The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Thank you...Been while since anyone called me a lady, but thank you"
It was hard to turn the charm off, not that he was specifically going out of his way the charm the woman. She was quite pretty, yes, but that wasn’t what this was about. He wasn’t out to just invite the killer back to his place, rather, he wanted to see what she thought of his setup. According to her, this was the kind of thing that she was used to in her world; she suffer infamy and being recognized as a killer of humans. That alone made her a righteous addition to the Syndicate family, if he ever saw one.
Then again, he needed to see just how willing she was to work with the group. If she proved to be a preferred lone wolf, well, that was something he was willing to respect but he also had to ensure that she wouldn’t be a danger to his operations.
After making their way through the city streets, leaving the carnage behind them, Jorge led the woman into the empty night club, sighing as he breathed in the scent of alcohol being uncased and the cleaning crew getting things together for the evening. After Aura made her way down the elegant staircase, Jorge followed after and took a second to just admire the beauty of what he had created, the thing that he knew would carry him far and wide so long as he kept pushing in the manner that he did.
As they made their way in, Jorge didn’t push the woman to talk, instead taking the silence as necessary for her to absorb the fact that she was in another reality. That was difficult news for anyone to take in and, truly, he hoped that it was something she was willing to accept rather graciously. For the most part she seemed to; actually, she seemed somewhat amused.
>>"Well this is certainly better then a warehouse, or the forest. An impressive set up...Life is funny in some ways, a Decade ago i was fighting an endless war in a forest with the belief i would never see 15, now im over 20"
He smirked as he made his way to the bar. The woman behind the counter who was restocking, gave the man a pleasing smile. He gestured for a drink to be poured for him, including one of whatever his new friend wanted.
”Sometimes all you need is the willpower to beat back those pesky notions,” he said to the mutant with a grin. ”With enough strength of will…” he held his drink to her with a grin. ”You can accomplish anything -- even surpassing the odds.”
With a sigh he let the relaxation roll over him. After that tussle, he was certainly looking forward to some down time. SUPER would be like a swarm of angry bees, sweeping over the area, cleaning up the mayhem they left behind. In a few hours Jorge was sure that any evidence of the battle would be swept away and there would be an even bigger price on his head.
>>"So how did you become such a great defender of our people?"
He smirked a bit and sighed as he thought back. ”It was the internment camps. I was living down in Florida. Parents hid me because they didn’t want to me or my sister to be caught. We were both mutants.” His eyes grew a bit distant. ”My sister was...beautiful. Could make sparkles of starlight dance from her fingertips and the ends of her hair. Nothing dangerous at all. But when the registration act occurred, some jilted lover turned her in.” Another shake of his head as he took a sip. ”My sister died in one of those camps. A week before they were overturned and mutants were set free. I knew that, if I wanted to honor her, I had to do something.” He waved aroudn him. ”So I built this. And, when I came to New York…” a sly smile. ”...myself and a few others, well, we built so much more.” He leaned in as he whispered. ”We built a family.”
She waived of the drink, not normally one to drink. What could she say to his comment? he has right and her lack of will power, her inability to follow orders and slit her wounded friends neck to keep him from capture had lead to the deaths of many of her friends and those who most of her first memories were formed with. It was a night so scorched into her mind she would see it every night after she closed her eyes.
The interment camps she had heard of but never really experienced. She had heard a lot of stories though and not one of them would ever be made into a Disney cartoon and Jorge's story was no different. His story was a core reason Aura could live on with the blood on her hands. She knew she prevented stories like this from happening. It took her a moment to recall this was not her her world. Her actions had helped no one here other then the rat guy from earlier, still it was odd how familiar the words on jorges lips were. When he mentioned family Aura closed her eyes for a moment.
"I had two families, I watched Humans kill one the other fell apart due to lack of direction. I tried to save it but I'm no leader, i'm a front line solider. I Know how to kill people not lead an organization and put a plan past wipe out humanity. she said with a sigh. She had wished The order had lived but she was not the one to run it.
"Sorry about your sister, your story is echoed on my world. I Have talked with many like you. Far to many of our people have such horrible pasts. I wish there were more like you, who saw the need to protect our people, to fight for the world we deserve. It's far to rare on my world. " she said the frustration in her voice echoed by the brief pops of pink around her. Aura truly believed humanity could be defeated if they all banded together and fought as one but how much of that world would be left was a question to be answered by someone else.
"It certainly seems like you have built much, all you have shown me sings of a bigger organization at work. You knew the tactics of those you fought and responded in kind and effectively, like you had done so before. Plus the dead humans don't seem to have weighed on you to much. You don't get that unless you have a lot of blood on your hands one way or another" she said sure Jorge had likely ended a large number of peoples lives. A positive note she liked was the guy seemed to have direction something Syn had always lacked and that while Lori had, Aura had disliked the methods. She was a woman of action and was much more at home in combat that collecting up insure premium dues.

It was bittersweet to listen to Aura’s story. It was good to know that he wasn’t the only mutant to take up the cause of protecting the rights of his people, but it was saddening to learn that two separate institutions had failed. Aura herself had apparently tried to make it work but admitted that she couldn’t lead, she worked better down in the trenches. He could respect that, someone who knew where they would be most effective. Too many organizations fall due to leaders overstepping what they have the capability to do.
Shaking the thought from his head, Jorge refocused on the young woman, thinking back to the alley and the mayhem that she was able to incur. Those SUPER agents really were absolutely butter to the blazing hot knife that this woman was. Honestly, if there were another like her in this realm, he would have snatched her up as quickly as possible.
He explained a bit about why he created what he did, even going so far as to speak about his poor, fallen sister. She didn’t deserve the fate that had befallen her and he would make sure that the world of humanity understood that.

”That is tragic to hear,” he admitted. Mutants, no matter where they were from, needed to band and defend themselves. To know that such a thing failed in Aura’s own dimension was terrible. Jorge had already made strives towards these thoughts, but it was even more important now with the more he learned about this dimension. Something should be done...

Jorge offered the woman a knowing smirk. Taking a sip from his drink, the businessman / crime boss dipped his head, confirming that her assumptions about his life steeped in blood was correct. Killers, well, they could just smell it on one another and even if he hadn’t witnessed the horror show that she partook in, he would have known. But that gave the man an interesting idea -- if a soldier needed an army...why not join one?
A slick smile, Jorge took another sip from his drink as he faced her. ”You know, you really do have a knack for what you do. And you clearly have the experience working besides people such as myself.” A pause to let what he said sink in. ”Would you be open to trying another family? From across the dimensional void?”
"I would like that very much. I don't like being on my own to tell the truth. You see, once i had command of a small group back in the forest where i learned to fight. One day my best friend was injured and could not make it back to base, protocol said to slash his neck and run, but i could not do so. He was captured and he sang like a bird. Not 24 hours later i woke to the sound of falling mortar and screams. I was trapped under the collapsed roof of my barracks whiel i listened to every one i knew die. " She paused a moment, recalling the haunting memories before continuing. "The point is orders are orders, your word will be law, i may not like your orders every time but i will follow them no matter what they are. After all orders are orders even suicidal ones." she said recalling the old mantra that had been drilled into her head.
"I Will not make that mistake again. You seem to have our peoples best interest at heart and that is all i really care about. For our people to live without fear, most of humanity if not all must be scrubbed clean or controlled if only for their ability to make more of us. Either way their is a load of blood and violence in front of us" she said simply and easily. She would die one day on the battlefield and she knew it.
"I thank you for your faith in me, and i am very glad for it. As i said i don't like being on my own, a fmaily keeps me grounded and from less pointlessly risking my life. A few months ago after the order finnaly failed for good I raided a facility working on a mutant cure i knew was heavily defended. Took an RPG to the back of the head, a friend pulled me out and saved me life but i was in a coma for awhile" she admitted not really sure why she mentioned it. She had told everyone else she ahd no memory of how it happened but that was a lie. She knew what had happened, she had tried to get herself killed. With no family, no direction she had nothing she had felt to live for, now however she had this new family and she already could feel the relief within her. Had Jorge not offerd she might well have asked to jojn herself.

Poseidon knew talent when he saw it and, with Aura, he certainly saw talent. She was vicious, a real go-getter and believer in the mutant cause. People like that Jorge appreciated because he knew just how valuable they could be to his operations. They were loyal, they followed orders, and yet they were able to take the initiative when they needed to. In many ways, the woman reminded him of Duke, his most loyal. Aura would certainly be an excellent addition to the Syndicate, specifically with her being from another world, a concept that got the wheels of his mind turning.
So the offer was made. He essentially viewed the SUPER agent butchery back there as her initiation and, if so, she certainly passed with flying colors. But did she even want to take him up on his offer? If she did, well, he could certainly just send her on her merry way. Certainly it would not be wise to set someone loose with knowledge of his operation, but aside from their chat, she didn’t know enough to really pose him any threat. As it would turn out, though, she seemed to have already come to a descision.
>>"I would like that very much…”
He smiled and dipped his his in acknowledgement. She went on to explain her life before, how she had lived life as a soldier, denied orders, and watched as she and her people paid the price for it. Truly it was tragic, but it also turned into a lesson for the young woman. She wouldn’t go against orders and she would do what it took to ensure the safety of her kind. To that, the man was most eternally grateful.
With a pleasant smile, Jorge held his hand out to her, in a kindly, accepting way. To anyone passing, he would have appeared like a grandparent or older uncle offering his congratulations to a younger family member; that was what the Syndicate was...it was family. Careful he would shake the woman’s hand, before covering it with his over and giving her one more firmer shake.
”Then, my dear,” he said softly. ”Welcome to the Syndicate.”
