The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He kept telling himself that Lee wasn't fully aware of the conversation, but...he still couldn't shake those feelings. It still cut pretty deep. But instead, he focused on his conversation with Kevin.
"Red's a good color; I like blue," he replied. "Tigers, huh? Yeah, that's a good one. I like tigers too. Especially the white ones." He gave a smile as he began to relax a little. Engaging Kevin was helping take his mind off of the implications of earlier, even if it was probably not what he thought.
It couldn't be, could it? Though he was smiling, his eyes had dropped a little.
”White tigers are so cool! Kevin exclaimed, and even out of the corner of her eye, Lee could see the boy practically bouncing in his chair. ”I saw white tigers at the zoo this summer! I can show you sometime, do you want me to?”
Well, Lee thought as she glanced over at Kevin with a smile. This was going better than she had expected. Well, except for that weird mood Blaine suddenly seemed to be in.
After a quick glance down at the plates, Lee made a decision and ate the last bite of food she had. ”I’m going to go get dessert,” she said.
”Dessert? Yay!” Kevin cheered, already starting to get out of his chair.
”Not yet, mister. You can have dessert when you finish your plate.” Then Lee looked over at Blaine with a small smile. ”You want to come see what they have for dessert with me?”
Then, Lee suddenly asked if he'd like to check out the dessert line with her, and he looked up, his gaze softening a bit. Then, pushing his empty plate back, he stood up, offering his hand to Lee as he slowly made his way to the dessert. His mind still sort of wandered back to moments ago, but he was almost certain Lee didn't have a clue, so it was hard for him to stay upset, in this case.
And apparently a trip to the zoo was in their future. The zoo itself wasn’t much of a surprise; Kevin was very much his father’s son in his love of animals. But the fact that Kevin already seemed to be planning a trip there so he could show Blaine the white tigers...So far so good.
At least Blaine was up for going to get dessert, which meant that she was able to talk to him without little ears listening in. So Lee stood and started walking around the table when she saw Blaine holding his hand out for her. Smiling, Lee took his hand. She hadn’t even broached fact that she was dating Blaine when she had talked to Kevin, but Lee wasn’t about to pass up Blaine requesting contact with her. If Kevin asked about it, she’d tell him.
Just like Lee knew she was going to have to talk to Rachel about all of this later. A fact that was magnified by the look Rachel gave her as she walked over to the buffet holding Blaine’s hand.
”What’s wrong, hon?” Lee asked softly once they were far enough from the table that her family wouldn’t be able to overhear.
He walked with her to the dessert table, and looked at her when she asked what was wrong. "It's probably nothing," he started. "I'd sort of mouthed to Rachel that I can't feel anything, which started the whole awkward conversation. It may have implied that didn't matter, but like I said, it's probably nothing because I didn't say it out loud." He paused a moment as he thought.
"I just don't think someone as young as Kevin needs to know I can't feel the wind, or the cup in my hand, or things like that, ya know? That'd probably be a little deep for someone his age." He gave a small smile as he started putting desserts on his plate.
Lee closed her eyes and hung her head a bit as she realized how Blaine took what she had said to her sister. ”I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” Lee said, stepping up beside Blaine as she watched him putting desserts on his plate. ”Rach was going to ask how...we do certain things, and it doesn’t matter whether she knows. And Kevin already knows more about certain things than I wish he did, so you’re right, if we can keep that from him, at least for a while, it probably would be best.”
Lee took a step closer to Blaine, looking up into his eyes. ”It’s not that it doesn’t matter,” Lee continued, taking a deep breath as she tried to put words to her thoughts and feelings. ”But we’re not going to let it stop us, right? I mean, we haven’t yet, have we?”
"Yeah, I figured that's how you meant it," he said. "And why how we do...certain things...would be a rather amusing story...I don't think it's one to be told in a Chinese restaurant in the presence of a six year old," he murmured softly with a light chuckle. Then, he nodded at the rest of what she said; she did make some good points. And they agreed that Kevin shouldn't know the full extent of his abilities right now, which was a plus.
"No, it hasn't. Besides, having to rethink things keeps you on your toes," he teased lightly as he finished his plate, then looked at her, waiting before he started to the table.
Now that she had explained herself, Blaine seemed to be more understanding of it. And in a better mood, even teasing slightly. That being the case, Lee finally turned to the dessert table and started picking things off to put on a plate. It really didn’t take long, she only grabbed a couple of things. Lee never actually got dessert when she ate here, preferring to just have her fill of the delicious chinese food. This had just been an excuse to get Blaine alone for a few minutes to talk.
”Oh, you need to keep me on my toes?” Lee asked as she turned away from the buffet, pausing to wink at Blaine before she started walking. ”I think I need to work harder to keep you on your toes, because you keep me on mine every time you kiss me.”
Reaching the table, before she could even sit, Kevin jumped out of his seat. ”Can I have dessert now? I finished all of my food!” He asked.
”Yes, Kevin, you can,” Lee said as she sat back in her seat. Before the words were even fully out of her mouth, Kevin was off. ”Walking, please!” She called after him.
He chuckled. "Good. I was afraid you were getting used to that, then I'd have to think of something else," he teased, walking behind her as she headed towards the table. Now that things were cleared up, and they'd had their playful jabs, he was considerably more relaxed. And then he had to chuckle as Kevin was off toward dessert.
Honestly, he'd never really dealt with children, but he figured gentleness would work better than his usual tough guy routine. Because he didn't think kids went for the big scary guy, in fact that probably scared them, right? Once settled in, he looked down at his plate, which was pretty much as full as his dinner plate had been. In relative silence, he started eating, not sure of what to say, exactly.
”So what was that all about?” Rachel asked once Kevin was away from the table and both Lee and Blaine were sitting down again.
Lee looked across the table at her sister. ”All what?” Lee asked before lifting her fork with a piece of cake on it. ”I wanted dessert.”
That said, Lee continued eating, turning her eyes to the desert table to see what Kevin was getting up to. He had a plate held carefully in both hands and was peeking up to see what there was for desserts.
”Come on, Lee,” Rachel pressed.
Lee finished chewing as she stared across the table. When her mouth was finally empty, she slowly set her fork back on the plate and speaking softly. ”Maybe I just wanted a few moments alone with my boyfriend?”
Blaine listened to the back and forth between Lee and Rachel. Emily? He hid his smirk at the thought; he didn't think the name was funny, just adorably fitting. Though he wasn't about to tell her that; not now, anyway. However, a part of him wished he was better at the witty quips and smart-ass comments, coupled with the humor. Without that, he felt he'd be unable to diffuse this situation.
But he felt some of this tension had to be quieted down some way. So, after swallowing a mouthful of cake, he finally spoke. "I really did want dessert, and we also wanted some time alone. Not everything was meant for a child's ears," he said, looking back in Kevin's direction for a moment before going back to his cake. Whether that made it better or worse remained to be seen, but hey, at least he tried. After all, in professional fighting, even if you don't score the knockout, you still get points for landing a punch.
The moment that Lee heard Rachel use her whole name, she glared at her sister. Rachel knew that Lee didn’t like that name, and she was the person in her family who normally accepted and used ‘Lee’ most often. This was just a low blow.
But because Lee was busy glaring at Rachel, and luckily for him, she didn’t see Blaine’s smirk. At least he said something, helped explain. And based on the number of things that he had on his plate, it was pretty obvious that he had wanted dessert.
”And some things are just private,” Lee said, just as she saw Kevin coming back to the table. Taking another bite of her cake as she waited for her son to sit down, Lee looked at his plate. ”Chocolate cake and mint ice cream?” Lee asked with a shake of her head. ”I should have known.
”Of course!” Kevin exclaimed, looking at Lee as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. ”They’re the best!”
Blaine let out a quiet sigh of relief as the situation died down; though that may have just been because Kevin came back. Thank the gods for the little kid. Though he wondered if those two were always like this, or if it was just because Lee had a boyfriend in the mix now.
He let out a chuckle. "Hey, chocolate and mint is quite the combination," he said with another small smirk. "I'm partial to peanut butter myself, but mint's a close second." Looking down at his plate, he finished off his last few bites.
Rachel was quiet now that Kevin was back at the table, which Lee was quite happy about. And Kevin was quite convinced that his dessert choices were the best things in the world. Lee smiled and shook her head at him again. Just as she heard Blaine say mint was his second choice, after peanut butter.
”Both of those are good, but they don’t even compare to cheesecake,” Lee said, looking over at Blaine. ”Unfortunately, you never find a decent cheesecake at a buffet.
”Really mum? Cheesecake is gross,” Kevin said, wrinkling his nose at Lee
”Oh boy, you don’t know what you’re missing, Kev,” Rachel said, shaking her head at Kevin.
"Cheesecake is in a league all by itself," Blaine said as he looked at Lee. "It's really not fair to compare anything to it. Though a good cheesecake can be hard to come by," he mused for a moment, stacking his clean dessert plate on top of his clean dinner plate.
"Though, a good chocolate cheesecake? That's the holy grail, right there," he murmured with a smile as he leaned back in his chair, relaxing a little.
