The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Sure, I wouldn't mind helping out... I'm going to help give you a little bath, okay? It wont be too bad!"
Angua made a whining noise, and wagged her tail some more. Gawain was not sure if she was aware what kind of a trap she was walking into, but at least now there were two of them, and Celeste could assist getting the hound at least marginally cleaner before she bolted again. He grinned, and began leading the way out of the maze, one hand on Angua's collar to keep her from getting lost again.
>>"Um, I might need a change of clothes afterwards though. Is there a place to get some around here...?"
"Well, we have all kinds of spare clothes inside" Gawain nodded towards the building, then glanced at Celeste "You're a commuter student?"
Celeste got down on her knees and kept petting Angua, "Don't you worry, it'll be over before you know it." Her baby/pet voice with sympathy was probably a bit confusing for poor Angua, who was about to be ambushed in a bath. "Do you usually wash her by yourself?" Celeste couldn't imagine getting her into a tub, let alone getting to the actual shampooing the dog. After a few more minutes of loving on the doggy, Celeste got up and brushed her knees off, then her hands to get some of the fur/dog feeling off of them.
Celeste followed behind Gawain and Angua - hopefully Angua wouldn't decide to make a run for it. She was prepared to tackle the dog if she did, though. She was not about to stay in this stupid maze any longer.
>> "Well, we have all kinds of spare clothes inside. You're a commuter student?"
She nodded, "Awesome. I have some money, so I can pay... Whoever. Or I can wash them and bring them back... Whatever." She furrowed her brow. Granted, that was presuming she was borrowing and partly presuming there was a store? That probably wasn't the smartest thought on her head.
She nodded at his question, "Yeah, I live about a 20 minute bus ride away." She figured she could go more into her living arrangements if he asked but explaining that she met a random old lady at the library who needed help around her place and then offered to let her live in wasn't something that she needed to ramble on. Maybe her work on her rambling was paying off!
>>"Don't you worry, it'll be over before you know it. Do you usually wash her by yourself?"
"Sometimes." Gawain smirked "Sometimes I ask someone with water powers to help, but Jorge has been busy lately."
It was so much easier to wash Angua when the water could chase her down.
They walked out of the maze, and Celeste asked about clothes. The Mansion had a large supply of those in stock; some people arrived without anything, being runaways of kicked out of home, and some had powers that came with accidents tat destroyed their outfits all the time. Spare clothes came in handy in either case.
>>"Awesome. I have some money, so I can pay... Whoever. Or I can wash them and bring them back... Whatever. Yeah, I live about a 20 minute bus ride away."
"So, would you like the spare clothes before or after you get soaked?" Gawain grinned, nodding towards the side of the building where an inflatable kiddie pool and a hose waited, in the company of some bottles of dog shampoo. This was not going to be a neat operation.
>> "Sometimes I ask someone with water powers to help, but Jorge has been busy lately."
Celestina nodded with agreement, "Makes sense. I'm guessing Jorge can just let the water fall on her?" She had never met Jorge, but it seemed like that was his power. Not hard of an assumption. Assumptions tended to get Celeste into trouble though, so she always had the tendency to ask.
Celeste took an audible breath of relief once they left the maze, so grateful they were out of there. She made a promise to herself to never go back into that darn maze.
>> "So, would you like the spare clothes before or after you get soaked?"
Celeste scanned over the kiddie pool. It was a bit away, but it seemed kinda small compared to Angua. Was Angua going to even fit in the kiddie pool without popping a bunch of holes in it? If they managed to keep the kiddie pool puncture free, Celeste would be giving them both some serious kudos. She bit her lip, deep in debate for a moment. "Well, I don't want to risk losing her again, so I say after. But I really don't want to mess this dress up, so I say after. Do you have a way to keep Angua in a safe spot where she won't get away? If not, let's just do it now."
>>"Makes sense. I'm guessing Jorge can just let the water fall on her?"
"Yup." Gawain grinned as they rounded the corner; the kiddie pool was not nearly as impressive as the Mansion's actual swimming pool, but Jorge had done some spectacular things with it in the past. That was one of the reasons why Angua eyed it with such suspicion. "He also teaches swim classes."
Celeste was going to help, but before she could she would probably need some new clothes, Gawain decided.
>>"Well, I don't want to risk losing her again, so I say after. But I really don't want to mess this dress up, so I say after. Do you have a way to keep Angua in a safe spot where she won't get away? If not, let's just do it now."
"Let's go get you a change of clothes" Gawain made an executive decision, steering Angua towards the building by her collar. Since they were going away from the pool for the moment, the hound followed, and allowed herself to be steered into an office. Once she was safely locked in, Gawain led Celeste to one of the supply closets down the hallway, and produced some boxes of spare shirts, pants, and the like.
"The counselor stocks them here in case we get students who need clothes." he explained "Or of someone's power destroys their outfit or something... It happens more often than you'd think."
Celeste nodded. Maybe she would meet this swim teacher at some point. Celeste didn't really know how to swim besides a barely-stay-afloat doggy paddle, so Celeste was content to stay relatively away from deep pools.
>> "Let's go get you a change of clothes"
Celeste nodded, following Gawain as they went to trap Angua in a room. She whispered over to Angua, "Don't worry, we'll be right back!" The dog probably would be a lot happier if we didn't come back, actually. Boy, was that "little" puppy in for a surprise.
>> "The counselor stocks them here in case we get students who need clothes. Or of someone's power destroys their outfit or something... It happens more often than you'd think."
She smiled, "That's a really good idea, actually. I bet a lot of kids come through who have some issues with their powers and stuff." She remembered when she was first experiencing her powers, "I had let out radiation on my arms, hugged my parents, they both got so sick. We ended up going to the hospital and when they found out they had radiation poisoning because of me, they totally panicked. It was on my clothes." She had felt so bad when that initially happened, but honestly, they totally deserved it. She really wanted to laugh about it, but she decided against it. Probably would make her look crazy and mean.
Celeste grabbed a cute little top and a pair of the jeans, and looked over to Gawain, "Is there a bathroom or somewhere I can change or would you like a show?" She winked, a playful grin on her face.
Gawain let Celeste pick out some of the spare clothes; most of them were fitting for washing a dog, so it really was just a matter of comfort. And she had a build that was not too difficult to find shirts and pants for, anyway.
>>"That's a really good idea, actually. I bet a lot of kids come through who have some issues with their powers and stuff. I had let out radiation on my arms, hugged my parents, they both got so sick. We ended up going to the hospital and when they found out they had radiation poisoning because of me, they totally panicked. It was on my clothes."
Gawain blinked in surprise. "You're power is radiation?..." That was unusual. Or rather, not more unusual than walking through mirrors, but unusual in a way that she was so open about it, especially after her own family freaked out like that. Manifestations like that tended to make people cautious with talking about potentially dangerous abilities.
>>"Is there a bathroom or somewhere I can change or would you like a show?"
"Are you offering a show?" Gawain shot back with a grin, before he nodded to the door of the storage room "Let's wait for Angua with the wet t-shirt routine. I'll wait outside."
Celeste could tell she caught him by surprise, his facial expression gave it away. She wasn't too sure if he was comfortable with the fact that the girl next to him was practically a nuclear fuel rod or if he was just surprised she just openly admitted it like that. In either case, she nodded. This was going to be her school and he probably would be training her at some point, at least it sounded like. "Yeah. I can release radiation and stuff. Either through my arms or my entire body, " she shrugged, it was pretty cool, but it had some pretty bad drawbacks too. She carefully made out the next couple words, "I can control it. Lots of dead plants later, but I can." Hopefully he wouldn't think too much different about her. Radiation did have the tendency to freak people out.
"Are you offering a show? Let's wait for Angua with the wet t-shirt routine. I'll wait outside."
She laughed, then nodded. She shut the door and switched her outfit into the regular clothes. A few minutes later, she popped back out. "Alright, let's get to business!"
Gawain really did not want to make the girl uncomfortable with his surprise over her powers. She could probably see it in his face, though, because she decided to explain a little more, and assure him that he was safe.
>>"Yeah. I can release radiation and stuff. Either through my arms or my entire body. I can control it. Lots of dead plants later, but I can."
Dead plants. Control. It was probably not a power easily controlled, so she was already better than some other students at the Mansion. That was good. She was also... flirty, and Gawain smirked as he left her alone to change. She did, quickly, and appeared again a few minutes later.
>>"Alright, let's get to business!"
"Let's." Gawain grinned, walking back to the office to let Angua out. She must have senses what was coming, because she tried to bolt; Gawain had to hold the collar with both hands to keep her from running away. With great effort, he managed to drag the dog out of the building and to the kiddie pool, where she began to whine in complaints at the sight.
"Alright, so... I'm gonna hold her, and you just... turn the hose on and try to aim?"
Poor Angua. Celeste really did feel kinda bad for ambushing the poor dog. It wasn't really the dogs fault she naturally would get dirty and a bit smelly, being well... A dog. Celeste tried to love on Angua as Gawain forced her to go to the kiddie pool, "Hey, girl, it's going to be okay! It won't be long," she mused to the dog. In either case, when Angua saw the pool Celeste gave up on any type of vocal comfort to the dog.
>> "Alright, so... I'm gonna hold her, and you just... turn the hose on and try to aim?"
That was a pretty simple way but he would probably end up being a casualty with the water. She nodded and went over and picked the hose up, aimed it carefully towards Angua. She squeezed the trigger and boom, water flooded out of the exit of the hose, pretty much drenching the dog in a matter of a minute or so. And partially Gawain, too.
She kept the hose with her as she went and grabbed some of the dog shampoo bottles and prepared to begin lathering Angua up with them.
With significant effort, Angua was dragged into the kiddie pool, and Gawain put her in a form on lock so that she could not easily wiggle out. Had she been a little smaller, he could have straddled her, but given her size, he simply clung on and hoped for the best. It would have been unreasonable to expect to stay dry during this operation, which is why he was wearing an outfit that he could power-wash right after.
Angua wiggled and splashed when the hose turned on, and Gawain held her firmly until most of her hair (and definitely his everything) was soaked. Celeste made an executive decision and brought the shampoo over, which was nice, because Gawain was still holding the dog that was now getting excessively slippery.
"She will smell so much better after..." he muttered, scratching Angua behind the ears "We probably won't, but she will..."
Celeste poured the shampoo onto poor, soaked Angua. Celeste felt pretty guilty about tricking the dog. Angua was probably going to hate her now. She whispered to the dog as she scrubbed the dogs back and hind legs, "It won't be long, don't you worry, Angua." Her primary goal was to get the spots where Gawain couldn't reach, like her back and back legs. Once she scrubbed them hard and good, she herself was soaked due to how much water was coming off of Angua's fur.
>> "She will smell so much better after... We probably won't, but she will.."
Celeste laughed, "Yeah, we're totally going to start smelling like dog soon. Hold on, let me get the hose again to wash off the shampoo." She quickly walked over and grabbed the hose and began washing parts of the dog off as she rubbed through the fur, including where Gawain had scrubbed already. Celeste made sure to get as much of the shampoo out of her fur.
"Hopefully this school has some showers we can use..." She could already smell the wet dog smell on her. But hey, Angua was smelling pretty darn great now!
>> "Yeah, we're totally going to start smelling like dog soon. Hold on, let me get the hose again to wash off the shampoo."
Angua ahd been thoroughly shampooed up, so now it was time to wash all of that off of her, leaving a wet yet definitely cleaner hound. Celeste handled the hose well, managing to rinse suds from all parts of Angua while Gawain massaged the soap out of her muzzle and ears. Angua made whining noises, but did not bolt.
>>"Hopefully this school has some showers we can use..."
"It does" Gawain chuckled, shaking some water out of his own face "I'll give you the grand tour when we're done. It's kinda my job, after all..."
Once Angua was rinsed off, Gawain patted her on the head.
"Alright, you can go now, girl. Ready? One, two..." He jumped back as ANgua bounded out of the pool, almost slipped, and then stopped to shake a tsunami of water out of her fur. Gawain held up his arms to shield himself, but to o avail - everyone and everything within radius was hopelessly soaked.
>> "It does. I'll give you the grand tour when we're done. It's kinda my job, after all..."
She sighed in relief, "Whew, that's good to hear. I really don't want to smell like dog. Can we start the grand tour after some grand showers?" The smell of wet dog made her feel a little uneasy in her stomach. That very well could have been her not taking her medication when she was suppose too, though. She was about 30 minutes late.
She gave Angua one last little scratch, "You did such a good job. Don't get too dirty now."
Celeste was already soaking wet, but she let out a little eep and tried to run away from the dog as she began to send a wave of water over her and Gawain. "Well, that's reasonable revenge, I guess, Angua," she muttered to herself. She grabbed the bottles so she could drop the empty ones in a trashcan on their way back inside the mansion.
>>"Whew, that's good to hear. I really don't want to smell like dog. Can we start the grand tour after some grand showers?"
"Definitely." Gawain agreed whole-heartedly as Angua splashed out of the pool, leaving puddles and suds everywhere. Both of them needed to clean up and put on dry clothes at this point. Angua topped the whole thing off with a revenge-shake, which made Gawain duck and Celeste squeal.
>>"Well, that's reasonable revenge, I guess, Angua,"
"Shoo." Gawain waved the hound away, and Angua trotted to lie down under the nearest tree. She would sulk and dry for a while, but she would be all the better afterwards. Gawain led the way inside the Mansion once again, leaving some wet footprints on the way to the dorm wing.
"You can use the shower in here" he opened up an empty room "I'll go use mine. Meet you here in a few?"
Cleaning off the dog shampoo and the dog hair was marvelous, and so was putting on clean, dry clothes. Gawain's hair was still damp, but he looked less disheveled, by the time he made it back down the hallway to wait for Celeste.
