The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Melissa was not the woman she had been even a few years prior. She had worked herself almost non stop, treated her bar like her child. Riots involving her mutant clients had leveled the place, even the old bomb shelter had it's limits. Insurance would not cover alternate universe hate groups either which had left her only with what she had in the bank. She was not broke But Melissa knew the money would not hold out forever but the idea of setting up a new bar sapped the strength from her convictions. She even missed fighting with the fda over her chef's being a mutant varmint.
It was this that had lead Melissa to a random bar for a drink she did not make herself. A a man hit on her and she in reply challenged him to a drinking contest for her hand. The eager man matched her drink for drink but Melissa did not even have a buzz when the man's head hit the bar. This proved a mistake as she got several other challenges upon the fall of the first. With a wistful smile she out drank the next two as easily as the first. She could feel the start of a buzz going as the busy bar continued. The next she made a sultry show slipping her finger in the man's shot, increasing the potency by just enough to make the man quick early.
Melissa knew she could out drink most people, her mutant power made getting drunk, actually knock out drunk very hard. She had used this for years to make her own brand of booze and sell it without fda approval of course. It also turned out when you turned water into wine by touch your body built up a massive tolerance to the stuff. Hydration was a much more pressing concern was before actually over drinking. The bartender however did not agree and was trying to make the move Melissa would of made upon seeing anyone drink as much as she had, cut her off. "Im not even drunk yet, i swear" she argued and while her words were not slurred the bartender was being adamant.

The icemancer shrugged when she wasn’t even that drunk she seemed drunk. Drank enough to make him want to puke and in his opinion that was saying something. Apparently in his older form he was an alcoholic. Apparently she drank enough to cause the bartender to walk over and say something to him. While he technically wasn’t old enough to drink in the states he did own the bar and have a pretty convincing fake. That and technically he worked with the police being apart of the X-men so he was pretty sure he could rob a bank and figure some way to spin it.
Sam chimed in to the woman who was sitting a little further down the bar from him. ”Hey, my doing.” he waved. ”You had to drink quite a bit before they had to let me know.” Sam stood up and walked around the bar over to the woman and her date who was looking worse off than she was.
”Current tender is gonna close out your tab and I’m taking over.” Sam smiled, starting up with two large glasses of water. It didn’t happen often that he got tagged in but he was also there in a ‘problem solving’ capacity seeing as the one of the mangers called in and they were down a bouncer. ”What are you two drinking tonight?” Sam asked trying to gauge how drunk they were. ”We got some bar food too. Steak and Eggs are on point.” he said smiling.

She knew the Talk. It was strange to be on this side of it however. She has certainly given simmeller lines, to those she thought trashed. By law every bartender had to do it. What struck her funnier was the guy delivering it looked quite young. His words made him seem like someone in charge though. "Oh him? she said glancing as the passing out man by her. "Yea he is smashed. Would you take the line i hold my liqueur well? she said her voice revealing the half seriousness in her tone. She let out a sigh, she only had herself to blame here.
She considered the question and when she had to think a moment she took it as a poor sign and another reason they were concerned. She barely felt it but perhapse she had gotten carried away. "Crown mostly, couple shots of jack and however many shots it took the to out drink the first guy" she said only realizing after the admission was maybe not the best idea. Maybe she was a bit more buzzed then she thought. She rubbed her temples a moment before looking the Sam in the eyes. He was cute, tho
"Food might be good, sure" she said thinking of her old friend. She was going to miss the raccoon man, but not arguing with the fda on him. "Hope your food is better then my old bar's food. " she said remembering just how much she had eaten that food. "I am Meslissa Xilx by the way" she said remembering her manners. The Location of the Midnight sun bar had been asking for trouble. located in former order held territory.

Sam smirked when she said, ‘oh him’ the guy’s eyes were starting to get heavy meaning he was going to pass out or worse. the young icemancer shifted his eyes back to the woman and smirked, it was one where he knew she knew the line wouldn’t work so he ended up raising his eyebrow. ”Last person that told me that I had to escort home. Like to not have a repeat if at all possible.” he said not reveling that said person also happened to be the other owner. The old man was surprisingly light and his daughter was already there, waiting for him.
Grinning more he looked back to his bartender that served and raised an eyebrow. His arms folded letting all the staff know that the underage owner of the bar was not impressed with the over serving. He’d have to have a talk with someone later. Or he could leave it to re-aged Sam. If that ever happened, at this point he didn’t want that. This Sam liked it here and he didn’t like being the one in charge of everyone.
”Food it is.” Sam said grabbing a small menu from the behind the bar. HE also grabbed two coffee mugs and set them out in front of the guy who was almost asleep and the woman who identified herself as Melissa. ”Old bar?” Sam asked wondering if he was talking to someone who got fired recently or just a regular who got kicked out for excessive drinking. Or maybe she was one of the employees that drank the stock. Either way.
”Burgers aren’t bad. Cook should have the grill up and running now so it shouldn’t take long. He also does a mean steak and eggs.” he said as he leaned back on the bar towards the pair, ”I mean, a mean steak and eggs.” Sam grinned. ”Spicy.”

"That's fair" she said. She liked to keep her actual powers quite but had claimed she could do anything from shoot lasers from her eyes, to steal one's soul. She had never thought it a good plan to let the average person know what she could do while running the bar. "Yea, no one wants to get their liquor licence taken away for that" she said recalling the worry. The coffee could help thugh she asked for water as well
"I use to own The Midnight Sun. A Pro-mutant bar inside order territory, not a great neighborhood at all but not many were going to attack a pro mutant buisness in order territory. Used my entire collage fund to make my dream real. Then the portal opened and super came and raided us. The house was packed, 10 pm on a Friday. Twenty Three died and the bar, and the bar itself was condemned and later demolished from the damage. Insurance refused to cover an extra dimension threat" she said shaking her head sadly, before being served a glass of water. She instead raised the coffee mug and took a long slow drink of the coffee making sure it never touched her lips, her powers did not effect coffee but it was habbit now.
"It was sad, my old cook was a very respected chef before his mutant power turned him into a racoon, FDA was all over my ass trying to make me let him go" she said politely leaving out the guy was fowl mouthed, easily angered and a perfectionist which played into her own natural workaholic nature well.
She smiled back softly, pushing some hair back off her shoulder. "So how did a good looking guy i would have ID'd in my bar run the place? sje asked curious as to his story as well. "I like spice, i look forward to it" she said looking over the man.

Water soon joined the coffee as Sam waited for them to order Melissa it seemed while she was over served she had been handling her alcohol well. He didn’t hear any word slurs or half blinks those were both pretty good give away to the state of some ones sobriety.
Seeing as they were the two biggest risks at the bar for being over served Sam couldn’t leave till they got some food in them and at that point he wouldn’t have to worry but when Melissa went into detail about her bar and how it went under he was kind of bummed out for her. That was a sad story and that was a rather unfortunate outcome. A raccoon mutant working the kitchen and agents from the other side of the rift raiding the bar. The premium must have been through the roof.
Sam himself had to pay for a few of the renovations to the bar out of pocket himself or rather his older self did he looked at the books understood something had to be brought up to code to be covered under insurance. Especially regarding mutants. In his mind if he was paying for insurance it didn’t matter what happened to the place it should be covered. Which was why he was such a stickler to make sure things didn’t get that bad.
”Surprised they could complain, if he was a mutant he’d be covered under the mutant discrimination act. Then again imagine there would be a bit of hair.” he said trying to imagine a raccoon wearing a giant body hairnet.
”Flattery won’t get you served again.” Sam said winking at her, ”De-aged.” he said thumbing his chest, ”Bought the bar a few years ago, I de-aged meaning I own the place now.” he said smirking. ”Now I’m more of the problem solver.” he smirked, and looked from her to the guy she was with. ”Steak and eggs it is.” he turned to the computer and punched in two orders not really waiting to hear from her if she wanted it or not. If she complained she did call him good looking maybe he’d put it on the house.

She smiled softly. He knew the laws. "Right. The issue had nothing to do with him being a mutant. It was the fur and just maybe the arrogant, combative attitude with pretty much everyone. He pissed off more then one inspector" recalling a number of incidents she had been forced to smooth over. It had been a nightmare at times, but she had known what the man had gone threw. His transformation had reduced his eyesight and as dexterous as a raccoon could be, they just were not human ones. Their FDA issues had also gone further then that, but location had really helped them out.
She laughed. "Wish i had, but no luck there. A year or two would of been nice. If you de-age younger then 21 can you still drink as you were over age once?" she said curiously. It made her think of trying to ID people. "Must make ID'ing someone tough" she said further considering it. She had heard of other being de-aged as Sam said he was.
"My parents wanted me to go to collage. Be a doctor, but i had a dream and She stopped a second. She had gone to lengths previously not to let it slip she was a mutant. She had violated that a few times. ...I took the money my parents had stored for my collage fund and made the Midnight Sun. I deliberately chose an area with the highest concentration of known mutant residences to ensure business. It worked out well. not that her parents would have ever admitted as much.
"Your looking at it really. Drinking drunks under the table to amuse myself mostly. They don't have a chance. Mostly I'm just board though, i was a workaholic so it has been strange to sit around" she said taking the glass of water and looking at it. She considered something, biting her lip softly. He had seemed to care for her old cook, then again she was not entirely sure if he was even old enough to drink. "Considered going back to Xaviers" she said having never shaken the idea it was a bad idea to have someone with her powers in a school full of kids mostly under 21. No she wanted a shower and the counselor there was an adapted.

The icemancer grinned; he too had an issue with the inspector any inspector really. He knew there job was to keep the laws and regulations in check for making sure no one that came to his establishment got sick but he did have a lot of issues with the attitudes they carried. More than once they asked to speak to Sam the owner not Sam with two eyes. They thought it was a bad joke till he had to demonstrate who he was the only way he knew how.
Sam shrugged, ”It does make it more difficult.” Sam agreed. He also had more sympathy for the deaged so he might have let a few people slip under the cracks when IDing people. However he didn’t verbalize it. ”Under the age you can’t drink until someone figures a way to tell.” Sam summed up, ”I’m not risking this place.” he enjoyed it here. As chaotic the place seemed he also knew it was good to keep both him and his older self-busy. Idle hands idle mind.
”Love me some mutant friendly bars.” Sam said nodding his head. Everyone had a right to get trashed at a place that made them feel welcomed. His bar was more targeted towards everyone. He never had an issue fitting in but knew that some mutants weren’t as lucky so when the ones with obvious mutations showed up he made sure they were always greeted with a smile. To this day young Sam only had to kick out a half a dozen patrons for some anti-mutant slurs.
”Mutant Manor?” Sam said dropping the other name of the mansion. ”I live there!” he said grinning his disposition lightened up a bit when she mentioned his home. There was no way she’d make trouble for him now right? ”Workaholic to alcoholic huh?” Sam mused, ”Sounds familiar.” he thought for a second, ”You looking for work?”

She could understand entirely and would likely have taken the same route Sam was. The fine for serving under age was a steep one and the loss of a liqueur licence could spell the death of a bar. The risk was simply to high at least until the goverment made a decision on it. She figured two that this had likely made a market for fake id's both for the actual de aged and those looking to benefit from the situation.
It took her a second to recall the other name for the place as she had not spent to much time there. "Really? I was offerd a chance to do that but i had a place and not a good idea for me to be in a school with under age kids" she said shaking her head. She would never serve under age of course even outside of a bar but her power made it easy for accidents to happen, even while asleep or someone to take advantage once they knew. She realized a moment later her phrasing was poor and let out a sigh lowering the water glass.
"Had not considered it actually, but if your offering me a job, I am willing. " she said taking the straw from the water. "My power makes it very hard for me to get drunk" she said dipping a finger in to her water and concentrating a bit, as she moved her finger in a small circle to touch as much of the water as she could. "My skin turns water into alcohol and with a little concentration i can control the proof of it. You old enough to drink? she asked softly offering the glass of newly made alcohol only if he told her yes. "It also provides me with considerable tolerance but it also does not turn off. Makes taking a shower tough, though Miss Gemma helped with that a few time sin the past. I don't like to bug her on it though." she said usually taking salt water baths so she could be clean and not smell like a bar drunk after. Still it was nice to use pure water under the counselors guidence.

Sam smirked. ”We’ll call it a trial run after a informal interview.” Sam said watching the woman remove the straw from the water before poking then stirring the contents. ”Are you drunk?” the icemancer asked as he looked at the glass and reached for it.
Was he old enough to drink now, legally? No. However, he did and considering how he was raised he didn’t see any harm in it now. Did he drink when the place was crowded? No, not usually but he sniffed the drink after he grabbed it. Was he going to drink this now? Defiantly not. He was still pretty fresh from his escape from T.A.T. just like them to use the honey pot. Use an attractive woman to make him drop his guard. It wasn’t going to happen again.
Paranoid, the now teenager shook his head. ”I can smell it, good enough while I’m on the clock. Bet it would knock me on my @@@.” he looked back to the woman when she mentioned Gemma. She was a kind woman; Gemma was also someone he heard was a good judge of character.
”Great lady.” he smelled the glass again and sighed. If she was cool with Gemma… he took a small sip of the glass and stepped back as the food was placed in front of them. He ordered too, even if he didn’t recall she ordered it. He was under the impression they were both drunk.
His head shook as he swallowed the drink and looked back to the woman and laughed a little. He raised the glass then placed it down in the sink so no one else could dink it. ”Impressive.” He moved back towards the counter to make sure the steak and eggs looked good. They did. His cook was pretty good. ”You eat that, then we can talk about a day for interview.” he looked over to the guy she was drinking with. ” How is he going to be?”

It had been a long time since she had done any type of interview though she had done interviewing before. She just smiled as he asked her if she was drunk. She thought about the kiddy pools she had used to make much of the liqueur she had used in her own bar and wondered how he would have thought of that.
When he showed reluctance to the drink she had considered showing it's rather high proof by lighting it on fire like some shots but it seemed mentioning the Mansion woman bought her some trust. "With A little fruit i can flavor it some as well " she said. She agreed entirely Gemma was a great person, busy to from she would guess.
She began eating the served food it did taste good and she did realize it had been some time since had eaten much. Her diet was erratic out of more forgetting to eat then actual intent. The food was good and she found herself wondering how much cash she would of made with food people really wanted at her own former bar. The water she made sure to drink from the straw slowly to try and make sure none of it touched her cheeks which would then make it into the equivalent of beer.
"He will be fine, his vains look normal, so no alchohol poisoning. I have had a lot of practice. Knocked out more then one violent Mutant that way. His hang over won't be fun at all however" she said pretty sure the man would be fine. She had never killed anyone yet, despite being tempted to once or twice but her own venue location and pro mutant stance had meant Sanctuary's reputation had helped.
"It's kind of amazing this city still stands considering all the stuff that seems to happen here" she said thinking aloud. "seems every nightmare finds its way to new york" she continued as she ate.

”Interesting.” Sam said wondering how many hoops he’d have to jump through to sell something that a mutant made using her powers. Would it test like normal alcohol? It didn’t matter that could be older Sam’s issue if he aged back. Maybe he did have to look into it.
Sam leaned on the bar a bit to get closer to the pair of them. His eyes shifted from her to the drunk guy he was now concerned about. ”Violent?” he tilted his head to the one who was now eating the steak with his hands. It was good steak. Sam was willing to separate the two if this guy was a problem. No one should ever have to deal with that. Whatever the guy did now he only brought on himself. Sam didn’t have much sympathy for drunks considering his older self was one.
”Was this all at your bar?” Sam asked wondering how many violent mutants she dealt with. Was she an X-man he didn’t know about or was she another vigilante like Zero.
He looked back to her. ”Bleak outlook. Not wrong though. Heard this is where dreams are made as well. Or is that… Vegas…?” he wasn’t sure but he felt more engaged with a potential employee than what he was doing before hovering over his phone waiting for a text.
