The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The girl with the colorful hair and the colorful emotions moved into the Mansion. She was working on her plans for making a life in New York, and in the meantime, Xavier's was happy to have her. Maya liked her, anyway. She was nice, and fun, and totally bright eyed and bushy tailed, even if she would not admit it. And like most newcomers, her grasp on her powers was not exactly solid.
Which is why Mirror decided to invited her to a DR training session, to see exactly how she stood with her power control.
The DR had been booked, and Skye had been invited. Mirror, this time in Gawain's body, was waiting with his arms folded outside the door; program and surprises on the other side ready to be unleashed. Hopefully, by the end of the session, they would have a better idea of what color corresponded to what emotion...

She'd put it off for as long as she'd could, but she finally decided to stop procrastinating and making excuses. As of...a couple of days ago, Skye Sinclaire had gotten off of Blaine's couch and moved into the Mansion. She had an actual bed to sleep on, and on top of that, an actual room. She'd gotten so used to living at her uncle's that she'd forgotten what these simple things were like. Sure, she was going to have to deal with people on a regular basis, but she felt this would honestly be for the better.
After all, this place was supposed to help her get more of a grip on her powers, or at least help figure them out, and that would help her to better herself. Besides...after that little incident with the protester in the park, a little help would be more than welcome. Speaking of which, Mirror had scheduled her a training session today, which she was honestly looking forward to. If a bit nervous.
She made her way down the hall towards the danger room, her purple hoodie open and the hood up, revealing a black tank top and a black pair of track pants. It would have been gym clothes, if she ever went to the gym, but this was the closest she was likely going to get. Her hair was yellow, showing her excitement, though there wasn't any light radiating from her hands right now. The bangs of her hair just barely poked past the hood as she neared her destination, to see a man waiting with his arms folded.
Once approached, she gave a nod in greeting. "Hey," she said simply.
"Hey" Gawain smiled as he saw the girl walking up. She was dressed to work, which was good, because the Danger Room was definitely not a place to half-*ss things. He had planned a program that would help her figure out her powers, and the things the different colors meant. It would probably take a while, but at least in a controlled environment he could tell what she was reacting to.
"Ready for the training?" he asked her, punching in his access code to the DR "I planned some things that could give us an idea of how your powers work. Mostly, I thought we'd start with the colors. If we can help you figure out what color corresponds to what emotion, that would already be a start..."
Skye's hair stayed its excited yellow, despite the twinge of nervousness that started to creep in as she looked at Gawain. Honestly, she didn't know what to expect, but when she thought about it, that was probably part of the point, wasn't it? Her arms sort of dangled awkwardly by her sides, unsure of what to do with them. She was too excited to just cross them across her chest, but she didn't put them in her pockets either. So, they just hung by her sides, fists clenching and unclenching with anticipation.
"Oh, I'm ready," she said with a slight smile. Her heart was beating faster as the anticipation built up. As he spoke, she listened, nodding. "Sounds good. I've had people try to help figure it out, but a controlled environment would probably work better. I've honestly been looking forward to it," she said brightly.
Skye looked excited. A little nervous too, but mostly excited. Gawain was already holding a clipboard in his hand, with a list of little color patches on a sheet of paper - he was not sure how many colors her hair could change into, but he was going to take notes, and figure the rest out later. For now, under the yellow patch went "Excited / Nervous?", and then he opened the door to the Danger Room.
"Go ahead" he nodded with a smile, following her inside. The simulation was set to a basic space, a generic living room with some furniture. The moment the doors slid shut, Gawain told the DR to start the simulation.
And in came the puppies.
It was a pouring flood of puppies, tiny, fuzzy, spherical in shape, ridiculously wobbly and ridiculously cute. Gawain stood back as they all went for Skye with an overabundance of affection. He was either going to learn what her happy color was, or he was going to learn that she had a deep-seated fear of puppies. Either way, it was a start.
Skye walked inside, and her muscles tensed as she stepped inside and her brown eyes scanned the room; it was rather basic. But she couldnt' help the muscles tensing as her hair turned to a nervous purple as the doors slid shut. She steadied her breathing, focusing on the task that was at hand.
She didn't know what to expect. Maybe a giant robot, some dark, twisted, decayed version of herself, maybe even a giant three-headed dog. But it wasn't remotely close to the flood of...
"Ohmygod! They're so cute!" She squealed as the puppies came flooding in and her hair turned orange, light emanating from her hands as they came at her looking all adorable and spherical and stuff. Okay this wasn't bad at all. In fact, she could think of a few days when she coulda used a room full of puppies.
The wave of puppies hit Skye, and she was not resisting it. Her hair lit up a bright orange, and so did her lights. Gawain grinned as he made a note on his clipboard.
"I'd say orange is excited" he chuckled, allowing Skye a few moments of the fluffy heaven before the program needed to move on. That was one emotion down, and one color solved. Plus, they had a 'puppy flood' option in the Danger Room now. That was going to come in handy later on. After a few minutes of that, Gawain gave a sign to the DR to move on with the planned program. The generic room they were projected into got dark, and a loud growling sound emanated from outside the door; the puppies whined and then ran away, disappearing through a door without a trace. The grown, louder and more... varied, sounded again, and a scratching sound came from the door. Suddenly, it felt like it was a middle of the night. Even the temperature seemed to drop.
"Exited, happy, something like that," she said with a shrug, still barely able to contain the happiness that threatened to bust out of her at the sight of all of these little balls of fluff begging for her attention. If this was how 'training' usually went, this was going to be a lot easier than she thought.
But it was never that easy.
The room darkened, and a loud growl made the source of her happiness run and scatter. Skye stood to her feet as the growl echoed throughout the room again, a shiver going up her spine as the room seemed to get cold. The room got darker, but that was offset by the green glow radiating from Skye's hands. The light was pulsing steadily, in perfect sync with her racing heart.
She was afraid, but there was no way she was going to take whatever this was lying down.
The orange, with was the color of happiness and/or excitement, faded into a green glow as the light dimmed and the temperature dropped. It was worry or fear, as far as Gawain could tell. He made a note of that too, before he merged into a nearby mirror, silently taking himself out of the scene. From this point on, Skye was on her own.
The growl and the scratching started up again, then paused; after a heartbeat of silence, there was a loud roar as something large and heavy collided with the door from the outside. Classic jump scare.
"These things can hurt you, you know" Gawain noted through the comm as he returned to the God Room. He was curious what Skye would do next.
Skye surveyed the room as the adrenaline surged through her veins, almost seeming to fuel the green light that was now pulsing a little more rapidly as the tension built up. As the growling and scratching continued, then stopped, Skye had stepped back, flipping over a coffee table, a chair, and anything else light enough that she could move quickly to make sort of a makeshift barricade.
Then something collided with the door, and it made her jump, the lights pulsing so intently they were almost a steady light. She bit her lip at Gawain's words. "Well, shit..." she muttered, her heart about to burst out of her chest as she prepared to face whatever this was.
She just hoped her power would do what she needed it to do, when she needed. Otherwise, she was pretty well screwed.
Another roar rang out as something threw itself against the door once again. Gawain watched as Skye's lights grew in strength, noting how her fear or worry was making them steadier as the danger increased. He really wanted to see how far she could go, but he was not going to be cruel right the first time in the DR. Too much.
A moment later, the door finally broke down, and a large grizzly bear pushed its way into the living room, mouth open, paws shoving furniture out of the way as it charged straight at Skye.

Skye tensed, standing behind her crude line of furniture as the roar rang in her ears again, her stomach knotting as the creature--whatever it was slammed against the door again. Suddenly, the door burst open and a grizzly bear charged into the room, and she backed up as the bear made easy work of the furniture she'd lined up as it charged at her.
But in her haste to back up, she fell backwards, onto her butt as the bear made its way closer and fear gripped tightly at her throat as the distance between them dwindled fast. The girl crossed her arms over her face, palms out as she felt its hot breath on her.
Finally...
BANG! The room filled with a sudden white light as it echoed with a loud noise that dwarfed that of the earlier roar and ruckus the beast had made. Now, her ears were ringing and she was slightly disoriented, but hopefully it was too much for the bear. Her hair had remained its green color, but the lights were now a faint flicker as she curled up on the floor.
Yep, green was definitely fear. Not that Gawain could blame the girl, a simulated grizzly attack was bad enough, but knowing it could actually hurt was way worse. Not that he was going to let the DR harm Skye; that was not the point of the exercise, for now. The bear would have paused, if programmed right... except, it never got the chance.
The flash bang went off with surprising force. Gawain fell back in his chair in the god room, and for a moment, even the cameras frizzed out.
"Freeze simulation!" blinking rapidly and seeing spots all over, Gawain returned to the god room window to look at the scene below. "Damn... Hey, Skye, are you okay?"
The room was still spinning slightly as she lay on the floor. There was the growing familiarity of the ringing in her ears, accompanied by the brief question of would this affect her hearing any? She knew she was resistant to her own blasts, but hopefully the ri. nging was just from the energy loss that such a blast required. Justified by the fact that the time she'd set it off more than once in succession, the ringing was worse. So there was that.
She barely heard Gawain's voice over the ruckus, though she noticed the bear had stopped charging. That was good, at least. To answer the question of was she okay, she merely lifted her right arm, the green light still flickering from her palm as she gave a thumbs up, then rose to a sitting position.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm cool. That is what happens when I get too stressed out," her voice was slightly shaky, but she was regaining her composure. "Yeah, I'm good now. Perfectly fine," her breath was a little bit heavier than usual, but the more destructive part of her power did come with a price tag.
The flash bang was unexpected. Gawain expected less, like maybe colorful sparks from her hands, or maybe a green light beam shooting from her fingers? But a full flash bang, now that was another level. It seemed like it surprised Skye herself too, because she looked a little dizzy as she sat up.
>>"Yeah, yeah. I'm cool. That is what happens when I get too stressed out,"
"Noted" Gawain smirked, making sure the Danger Room recorded the reaction, and also making some notes of his own about Skye's powers. If she managed to control that...
>>"Yeah, I'm good now. Perfectly fine,"
"Alright" Gawain nodded, punching some controls "Let's get you back to baseline, shall we? What's your quiet place? Beach? Meadows? Blanket fort?"
