The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rivka was curled up on the couch in the living room, watching Beauty and the Beast. She had the English closed-captions on, as her goal was not just to veg out, but to improve her English, and a staff member had mentioned that children's movies like this often had dialog that was slower and easier to understand. So she had picked this one for a couple of reasons. First, she'd seen most of it on the internet, dubbed in Hebrew. True, she'd had to watch it piecemeal, this scene then that scene and such, but at least she had a pretty good idea of what they would be saying in some major scenes. That would help her follow the purely English version. At least that was her hope.
It was pure coincidence that she happened to be wearing a blue dress while doing so. It was a darker blue than Belle's, with three-quarter long sleeves and didn't have the apron or white under-shirt. But regardless, it made her smile that she was dressed somewhat similarly. She could identify with Belle, to some extent. Dreaming of meeting a prince...what girl didn't, at least occasionally? The first thing she'd realized after moving into the mansion was just how sheltered her life had been previously. Not necessarily a bad thing, but now she was curious about just about everything - including relationships with other people.
She startled a bit, as the Beast came in and grabbed Belle's father. Yes, she should have been expecting it, and it wasn't that scary, but she was still getting used to her new home, and feeling of being off-balance left her on-edge a bit. She pulled her feet up, so that they disappeared under the blossom of her dress as she got comfy, and tried to concentrate on the movie's dialog, silently mouthing the words as they went flying by.
(Grab your mutant and some popcorn and come watch the movie!)
She still had gaps in her memory. Some things had come quickly, the easy things like her name, where she'd come from but she was still missing some pretty major stuff. Who were her parents? Why was no one looking for her? Did she not have friends that had noticed her missing?
And why on earth was she fluent in a language that sounded right out of some kind of fairy......elbow? Was that the saying?
It was frustrating and miserable and all she'd really needed was a proper hug but she was stuck for the time being. Stuck in a school full of mutants, with no money or possessions to her name wearing clothes that while clean, clearly were designed for someone better built than herself. And why weren't they letting her leave yet, the doctor had said she was physically fine. Worse they sometimes looked at her a bit nervously whenever she moved quickly or got upset. It's not like she was going to stab them or anything.
Wandering the halls she'd been drawn towards singing. It felt, familiar, somehow. Her fingers had started dancing when the music had started and when the various instruments and voiced had soared it's like her pulse had responded. It was important to her, or had been important to her and she had been getting a feeling deep in her gut that finding the source of the noises would be important. Much to her surprise it was a film, about dancing furniture? And cutlery. Well, in fairness, Cait thought, it made as much sense as anything in this place. Reaching the sofa she'd was half way to sitting down before noticing the enraptured girl curled up on it.
Letting out a surprised yelp and nearly jumping a solid foot off the ground she stumbled back a couple of steps, a glowing knife appearing unbidden and unnoticed by the Scot in her shock. "S....sorry there. I didn't think there was anyone here." The words tumbled out quickly, her facing heating up with embarrassment at what she'd just done. Why had a teenager freaked her out so much!?
"I'll just, let you get on with.......this. Yeah. Bye then." Turning to leave the knife flickered back out existence before Cait had been able to catch a glimpse of it.
In response to the yelp, Rivka gave an equally startled squeak. She was holding a bowl of largely-forgotten popcorn, that she jerked upward when she did so. When she stopped the bowl, the contents continued up another foot or so, before showering back down on her lap. She managed to catch some in the bowl, but most went on her or the floor. What this place needed was a beagle to clean up messes like this!
"Oh, ahm, am sorry!" she began to stumble out, as she tried to scoop as much of the popcorn off of her dress and back into the bowl as possible. Grease stains. Ugh. "No have leave" she continued, before her brain processed that there'd been something glowing. A glowing knife? Naw... probably an optical illusion due to the movie and the darkened room. "Am try to make better English" she carefully said. As she was now getting intensive real-world practice every day, she was now really surprised that anyone had understood her at all when she'd first arrived.
She stood up, then made a face, looking down as a couple of more pieces of popcorn escaped from wherever they'd been hiding in the folds of her dress. "Am Rivka. Your name called?" she asked carefully. Grammatically still not quite there, but understandable at least. She was petite, with long dark hair and green eyes and little makeup. She wore simple stud earrings but also had on a necklace, with a Star of David, but no other jewelry.
