The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Celeste was nervous. She and Jude had been texting pretty much non-stop since they met each other at the mansion a few weeks ago. The only break they seemed to had was when one of them was sleeping or they were really busy working. Celeste would sneak texts in all the time at her work. The first text she got him from was some type of picture - which loaded as a bunch of crazy symbols and code. Her little flip phone couldn't handle it. On the plus side, her phone could handle all the photos now. A brand new, updated iPhone with the powers of a Mac. She didn't really like Mac computers, but she was really enjoying her iPhone. It was fun, ShatterTexting people, FaceTiming, and iMessaging. Granted, she'd avoided most picture related apps with Jude - it made her nervous to take a bunch of pictures and send them to the guy she liked.
They had texted about their next 'friends gathering' or 'date' or whatever they wanted to call it for a while. She had referred to it as both, he seemed to learn more towards her initial friends gathering. So, she finally decided they'd figure it out when they were actually on this friends date thing. She, however, was personally going to consider it a date and do all the necessary preparations for a date - hair, outfit, shoes, the whole picture had to be just right. Of course, it needed to be comfortable - they had decided to go to Playland Park, an amusement park in Rye, Northeast of the Bronx. After careful consideration and several switches in her outfits, she finally decided on a floral print sundress and a cardigan - it was a typical Celeste outfit, one she felt comfortable in. Plus, the evening might get a slight chill with the changing of season.
Once she had that all finished, she left her hair down but brought hair ties in case she needed to tie her hair up. It was always good to be safe than sorry.
Once completed, it was time for the subway and bus ride - they had agreed to meet there, mainly because it would take extra long for one of them to go to the others via the buses and subway. After she arrived, she stopped and sat down on a nearby bench. She had a mixture of butterflies and nervousness all in her stomach or was that the same thing? Either way, she fiddled with her fingers while she waited for him to get there. Checking her watch, she was about 20 minutes early than they agreed. In the meantime, she decided to watch as people passed in and out of the park - families, couples, individuals. All sorts of people came and went from the park. Most seemed pretty happy going in and left seemingly happy. That was a good sign for their day.
She just needed to keep her butterflies under control, especially once Jude got here. They had been talking a ton, so it wasn't like they were complete strangers or anything, but she just couldn't shake off that first serious date, friends gathering, thing nervousness and excitement!
It would be lame if he brought flowers, right? Jude had feeling about flowers. Flowers meant he had feelings. But... didn't he? They had clicked right off the bat, but he was just scared to overwhelm her somehow. Or was he underwhelming her? Maybe the answer wasn't flowers in the plural...
Jude left the flower shop with just one: a gardenia bud attached to a hair clip. Maybe a pin would have been better. Or maybe nothing. People seemed to freak out when he bought them things, but he liked to. It was an amazing step forward in his life that he had the means to buy things on his own.
But he'd probably spent too long debating at the flower store. He ended up later than he meant to be, a little disheveled because he'd hurried. His shirt was clean and, though it was a button up, he'd rolled up the sleeves so that maybe he wouldn't be too fancy. He'd cuffed his jeans and worn his work boots because the $800 shoes he'd taken from Jaager's closet were still a hair too big for him and he didn't want to trip.
He stopped to settle his hair when he caught his reflection in the ticket booth window and then sent a text to let her know he'd arrived, just one minute after their pre-arranged meeting time had ticked past. He was keyed up with energy for days. Nerves sort of had that effect him.
Here! I'm over by the ticket line. Dark blue shirt.
Now all he had to do was hope she showed up. She would, right? He fiddled with the little white pin as he scanned the crowd.
Celeste waited for Jude, enjoying her moment of relaxation. It was nice to just people watch for a bit - plus, the weather was perfect. It was a great day to be outside. She checked her watch. It was time for him to be here, but no sign of him yet. She checked her phone but also nothing. She bit her lip, her nerves increasing a little. What if he didn't show up? What was she going to do? Just get back on the bus and go home? That would be embarrassing... Even if no one knew any different.
But, one minute later, she got a text message from him. Dark blue shirt and at the ticket line. She perked up immediately and began to walk over, although a little slowly. She checked her hair with her camera, just to make sure it looked at least relatively good. Impressions mattered, right? When she was satisfied, she stuffed her phone back into her purse and walked over. It wasn't hard for her to notice him so she gave him a small wave as she came up to him.
Should she give him a hug? Or just smile and say hi? She was going to go for a hug. She wrapped her arms around him really quick as she gave him a quick hug, "Hey! How was the ride over?" She let him go and gave him a big smile. Ugh, what if that was too much? She guessed she'd find out in a second. She was so nervous she hadn't even seen what he had in his hands. Now that she had a chance to look him over, though, he looked absolutely attractive. Plus, ready for a fun day of roller coasters and other things!
The hug was so quick, Jude only got a one arm pat in return. He'd been nervous, about the clothes, about the timing, about the place. Her smile afterwards erased all that in the span of one stuttering heart beat. Wow. She wasn't just gorgeous. She was radiant.
"Honestly, I don't remember the ride. I was so excited. I mean, I am so excited. Still. I've never been to an amusement park before." The excitement was easy to own even if it wasn't all about the rides. Jude held out the pin.
"Here. I got you this, I hope you don't mind." Watching her face for clues, he hesitantly explained. "It's a gardenia. I know it's all closed up now so it doesn't look like much, but it still smells nice. And, it's supposed to go in your hair. Which. Maybe that was kind of presumptuous." But it could have been a dozen and now that they were here, this little thing seemed waaaay more appropriate.
"The lady at the shop said gardenias mean "hope" and that kinda seemed right." That it was all wrapped up tight right now. That it smelled sweet. That someday that little bloom would either open up and be beautiful... or it might just wither away. It just seemed right.
"I didn't do all the normal kid stuff. How does this work?"
She gave him a big grin after the hug, content with her one arm pat. He didn't reject the hug, which is what Celeste was nervous about.
She giggled and perked a brow, "Well, they're pretty fun! It's been a while since I last went to one. Plus, it's perfect weather to do it. And there' might be some Halloween stuff they're setting up, too! But um, yeah, I'm really excited too. It's really good to see you again." At least, some amusements park had already began their Halloween preparations. She didn't see anything about Halloween with this park when she looked them up, but that could just mean it's not advertised.
Celeste looked at his hand as he held out the pin. She gave him a smile and took it in her hand then smelled it, "Thank you so much... It's really sweet, Jude." She pulled the flowery pin into her hair, pulling some of her bangs up. Her heart warmed up somehow even more at his explanation of a gardenia. It seemed kinda right for both of them, really. Celeste, being the huggy person she is, decided it was time for another hug. There wasn't much words could say but she could show her appreciation. She wrapped her arms around him again and gave him a little playful, sweet squeeze. She even lingered for a moment with this hug. It felt more serious than a hello. And her nervousness wasn't in skyrocket mode, at least not yet.
When she pulled away, she perked a brow. How did what work? She gave him a puzzled look for a moment before she realized he meant the amusement park, "Well... We just gotta get our tickets, they'll stamp our hands I think... Well, that's what they did the last time I went to an amusement park. And then we just go get in line at the rides. Hopefully you're not afraid of heights," she nudged him playfully. Fear of heights and roller coasters tended not to go well. She paused, "Or have a heart condition, because you can't ride them in those situations, either," she murmured, more as an after thought than an actual comment.
With a shrug, she took his hand in hers and moved forward in the line. Once at the ticket gate, she held a receipt from where she secretly already bought the tickets for the two, so all they had to do was get their stamps, or bracelets, which as it turned out, this place didn't do that. They were now at the entrance of the park with a map, "Sooo... Which one do you want to do first?"
She liked it. She liked it enough to put it in her hair right away. There wasn't much of a height difference between them, but as it was with the clip right there in her bangs, he got to see it right front and center. He even got a bonus hug. He didn't know what to do with a bonus hug, but he did at least have time for use of both arms. Celestina was very huggable.
"You go first and make sure it's not poison." He teased, but she wanted to go first anyway because she'd gotten their tickets. Chivalry wasn't dead. It had just turned into a two way street.
"No heart condition and no fear of heights." He had to laugh at both of those. "I trained to face off against criminals in adversarial situations and sometimes I fly. On actual wings." It was weird that she didn't know that, but why would she? He'd already removed Astrid's wings that day they met.
She took his hand and was champing at the bit for him to pick. It was all pretty funny to him, doing kiddy stuff like this. "Uhh. Let's see. I think the ferris wheel needs to be saved for after dark. Then we get to see city lights, right?" He scanned around, totally out of his depth. He picked one at random. "The Centrifugal Enforcer? It's way at the back. If we're trying to hit everything, we might not make it that far back if we don't start there." It was as good a reason as any.
"When were you last at an amusement park like this?" This time it was his turn to excitedly tug on her hand. They had to walk down the yellow path and hang a right at the Sidewinder which was an enormous rail line rollercoaster that probably hissed like a snake or something silly like that. He had every intention to ride it too.
Celestina liked giving Jude hugs. He smelled good and was warm. She didn't say that because she felt like it would have been a little weird, but it was true. She made a mental note to get Jude hugs as much as possible. She chuckled at his comment. She was a fair commitment partner - both sides needed to do their fair share to nurture the relationship... Er, friendship. That included paying for events out and about. While Celestina didn't make too much money, she had plenty of left over money from her waitress tips and her paycheck every two weeks.
She nodded quickly and then laughed. He was in security, so it made sense that he was trained to fight people. However, she wasn't entirely expecting his confession about flying. It wasn't entirely unsurprising because he could just take someones mutations and fly off, on the other hand, it's not every day someone just mentions they can fly in the sky. She perked a brow, "How is it up there? When you're flying?" She was pretty curious - she had never been on a plane before but imagined it had to be one heck of a view.
But, back to the important parts, which ride should they ride first? She agreed that they should save the Ferris wheel, "Definitely save the ferris wheel for when it gets dark. Gosh, it is going to be so beautiful seeing the city lights so high up." She nodded at his decision for the Centrifugal Enforcer. Sounded like a great plan, actually, "Perfect! That way we can try to hit as many coasters as we can!" She gave a playful grin as they took off towards the Enforcer. She made some mental notes on which coasters she might like to ride as they rounded their way to the back of the park. Definitely the sidewinder and definitely the Challenger, a basically upside down roller coaster. She shivered at the thought of being hung upside down but it made her super excited.
She bit her lip for a moment, in thought, "I was... 10, actually." She laughed, "I somehow managed to sneak on to every single ride, too. I wasn't tall enough for any of them but I rode every ride in the park. I can't even remember it's name now... Eh, either way, I can only remember fun things from it." She had been a little surprised that Jude had never been to an amusement park, but plenty of people hadn't, "I'm kinda surprised you haven't been to one. There's a few around here. There was only like one in Regina. Well, back then, anyways."
When he was flying? "There's nothing else like it. With all the winged mutants in the city, I'm surprised we've never had a crash. I'll have to take you some time. I mean, I think that's possible. I'll have to ask." If he took Ghost's power, sure he could but that wasn't exactly the traditional flight experience. He'd ask Gina or Astrid if they could. Or, maybe he'd ask if they'd even tired...
There was something endearing about the way Celestina got excited about everything. He was already excited to be here, but being here with her dialed it up to 11. They were practically racing to the back of the park and both out of breath by the time they got to the line.
"I started classes at the Mansion when I was 10. They don't exactly take field trips. Maybe they should... Anyway, I only came to the States when I was 9, but I think I told you what a pill I was."
Jude craned his neck to scope out the line. They had time for a little story it seemed. "Did you ever hear about that shared dream phenomenon that happened maybe... 9 years ago? All those people who had nothing to do with each other all had a dream, the same dream, about this disaster that ruined the world.
I was one of those people. And so was the X-man Ghost. In that dream, I lived a whole 10 years of my life that never happened. In that dream or future or... whatever, I worked with Ghost to try to save the world. So we knew each other. But we never actually met until she went allllll the way to my little village to see if there was any truth to that dream.
And there I was, trying to convince people that the end of the world was coming and telling them that I was a mutant despite presenting no signs. Everything's all different now, but I definitely did some of my life out of order. I was pretty mad to be 9 again so I did everything in my power to get my mutation active and to be treated like an adult.
That made kiddie stuff like amusement parks not really an option." He hadn't been interested before, but now that he had a reason...
The line moved at a decent pace. It must not have been a long ride.
"I told you it was kind of a long story." He shrugged sheepishly. "I try to avoid telling people usually. Sounds pretty out there, right?"
She nodded. She couldn't imagine how awesome it must be to fly across the fly. Well, except for potential bugs in the face. She thought the gesture was sweet, but she wasn't sure how safe it was, "Well... So long as it's safe, at least. I'd prefer not to fall to my death." She chuckled a little, but was serious. She had plenty of preferred ways of dying and falling from the sky was not one of them.
She gave him a big grin at his comment about the pill he was. She couldn't help but giggle. But, it was important stuff to know about him - he came to the U.S. when hew as 9 from France. Celeste hadn't been long enough at the school to really know about their field trip policies but it didn't exactly seem like the kind of school that would really want to get involved in field trips. After all, they are technically trying to help educate young mutants on how to control powers. There was inevitably some bigots who'd probably cause an issue.
It was a bit of a line, but Celeste was pretty happy either way - she had Jude's hand intertwined with hers and she was listening to him tell his story. She didn't even have to ask, he confided it to her. That made her glow. There friendship and romance was growing and that made Celeste really excited and happy, but a little nervous. All those butterflies inside her just couldn't get out.
She shook her head. She had never heard of the dream phenomenon. She was fairly sheltered from mutant related things, especially until she was 13-14. Her parents were hugely against mutants. While Celeste never felt that way, even before her own mutations manifested, she didn't hear anything in the news about things going on. She was pretty sure she never had a dream that was shared by other people, either. Maybe she just couldn't remember it? It didn't really sound like a dream, though. Like at all.
Celeste listened intently as he told his story, nodding occasionally. She was pretty sure that wasn't a dream - if a bunch of other people had the same dream, there was no way it was. So, that meant he lived in the future. 10 years worth of it, actually. She clearly had a perplexed face as she listened and processed what he was saying to her. It must have been crazy frustrating practically restarting his life at 9 years old.
She bit her lip as she contemplated her next words, "Wow... That had to be insanely frustrating, to practically start over like that. Especially, since you already had all of those life experiences."
So the X-Man Ghost was his guardian on the X-Men that he mentioned when they first met. She rubbed the back of her neck, "I'm sorry you had to go through that." She paused again, thinking, "But, I gotta say," she nudged him playfully, "I'm glad you ended up coming back and ended my age at, um, the same time as my age? I think you get what I mean?" She turned a little red, realizing she completely fumbled over her wording. Time related issues were confusing.
Celestina was just so intense. She zeroed in on his words and, while he used to brag about 'being from the future' or having seen what the future was like, now he was more mature. He knew it was just one more thing that made him not fit into the normal. As if mutants were normal, but at least some of them had a set path and direct understanding of how to move forward in their lives. Jude just. Didn't. Fit.
And for a moment Celestina chewed her lip and looked as if she was puzzling that through. It could have gone either way. She opted for humor and the chuckle he replied with was equal parts amusement and relief. So. He hadn't scared her off just yet.
"Yeah. I think you're pretty lucky. Hope you'll share some of that." He booped her nose and tugged her forward in the line until suddenly it was their turn. Jude passed through a metal turnstile and they were ushered into a very large cylinder that was lined with fake grass and smelled like corn chips.
"Stand with your backs against the astroturf. Make sure your feet stay behind the painted line. If you have any loose items, please stow them..."
Jude worked to follow the instructions and was more than a little surprised that there were no seatbelts or anything like what he'd seen in movies. Of course, there were no guys with guns either, so... maybe that was okay...?
A buzzer sounded and their cylinder started to rotate. Faster and faster and faster. It made a bunch of the participants laugh, including Jude, when they were pushed against the astroturf just from the force of their spinning. He turned to watch Celestina and the rotation began to get fast enough that his cheeks were flapping. That's when their ride started rotating in other ways. Which ways? It was really hard to say from inside, but Jude did see the ground at one point and the sky at another.
Celeste couldn't imagine having lived so much of her life to just wake up some odd years earlier. It kinda actually triggered a little bit of fear - what if everything she's done so far is just a dream that she's going to wake up from some odd years in the past, with none of this happening? No Jude, no Xavier's, no NYU. Ughhh. She nearly wanted to pinch herself but didn't. That probably didn't work for him, either, though. Of course, it was amazing to hear that something like that even happened. People were in the future actively working to save our the world or something in those lines. It sounded exciting but really frustration, at least once they came back to this time.
She gave him a smile after he booped her nose, she leaned against him as they waited in line - until it was there turn! "I usually wouldn't agree that I was that lucky but I am pretty lucky, pretty lucky to have met you." That was quicker than she expected. She decided it'd probably be best to get her hair up, so she took a hair tie out and pulled her hair into it's usual bang and buns. She followed instructions, putting her back against the astroturf. She gave Jude a big grin... And then it began to rotate. She laughed with everyone else as she pretty must plastered onto the wall due to the force.
She looked over to Jude as they spun around and around and around, occasionally seeing a sky and a ground. He was even adorable with his cheeks flapping around. Her cheeks were flapping around now, too. And her hair. She gave him a goofy, cheek flapping grin.
After several minutes of twirling the riders back and forth, it finally came to an end. It left Celeste a little wobbly as she regained her footing, mainly she was a little dizzy from the event, "Wow, that was wild. I forgot how fun those kinda rides are."
"Did you see that guy across from us? His shoulders were flapping and I thought he was gonna take flight." That whole ride was a trip and it continued to be funny when everyone wobbled like kids who had spun too fast and couldn't keep their equilibrium. Jude squished his cheeks which were feeling a bit flappy after all that and then squished Celestina's cheeks with more than a little giggling chuckling.
Their obvious next stop was the next coaster. Whatever one it was, Jude couldn't tell because the Centrifugal Enforcer's exit pretty much dumped them right into a sidewalk and the flow of people put them right into line. Huh. Maybe this was how it was supposed to go.
"Uh. If you were worried, I really am this age. For a while, I stole powers that would make me older. As old as I felt. I ran off and got a job and paid my bills. It was okay and all, but there's only so much you can do when you don't legally exist. Ghost made me choose, be legal or be old and I figured I could grow old later." Which sounded pretty funny when he put it like that. Jude shrugged it off. "And in the end it didn't really matter anyway. My powers have grown to kind of regulate me back to my real self anyway."
What line was this?
"Okay. Your turn. Give me your deep, dark chocolate secrets." There may or may not have been some omnomnoming.
She laughed as they exited the ride. She had to be careful to make sure she didn't trip over herself, or over anyone else, or really anything. Her entire world was still spinning. Once she was able to regain her footing, she nodded and laughed some more, "Oh my god, what if someone actually did like start flying? Or if someone had wings and somehow they got like out and it just shot them out?" That probably wasn't something to laugh at, but she could only imagine it like a cartoon. Specifically, that show with the roadrunner and coyote. She wasn't really sure why that is what went through her mind.
It looked like they were almost immediately into another line for another coaster. She squinted and stood on her tippy toes, trying to make out. It was actually a fairly long line, which was surprising. She finally caught what looked like a mouse's face so she realizedit must be the Wild Mouse roller coaster. It was a bit rough, but it was a fun ride. At least if she was remembering correctly.
She listened as he explained that he was, in fact, this age. he used to steal powers to make him older. And then Ghost made him make a choice. She nodded, gave him a very serious look, "Well, I'm going to need some government issued ID then. For verification purposes, of course." She had tried to stay straight faced but it quickly came undone and she was laughing. Once she was a little under control, she nodded more like normal, "Well, I'm glad you're not like 14 or like 29 or something. I don't blame you for wanting to do that, though. I mean, you had technically already lived it once before, so it made sense to do it." She gave him a warm simle, "But, um, I am glad that you decided to be legal." She gave him a nudge, "Otherwise, we might never would have met."
The line started moving a little bit, so she took a quick glance on her tippy toes again. They still had a while but the line seemed to be moving a little faster, "Who is Ghost, actually? She was your guardian that you mentioned before?" They had never went into details about guardians and family stuff. She knew it seemed to be a bit of a sensitive topic for him. It was a sensitive topic for herself, too.
She perked a brow, "My deep, dark chocolate secrets? Ummm..." She paused, contemplating for a moment. "Well... My story isn't nearly as interesting as yours with the whole time travel situation that happened." She sighed, "I would say... I accidentally made my entire classroom sick one time. I was still learning how to control my powers and it just happened. They had to quarintine the entire room and have it sterilized." She shrugged, "But otherwise, I mean, I just studied as much as possible and hanged out at the library. so, nothing exciting. Pretty basic, like me." She winked and chuckled at her own joke about herself. She knew she had not basic feelings and tastes, but some self-depcrating humor was always fun.
Of course, Celeste didn't really have the opportunity to do anything fun. She never got a TV, computer, or books. She literally was only fed and clothed by her parents and anything else came from the library, doing odd end jobs like babysitting, until she finally got a real job as a Starbucks Barista. She had played video games at her friends houses and she loved every minute of them. It was just the way her world was at the time.
And with that, they were getting waved onto the ride. After getting latched in, and a few minutes of safety checks, the coaster began to shoot off. The ride was pretty rough as it made very sharp turns with no slowing down and Celeste's heart nearly jumped out of her chest a couple times. She gave Jude a huge grin on one of the worst turns as she was lunged sideways and then lunged back into him.
"Ghost? Yeah. She's the one. She's an air elemental and she's an X-man. She used to have a bookstore that I helped out in and... I dunno how to explain it. You should probably just meet her. She's good, more good than anybody else I know, but she's kinda got her head in the clouds. Really, no pun intended. She... I asked her for the space to be an adult when I was a kid... and she respected that. That's cool and all, but, I don't know. She's not my mom, but I don't exactly have anybody." Was it bad that he'd wanted her to insist? That he wanted her to fight for him? When she put her foot down about the age thing, he hadn't been happy, exactly. But he'd respected the hell out of that ultimatum.
The whole 'normal kid' thing was alright. He'd done that in his dream, what felt like almost 20 years ago. "I mean, making your class sick sucks, but there's nothing wrong with studying and stuff. Grades are worth something..." He snickered. "I mean, that's what they tell me anyway."
He shuffled forward with the line as they chatted and before he knew it, they were getting seated in a little 4 seater rollercoaster buggy thing.
"This one somehow seems less safe." The seat restraint didn't even reach either of their laps. Too late! They whizzed off down the track!
Jude was more concerned about slamming into Celestina than he was about falling out. Despite the lack of restraints, the track was mostly level. A few bunny hops and sharp turns at max speed made it a more exciting ride. He did his best to cushion Celestina when she bumped into him and found that it was a nice fit with her against his chest. After that he held on and each slam back and forth was just that much more exciting.
This time when the ride ended, nobody was walking funny. He'd never seen a ride with just 4 people in it like this one, not even on tv. Jude released Celestina back into the wild so they could both climb out.
"Did you like it?" He may or may not have had a growing interest in what she liked...
She nodded and then perked a brow. Air elemental? That was pretty cool. She wondered exactly what he meant by air elemental. She could just control air? Could she turn into it? Lots of questions but unrelated. Kinda. She gave Jude a little chuckle at his 'no pun intended' comment. She actually hadn't caught it as being punny at first, anyways, but it was funny that he felt like he needed to clarify that. And it was kinda punny. Of course, there was nothing funny about the situation he had found himself in. She couldn't have imagined it was a great experience for either of them.
Ultimately, she nodded, "Yeah, I would like to meet her one day." She tried to think of an encouraging response to the latter portion of his comment, but felt like she was coming up short. "Well, I mean, I only know a little bit. But um, she might not be your mom, but it does sound like she cares about you. She probably only did what she thought was best, even if it wasn't. I mean, if I was you, I would probably have wanted her to want me to be a kid. I always wanted my parents to suddenly support me, fight for me, you know, parent stuff." She shrugged, paused, and hoped she didn't touch a nerve. She couldn't speak for Jude. Her and his situations were pretty different, but she felt like they could relate in similar ways. She had always imagined that, eventually, her parents would apologize, support her, and fight for her as a person. She had left those hopes and dreams in Regina, though. There was no reason to expect that to ever change. Celestina had decided she was fine with it, anyways.
"Anyways... Family comes in all shape and sizes. I'm still learning that." That touched home a little bit - when she moved to NYC, she was alone until she met Norma. Norma had been her family since then but she had passed just a while ago. She had sent a few texts to Jude about it, but she hadn't really talked about it since it happened. She really didn't want him to find out she was sleeping on a couch at Booker's apartment, her volunteer boss dude, and that she was practically living on a couch until she could find a new place to live. Jude and her were pretty open with each other but she felt like that may have been a little too much to spring on him this early in their relationship. Plus, her goal wasn't to scare him away. She hadn't really had this type of feeling about a guy before and it would suck to screw it up because of a crappy situation.
She chuckled, "Yeah, grades and stuff. It's how I got into NYU so let's see if I can get through that."
She nodded, "I think it is safe... Maybe not as safe, but.. Uhm... Excu--" She tried to get the attention of one of the... What did someone even call them? The roller coaster guards? It was too late - they were already off without being buckled in. That had made Celeste nervous but the extra adrenaline was pretty amazing. Of course, her nervousness of being thrown off the track pretty much disappeared when she realized that Jude had wrapped her up in his arms. She did her best not to smash him, but she definitely didn't have a problem with him holding her. She fit pretty nicely against his chest, too.
She hopped out of the ride, happy that they didn't die, but a little sad that their small cuddle was over already.
She nodded and gave him a big grin, "I did, it was amazing." Of course, the amazing part was being with him, but she didn't want to tell him that. She gave him a softer smile, "Did you enjoy it? That was your first realish roller coaster, right? I mean, it's not a real, real coaster but it's a pretty good intro coaster."
