The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

James hadn't been inside a police station in the United States before. The only time he had been in the police station was when he was a kid in Sheffield, when his father's car became victim to a hit-and-run. Of course, James had predicted that, but he had not acted upon it. His father deserved it, anyways. The police stations here looked significantly more modern, with the bright light-up letters outside spelling out "New York Police Department" in sans-serif font. It seemed almost welcoming- Until James reminded himself that it was probably filled with Adapted humans and all sorts of Mutant-Deterring devices from all the riots earlier. He took a deep breath to calm himself.
He was early, as usual. It had been two days since the mugging, and his witness statement was due today. His jaw still hurt, if faintly, and for the broken tooth there had to be surgery, which would cost more than he can afford. Isaac had been worried, but James didn't mention anything about it, so Isaac stopped asking. He didn't like the feeling inside the Police Station. There was the creeping sensation that something bad was about to happen. It happened all the time, and usually nothing too terrible happened, so he's learnt to ignore it. The atmosphere inside is significantly less welcoming. Oh, well. As long as he didn't say or do anything rash, nothing bad would happen. At least, that was what he had been trying to convince himself. Only a couple minutes left before his appointment time. He should be fine.
Joseph Linely spoke to Helen at the desk, who was taking a brief relax in between the large piles of reports that constantly and consistently came on to her desk. "Things seem to be going well, how's Jeff? "Well marital bliss is normal for newly weds, going to have take time off soon..."
The bump on her stomach kicked again, causing Helen to trail off. Linely remembered the wedding, such a beautiful ceremony, even if the Minister doing it had gone off on a tangent about how significant wine was in the first chapter of John. Jeff was a good guy, and a talented member of the MRC , but the taking of leave was totally understandable considering the circumstances. He had a house to build!
"So what do I have today then?" "An interview with the witness you saved from that gang of street thugs, and a line up with the two you caught"
Great, this would be relatively simple task then , so long as James didn't have one of his episodes. He was quite a strange man, but it was to be expected given his cognative mutation. Linely looked round, seeing James walk through the door. He was early. Still, better to be early than late.
Linely cheerfully walked up to James and offered his hand "Hello James, how are things? We'll be ready for you in a few minutes, there will be some quick questions and then a lineup with the fellows that attacked you."
"I- hello, yes, it's nice to meet you." James always got somewhat disoriented when people he was not expecting appear and start talking to him immediately after talking to the lady he didn't even notice. He had realised that he needed for more processing time than others. He couldn't decide whether it was good or bad. He wasn't late, but it did feel like that.
James took the handshake hesitantly, noting the PD's firm grip. His skin crawled uncomfortably with the contact, and he let go just a little too soon, trying hard to not let his discomfort show. His head ached just a little, and he realised that his nervousness was making him trying to predict too much at once. That didn't end well.
"I'll have to meet my attackers?" James tensed slightly at that. That he did not like the sound of. "That..." He didn't finish his sentence. He was at the Police Station. Had to keep his behaviour at least slightly normal. "Would there... be METAbots?" There definitely would be. The Mutants at the riot were a rowdy bunch. It simply made him more anxious.
James brought his gaze to the floor, waiting for PD Linely to lead him to the interrogation room. He hoped he wouldn't get too nervous to think properly.
The man was clearly quite nervous, the fear in his eyes when the suggestion he would be meeting his attackers was obvious. As usual , James showed discomfort with the handshake. Linely was fortunately expecting it.
"No , you will be behind a screen and they'll be brought out for you to see, there'll be several experienced MRC officers around, they won't try anything. META Bots are...unnecessary" Linely tried to assure him best he could. James needed to be lucid for the witness statement.
Linely peered at his simple digital watch "Anyway I think that's just about time for us to go in, follow me James." Linely tried to keep things as friendly as possible, he would need a clear witness statement to bring these guys down. Even though his statement as a cop would probably be enough , the law could well be an ass.
James didn't know what to say next, so he simply kept his head down and followed. There was still small hints of blood on the top of his scuffed trainers, but at least the dark colour of the shoes made it less noticeable. He couldn't wash it off, no matter how hard he tried. A reminder of that night, he supposed. And a reminder to not make as many rash decisions anymore.
There didn't seem to be any negative outcomes that can be associated with this event, after some quick analysing. He needed his head clear for the witness statement. They made their way down a hallway and James winced thinking of how close he'd be to his attackers, but still kept his gaze steady and unblinking. PD Linely opened one of the nondescript white doors and James stepped inside. A desk, a chair, a cabinet, and a screen with sturdy-looking metal bars, more to keep out those on the other side than him. There weren't any officers there yet.
"Should I... sit down? Will I have to see them now?" James asked hesitantly
"Yes, sit down." Linely took a small black rectangle from his pocket. He pressed a few buttons to make sure the recording device was working, great, he wouldn't have to replace the darned thing. Last thing they needed was something to go wrong for that, otherwise Mr Maxfield would have to make the statement again.
"Speak into the microphone and describe the incident that occured in your own words." They were going to bring in the two thugs with the rest of the line up soon. Linely had already pointed these guys out in a previous line-up , he only hoped James would pick out the right guys.
