The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(( OOC: Continued from main dining room thread. ))
Devon smirked at the batman villain comment. The Brits were always spies or villains. Hollywood did a good job of that. Speaking of, where was James?
>> ”Thank you for throwing this and thank you for the invites. Food smells delicious.” the icemancer said eyeing another tray of food.
"I'm glad we have you," Devon nodded once more to Cold Steel. >> "So, what's on the itinerary for tonight, Devon?" She asked curiously.
"Thanks, but you and the other volunteers have helped a lot. I'm glad we have you as well," he chuckled. He cast Frederick and Spasm a glance before continuing, "Besides all the food in here, we've got the BBQ and food trucks outside as well as carnival games. Some artists will perform on stage but once the sun goes down we'll have a DJ and dancing sponsored by Chrysalis.
"Inside we've got information about joining, volunteering, or donating to Sanctuary. We've taken a great deal of time writing up about our community programs and getting some testimonials from our neighbors about the improvements we've made to Sanctuary, " he nodded slowly, knowingly to those around him. They were all working very hard to make this a good place for those in need, even if some of those in need were still otherwise criminal. Those with troubled pasts often struggled before finding new footing.
"And of course in here you can learn about Utopia, grab some food, chat with friends old and new, as well as enjoy the air conditioning," he winked at Cold Steel. "We've had some new volunteers sign up and some good contributions already. I'm quite excited to see it all come together."

Sam didn’t smirk till Juliette hit him and the batman villain with pearly whites smiled as well. This guy screamed bad guy. If he was anywhere else he probably have called someone to keep an eye on the guy but seeing as they were at the Sanctuary he knew the last thing the place needed was any more uniforms. The police and the Order who was affiliated with the Sanctuary never got along, it was one of the reasons he was still surprised to see so many officers. Off duty and on.
”I was kidding, I make the same jokes to Kaz all the time. You dress like a villain or one of the guys from a prince video expect a few jokes.” lied Sam as he agreed with Juliette only to not offend anyone. Speaking of Kaz he was surprised ‘The Artist Formally Known As Elf’ wasn’t in attendance. Though with his super hearing he might just show after Sam mentioned him. He did that.
Sam then chuckled and nodded to Linley, ”She’s trying. I say please and excuse me now. Still working on thank you and the whole raising the pinky thing.” Sam gestured back to the batman villain. ”Not like you two.” he returned the joke back to Linley.
The word barbecue made his ears perk. Sam looked to Juliette as soon as there was mention of a grill. The other stuff was cool but… ribs and pulled pork sandwiches were tough to top, even with a DJ. Sam just wished he wasn’t in a suit now. Barbecue sauce didn’t come out of suits as easy as blood did.
When Devon mentioned the projects the Sanctuary had it was hard for Sam to not thinking of Aura running around town murdering kids. It was hard to separate the Order and the Sanctuary even if the Sanctuary died down into a few angry bone wielding bikini models. They were at one time an issue but after Aura mentioning they were no more and no new information from his shadow, maybe it was time Sam did give them a little slack. Utopia however… he still had to take that with a grain of salt after what Aura mentioned. ”I can always donate.” Sam finally said with a smile. ”Wouldn’t mind hearing more about Utopia either. Got some questions about it.” Sam said thinking a little on it.
Turning back to Juliette, ”Am I too cold?” he asked looking down at himself to see if he was letting off a misty smoke, which he wasn’t. He might have had the temperature lower but sometimes he was oblivious to how cold he was being unless he was really thinking about it.
Juliette pursed her lips a little at the manners comment. Who didn't want to be known as their date's manner professor? Sam at least did a good job of joking alongside Linely, but she remained silent. Perhaps it was just the British sense of humour that was escaping her.
The barbecue and DJ outside sounded nice. They had definitely walked right past the party when going inside, at least they still had the rest of the night to check things out. After a while in the dinning room, the yard definitely sounded appealing.
She glanced around at the other people occupying the room. It seemed that she had looked right over the volunteers talking about Utopia when she first entered. There were representatives everywhere, and one seemed to be talking to a girl with an interesting hair style.
"Yeah, I'd definitely like to hear a little more about it myself," she nodded at the idea of getting some first hand information. Ever since her conversation with Amelia, she had been far more wary about the idea of it, but it would be nice to get some comments from the source. "How did you get connected with all of them?"
Juliette looked back at Sam as he asked about the temperature. Devon had just made a comment about the air conditioning, which was likely directed at him. It was a little colder in the room, but not so much that she figured would give anyone else a reason to notice it. She had hardly noticed it herself, but then she had grown accustomed to the sudden drop of temperature that often accompanied the icemancer.
"I think you're fine," she shrugged at him and then glanced at Devon. He seemed almost on edge around Sam. She cocked her head slightly at him, silently asking to know how he felt.
"This "Kaz" fellow is not someone I am familiar with, he sounds like someone with an interesting look about him, considering what Sanctuary is , I'd assume you'd be more used to eccentric appearances" Moystyn smiled once more, as if he knew such a statement would deliberately make the X-Man uncomfortable.
"Now, Mr Hadden, my associates that pointed me to Sanctuary suggested that this was going to be a fundraiser, I'm sure you'll find the sums I can offer... interesting." Moystyn seemed awfully proud of his own wealth, what an utterly repulsive man Linely thought, while he wasn't one to judge in terms of appearance, wealth was not something to boast about, and charity even less so. "This Utopia sounds like a fascinating concept as well."
Linley laughed at Sam's return quip. "Well, our parents raised us with good British manners , and that's all there is to it." Linely did not share his fellow Brit's interest in Utopia, it was something that would merely cause division and not solve any of the underlying issues that Linely had to deal with on a day to day basis. Still, Sanctuary was a good cause, kept kids off the street, particularly vulnerable mutants. Speaking of which...
"Speaking of helping those in need Devon, how is Esmerelda doing? I hope she hasn't been summoning any more dragons, don't particularly want the place burning down". She had been pretty scared when Linely had found her, and Devon had been there in the nick of time, so he didn't have to lock up a little girl. Always a good thing for police morale.

>> ”I can always donate.” Sam finally said with a smile. ”Wouldn’t mind hearing more about Utopia either. Got some questions about it.”
>> "Yeah, I'd definitely like to hear a little more about it myself," (Juliette said). "How did you get connected with all of them?"
"Yes please, any donation monetarily or of resources and time are helpful," Devon nodded.
>> "I think you're fine," (Juliette) shrugged at him and then glanced at Devon.
"Oh yes, sorry, I didn't mean to make you self-conscious," Devon grimaced as his brow creased. "When I recognized you I checked and saw you were making it cooler. Besides, it's still summer out and I'm sure many enjoy the AC inside," he grinned, nodding to Lindsey and War.
>> "Speaking of helping those in need Devon, how is Esmerelda doing? I hope she hasn't been summoning any more dragons, don't particularly want the place burning down"
"Well that's why they're here and she and her family are doing well! I think she's getting some better control while making the kids so happy during story time," his grin widened, "As far as Utopia, we've had quite a few residents and some other community members interested in it," he nodded again but then shrugged as he continued, "While others weren't, or were at least resistant to the idea." He shot a quick glance to Juliette at that as if to make it clear he wasn't exactly a Utopia supporter. "We thought it best to allow them an informative presentation so I arranged that. They were only too eager to provide."
Devon chuckled, "Even Mr. Jaager himself. He came to speak with us and made some substantial donations too. So in the interests of a neutral party, which Sanctuary is, and because we have many diverse opinions and beliefs here, Utopia's been in contact with us since. They know not everyone will go there, especially some minors, but they're willing to donate and we're willing to allow them a place to stand should anyone wish to speak with them."
"And thank you, you can find the forms out in the hall to help track for tax purposes or you can go through Ms. Wilson to help track large financial transfers," the volunteer manager said, turning to Moystyn. "Honestly, really, any help is appreciated. Helping pay for food, clothes, heating, air conditioning, and more is important. Time and volunteering is great too, like Juliette here who's helped with our medical needs."

”You think I’m fine.” Sam smirked in response after she had said it. He was tempted to take her back away from the table and twirl her a few more times to the conversations around the ballroom but didn’t want to leave abruptly with the batman villain nearby.
Sam looked back to Linley then smirked, ”Kaz is an interesting fellow, not really people friendly but you just got to tell him what you think and it seemed to work for me.” Sam made a point not to mention they shared a bottle of scotch on occasion. Sam shrugged, ”Sometimes more than others. I think the charity balls bring out the most eccentric looking ones.” he replied making sure not to give eye contact to the villain.
”Dragons? More than one?” Sam asked curiously, ”I met one I think… he looked more like a giant lizard.” Sam said flatly wishing he could snag a glass or a bottle from someone. Sam placed a hand in Juliette’s to distract himself from the thought of alcohol.
Shifting his attention back to Devon and smirking, ”Guarantee you’d never find a more powerful AC unit than me.” Sam gave a small example and sent a small breeze of cold Devon’s way before quickly releasing his hold on the air. Sam held his tongue at the ‘neutral party’ comment about Devon made and listened to him explain a little more of the people from Utopia.
Fortunately Sam doubted anyone from Utopia would come to the mansion, it was against the main principles of the school, which was to teach cohabitation with humans. Excluding yourself to a separate continent from humans was kind of a large step back from that. ”Money is easy enough.” Sam nodded knowing he could write a check for a donation. Turning to Juliette he raised an eyebrow, ”Moonlighting at the sanctuary?” he raised an eyebrow.
It seemed that Devon wasn't as keen on the whole idea of Utopia as she had initially assumed. That was good, she nodded silently to herself. He didn't seem like the blind follower type.
Her eyes shifted around the room, studying the various people supplying information about the quickly advancing 'safe haven'. Juliette frowned slightly, her brow furrowed. The information would be biased, without a doubt, and there were a lot of people coming through that had never heard of the place before. A lot of people that were the blind follower types. She was adding in her own bias as she thought, she knew, but she still hoped that some of the people would have the sense of look into the information rather than just take it at face value.
Juliette's attention snapped back to the conversation as a hand was placed in hers. She glanced down at it, and then up at its owner and glanced at him for a minute. There seemed to be almost a flash of worry on Sam's face before he was making jokes again. For a brief second she felt bad about taking away his flask, knowing full well that it would make things easier on him, but she quickly reminded herself that it was for his own good. Not to mention the good of all the other party-goers.
>>”Moonlighting at the sanctuary?”
Juliette bit her lip. She had neglected to inform Sam of her time spent volunteering at the Sanctuary, it seemed. That would, without a doubt, reflect poorly on her loyalty to the place. "Moonlighting, daylighting, every other kind of lighting until there's no more lighting to spare," she shrugged swiped a glass of water off of a passing try. "I haven't been around enough, though. My time has been stretched thin of late."
She quickly took a sip of water in order to cut off her talking. She hadn't told Devon about joining, the X-men, either, and that was definitely not something she wanted to get into right there. It seemed that she had a growing list of important life events that she had simply neglected to inform the people in her life about, and it was causing problems.
"Have you had much interest from people about staying at the Sanc?" she addressed Devon with a sharp eye movement, wanting to change the subject from anything uncomfortable as quickly as possible.
Linely had encountered Kaz in all his elfin cosplay glory. He got the impression that he didn't like him that much. Was not a problem, but he didn't have to crush his badge in the process. He was still waiting on the bill coming through for that.
"Kaz has a way of teaching people manners as well" normally with brute force mind, but it was quite effective from what he had observed. Still, Moystyn was clearly not amused at Sam's attitude, but was being passive aggressive about it. Linely found it very difficult to be around those types of people.
>> "I think charity balls bring out the eccentric looking ones"
"Yes, I mean, look at you!" Linely quipped hoping that Sam wouldn't be too upset at the joke at his expense. "Sorry, couldn't resist the jibe. You walked into that one." Moystyn had gone pretty quiet at Sam's jibes. But then chose to speak "Well if you consider generosity eccentric then I suppose I am" he smiled again, once again being the self righteous fool that Linely considered him to be. >> "Dragons? More than one?"
"Yes, very much so" Linely rarely spoke about cases, but Sam was an X-Man. "She really brings the characters in stories to life...quite literally." The true extent of her powers was yet to be unlocked, and it would be interesting to see the path she would take. Powerful mutants could be a great asset or a great hindrance to general society. "Giant Lizard you say? She was producing fairytale type dragons, they didn't last that long either, doubt it was the same thing..." Linely then trailed off in his thoughts. What kind of mutant would be able to transform themselves into something so powerful? >> "I think she's getting better control while making the kids so happy during story time."
That was heartening to hear, as with many people, mutants were most often defined by how people responded to their powers. Hopefully Sanctuary could make sure she was kept safe from those who would exploit her. "Well, I'm glad she's finding a good use for her powers Devon." He smiled, letting others take the lead in the conversation.
There were a lot of conversations and topics crossing here.
Kaz was an interesting looking fellow that apparently had a wild look about him. Devon would watch for that. He smiled at Moystyn's comment; eccentric indeed. It wasn't a bad thing. Devon knew all people were different; he wasn't naive either. There was usually a reason the wealthy wanted to donate, sometimes it was sympathy but sometimes it was guilt.
There was a giant lizard, dragon like being in the city. What the hell was that?
>> "Well, I'm glad she's finding a good use for her powers Devon."
"Yeah, me too," Devon nodded again. "She's a sweet young girl, and her family are quite kind. They're staying here for now, both doing things for Sanctuary. Very nice people."
>> ”Guarantee you’d never find a more powerful AC unit than me.”
Cold Steel sent a breeze of cool air his way. He felt it like anyone would feel the breeze. Of course, it took some extreme cold to actually affect Tempest. He grinned and made a small bow of his head. There was no doubt someone like CS could out cold him. It was interesting the number of elemental people he'd met. Imagine what they could accomplish together...
The conversation turned to Sanctuary and Juliette's volunteerism. Apparently the X-Man boyfriend didn't know. His arching eyebrows spoke volumes, though his query to her confirmed it. That was interesting. Were the X-Men more opposed to Sanctuary than even Ghost had said? He hoped things were improving past that.
>> "I haven't been around enough, though. My time has been stretched thin of late."
That was true. He hadn't seen her much. Devon assumed with the riots, various demonstrations, etc. that she'd been busy at work. This was volunteer time after all, even if he'd made it into a part time job. This wasn't about attendance, it was about what you gave when you could. That's all anyone could really ask.
>> "Have you had much interest from people about staying at the Sanc?"
Devon saw that sharp glanced and caught it expertly, "Yes. I think our campaign advertising with our partners for the food and entertainment has really helped get the word out. Free food and a place to relax, especially for mutants, will do that. Once they hear they can get a room and find a place to settle in for a while, that helps a lot."
"Of course, some I think want to know about our offerings before they're really willing to stay here," he gestured out to the hall. "We try to offer it all and not put any pressure on what's chosen. Community and all." He paused and bobbed his head from side to side, "I think some too see all this activity and want to wait things out before they say they're staying here. A little fear, but there's some independence you develop when you're homeless. Grow up fast when your parents turn you out." He frowned; he'd been homeless once though that was his own fault.
He finished off his second water and stretched his feet, going up on the front of his toes as his frown faded back into a small smile. "If nothing else, hopefully all learn what Sanctuary is actually about and there's a room here should they need one."
Hopefully that spiel separated the conversation as cleanly as Juliette's cut had intended.

Sam trued not to seem surprised when she said she had been volunteering at the Sanctuary. While he was all for her doing her part and helping where she could the sanctuary was not a place he was the most comfortable leaving his girlfriend or whatever they were unprotected. Sure most people wouldn’t’ do anything to her but if they found out she was an X-Man? Someone might have something else to say to her and the thought of the icemancer not being around to protect her didn’t feel right.
Without even thinking his free hand shot up to find his fingers wrapped around a tumble glass. Sam looked over and then smirked as he removed it from the tray then grabbed another and offered it to Juliette first before offering it up to anyone else. He didn’t see the waiter coming with the glass of scotch. Sam smirked then raised his hand after he had gave up the second scotch, ”Might be me to blame?” he asked looking to Juliette and offering a grin before he shifted back to the other three at the table. ”She did just have her tryouts not to long ago.” Sam said thinking about it. Sam had also been stealing her away from dates and other things so he suddenly felt he was to be blamed.
Sam nodded his head and corrected Linley, ”Kaz definitely tries to teach people manners. It’s hard when the guy doesn’t have that great of ones to begin with.” he joked, Kaz in Sam’s opinion was a friend and he had no problem joking about Kaz at his expense, it was all in good fun. ”Yeah, they eyepatch does definitely bring attention. Can’t say I planned it but I don’t mind the attention from time to time. Definitely got Juliette’s attention so I can’t say I hate it.” he smirked and without realizing it scratched some of the scar that poked out from behind the eye patch.
Sam sipped his drink slowly making sure he didn’t seem like he was in a hurry to finish his glass in front of Juliette so he rested it at his side as Linley explained the powers of the little girl. ”Interesting, not too many with a power set like that. I can create ice but I need moisture there to do it. Can’t make something from nothing.” Sam said wondering if the kid was in good hands here.
”Well… I’m just glad to see you guys aren’t supporting the actions of a few members that lived here once… Or still live here.” Sam asked trying to fish for a little information. Sam knew Linley would have heard about Aura for sure and a few others and where they dwelled. ”It will take some time but hopefully people can move past it.” he was speaking more for himself than anyone else.
There were several different conversation topics all happening at the same time. Juliette glanced at each member at the table as they spoke, trying to follow the different topic threads as best she could.
>>"She really brings the characters in stories to life...quite literally."
Juliette raised an eyebrow. That would certainly be an interesting power to deal with. It also raised many questions of ethics. Could she create people? Were they sentient, or controlled by her? There were many things that she questioned about the power, and many things that scared her. While the sanctuary was a great place for mutants, she couldn't help but think that perhaps the girl would be able to get better training at the Xavier Institute.
Not wanting to start anything on the topic, she remained silent and took another sip of water.
>>”She did just have her tryouts not to long ago.”
Juliette coughed on her water. Oh good, avoiding the topic of joining the X-men was going really well. She steadied herself and took a deep breath, hoping that no one at the table would question the statement. "Yep, just a mix of everything has been keeping me busy," she added quickly.
>>”Kaz definitely tries to teach people manners. It’s hard when the guy doesn’t have that great of ones to begin with.
Kaz definitely seemed like an interesting character. From the way his dress had been described to the way he sounded as a person, she wasn't sure that they would get along all that well. However, from the way that he was described otherwise, it did sound like he wasn't entirely the worst person ever. Definitely someone that she would keep an eye out for, though.
Sam had taken a tumble glass from a try which was quickly filled with scotch. She pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes at him, quickly refusing the offer of the second glass. She gave him a small head shake but said nothing, not wanting to bring it up then and there. It would be a conversation for later.
Devon had answered her question about the Sanctuary. She nodded and gave him a small smile and nod about it. It was definitely good that the place was getting a bit more exposure. That would help it along its way to getting away from its former bad image.
>>”Yeah, they eyepatch does definitely bring attention. Can’t say I planned it but I don’t mind the attention from time to time. Definitely got Juliette’s attention so I can’t say I hate it.”
"Well it was more that you were bleeding on the floor than the eye patch, but you're welcome to remember selectively," she smirked at him, recalling the first time that she had met him in the E.R. where she had previously worked.
Linely wasn't sure of the specifics when it came to the girl's powers "I'm sure there is some kind of limitation, I know that it seems to be mood related in part..." the girl would perhaps have to receive more training , was Sancutary the best place for her? "I'm sure Devon will take any advice the X-Men have in relation to her, certainly from a police perspective we want her to be in as a safe a place as possible."
Linely noted that Juliette had raised her eyebrow, but stayed curiously silent. Well, that was her prerogative Linely supposed. He was sure that Devon knew what he was doing, but it was clear that these two had somewhat of a distrust.
((OOC, the Dining room thread had an event occur that would be noticed by Linely from this table)) Linely noted that on another table, a young man had gone as white as a sheet, then hidden under the table. He hoped everything was alright. A woman had just walked in, and a quite attractive one at that. A slender woman, with brown hair, wearing it in curls, and wearing a rather low-cut dress. Surely that's not who he was reacting to? Poor lad, Linely hoped everything was alright. Male teens could get pretty nervous of women, but this was a bit of an overreaction.
>> "It will take time but hopefully people will be able to move past it"
Yes, Aura the infamous mutant. Very nasty case that one was, children butchered ruthlessly. Linely wasn't sure of the details, he hadn't really worked on that case, but as he understood it, she remained at large. He could tell that Sam was fishing for information "As far as I know, there are a few people that caused some trouble who were affiliated with something called "Sancutuary"...I thought it was a gang of sorts, didn't realise this was one and the same? A few of the individuals involved in that are still at large, and a few others have been released from prison." Sometimes not by Uncle Sam, and way before they were supposed to have left, but Sam didn't need to know that. "Aside from that, I didn't really work on that case. I would hope that Sanctuary doesn't embrace those individuals anymore if they are one and the same."
Linely noted Moystyn had left the table while everyone was lost in conversation, and seemed to be writing a cheque near the side of the room. He watched as the man left the Dining room to enter the hall. Somehow he suspected he wouldn't see that man again. Moystyn probably wasn't as generous as he claimed to be either.
"You're right by the way Sam, he did look totally like a bat-man villain" Linely spoke , finally laughing at the bizarre individual.
>>”She did just have her tryouts not to long ago.” Sam said.
>> Juliette coughed on her water.
Devon grinned, snickered once, but said nothing.
>> "Yep, just a mix of everything has been keeping me busy," she added quickly.
Devon nodded. So that's what she was up to. Dating and joining the X-Men. He wasn't that surprised. She was a good hearted, hard working, and caring individual. Understandably that would take time and it was likely a new recruit who also happened to volunteer at Sanctuary... But she hadn't told Sam. Was she worried about its reputation? Was she ashamed of it and what they did here? >> "It will take time but hopefully people will be able to move past it" Sam finished.
Blue eyes widened as he looked past Sam and Juliette. He said nothing, but he watched a recent arrival with interest. Clearly a few others noticed as a couple left the Dining Room quickly and another dove under a table. A dangerous presence, but presence none the less.
>> "Aside from that, I didn't really work on that case. I would hope that Sanctuary doesn't embrace those individuals anymore if they are one and the same." Linley continued.
"If you're speaking of the Order, they aren't here anymore. I've been told they fell apart," Devon shook his head. "There are people here with troubled pasts, but it's not what Sanctuary is about." He smiled gently, nodding again. It was a lot to live down. "Of course, Aura just came in but this is an open block party after all."
"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to introduce myself. Hopefully you can give me a moment," he looked to Cold Steel with a slight frown, "The police or X-Men swarming Sanctuary likely would cause an escalation and some unpleasant ramifications." He gave a simple nod, his smiling returned, and then turned to head for the Pink Lady.

Sam nodded his head ignoring the look she gave him. He’d hear about it later, maybe. However it was starting to get to the point where he was going to say something he didn’t want to say if he didn’t have his mouth distracted by the drink. Sam took a little sip making sure to not drink too much while he was with Juliette, Sam hadn’t incurred her wrath yet but he didn’t want to start, which was another reason why he didn’t ask about her volunteering at the sanctuary. ”I’ll remember it that way then.” Sam smirked in response to her.
”I don’t want to offer any advice unless I have an idea of what we are dealing with. I don’t’ know how well equipped the Sanctuary is but the mansion has the Danger Room, might be able to help you get an understanding on how the kids powers work.” Sam said trying to tiptoe around the fact that a kid that powerful shouldn’t have been at the sanctuary. He took a sip of his drink and tried to meet Juliette’s eyes asking if he worded that correctly.
Sam sipped his drink again holding his tongue as Devon tried to explain the order’s situation. They were indeed disbanded for the most part, Aura had confirmed it and so had Shade. Sam’s shadow couldn’t lie to him so he knew that it was true. It didn’t mean that some of the former members still didn’t live in the building though. Speaking of.
When Devon mentioned Aura the air around him got colder he was on defense no telling how many people she’d kill when she found out that there were X-Men and the police were in the same building as her. Sam took another sip of his whiskey and took a breath. He was over-reacting, she had been trying to expose the Utopia as well even if she wasn’t always on the ball she wasn’t that dense. Killing anyone wouldn’t help her gain that goal. Though he couldn’t speak for the other officers. A quick look around the room already revealed a few with mouths half full opened at the sight of Aura.
”Batman villain or not Aura, immediately draws more attention.” Sam said with a sigh, ”We should try to find him though, that guy is way to shady for my liking.” Sam said waiting for the tipping point.
Juliette caught Sam's eyes and gave him a small nod. There was no real easy way to get at what he was trying to say, but he had done a good job of dancing around the actual words while still getting the point across. The Sanctuary was great, but she couldn't help but think that the Mansion would be a better idea for a girl so powerful. Even Devon with his degree probably wouldn't be equipped to handle things if something blew up. Literally or figuratively.
A woman in a pink dress with nicely curled hair walked by the table and sat down not too far off. Each of the men around her had a reaction to her entrance. Linely seemed to not know who she was, but both Sam and Devon did.
Aura - the infamous order member with her pink constructs. Juliette had definitely heard of her, and had even gotten a preview from her impersonator. She seemed to be using her abilities to cut the food on her plate. It was, in a way, a show of power to the rest of the room.
A young boy at the table next to them had ducked under the table cloth, clearly terrified of who had just walked in. She felt bad for him, but thought his reaction was a bit much. Aura didn't seem like she was being hostile, so there wasn't too much to worry about. However, if he had spent any time on the darker parts of the internet, then his reaction was justified.
Devon got up from the table and walked over to Aura. Juliette gave him a farewell and watched closely as he walked over, ready to help if things went south. She didn't know if he had met Aura before or not, or what she was like exactly, but she knew that her and Sam weren't on the best of terms. That was obvious from his reaction.
”We should try to find him though, that guy is way to shady for my liking.”
Juliette pursed her lips and nodded. The guy didn't seem like the best of sorts, but there were other times to run after him. "We can look into it later, yeah? Let's enjoy the party while there aren't any fist fights."
She turned to Linely and smiled at him politely. "So, Linely, how long have you been a detective?"
