The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Only Number a Waitress Wants From You is a Tip
Today was a pretty good day at work. She had friendly customers, she had some pretty darn good tips. But, as usual, the dinner time rush was dying down. It was getting slow, a steady customer here and there. It was the more relaxing time of her job. She was able to clean some tables, assist with the kitchen crew (even though they had a bit of a feud,) and even help out the other waitresses with their tables if they needed it. The only problem with it was that it got too slow. Her mind would start drifting and she'd find herself being waved down by the hostess or someone else.
Granted, one thing she wasn't too happy about was her uniform. She still complained about it.
Her mind drifted back to her job. It was going pretty well, all things considered. Her best friend worked here, she had a pretty fun boss to work with (minus the extensive cigarette smell that radiates from her all the time,) and she makes pretty good money - especially considering she's just a waitress. It wasn't a job she'd want for long time or anything, but it was something that was holding her over until that next opportunity came along. She sighed, yawned, and covered her mouth. She checked her watch. About another 45 minutes to go. Ughhh.
She stared out towards the window when she saw a large group of... Soccer players, maybe? Coming towards the store. Oh no, oh no... That wasn't a good sign. She held her breath, hoping they wouldn't come in. That was a big group of hungry teenagers... Oh boy...
Dressed in his sweat-ridden, grass-stained soccer uniform, Ricky chanted happily alongside his teammates, their voices deep and loud, as they playfully shoved each other through the front door of the Wallflower Diner.
“NYU! NYU! NYU!”
They didn’t bother to wait to be seated. Why would they? They were regulars. It was a tradition for them to go to the diner after every victory, and they had been winning a lot lately. In fact, ever since Ricky joined the team, they did nothing but win.
And it was time to celebrate.
“NYU! NYU! NYU!”
They continued chanting in unison, pumping their fists into the air like the winners they were as they strode past the reception desk and toward the first empty table that came into view.
She stared out the window as they turned and... Dangit, they were totally coming here. She had heard from some of the other waitresses that a group of boys would come in every now and then in soccer uniforms. It looked like it was her lucky shift. She just really, really hoped that they would tip. Sometimes, it felt like younger, college students didn't care enough. They were shouting NYU, though, so it was a good chance she'd see them more. That was her college of choice, after all.
She perked a brow as they simply ignored the hostess and went straight to the tables. The hostess didnt' seem to mind though, she looked like she was nearly drooling over several of the soccer players. Celeste rolled her eyes, mainly to herself, and then she decided it was probably time to go over and introduce herself. They seemed happy, probably just won a game. She was making a lot of assumptions and she immediately felt guilty for it. They were just customers wanting some good food and she'd be happy to serve it.
With her mind back in the right place, she went over to the large group and gave a friendly, small smile. First steps were introductions, after all, "Hi! I hope you guys are having a good night. I'm Celestina, I'll be your waitress for the night." She took a breath, it was going to be hard remembering all of these drinks, "Will these be separate checks or together...?" Please, please be together. At least, please let it be not 12 separate ones.
Once that was confirmed, she would begin taking orders for drinks, "So, what kind of drinks would you guys like? Let's start over here..." She motioned towards the one at the very end of the table, closest to the door. That should be a good order of things... If they go with it, at least.
