The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rayne could have guessed that a lot of people spoke English over in Japan since they probably had a lot of visitors from here. With their traditions and nature and different culture, its like another world. From what shes been told anyways. Plus while she is there she wants to study some old texts or lore's on their mythical creatures. Its something she wants to try to shift into one day.
Shaking her head slightly, Rayne grabs some of the things she needs from this isle before answering. "No where in particular really. Just around. I don't like to plan and then keep on a schedule in case I find somewhere else I want to check out or stay longer in one place." When he offers to teach her a few phrases Rayne gives him a small smile. "Thanks, I haven't started my online course yet but I might take you up on that offer one day."
Rayne checks her basket then grabs her phone and looks through it to the list to check what she needs. "Ok I only need....1 or 2 more isles? What about you?" Looks at him when she asks. Wants to know what else he needs to see if she can help.
Zaid considered her statement, and decided it made sense. "I haven't traveled enough to really know what I would do. My parents always had a plan when we went places, but my mom was just a very organized person. I'm pretty sure she had check-lists for her check-lists." It was a fond memory to think of. She would have thought his lack of order in this store was maddening, honestly.
Zaid found a cheap package of sponges, then decided on a somewhat more expensive one that was a bit more eco-friendly. While a lot of his clothing and even some of his belongings probably geared away from the mindset, Zaid at least tried to find cruelty-free packaging in his choices. Besides, the logo was a bunny. Being part rabbit himself did push for certain principals. Even if it meant putting up with a surprising number of essential oils getting thrown into things.
Shaking off the distraction, he drew back to what she was saying, "I've never been one for adventure, but I'm learning to enjoy it more I think. Having a more outgoing boyfriend does that. He has dragged me to a few different restaurants, always something I don't expect. Japan has so much to see, I think if you wander you may find places even I never knew about."
There were temples, and stores. He wondered what it would look like now if he returned. Would it feel the same?
"Even if you take online courses, maybe try to find someone online to talk to? You'll learn a lot more conversational Japanese if you practice. I had trouble adjusting when we came to the States at first because so much of the language is much more informal than what you learn in school." Zaid admitted.
He looked at his basket, and considered. "I think I got what I came for, but I feel like something is missing. Maybe Laundry soap...and a mat for the entryway." He would measure for a proper shoe rack when they figured out what the space looked like, but at least a mat for now would be good.

"I stood out as the new kid here when I first moved, it wasn't fun. Things might be different in Japan but for now, all I have is what I got here." Rayne grabs a new scrubber before moving a bit down the isle and grabbing a packet of sponges. When she learns that hes got a boyfriend and nota girlfriend, Rayne doesn't judge even for a second. In their world of humans and mutants, judging someone for who they like is like judging your own kind. "You're boyfriend should keep taking you out. Don't let the people here scare you to staying inside. Be you and not them."
When he starts speaking about speaking with someone who also knows Japanese, Rayne gives him a slight grin. "I'm kind of an anime nerd so usually I watch subtitles or English dub, which isn't as good as the real thing, but for now its all I got."
Glancing at her own cart Rayne considers what else she might need. After consideration, she doesn't need anything else he does, which is unfortunate since she has enjoyed talking with him. She always shops alone, since unlike him, she has no boyfriend. Then again its also a choice. "Those are just past the isle we were just at unfortunately and I already got my stuff there. Maybe I'll see you around again?"
Zaid knew how it felt to be the new kid, but that wasn't perhaps a story to tell a complete stranger. Dropping out of school because people were jerks was something he had trouble even mentioning to Jude. He did give a sympathetic nod in the end. "No, being the new kid feeling out of place is a pretty universal thing, I think."
He felt a little lighter hearing her encouragement about eating out, and rather, just the uplifting attitude in general. It was always refreshing when a stranger reminded you there was good in the world and to ignore the haters. "I'm pretty sure he will keep it up. Although he will have to save the steaks for eating with friends, there are certain things I can't stomach," he admitted. He wouldn't force anyone to be a vegetarian for him, but the rabbit genes seemed to hate the idea of eating another animal other than eggs.
At the mention of Anime Zaid smiled back. "Total Ore Warlock was one of my favorites to watch when I could. I was watching it online a few months back for fun. I like the subs more than dubs. Although I know it must be a different experience when you have to read the translation."
As nice as the talk had been, it was clear they were at a parting point. "I appreciate the help, really! And who knows, maybe we'll cross paths again. The city has a way of throwing people back at you when you don't expect it."
With that thought he started toward his next stop, and finish up his preparations for the new move.

Rayne nods to him. "Yeah I guess the bunny genes would make it troublesome to watch someone eat a steak in front of you." She has no problem with that seeing as all her animals are predators. Rayne might not have her animal attributes on the outside like he does with his ears, but she does know about being different and sticking out, so all she can do is suggest not hiding. Hiding does no good.
"When you are forced to read the subtitles, that's what you have to focus on the most. Not the animation. It takes away from the episode." Watching the dubbed versions lets her see the anime itself. Not just the words. She can see the whole store and not just bits and pieces when she is through reading.
Rayne had to agree with him, that this is where they parted ways for the day. What she needed was elsewhere then where he was headed. "Yeah, this is where I shop when I need things, so for sure I will see you around here. Till next time." With that, Rayne pushes her cart towards a different part of the store, where the hardware is. She is in need of a new microwave. Hers just went...byebye.
