The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Something was off-- anyone who knew the gargoyle could see that. It was written on her face, in the stitch of her brow, the downturned corners of her mouth, the less-than-scintillating brown eyes. She looked like Gina but didn't. She stood her cell phone on one corner and let it spin idly beneath one fingertip. She'd texted Nessa. Originally she was going to just text her, but… it didn't be fair. They'd been going steady for a year and Nessa deserved better than that.
She deserved better than this. The phone slipped and fell flat, causing the gargoyle to jump at the sound. Darn these metal patio tables. She took the opportunity to survey their texts.
‘Hey babe, having a shit day, grabbing froyo. Wanna meet up?’ Gina's text read. Gina didn't really want froyo-- or really anything-- to eat. She was so wrapped up in her own thoughts that even eating seemed unthinkable. Anything was better than unloading on Nessa over text though.
The sun squatted low over the building's, sending refractions of orange light every which direction. Gina squinted through the darkened lenses of her sunglasses. The time of day was kind of a godsend. It hid the true purpose of the shades. She didn't want Nessa preemptively gleaning everything from her eyes.
Gina saw the familiar head of brunette hair, saw Nessa’s gait, and the gargoyle stood as if drawn by a thread. The sight of her girlfriend still brought a smile to the gargoyle’s face, even if it was tinged by something else.
“Hey beautiful,” the gargoyle greeted, rising on tiptoes to kiss Nessa. Even the greeting seemed distracted, perhaps a little tired. Well, she had said that she'd had a shitty day, “You're a sight for sore eyes.”
True, all of it true. There was something therapeutic about being around Nessa.

Nessa was in a good place in her life, all things considered. She had a good job, a support structure, and she was living openly and proudly. Then, of course, there was Gina. The young gargoyle had worked her way into Nessa’s heart and become one of the best parts of her life. Nessa was always a romantic at heart, and Booker would point out her trademark ability to fall head over heels for a woman, but it was hard to see how Gina was not just… worth it.
Of course, being with an amazing girl meant being an amazing girlfriend to really do right by her. Gina texted about her awful day and her plans to counter that bad day with froyo. Nessa was just working on some design ideas for new tshirts for the merch store, so she had plenty of time. She typed up a quick message. “Oh babe, I’ll meet you at the usual place ASAP. See you soon. Love you!” And without delay, she was out the door.
Nessa saw Gina waiting for her outside the shop. She wasted no time wrapping arms around Gina’s waist and leaning down to kiss her. She looked her girlfriend over, realizing she must have been having a rough day. Something about her expression, even without being able to see her eyes, left Nessa feeling disheartened. She hated anything that would hurt Gina, so she was here to be supportive and help her through it.
”Likewise, gorgeous,” she replied, kissing the tip of Gina’s nose. ”Why don’t we get snacks and you can tell me what’s up? I’ve got all the time in the world.”
>> ”Why don’t we get snacks and you can tell me what’s up? I’ve got all the time in the world.”
The smile lingered on Gina's face, and she nodded once. It would give her time to figure out where to start. What awful thing would she say first? Would she get right to the root of the issue? Or would she pussyfoot around until she stumbled onto the right words?
Gina held the door for Nessa, than followed her in. Even with the shades, the room felt too bright. A brief survey of the machines, and Gina settled for her usual-- vanilla. Atop The frozen yogurt, graham cracker crumbs, diced fresh fruit and cheesecake bites were sprinkled. This treat was deposited into a scale and, once both girls had set their creations on the counter, these were paid for, and they returned outside.
The gargoyle settled in her chair, setting the cup of yogurt atop the table. She dug the neon spoon into the dessert, and took a polite bite.
“I needed this,” Gina murmured distractedly, watching Nessa as she took her seat. Gina's heart quivered as she turned the words over in her head. She could feel her expression crumpling again. She took another bite of froyo. She wasn't usually so tight-lipped.
