Build: A little chub, mostly athletic, wholly unremarkable. Their gender is not immediately discernible, as their bust is moderate and concealed by their outfit choices.
Visible Mutation: Invisible! No, seriously… unless they’re in an Adapted field, they’re always invisible.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Just your usual childhood scars, also a deep gouge on one cheek. Five piercings, all in the ears. No tattoos… yet. They often have wounds from various scuffles.
Other Features: Cassidy’s body language is grandiose, and they can be very boisterous when they want to be noticed. Being obnoxious is their way of compensating for people not being able to see their face. Their voice is hoarse but not unpleasant, and they swear a lot. When Cassidy is visible, one will notice that their head is very small, and their teeth are huge in proportion to the rest of their face. Before becoming invisible, they used to be very self-conscious about their teeth… but not so much anymore. They also squint a lot… because they’re nearsighted, need glasses, and are in denial about that.
Everyday Clothing Style: Cassidy tends to wear androgynous, hipster attire. Tee shirts, flannels and button-ups, ripped jeans, beanies and beat-up sneakers. They also love to sunglasses, necklaces, and scarves.
Uniform: Fitted tank-top, leggings, no shoes. For a reason as to why, see the “Mutation” section.
Sleepwear: Briefs and a shirt.
Miscellaneous clothing: Most of their possessions are stashed in an emerald green backpack.
CharacterPersonality: Cassidy is a good person, deep down, but they're temperamental, defensive, and easily frustrated. They are an extrovert, but their terseness and droll humor sometimes makes them seem mean and pushes people away. They refuse to take sh** from anyone, and their solution when given sh** is to fight it out. Cassidy will throw-down for what's important to them, friends included. Not exactly an intellectual, they tend to think more with their gut/their heart than their head. They do care about their studies-- particularly because they’ve been bounced around a few schools for fighting-- but they’re no A- or even a B-average student.
Hobbies/ Interests: drawing, writing (neither of which they’re good at), graffiti (moderately skilled), video games (skilled, but their systems are on the other side of the Rip), anime, manga, going to conventions, sleeping, eating
Job or part time job and description: Vagrant and a thief, should be a freshmen in high school.
Fears/Phobias/Concerns: Being robbed or attacked, being yelled at/ attacked/ disrespected, being arrested (subsequently, cops), dogs
Special Talents: Decent gamer. Has a knack for figuring out what pisses a person off. Climbing things.
MoralityGood/Bad/Neutral/Other: Neutral. They'd never kill someone or intentionally harm an innocent, but they're a teenager, and very self-centered. They fight dirty, and steal to survive.
MutationsMutation Description: Cassidy is invisible. Also, when it comes to other living beings, thy are incorporeal (they can’t interact physically with other people or animals). Anything that’s fitted to their skin (leggings, a fitted tank top, or the likes), inside of them (like ingested food) or goes through them (like piercings) will become invisible too. So, if they want to be seen, they need to dress in layers. Their power is on all the time, except within an Adapted field. Though the “always on” quality of their mutation has its perks, it has its challenges too.
Strengths:- Can interact with inanimate objects without an issue.
- Can Still See: Although it should be scientifically impossible (there are no visible pupils for light to reflect through), Cassidy can still see. It probably has something to do with her mutation.
- If clothes are fitted to Cassidy’s body (i.e. leggings, a fitted tank-top, athletic socks), they will disappear with them. Layered clothes, however, will appear. So say, for example, they put on leggings but then put jeans on over that, the jeans will be visible. Or shoes over socks will be visible.
Weaknesses and Limitations:- Always invisible.
- They cannot directly, physically interact with animate objects. That means no physical displays of affection for Cassidy, unless mediated by something inanimate. In other words, Cassidy can’t give their bestie a high-five, pet a dog, or sucker-punch some jerk in the face bare-handed. And although they could “just put gloves on”, the amount of force is greatly reduced. A punch would feel like a light whack on the arm, a touch would feel like the brush of a feather. As such, if Cas really wanted to do damage, they’d need to use an implement. (i.e. pick up a baseball bat)
- Cannot phase through walls, fly, or anything of the sort.
- Still susceptible to the elements, and to attacks that aren't direct hand-to-hand combat (i.e. can be stabbed/sliced by knives, burnt, hit with a bat, etc. even if an attacker can’t land a bare-fisted punch). Still detectable by sound, scent, heat signature, and displaced air.
Secondary Mutation Description: Much like a poltergeist of legend, Cassidy can move and manipulate things without touching them. Their telekinetic ability is largely unrefined, however, and their control is virtually nonexistent.
Strengths: Their range is about twenty feet, and they can move anything with a total weight comparable to what they can physically move within that range (>30 lbs. total, and this is the absolute maximum). Most motions tend to be explosive and fairly basic-- tipping things over, shattering things, or sliding them.
Weaknesses and Limitations: While Cassidy can manipulate numerous objects at once, they cannot have a combined weight of over thirty pounds. So they can move a twenty-five pound object, or five five-pound objects, but not both simultaneously. Cassidy can't do telekinesis on-command, only when they are scared or angry or upset. They also cannot do any refined motions, such as picking objects up, manipulating switches or knobs, or anything like that. They also don't (or can't) focus on a specific item or items… it's random. Their limit for moving objects is no more than three objects, of twenty-five pounds or less, in an hour. Using telekinesis makes them nauseous, and exceeding their limit will make them puke.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: All of their physical capabilities are average for a semi-athletic person of their age.
Fighting Style: Cheap shots with inanimate implements, or a sharp kick/stomp on the foot. Or run and hide.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: They have no formal training, but a lot of spirit. It's hard to hit someone who can't physically interact with animate objects, so anyone who fights them needs to aim for parts of their body covered by clothes. But if you’re bigger than them, meaner than them, or have any sort of formal training, you’ll have the upper hand.
History Of Your Character
Cassidy and their older sister, Heather, were brought-up by their grandmother from a very early age. Their father, an employee of the government (a S.U.P.E.R. agent, unbenounced to the family) was never in the picture. Their mother struggled with addiction for years-- one of many people on her side of the family with the same affliction. As such, Cassidy and Heather landed with their grandmother, though Cas remembers snatches of life before Grandma’s house, when they were in their Mom’s care.
Their upbringing undulated between normalcy and drama. On the one hand, Cassidy went to public school, attended church on Sunday, and even played soccer. But this sense of stability was always rocked by such events as a reappearance of Cassidy’s mother, someone getting out of jail or going back in, or any number of substance-abuse related problems. From a young age, Cassidy learned to be a fighter-- she had to be. But she also learned when it was appropriate to run.
A few months back, Cassidy’s mother slipped back into the picture, badgering their grandmother for money to fuel their usual vices. Rather than listen to their grandmother’s patient protests, Cassidy intervened, berating her mother for only coming around when she wanted something out of someone, and burdening Grandma with her bad choices. A raucous argument ensued.
It ended when Cassidy’s mother took a swing at them. Her hand did not connect-- where Cassidy had stood, there was open air. Their mother swiped at nothing. She had vanished.
Everyone panicked. Cassidy’s mother was threatening to do harm to Cassidy, Grandma was threatening to call the cops on Mom. Cassidy, thoroughly panicked by the whole thing, ran. They grabbed their backpack, stuffed it with essentials, and got out of there. They had intended to go to their friend’s house. That’s what Cassidy usually did when things went south.
That night that they set out for their friend’s house, it was July 1, 2018. The Rips in time-space in New York were closing, disconnecting, and drifting away. In some places, however, the portals glided along sidewalks and streets as one world drifted further from the other. Unwitting and blinded by tears (and also thoroughly distraught over being invisible), Cassidy crossed through one of these Rips.
They walked to what they’d believed was their friend’s house, only to find it to be occupied by strangers. Panicked, they tried to return home, and found the same. It was July 2nd when they’d realized their misfortune.
They were stuck. For a few weeks they wandered the streets, but eventually they made their way to the Sanctuary, and have been their ever since.

Sample RP:“Man, this place gives me the creeps at night,” the associate complained, “It’s bad enough during the day.”
Her name was Kaitlyn. Cassidy knew this from the time they spent milling around the floor unnoticed. Kaitlyn didn’t exactly have a solid work ethic, hence why she was sitting in a stockroom when their department was supposed to be doing recovery. It was retail, though, so Cassidy couldn’t blame them.
“We’re back here all the time,” Andrea huffed, “We’ll be fine. We’ll just wait ‘til ten and then clock-out, no sweat.” Andrea’s rotund face was illuminated by the blue light of their smartphone screen, one of her thumbs idly flicking at the phone screen, scrolling past posts on a blogging platform. Cassidy lingered just behind them, totally unseen, rocking on their feet. They’d gotten better at walking silently. Not that they needed to, with the hum of the building’s heater.
“Did you hear what Kelly said?” Kaitlyn whispered, a fluttering hand trying to beat the cigarette smoke away from her face, “She says she thinks the building’s haunted, says she heard something back here while she was setting up that new display for Mike.”
“Yeah, well, Kelly’s batsh** crazy,” Andrea grunted without lifting her gaze, “She thinks she has premonitions too.”
Cassidy sighed. They were wrong. The “Kelly” in question had overheard Cas rifling through the newest shipment of clothes and investigated. What other rational explanation was there? Besides an invisible mutant, that is... besides, Cassidy liked Kelly. She sung to herself while she was folding shirts, and was nice to even the most tyrannical of customers. Rather than stick-up for the girls’ coworker, and thereby blow their cover, Cassidy stuck-out their arm and swept it over the shelf, dislodging a cardboard box of plushies and sending it toppling to the floor. Both girls jumped.
“What the f*** was that!” Kaitlyn snapped. Andrea turned her phone, revealing the upturned box.
“It’s the f***ing ZumZum’s.”
Their eyes were saucer-like in the dim light of the smartphone. Neither of them said it, but Cassidy could tell they were thinking it. They had to be wondering if Kelly had been right.
Cassidy wedged their hands under a neatly folded stack of jeans, flinging them in the direction of the two associates. Even if Kelly was spacey, she didn’t deserve to have sh** talked about her behind her back. Kaitlyn and Andrea shrieked, scrambling to their feet to escape the “haunted” stockroom. Had they stopped to listen, they would have heard a hoarse laughter chase them out. But they were gone. This had to be the best thing about being invisible-- f***ing around with people.
