The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Zoe hadn't been drunk the night before, but she hasn't exactly been sober, either. As she lay in bed trying to wake up, Zoe didn't even realize there was someone else there until she felt them moving beside her. She opened her eyes and looked over.
And she was surprised to see that it was Jay lying there beside her.
Slowly, memory of what had happened the night before, what she had done. What they had done. And even now, she was laying there snuggled up against Jay as they woke up.
Zoe groaned slightly as she closed her eyes as she continued to lay there. ”Did we really do this?”

Jay looked over again as he felt stirring next to him. He still somewhat felt like crap, but there was something in her tone. Awkwardness? A tinge of regret? Who knew?
Maybe she was reeling like he was, but he didn't think she'd had nearly that many. Though, he *did* remember exay what had happened, some of the how and the why was lost on him. But that was to be expected.
Giving her a shrug, he forced a wink as he rolled over on his side. "From the looks of it, I'd say we damn sure did," he said with a chuckle. He needed to get up and get coffee going, but he didn't want to move, so...he just lay right there as he was.
Feeling Jay shrug under her head, Zoe opened her eyes again just in time to see him wink at her. And then he started laughing a bit as he pointed out the pretty damn obvious that they had indeed done what Zoe thought they had.
Zoe took a deep breath, then nodded slightly in acceptance and realization of what they had done. What she had fought against them doing, despite the fact that she had really wanted to, because he had a girlfriend.
Scooting slightly away, Zoe sat up, holding the blanket up to cover herself as she looked down at Jay. ”So what happens now?” she asked. Because she really didn’t know what would, or should, happen now.

He chuckled lightly as she scooted away then tried to be all modest. "You know, we've already gone past this point. You don't necessarily have to cover up," he said with a smirk. Besides, it's not like he wouldn't want to see that again. He sat up, looking at her as the blanket slid off of him.
"Well, first...I need to brew some coffee. You want some?" he asked as he stood to his feet, not bothering to find his clothes. "After that, well...it depends." Making his way to the kitchen, he got the coffee pot ready and made enough for the two of them, and then some. It was going to be a pretty long morning otherwise. Then, he made both of them a cup, setting them down on the coffee table before plopping on the couch.
They had gone past the point of modesty like this, hadn't they? In a way, quite often, Zoe realized as she sat there looking at Jay as he sat up as well. She couldn't even count the number of times he had been naked in her apartment if she tried to. Though that was a totally different situation. And she hadn't been naked in the apartment with him until last night. Even if she had wanted to. Despite that, Zoe kept the blanket held up, at least mostly covering herself as she sat there.
And coffee was so not what Zoe had meant when she had asked what happened now. Even if coffee did sound like an amazing idea. Then Jay was standing up, not even looking for his clothing, and Zoe averted her eyes slightly, a bit of a blush covering her cheeks. Yes, Jay had been naked in her apartment countless times, but that didn't mean she had seen him naked any of those times. "Coffee would be good," Zoe replied, keeping her eyes averted as Jay made his way out of her bedroom. Still naked.
What did he mean 'it depends' what happened after coffee? Once Jay was out of the room, Zoe sat and stared at the door for a minute as she thought. What the hell had she been thinking last night? Though, that was probably the problem, she hadn't been thinking, she had allowed the alcohol she'd drank lower her inhibitions, and done something she knew was a horrible idea. Even if what she remembered of it had been great.
Slowly, Zoe climbed out of bed as she started to smell the coffee brewing, throwing on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. By the time that Zoe emerged, she found Jay sitting on the couch, still naked even though she could see his clothing sitting on the floor nearby, with two cups of coffee on the table in front of him.
"Could you at least put these on?" Zoe asked, tossing Jay his boxers before she sat down on the couch. Making sure there was an arms length of empty space between them before she reached for her coffee. Though she had to smile slightly once she took a sip; he had remembered how she took her coffee. That was something else that she wouldn't have expected.

Okay so maybe she wasn't as used to this type of thing as he was; as noted by the aversion and the blush. And yet, despite his encouragement, she still insisted on covering up. He knew that wasn't what she'd asked, per se, but he kind of enjoyed messing with her. It was kind of adorable, really.
He sat on the couch, sipping his coffee while waiting on her, and when she came out....damn she'd gotten dressed already. And then she was asking him to at least put some underwear on. Point taken. With a slight chuckle, he took the boxers and slipped them on. "Does this mean no encore?" he asked with a slight snicker as he looked over at her with a twinkle in his eyes.
Hey, what's done was done, right? Well, that was his philosophy, anyway. Old dogs, new tricks, old habits died hard, that sort of thing.
Zoe knew Jay well enough to realize that he looked disappointed when she made her way into the living room. She could only assume that it was because she had gotten dressed, even if it was only into sweats. At least he wasn't fighting her about him putting his boxers back on. That was slightly, very slightly, more appropriate. Really not much, but it was something.
When he spoke, Zoe looked over at him in surprise, only to see that mischievous twinkle in his eye she recognized from when he was having fun, and she shook her head as she leaned back against the couch. "You know we shouldn't have done that in the first place," Zoe replied softly. "For the same reason we never had before." At that little verbal admittance, Zoe blushed slightly again and reached for her coffee, taking a sip to buy herself some time.
"You had a girlfriend last night, and you still have one this morning." Closing her eyes, Zoe leaned back against the couch again. "This never should have happened."

And she was shaking her head at him, great. Not that the canine-shifter wasn't used to that sort of reaction. It just....wasn't the kind of reaction he liked to get from the person he'd just slept with. But, he did learn something: apparently him having a girlfriend was the only reason this hadn't happened sooner. Or more often.
He sighed, nodding in agreement. "I guess you're right," he murmured. "But I have to admit, it was kinda worth it," he complimented before standing to his feet and bending over to pick up his shirt. He then walked over to where his pants were, right in front of Zoe, and bent down, unintentionally giving her quite the view as he picked them up.
It felt like it took forever for Jay to respond. It probably wasn't very long in reality, but it felt like a rather long wait to Zoe. Especially as she sat there with her eyes closed.
But when he did respond, her eyes opened and she looked at him in slight surprise. Her eyes following him as he finally moved to get his clothes. Including bending over right in front of her to grab his pants. Closing her eyes again, Zoe took a deep breath before she looked up at Jay. "What do you mean it was worth it?" She questioned. Yes, it had been great, Zoe could admit that if only to herself, but that didn't mean it was worth sleeping with a guy who had a girlfriend. "I won't be 'the other woman', Jay."

He stood back up and sat next to her. "Well, I mean you were damn good," he said with a slight shrug. But she still wasn't happy with him, not in the slightest. He didn't need to be an expert on the language of the disappointed woman--and he kind of was--to realize that she was none too pleased right now.
He sighed as his mind raced, his gears turning. He knew that if he went down this road, there was no going back. And yet...here he was. He was already in deep, and the shovel was still in hand, so he may as well dig deeper.
"So what if you didn't have to be the other woman?" he asked, leaning in. He was lying, of course, but...if they weren't going to do this, then he might as well take advantage of the situation while he could.
Zoe's eyes followed Jay as he sat back down, his clothing in hand but not yet being put on. And she blushed as he told her that she had been damn good. Thinking it to yourself was one thing. Having Jay tell her so was something else entirely.
When he spoke again, Zoe's eyes widened slightly. "If I didn't have to be..." Zoe questioned, though her words trailed off slightly as she saw Jay leaning in toward her. He had sat back down much closer than she had started off, too. "That would definitely change things," she told him, a small smile curling one side of her mouth as she looked at Jay. Because there really was no denying that she was attracted to Jay, she had been since the day they had first met. Zoe was sure that they would have slept together a long time ago if it hadn't been for the fact that Jay had a girlfriend. That was a line that Zoe hadn't wanted to cross, one she had thought she never would cross.
The alcohol the previous night had helped them jump right over that line.
"If you don't have a girlfriend, I mean, there really wouldn't be anything standing in the way anymore," Zoe continued after a couple moments of thought, her eyes darting down quickly to Jay's lips.

There comes a time in a man's life when he starts to wonder if he's really a good person, or just a grade-A scumbag.
For Jay, this was not that time. Here was, sitting across from a woman whom he shared a mutual attraction with, and all it would take for him to sleep with her--again, only this time without alcohol, was a little lie. Or a big lie, whatever the case may be. Either way, lying was pretty much right in Jay's reach. "Well then," he murmured, scooting a little bit closer and putting his hand on her cheek, "You don't have to be the 'other' woman." His voice was soft, yet before she could even question what he'd just said, his lips were already on a collision course with hers as his other arm pulled her closer to him, closing the gap.
If Jay didn’t have a girlfriend anymore, if he dumped the woman, there would really be no reason she couldn’t sleep with Jay again. That had been the only thing holding her back in reality. Sure, Zoe would feel bad for causing that, being the reason that Jay broke up with this woman, but it was far better than him cheating.
And if he really wanted to be with her that badly despite the fact that he did have a girlfriend, maybe it was a good thing?
Then Jay was speaking, scooting closer to her. Placing his hand on her cheek. As she listened to what Jay was telling her, Zoe pressed her lips together, biting them slightly. She didn’t have to be the other woman? That was…
Before she could speak, before she could even think more than that, Jay was closing the remaining distance between them, his lips pressing softly against hers in a kiss. His one hand was still on her cheek, his other arm wrapping around her, pulling her closer as she returned his kiss. Zoe’s arms made their own way around Jay, one gripping his shoulder as the other wrapped around his neck. And as the kiss grew more passionate, Zoe moaned against Jay’s lips softly.

He could sense for a long time that she was attracted to him, and he was sure this meant a lot to her. However, it was a shame he had to lie to get back to this point, but that was a bridge he'd cross later. Or never, if he could help it.
He pulled back from the kiss as he pulled the shirt over her head, and he smirked coyly, a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he looked at her. "You know, I kind of told you it'd be senseless to get dressed," he murmured with a slight chuckle. Then, he leaned back in again, continuing the kiss just as passionately as they'd left off.
Zoe had wondered before just how much Jay cared for this girlfriend of his. They had come close to, well not this , but they had come close to kissing before on a number of occasions, and it was the fact that he had a girlfriend that had stopped Zoe. Though, they hadn't actually talked about it before. Would Jay have dumped his girlfriend before now if he had really known that she was interested?
But then Jay was pulling back from the kiss, pulling her shirt up over her head. And Zoe laughed at Jay's comment, even if she did blush slightly at the same time. She didn't have time to reply before Jay was leaning in for another kiss, and Zoe wrapped her arms around him again, pulling herself close against Jay's body as they sat there on the couch.
