The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Malcolm had finally made it to the Mansion: the ever mysterious mutant haven. He was trying so hard not to fanboy but mutants. Part of his promise coming here was that anything he wrote would get checked over before leaving. He was not to, in any way, endanger the people who lived here. He was a writer. He could totally handle that. Part of the responsibility of the written word was having a bit of accountability and understanding that not everything was destined to reach print.
That didn't mean he couldn't be a little bit nerdy, however. He ran into a small kid somewhere inside the front doors who showed him to the living room while he waited, and she had these voices in her head and it was the coolest thing ever. Just, voices to help sort out all the things around you, help you think? Man, Malcolm would kill for super powers. Well, not really kill, but he would seriously risk self-injury if it meant becoming a mutant.
"Your appointment is running late, it may be up to an hour. Do you still want to wait or...?" the kid was relaying. Malcolm smiled and waved her away.
"I'll be just fine! I can chill here. Thanks for your help!"
She wandered away with an un-amused expression, and Malcolm went to sit on the nearest couch.
What was there to be upset about? He was in a school for mutants. In his childhood, he dreamed of someday coming to one of these places and pursuing an education while also learning to control whatever superhero abilities he would have inherited. In the end, there were no powers. But he was a writer, and he could just live through the written word. He took out a notepad, and took notes on mental based mutation ideas. If nothing else, he would have plenty of material for them to rip up before he left!
Her training/therapy sessions had been really intense recently for some reason. Not that she was complaining, it was a really good excuse to stretch her limbs and get back to feeling like she did before somehow ending up in the wrong universe. She mainly just wished she wouldn't keep attracting an audience.
Especially when some of them were students, which was real weird.
Drying off her hair after her post workout shower she was wandering aimlessly through the mansion when she spotted and unfamiliar man sitting in the living room. A man who was looking around with such wide eyed curiosity it was almost like he was a kid stepping inside a sweet shop for the first time. It was kind of adorable to be honest and pulled at her own curiosity enough to walk over.
"Hey there, you waiting for someone?" she began, wrapping the towel around her neck as she stepped around the sofa, "or you just here to hang out and glance around like a school child?" Cait added with teasing tone.
As she sat down she got a better look at the man and well, he was not too bad looking at all. Older than herself but not by a huge amount and he did have a pretty strong jaw and while she couldn't be sure but he looked like he wasn't a slouch when it came to his physique. Of course that was purely academy interest on her part. Nothing more at all.
Malcolm looked up in surprise when he was addressed, and flashed a smile. He didn't even look sheepish at being called out for his curiosity. He was always curious, after all. It was better to just own it. "I am waiting for someone, actually. But, it seems their meeting is running a bit late so now I'm...continuing to wait."
There really wasn't another way to put the situation. He laughed and held up his notepad.
"Malcolm Sterling, writer. Just here for an interview. Do you live here? This is really a fascinating place if I do say so!"
If she lived here, it would be almost guaranteed she was a mutant, which would have been incredible. Malcolm resisted jumping straight to that $100 question. She was nice, one way or another, with stunning hair and not a bad build. Malcolm was glad he looked relatively normal today. Not like an overenthusiastic fanboy. Normal fanboy! He could handle that!
