The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The chaos in the bowling alley had begun to settle down. Ranger had put down enough of the thugs that some had tried to flee. The other man had taken care of the guy firing the Carl Gustaf… And now he was wielding it! Ranger stopped, looking at the man who called out to him,
"Move one @#$^in inch and I ruin your day real good, got it?"
He squinted at the man… Was he holding the recoilless rifle backwards? It was hard to tell at the distance, but he was more confident than not that it was backwards. Good enough odds to make a bet. He could hear sirens approaching. He had to secure Lumberjack and get out. Haven didn’t need to manage the fallout of their head of security being caught in a bowling alley that went full Alepo.
”Slow down friend. These guys were bad news. Had they not been armed t’ the teeth none of them would have been shot. Hell, ESU might’ve put more of ‘em down than I did.”
As Ranger spoke, he decided on his course of action. The man was proving difficult to stop. Bullets, blade, choke holds… Nothing seemed to work. Maybe the best course was to try and let physics do the work. Instead of fighting the man, get him off his feet and try to stick him somewhere. Wrap him up in something. Some course of action that would disable his ability to fight back but wasn’t a direct strike against him.
The faintest hint of the party lights from the cruisers could be seen . The police were too close. Ranger had to move.
”It’s been fun, but jail isn’t in my five-year plan.” Ranger said before he threw himself into motion. His legs pounding hard as in the course of a few steps he accelerated himself up to 80 miles per hour and headed straight for the man. He wanted to hit him and drive him into a wall. Hopefully wedge him in place by sticking him into the building material.

He had him. Dead to rights, he had him. Was the trigger backwards on this thing? Why was the trigger backwards? That was... Aw @#$%, maybe he wouldn't notice.
”Slow down friend. These guys were bad news. Had they not been armed t’ the teeth none of them would have been shot. Hell, ESU might’ve put more of ‘em down than I did.”
"Bull@#$^, you came here to put them down. ESU woulda just called me in anyway."The Emergency Service had their pride about them, but they still gave him a call where there was a nut they couldn't crack. Reason being? He could walk into a room full of armed combatants and walk out with all of them knocked out and none of them dead.
That hadn't happened here. It could have, if this man hadn't come here and slaughtered them.
"Who are you?" Saph Saw lights over the man's shoulder. Cavalry was here. The big guy suddenly lurched forward, showing off that insane speed he'd shown before. Saph's eyes widened as he squeezed the handle out of instinct, and fired a rocket off... behind him. Every action having an equal and opposite reaction, a ploom of smoke and fire came out the front end right at the man bolting into it.
To someone who could feel kinetic energy moving around him, this was a very, very strange and overwhelming experience. It was like there was a shroud of force in front of him. Was the guy fine in there? He would find out in half a second if he still got hit by a human freight train.
The man had unrealistic expectations of how law enforcement would work. Maybe they would call him maybe they wouldn’t. Ranger expected they might once the rockets started flying. By then it would be too late. Rockets flying in the street was nothing short of a nightmare scenario. New York City had people packed in like sardines.
When the man asked who he was, Ranger just smiled at him. As he wasn’t wearing a mask, the last thing he wanted to do was give the man a name. ”Neighborhood watch.”
As Ranger rushed at the man, the man fired his Carl Gustaf. The rocket fired off behind the man. The rocket struck a wall and not only destroyed it, it brought down much of the ceiling. The exhaust came out in a plume of superheated gas and fire which Ranger ran straight through. His power moved from protecting him from bullets to protecting him from the extreme heat. The protection ablated as he traveled through the exhaust.
Ranger broke through the cloud of exhaust and struck the man like a linebacker with on rocket powered roller skates. He drove the man backwards, aiming for a spot of wall that had not yet been destroyed by the Carl Gustav. When there was impact it was sudden and disorienting. The material gave under the force of the two men traveling at highway speed. When finally it did stop them, it was because they had struck an exterior wall which was made of tougher stuff. Their movement was immediately arrested. Ranger’s head snapped forward and while it did not impact anything, the force had given him a concussion from his brain sloshing around inside his skull.
After seperating himself from the man, Ranger looked around. The bowling alley was destroyed. Flashing lights were very near outside. Lumberjack was up and moving, slowly. The man was limping over, Ranger’s sidearm in hand.
”Time t’ leave” Ranger said. He took a step and could feel his bones angrily protesting. His power had boosted his ability to not be burned in the exhaust. That left him vulnerable to his impact into the wall. Nothing felt broken, but everything felt bruised, sprained, or cracked. He winced as he picked up the Carl Gustaf ”This is comin’ with us.”
”Sideshow is Oscar Mike. ETA, thirty seconds.” Lumberjack told Ranger. Sideshow, who had the ability to project images into people’s minds could cover their egress.
”Good. I’ll trash the server room. Can’t leave video of us here.”
