The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Security I can do. I'd be glad to do it, or at least have my guys do it. That is their job after all.” He gave Sam a brief, flicker of a smile. ”You don't have to worry about them getting out of hand, they have to be able to handle things without endangering the residents of the Estates.” Leaning back in his chair, ”Why did this become such a big deal? Is there more to Alex's situation than self defense? From the little I know self defense cases happen all the time, and none of them warrant this sort of..publicity. My gut is telling me it's because he is a mutant, and nothing else. Like this whole thing is a sham, an excuse to go after a mutant kid, to make some sort of twisted point.” Kaz drummed his fingers on the desk for a moment, ”I can have a guy inside with you Sam, just in case something happens. That would also give me eyes and ears inside so we can provide assistance if needed.”
Kaz didn't like what Sam was saying about the Order. During the short time he was with them, they always did do things how they wanted, caring nothing for how others saw them. It had had a point, to put mutants on top. They might accomplish that by killing some humans, but they could do it by influencing and manipulating society, sowing chaos with Haywire. If the Order had degenerated into a group of individuals who cared only for their own interests, that meant they had no higher goal anymore.
Kaz shook his head, not liking where his thoughts were going. ”Wait, you know Abyss?” Kaz latched onto that to turn his mind to a different path of thinking.

”I have eyes everywhere.” Sam hinted at his powers and those he had planned on being in the court room. He doubted anyone would be stupid enough to attach inside the court room during the trial but then again they did just talk about some of the Order members and how they don’t generally think. ”Maybe it won’t be a bad idea but if we want this to go in the kids favor I want to make sure nothing happens inside the court room. He killed the kid but it was self-defense, by law he should be off the hook.” Sam agreed with Kaz at the joke that was the trial, ”Twisted point is no one is above the law. I understand that but there are other people they can make a point with.” Sam said sipping and setting his glass down.
”As far as power sets go Alex’s power isn’t that dangerous. Sure it could kill someone but.” Sam shrugged, ”We know the real people they want to arrest won’t go quietly, a scared kid means no deaths and the sense that they can still make a point.” Sam sighed, ”It’s $$$$ed up.”
”Pluto lives here, and Abyss was my kids godfather in the shared dream everyone had in the future…” thinking about his son again caused him to go quite as it brought up many painful memories of his not-real son Sammy, his not-real daughter Ayrin and his not-real wife Alexandra. His hand instinctively went for the glass and he slammed contents before grabbing the bottle and trying to change the subject. ”Abyss you can reason with and well, Pluto is Pluto. So when he said he was looking for a place I gave him a room here. He is great with the kids.
It was a colossal effort not to laugh when Sam spoke those words. They were completely untrue. There were plenty of people who were above the law. People with Political Immunity were such people. Another group of people were the rich. With enough money it was possible for someone to get off completely or have the consequences so diminished as to be almost nothing, just a slap on the wrist in many cases. Kaz was one such person. At this point, if anyone had come after him for things he had done in the past, he had the money to bury it until it went away, or to pay people off, or to force the issue to go away using any number of methods.
Still, Sam's words made sense and he was spot on for why they'd go after a kid like Alex instead of someone like Kaz. He had to remind him himself that they had apparently gone after Aura and Isabel, without much success, or no lasting success at least. Kaz didn't give voice to his thoughts, instead nodding with an understanding expression as Sam spoke. Only when the man was finished did he speak, ”Hopefully when this is over a different point will be made than the one they want to make. Just keep me in the loop Sam, when the trial is, any significant changes or concerns,” Kaz waved a hand in a 'that sort of thing' gesture. ”I'll do what I can to help out.”
Kaz had no idea Abyss, or any of his brothers, were held in such regard by the Mansionites. He was especially surprised to hear that Pluto lived at the Mansion. Apparently the Abyss-bros didn't all follow the Order way of life. That being the case, Kaz wondered what the rest of them were doing and gave him hope that he'd encounter his old friend again at some point.
It took a few moments more to realize what Sam had said, ”A future dream? Again?” He vaguely remembered what happened years ago. Try as he might though, he couldn't remember more than a few disjointed memories of that experience. As the years went on, he could recall less and less of it. There were times he wondered if it had ever happened at all or if he had imagined, dreamed, it all. The only reason he hadn't dismissed it entirely as a figment of his imagination was what happened when he awoke from it and the brawl at KP.
Sam seemed to have strong reaction as he spoke even that little bit about the future dream. Kaz felt the urge to ask him about it but refrained from doing so. He knew something about dealing with painful memories. He'd leave the man alone and not pry. Instead of saying anything Kaz gave Sam's glass and the bottle a significant look before giving Sam an understanding glance.
”I don't doubt it. They did seem to get along with the children at Sanctuary quite well. I was wondering the 'Byss-bros were doing since I returned, glad to hear at least one of them is alright and still around.” Looking at his hands, Kaz's voice became a little quieter, ”So many people I had known are gone now. Makes me feel a bit out of place.” Looking up again, ”Ya know what I mean?”
Shaking his head a little, not in negation of anything, just to clear it. ”Back to something you said earlier, I can't guarantee anything because of my own work, but I could stop by when I have the chance or try to work it into my schedule to be at least a semi-regular thing, and help out around here as a part-time Staffer.”

Sam took a sip of his drink again and nodded his head, ”Will do. I’ll keep you in the loop.” while Kaz and Sam didn’t always see eye to eye when it came to protecting kids or those who couldn’t protect themselves they seemed to share a similar mindset. Alex would be protected but Sam was confident even if something tied his hands Kaz would be more than willing to step in.
”Different one same cast.” Sam said touching his head, ”I hate telepaths for a reason they love messing with me.” Sam added to the point by slamming his now empty glass down on the table and started to fill it again.
Sam smirked when Kaz asked if he knew what he meant, ”All to well. The more the years go on the more of an outsider I feel. Sometimes I want to just pack it all and walk away… but…” he felt a sense of purpose at the mansion. Even if he didn’t feel at home here anymore he knew he was needed.
”Sure you could teach an intro to business or something.” Sam said raising his glass and smirking. ”Welcome back Kaz, let me know when you feel like instilling knowledge.”
