Xavier smiled bemusedly at his old phone before pausing at a moving image of a woman with a bunch of hotdogs bouncing off of her face. He sent a little squint Juni's way, and then jumped up as she lifted the couch by phasing it.
He got a first person picture of a kitten freezing in place, and then one of it mid jump at him, and another of the phone falling before he retreated to the other side of the room, and the kitten skittered under his bed.
The X-Men hopeful eyed juniper from his defensive position behind his punching bag, and then slowly stepped out, stopping a beat to tilt his head and say.
"Hey, there was a couch in the hallway at the school the other day... was that you?" Yeah... the Masochist had popped out to try and fit it into Sam's office... Oh, it might have been CS just wanting another couch. Why would the Masochist be moving it alone, though?
Hobos did strange things for fun! "Hey, how are your parents doing, anyway?"
Ah, well, they tried at least. Still, it was funny watching a guy that big try to hide behind a punching bag from a kitten that small.
She started to set the couch back down as X asked her about the other couch, and she couldn't help the scowl that suddenly appeared. "... maybe." Was it worth the energy trying to come up with a story? Nah. They went to the same school. He could always just ask that jerk what had happened and she'd be caught in the lie.
"... Yeah." She sniffed and nudged the couch back into the same spot it had been in before. "I may have overreacted to something and moved the couch just to be a pain. Possibly." It was nice knowing that it hadn't been immediately put back in the room though. She'd at least gotten back at him in that regard. "The jerk deserved it, though..."
Ah, @#$%, she hadn't expected him to ask her the same question back. "Uh... I dunno, probably still off in Hawaii somewhere." She shrugged one shoulder at him and gathered Berry into the crook of her arm. She'd need to put up the kitten in her bathroom for a while so that Clyde and he could get used to each other through the door.
In fact, she'd need to get her own list together of things she'd need to buy for the new cat.
Once the coast was temporarily clear, Xavier stepped out from behind the heavy bag, eyeing his bed for a little while before turning his attention back to Juniper.
Xavier gave her that look; you know, that look that said,'Really, Juni? You know I expect more from you," That one. As she stated he deserved it, Xavier's expression changed to a more serious expression. "He did? Did he do something untoward?"
Again, this filed back toward his general impression of the Masochist. Showing up to fight crime looking like a train wreck, cursing up a storm, and breaking limbs and property at every junction? With that information at hand, he couldn't help but think that maybe he'd acted in such a way that he might deserve it.
He'd still avoided introducing himself for that reason. He just didn't think he'd like the guy, and frankly, worried for the safety of his baby.
"Oh, right, you mentioned they lived there, now... Gosh, I dunno what I would do if I didn't talk to my dad regularly... Buy hey, I'm here if you need anything at all, okay Juni?"
Ah god, the look! She shot a squinted one right back at him for a moment and shifted guiltily on her feet.
Untoward? Uhoh. This was a situation she couldn't lie in or it might spiral out of control. "No.." She muttered quietly and because suddenly very interested in Berry and giving him scratches under the chin. "Nothing like that."
When she finally looked at him it was with an expression that clearly said she'd rather be anywhere but right there, answering that question. "He figured out my ID was fake and snapped it..." She was waiting for him to either laugh at her or for that look to return and become more intense.
"I got kinda peeved when he laughed at me and... maybe... sorta... kinda stole the couch right out from under him and left it in the hall..."
She shrugged again when he commented on her parents and scratched at her cheek gently with her nails. "We haven't really talked since... uh, since I moved out." She almost stumbled over her words but recovered after a moment.
"We were never really that close to begin with, though, so I'm not really missing much."
She... couldn't imagine it any other way, either. When she had been a little younger she had daydreamed about her parents suddenly just becoming different. Listening, caring. They kinda parents other kids had and complained about. To her, having a mom that nagged about cleaning her room or a dad who was trying to snoop into her blossoming relationship was a pipe dream. Something she could wish for but never achieve.
Her parents had hardly seemed upset when she had announced that she was moving out. Her mother had said something about it being a learning experience for her to get out on her own. At 15. Her dad had seemed a little upset, but not enough to stop her. Not enough to listen.
She had absolutely no clue what she would do if either of them suddenly wanted to be a part of her life again in any capacity.
"It's good that your dad is getting out though. I know you mentioned that he missed you a lot."
