The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Yeah, Rianne was just all round awesome. She could sing, she could dance, she wanted to keep people safe. It was almost enough to make a girl jealous, couldn't she have just one flaw? But no, she also looked killer in a dress and, as much as she hated admitting, she had much nicer legs than Cait did. These were all reasons she needed to hang out with her and learn her ways.
"That's really admirable, there's not many people I meet who feel that way," take a nice slow drink before continuing, "I can understand the draw though, wanting to do more for people. Always makes me feel bad when I can't do something to help."
She did need to be careful, as great as Rianne was, she was still a police officer and the X-Men were hardly operating with any kind of official sanction. Although, maybe she'd be able to get a read on her general feeling of them? Maybe see how someone on the force sees them.
Cait survived her bout of laughter just barely. That name was just too damn cute. "Whoever came up with that name is a genius and you should totally have hats made up. That would be the best thing ever."
Take a languid sip and glancing around the bar, there were some good people up singing finally and everyone looked like they were really enjoying themselves. Cait couldn't lie, it was pretty cool that they'd help make everyone feel better. "Feels great to get away though I bet. I know I need the chance to switch off and not have to worry about playing or band mates for a night."
Always makes her feel bad when she can’t do something to help? Rianne felt the same to an extent. For her it was more that she had to make an effort to help. ”I don’t feel bad if I can’t help. I can’t abide me not trying though.” Cait’s attitude was one that was commendable though and Rianne thought more of her for it. Being police, fire, or EMS took a special kind of person. While she wasn’t crazy enough to be a first responder like Rianne, it was clear Cait actually cared and wanted to help. ”I don’t know what all would be applicable to you, but I can teach you things so you can be more helpful if something happens. First aid, how to barricade a room, self defense. Stuff like that.” Most of her other skills were more geared toward someone running toward the gunfire to answer it in kind.
”I call him the Butt-Fairy, the guy who gave me the name. He’s a Fed who tried to be funny, set himself up for that name.” She grinned. ”I think I won that day.” She took a triumphant sip of her drink.
Get away? As much as Rianne could she get away from it she did enjoy the time not being Constable Barbie. ”It really is. At work I have to put on the cop face and attitude. Anything can go from calm to a fight for your life at the drop of a hat. It is incredibly draining. So I like to go out and be silly and have fun when I can. Hence karaoke and the outfit that is the complete opposite of my work uniform.”

She wasn’t about to say no to some free, police style training especially if it would help her brush up her CQC skills. “I’m not one to say no to such a kind offer and any more self defense training is always a good thing. It’d make my mum happy if anything. She always had me learning some stuff growing up, thinking it’d make me safer. You know how mums are.” Although most it of came from Becca, she was basically another mum anyway, so it wasn’t like she was lying.
Snorting a laugh at the name she’d retaliated with, she had to agree, Rianne had won that encounter. Taking a few more sips of her own drink aswell, she could see why being a police officer could be so draining. Cait was only a part time X-man and it could be rough, she couldn’t imagine doing it as a full time job.
“Days off are always needed,” smiling at her she continued, “and the best way to make new friends!” Making friends was the best activity ever after all, no matter what some grumps kept trying to tell her.
“Got to admit, you’re killing that dress Rianne, can’t help but wish I could wear them after seeing someone pull one of so well” Her actual mum would probably love that too, considering all the fights they had growing up about them. Shopping for prom had been….interesting. “Although it is sometimes hard to beat a woman in uniform.”
Cait was game for self defense training. Rianne made a mental note to shuffle her schedule enough to allow for weightlifting and self defense training with Cait. Not a big deal and definitely worth it to hang out with her new friend. ”My mom likes that I can take care of myself. She doesn’t like that I have to put myself at more risk though… she doesn’t say it, but I can tell. Her and Daddy both just want their little girl safe. I think my becoming a sniper put them a little more at ease. I’m less likely to be in the middle of something nasty.”
Rianne smiled and took a drink when Cait snorted. Payback for the ‘happy to see me’ joke. Now Rianne wasn’t the only one who had snorted.
Days off were certainly the best best way to make new friends, Rianne had to agree ”Yes! I couldn’t agree more.”
Then Cait complemented Rianne’s ability to rock the dress she wore. ”Thanks, but it was just something I threw on. Easier and cuter than having to mess with pants.” And they looked much dressier than they were. ”I don’t wear a normal NYPD uniform. I have a load bearing vest, a bunch of packs that hang at my side, and normally a helmet. I wear a ballcap! Perk of being the sniper.” As Rianne described her tactical gear she made hand gestures trying to show the size where stuff was worn.

Yeah, parents would always worry, not matter how big and badass their little girl got. In fariness, they'd worry more if they actually knew what she did with her time, running around in costume stopping crimes as a vigilante. That would be a bit harder to justify then being a musician. "Hard to imagine you ever being anyone's little girl, but that does sound familiar. I think I'll always be that wee kid in pigtails to dad."
Cait had trouble believing it was that casual a process and if it was, it was even more unfair. Some women just looked soooo good in anything they put on, she kind of wished she didn't need to put in that much effort. Or she needed Raine to give her some fashion pointers.
Grinning at the motions Rianne made, "I will say, one good benefit of music work is the lack of uniforms. As long as I look half presentable I'm good to go. Don't know if I can actually go back to a job that needs them at this point." So yes, her X-Man outfit could be called a uniform, but that didn't really count right? It was more like, a costume really.
Taking on last long sip of the drink and giving it a good shake, it looked like she needed another and it looked like Rianne could to the same. "Right, next rounds on me! The nights too young to end it here." New friends were as good an excuse as any to get very merry with your drinks. Clearly she had fun, since the rest of the night became a blur from that point on.
At one point she might have made a promise about the gym. Or Jim. Maybe it was John?
