The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It never surprised Erik how easily certain people interpreted statements into compliments and others you practically had to smack them upside the head with a brick to understand you were being nice. Thankfully this Shin seemed more of a laid back type.
Him a ladies man? Yeah he wasn't going to touch that comment in the same zip code let alone with a almost total stranger so he grunted it off and shrugged. He also certainly wasn't about to dispel the man's illusion of him being old enough to legally drink. Even if the thought of how much it would take with him being a slarge as he was would be amusing.
"Puts a whole new spin on party crashing doesn't it?" Just imagining busting into some too loud frat party and downing their entire keg was an enticing and entertaining idea. One he would have to file away for future use.
"Look at the fancy X person with a high society wife. Please tell me you don't have a sweater vest hidden in some dark closet somewhere. Your wife probably threw them away." Chuckling again at the imagery of shin in a sweater vest. Most teachers he had ever met seemed to be rather down to earth almost boring sort. He was glad Shin had some personality.
"I prefer to learn things at my own pace and own discretion. If I want to learn about advanced manufacturing techniques involving exotic alloys that is what I want to do. Not get stuck learning about when two trains meet on the same track leaving different stations at different speeds. Not that I couldn't do that too. It would just be boring." Then in a more humorous tone he looked to Shin and added. "Besides I don't think the desks would fit someone my size." Grinning at the man before laughing some and shrugging.
"Why teach? Other then a bit of masochism anyway?" The big red seemed genuinely interested or was at least exceptionally good at faking polite conversation with a semi concussed individual.

Shin laughed at the party crashing comment, but didn’t have any more clever comments for it.
”Don’t now about sweater vests. But Kealey is pretty good about helping me make wise decisions regarding fashion. Doesn’t throw clothes she hates away... unless I haven’t noticed.” He shrugged.
Was she the type to do things like that? She did feel strongly about certain things, like shorts and no show socks. But she’d never throw away his clothes. She’d tell him to toss them, and leave it up to him to do the job. He’d always been somewhat fashionable, though. Even before they’d let. Maybe that was another reason they worked?
He smiled a little at Red’s joke. Then, they moved on.
He listened to the man talking about his learning. Guy had jokes. Shin smiled wryly at the comment about desks. He shrugged one shoulder.
”We could always have one commissioned.” He said mildly. ”As for teaching... well, it is rewarding. Probably doesn’t pay as much as it should. But you help people. And you learn a lot about the world, and yourself.
They reached the convenience store, and he stepped inside. The two men lurked, but did not bother them at all. Shin nabbed an energy drink from the case, and a bag of crunchy Cheetos.
He looked to Red, having completely forgotten what his original goal at the store had been. ”Want anything?”

The big guy gave an upnod to the two guys hanging out in front of the store and managed to wriggle himself inside by hunching and the grace the place had one of those double door entries. Still he only went in just far enough to stand in the fairly open entryway while Shin did his thing. He wasn't about to embarrass himself by knocking all the stores shelves over with his bulk.
"Could you grab me two of those big bags of beef jerky? Ill pay just.." He indicated the width of the aisles versus his own width to much the amusement of the proprietor who was just as thankful for the discretion.
"I imagine teaching is more interesting then one would first assume and with all important jobs the pay is crap eh?" Smiling and shrugging and handing the man cash as he extracted himself from the aisles.
"Not sure I qualify for teaching credentials or even as a student." Rumbling out a chuckle. "Aside from occasionally helping people I tend to keep to myself. Even before I stuck out like a huge red thumb that is. You sure you don't want to grab some Asprin, just in case?"

What was it Shin needed again? The walk to the place had been so long and with such varied conversation, it took him a minute of wandering around before he decided it was probably coffee. And an energy drink.
He filled up the coffee, made it like he liked, grabbed an energy drink and... grabbed a bag of chili cheese corn chips. And a fruit pie. Don’t judge. He’d been injured. He needed his strength. He... tossed a second fruit pie into the bag. For red. Cherry. And a snickers in case red didn’t like cherry. After a second, he remembered the man had actually asked him for some beef jerky. Well. He was getting more than he’d bargained for. And he was getting it for free. With some of that Teaching Money Shin has. Or else, Kealey’s rich fashion designer cash. He was a kept man.
#blessed
He grabbed the beef jerky. Got himself a teriyaki jerky too.
He paid, and sacked it all. In two sacks. As he was making his way out, Red passed him some cash. Shin raised a shoulder in his own shrug, and handed Red a bag full of jerky, a cherry fruit pie, large snickers, and a bag of potato chips. It would be heavier than the guy expected, but what with the throwing of cars, Shin had no doubts the man could handle it.
He sipped his coffee as they headed out. He was beginning to feel human again.
Red commented on teaching, and Shin smiled at him sheepishly. He had just been thinking similar thoughts.
”Teaching is cool. Keeps you on your toes.” He agreed. ”As for cash. Um... wife is loaded. We do alright.”
As far as teaching credentials went...
The man asked if he wanted aspirin. He’d forgotten aspirin. Did he need aspirin? Shin took a looooong sip of coffeee. Then, he turned and went back and paid highway robbery for a teeny packet of pills.
As he came back, he cracked open the package and took a couple with coffee. Smiled.
”Good call. Anyways, teaching... I dunno. Pretty sure not everyone has teaching degrees.” He held up one finger on his free hand, the one that had the bag in its grip, and shushed. Like ‘don’t tell.’

Red glanced down at the bounty of goodies from the ridiculously small (at the moment) asian man and the even smaller bag and grabbed it with two fingers and shrugged. His momma always taught him never to turn down free food.. or something. It seemed like something his mother would say and he was a food disposal unit. not much escaped his clutches.
At least this teacher was doing alright even by circumspect means. Even though they just met he didn't figure the guy wanted to get into a deep philosophical discussion about disparity of income between important professions and busied himself with munching on some of his jerky while he waited for the main to get his pills of disparaging economic worth.
The big man chuckled at the in joke. "As long as everyone passes the standardized testing and keeps the 'dangerous mutant children' off the streets they don't look too closely eh?" An embittered tone to his voice before sighing and munching some more. Looking about and seeing as he didn't have anywhere in particular to be looked at his new friend.
"Where ya headed? Been an interesting conversation and would hate to end it so abruptly." Grinning his pearly perfect whites at Shin before shrugging as he was brutally honest.
"Think I would rather teach at this point. The school of hard knocks has taught me alot and if I could keep others from enduring the same trials it would be worth it I think." The light tone damping just a bit before he shrugged again.

Either it was the coffee, or else it was the pills and they acted fast. Either way, as the conversation continued, he began to feel better. It was probably the coffee. The price of the pills was enough to make anyone have a headache. Irony of ironies, what were they even good for?
He smirked at the comment about dangerous mutant children and said ”Eh.”
Dangerous mutant kids were dangerous, sure enough. It still impressed him the school was up front about their existence. If it had been him running it maybe he’d have camouflaged the whole place behind a wall and covertly brought in new recruits using that big brain time computer thingy they’d dismantled not too long ago. The thing that had turned off the better part of his powers for a few years. He guessed the lack of pure psychos was enough to turn it off, obsolete.
Another sip of coffee. Mm.
Shin fanned a yawn in response to the question of where he was headed. ”Home, probably. Had enough crime fighting for tonight.”
He had had a good talk too.
”You ever want to talk. Or even talk about teaching or the mansion or junk. Here’s a card.” He fisher a card out of his wallet. It was white with an embossed green triangle over half of it. It had his details from the mansion, as well as his professional number. ”We can hang out again some time. Doesn’t even have to be work related. Honestly maybe better if it isn’t. Haha. Less chance of head trauma that way.”
