The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Emily felt a little pang of sympathy for the boy, of course he was worn out with his day. She couldn't imagine the situation he was in, and being grilled by police was probably not a fun experience. The officer that dropped him off had been really nice and very genuine, but Emily guessed that even with someone that nice all the procedure and the natural intimidation of being driven somewhere by an officer had been more than a little draining. "We can deal with that later though, there is no immediate rush. I'll show you around and get you settled first."
Some people had implied before that it was an unfair advantage that Emily had when speaking to people that she could sense emotions, she told those people to sit down and shut up. And unless she was in a formal situation where ethics were actually a concern, she had no qualms about not walking around with an 'I'm an empath' sticker.
Emily chuckled. Of course he was hungry. "How long did they keep you at the station? I'm not surprised you're hungry." She smiled at him again. "We'll go make some sandwiches then, I've not eaten all day either."
Emily was helping to make a bad situation for William, tolerable. There were things that needed to be done, but she was letting them be pushed off until later. While William was never one for procrastination, this was a time that he felt delaying was beneficial. It would hopefully be the last time he would have to answer all the same questions again. It would also be under better circumstances. And he did not have to do it right away.
”That… Sounds great.”
How long was William at the station? He had not checked a clock at any point. ”I am not sure. It was several hours at least. It was maybe… Just shy of noon when they took me in?” William said, questioning it as he said it. He had woken up in the garage in the morning and the sun was high when he was taken to the police station. It was sunset when he had been brought to the mansion. ”So… All day.”
At the mention of sandwiches, William’s stomach growled. Loudly. William gave a small, embarrassed smile. ”Sandwiches sound great.” Hopefully they had what he needed for his favorite. Pastrami with mustard on rye. Normally he had to settle for a some plebeian sandwich on white bread. In the current situation though, he was a beggar so he could not in all fairness be a chooser.

Some days, okay most days, Emily wondered if she was cut out to be a counselor. She just went into it because she figured it made sense really, with the power and all she figured a one on one vocation would be good.
But spending time with a kid she could tolerate, and actually feeling like she was helping him was doing wonders for her self confidence. She smiled at him again and carried on leading the way to the kitchen, occasionally pointing to an area here and there. "As you can see there are plenty of places to hang out. Quiet common rooms, busy common rooms, the grounds, a pool." She didn't know why she brought up the pool, it was freezing outside.
Chuckling heartily Emily led William into the kitchen and glanced around. It was relatively empty. Which was easy this time of day, this time of year. It was a huge space. She moved over to one of the fridges and began pulling out ingredients. Emily couldn't cook to save her life, but she could make a sandwich.
Emily led William through the mansion pointing out places as she went. Common rooms, the grounds, things like that… And a pool. William perked up at the mention of a pool. He enjoyed swimming. It was a relaxing way to unwind and get some sunshine at the same time. Good way to get, what his mother referred to as, photosynthesis. With the temperature outside being so cold, William found it a little odd to mention the pool. ”Is there much of a polar bear club here?” William asked with a look on his face indicating he found the idea of an ice cold dunk in a pool to be an absurd event.
Finally in the kitchen Emily made her way to the fridge. William found himself a place to sit at one of the counters. She asked him what he would like. ”Pastrami with mustard on rye, please.” William said, remembering his manners. He wasn’t the biggest ‘please and thank you’ kid, but it was useful to observe pleasantries.
As William waited he asked, ”When would I start classes? And training?” The training being the most interesting part to him.
