The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

When the coffee readied, he poured two cups, but looked at her thoughtfully as she spoke. "Honestly? You wouldn't," he said plainly as he returned to the love seat and handed her a cup. "You'd never know if you don't try. Just like I never would have known if I'd stayed hiding in my little corner behind my empty beer bottles. Some things are worth taking the risk for..." he said as he took a sip.
However, there was a hidden meaning to what he'd said; a read between the lines sort of meaning. In a sense, he was saying she was worth taking that risk, but was he? He didn't know if she'd catch it, but it was a little trick he'd picked up between being both a cop and a private investigator.
He sat back, sliding only slightly closer to her as he mulled over things. He took a breath, focusing on the scent of his coffee as he took another sip.
You wouldn’t know if things would be different this time? Well, how did that help anything, Lee wondered as she took the mug from Jason, holding it in both hands to absorb the warmth.
But in a way, Lee knew that Jason was right. She never would have approached him, hell, she had been about to turn him down until she had heard his accent, yet they had ended up having an amazing night together. A far better night than Lee could remember having in a very long time. And the last time she’d had a similar night had definitely not included the amount of talking, or the connection, that they had had.
Lee took a slow sip of the hot, comforting coffee. How could anything more with Jason be worth the risk, she wondered. But at the same time, Lee couldn’t remember the last time she had thought about a man as much as she had thought about Jason after the fact. If nothing else, they had clicked. And Lee was already hurting thinking about not being with him again.
Did that mean that it was worth the risk?
Taking a deep breath, letting it out with a sigh, Lee leaned back against the loveseat. ”And if it is…” Lee said, the crease still between her brows. ”I mean, I haven’t had anything that could be measured in anything more than hours in the last 15 years…”

He nodded, understanding what she meant when she said how short-lived her relationships were. "Yeah...I think you're the first girl in a decade who's seen the inside of my apartment twice..." he murmured softly as he bit his lip. He too, took refuge in his coffee at this moment as he thought, about this for a few moments, then looked back at her.
"My first reflex would be to ask what we have to lose, then," he mused. "I mean, I'm already a nervous wreck with insomnia and who fights bouts of depression," he said with a small shrug as he took another sip into his coffee, closing his eyes for a moment. "But there it is; I've plead my case," he said as he pushed his glasses up a little after opening his eyes to look back over to her.
His heart caught in his chest a little, still wondering what would happen next. Though, at least it wasn't as awkward as it had been.
He hadn’t had another woman, she was the only one, who had even seen his apartment twice in almost as long as she’d been doing the same. But then Jason asked a question, and Lee whispered an answer without even realizing that she had opened her mouth. ”Just each other…”
But Jason continued, apparently pleading his case. For what? Having a relationship, with her? Lee shook her head slightly as she looked into her coffee cup. ”The sex was pretty damn good,” she finally said, turning her head only enough that she was able to look over at Jason. Then she gave him a slight, one sided smile. ”That wasn’t a one night only thing, was it?”

"Yeah...losing each other would be the risk...but...think of the gain," he said, merely planting the idea on the table and letting it sit as she spoke again. He took another sip of coffee as he too sported a rather mischievous smirk.
"Yeah, that was definitely a plus..." he murmured, looking over at her. "And from where I'm sitting...worst case scenario...we can make it a two-time thing...though...." he sighed slightly as his smile faded again. "I think that'd make me want more even more than I do now," he said, his voice almost a whisper. With that, he finished his coffee and got up to put the empty cup in the sink.
It was only when Jason confirmed that the risk of trying would be losing each other that Lee realized she had spoken out loud. And she blushed slightly. She hadn’t meant to say that out loud. But think of the gain? Well, the sex had been great, and breakfast afterward had been pretty nice, too. Much more enjoyable than eating on her own, at any rate.
But then Jason mentioned that it could possibly end up being a two-time thing, and Lee’s eyes darted to Jason’s. Would having sex again, spending another night together, make things even harder if nothing else came out of it? If that was the case, would that be proof that trying this was worth the risk?
Lee honestly wasn’t sure whether it was, whether it would be worth the risk. But the fact of the matter was, even before she had seen him tonight, Lee had been thinking about Jason much more than she ever thought about anyone.
By this point, Jason had gotten up and made his way into the kitchen. Swallowing, trying to ignore the flipping feeling she was feeling in her stomach, Lee stood up walked into the kitchen herself. Setting her mug on the counter as she approached, Lee stopped in front of Jason, though not quite close enough that they were touching.
And just stood there for a moment as she tried to find her voice. But nothing came out. So Lee dropped her eyes, hesitating for a moment as she took another deep breath, before she reached out for his hand.

As he put his cup in the sink, he peered over the counter at her. She was quiet, and he wasn't sure how he felt about that. He knew she was just thinking it over, but he didn't know what direction her mind was taking all of this. Then again, he wasn't sure where his mind was taking this. It was as if time had stopped around them, and there was this odd heaviness in the room.
He turned away, and after a moment, Lee was standing in front of him, still silent. But she was close; not quite close enough that they were touching, but then she reached for his hand, and his instinctively met hers halfway, gripping it gently as he just gazed into her eyes. God those eyes were captivating. Even as he looked at her, a smile began to reform on his face. He took a breath, albeit it was a little sharper than intended. He just looked down at her, unsure of what to say.
As Lee was reaching for Jason’s hand, she saw him moving his to meet her, and she smiled slightly. Even if this was the opposite of what she was normally after, the smile was still there. Once their hands were clasped, Lee slowly turned her eyes up to look at Jason.
And her breath caught in her throat as she saw the look in his eyes.
After a few moments, though, the smile slowly disappeared as her lip went between her teeth. And she started to look almost a little worried. ”So where do we go from here?” She asked. ”Cause I honestly have no idea.”

He looked in her eyes, still sort of dreamy-eyed, and then Lee spoke, and it snapped him out of it. "Honestly? I have no idea either. I mean, I'd say take it slow, but how do you do that considering where we started?" He asked with a shrug as he let his thumb stroke her hand as his other hand reached for her free one. "All I can say is...maybe we just see what happens? At least then....we could say we tried..." he murmured.
God he hoped he was making sense. But at the moment, he didn't care. This made sense to him after all. And...he had to admit he liked where this was going...
Lee couldn’t help but laugh when she heard Jason’s words about whether they could take things slow. ”I think you’re right there,” Lee said, a small smile curling the corner of her mouth as she felt Jason grabbing her other hand.
See what happens? Well, this whole night had ended up being a ‘see what happens’ kind of night, and this is where they had ended up. And Lee had to admit that it was a much better feeling place than she had been in when she left the bar.
So Lee nodded, even as she felt his warm hands on her still chilled ones, a thumb rubbing back and forth. Lee shivered slightly; apparently she hadn’t warmed up fully yet after being outside without her jacket on. ”I guess that makes sense, to see where things go,” Lee finally said as she looked up at Jason, then smiled slightly. ”I mean, the other night did turn out rather well.”

Her hands were still cold, so he continued stroking them with his thumbs, and it was only then that he realized they'd left their jackets on. Then again, this wasn't exactly like that first night where they were anxious to get undressed. Tonight was...different. Sweeter, and yet touching on a more serious matter than that first night had.
"It's true that last time went much better than expected, especially considering I didn't even think you'd talk to me. Honestly even tonight's going better than I thought it should," he murmured as he looked down at her again, a soft smile returning to his lips.
Lee nodded as she heard Jason speak. ”It certainly did,” Lee said softly. ”You're the first person I stayed around long enough for there to even be the chance to have breakfast.”
Standing there, holding hands as she looked up at Jason was nice, but as another shiver ran through her, Lee looked down a little in embarrassment. ”I probably should have remembered to actually put my coat on sooner than you reminded me to.”

"Yeah...normally my breakfast consists of a cup of coffee. But I knew from the beginning there was something special about you. And special girls get special treatment," he murmured with a smile. Then, she shivered again, and she mentioned how she should have put her coat on sooner. He'd already had the heat on, so there wasn't much he could do there.
"Well, let's see about warming you up. There's always more coffee, or I could toss another blanked on the bed..." he said softly before he pulled her a little closer, wrapping his arms around her in an embrace. While his jacket was still on, it was at least unzipped. And he was rather warm, so maybe this would be a start. After all, he didn't want her to freeze; especially not in his apartment.
His breakfast was normally just a cup of coffee? Other than the amount drank, that was exactly what her breakfasts normally consisted of as well. It was difficult to make food when you barely had the energy to stand upright, after all.
When Jason let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her, Lee took a small half step closer to him, snuggling up to him. He was quite warm standing there, and even though they still both had their jackets on, his warmth felt good. ”As good as your coffee is,” Lee said, not moving her head from where it had come to rest on Jason’s shoulder. ”And believe me, I’m picky about coffee, I think the bed would be a much more enjoyable way to warm up.”

Sliding his jacket off wasn't hard to do, and he was positioned so it would rest neatly on the counter. Thankfully, it was unzipped, and it was just so she wasn't impeding anything by being this close to him. Once it was off, his arms were right back around her, one hand running through her hair, as it seemed to love to do.
He smiled as she spoke, giving a slight chuckle. "I was sort of thinking the same thing," he murmured, not moving from this spot just yet. It was sweet, and he could get used to this. Or he'd at least enjoy it while he could, anyway. "I'll get the blanket in a minute..." he murmured, turning his head and leaning to give her a kiss on the cheek.
