The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character’s Real Name: Mory VanMeren Codename: Overcast
Gender: Female Age: 20 (Birthday: February 6) Nationality/Ethnicity: Belgian/Dutch Notes (hobbies, phobias, worries, etc.): She enjoys target shooting, skateboarding, going to rock concerts, and riding her motorcycle. She is afraid of bright lights. Her worry is that she would lose her powers somehow and would no longer be able to keep the sunlight at bay. Extra note: Mory is completely colorblind (think black and white movie).
Personality: Mory is all about self-preservation. She does what she thinks will help her, no matter what it may do to others. She has a wee bit of a power streak, but it’s her self-preservation that controls everything – she wouldn’t let herself get so consumed with something that it put her in needless danger of losing her life. She is a partier – she likes to do things for fun. She’s very independent and enjoys the thrill of staying out late at concerts and getting herself into dangerous situations. Mory is very selfish, she has no loyalties and she gets what se wants.
Side: Bad
Everyday Clothing: tight-fitting, black tops, often baring her midriff, with tight, black leather pants that have big flares – they are very worn as she has had them for a long time; for shoes she wears whatever she’s in the mood to wear – but always black. Her attire is devoid of any color. Uniform: her leather pants with a black leather jacket and a black shirt underneath; steel-toed, black combat boots for shoes Pajamas: whatever she falls asleep in
Hair Color and Style: Blue, shoulder-length locks, free and wild Eye Color: Blue Height: 5’5½” Build: slender, but very muscular Scars: nothing specific Tattoos: a black dragon, in very simple style, starts at the base of her neck and goes down her back about 2/3 of the way. Piercings: she doesn’t believe in piercings, they could cause you extra pain in a bad fight.
Description of Ability(ies): Mory can bend light away from places to make them absent of all light or partially absent of light. She can create places that are absent off anything (these are very small, like bubbles) and move them around, she calls them her “bullets” because she can use them in a similar fashion: shooting them through things with her mind. She can also see in the dark like it’s day. Cons (weaknesses) of Ability(ies): Mory has gotten so used to the synthetic darkness she creates that she can’t stand to be full-on, in the light: it would burn her skin very badly, her eyes wouldn’t be able to process that much light, and pretty much she wouldn’t be able to handle it. Fighting style (if any): general street fighting, plus a couple years of self-defense class; she works out a lot, so she packs a pretty good punch; she also uses her powers, shooting people with her ‘bullets’ and using her ability to make it too dark for the average person to see to her advantage.
History of Character: Mory had been harboring her abilities for some time before “Jaya O’Riley” (then Martha Bexford, an orphan from Europe adopted by a slightly rich English couple) started to show her untamable green hair and uncontrollable energy. When she saw how Martha’s own parents disowned her for her differences and how cruel the rest of the town was on the subject, Mory’s anti-human prejudices sparked and began to fester. She thought ‘Jaya’s’ abilities were a gift that put her above the pathetic, everyday people of the town. She encouraged Jaya to leave town and expand her abilities, she even paid for her to get her name changed. When Jaya was gone, Mory stuck around, honing her abilities in secret. She was soon forced to wear sunglasses to escape the light she exposed herself to in public. She told her parents that her eyes simply ‘hurt’ and they took her to a renowned eye doctor who said that she needed to wear prescription sunglasses because of her eyes’ weakness against light (which he couldn’t explain) and her parents kept going on as normal, with no idea of what was really going on with their daughter. As time went on and Mory gained more strength in her power, her eyes started to produce more of the rod cells (what helps you see in the dark, only does black and white) and started to get rid of the cone cells (what helps you see in light and does colors). Within a few more months she was completely colorblind. In order to escape teasing for mix-matched clothing colors, she cleared out her closet and bought all black clothes. She went to college at Colorado University in Denver and started to make a large portion of money making dealings in the black market. She also joined an underground mutant group on campus where she and six others worked to strengthen their abilities and discover what secrets their powers held for them aside from the obvious. The others in the group were more conservative, not wanting to upset things, but Mory was rebellious. She believed that mutants were the better species and that they deserved better than they were dealt. It all escalated when a rather meek girl in the group (also her roommate) was with her, walking back from a mutant meeting, and they were jumped by an anti-mutant group. They had just been discussing how the roommate wasn’t brave enough to go out there like Mory always did, how she had this pair of leather pants that she’d bought in hopes that maybe one day she’d be adventurous enough to wear them, but that she didn’t think she ever would, when the group attacked. This was the first time Mory used her powers against someone. The ‘bubbles of nothingness’ she had been learning to create became her ‘bullets’ in an instant. She killed them on the spot, but not before they shot and killed her friend. The others in the group were also jumped and murdered elsewhere that night. Mory took her money and packed her bags. She looked over at the leather pants that her roommate had never gotten the chance to wear. She took the pants and put them on, vowing that she would avenge her friend’s death, and the death of the others in her mutant group. She took a taxi to the nearest motorcycle dealership and purchased a bike, on the spot, with cash. She put her stuff in the back and took off, headed for New York.
((This is still in the works, and some needs to be modified, but this should give you the more-than-general idea of things.))
*looks hand over before shaking it* Well, I can't say many people find meeting me a pleasure. Consider yourself lucky. *gives a mischievous half-smile*
