The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(Note that this first post is intended to cover the span of at least a week, posts there after will be in normal time, as the scene will ahve been set)
Richard had moved to New York not long ago and was in the process of negotiating an employment contract. He had also recently confirmed his suspicions that he was a mutant, a fact that he was still coming to grips with and processing through. He read online the the Sanctuary offered lodgings to mutants and welcomed all so he headed there. He was not quite in a mood to talk to anyone at the momeny and sought something to calm his mind. So, after getting a room and a bite to eat at the canteen, which was thankfully empty, Richard headed to the place that made him feel most comfortable, the machine shop. Or... what they called a machine shop.
"Hello? Hello?" Richard called out to the dark and dusty room as he fumbled for the light switch. Recieving no reply and finally finding said device, Richard turned on the lights and was greeted by a dusty room that looked like it had not entertained anyone for quite some time. There was dust and puddles of unidentified substances on the floor, half of the lights did not work, the machines were covered with dust and did not look well maintained, all in all a considerable state of dilapidation. (OCC: Order leadership, I hope tis ok to describe the machine shop in said state of dilapidation, if not, PM me and I will change it)
Richard was astounded, who would leave machines in this manner. He had noted that there did not seem to be many people about and had noted wear and tear about the building but this, this was unacceptable. Here was something he could do to take his mind off things, here, Richard could restore a world that made sense. designing and manufacturing always made sense. No matter how good or how bad a day you were having, if you placed this metal in that machine, adjusted the setting so and controlled it in this manner, you would always get the same result. It was orderly and logical, unlike life. So Richard set to work.
Observing that the computer in said machine shop was old Richard moved his own laptop over and got to work. He also powered up "Cheeky" a robot that he had built for fun during his research. Cheeky, looked like a supersized roomba and performed a similar function. Cheeky was designed by Richard to clean machine shop floors, to remove everything from grease, lubricant, spilt liquids, shavings and dust from floors. Cheeky had an aluminium exterior and was controlled by a credit card sized computer called an odroid. Cheeky was capable of accepting simple voice commands, could perform S.L.A.M and observed the world from an Xbox connect bolted to its top. "Cheeky, Charge! Map! Clean!" Cheeky beeped in response and went off to dock at its charging station before heading out to bap and clean the floor.
Having put cheeky in charge of the floor, Richard got to work categorizing what was salvageable in the machine shop. His progress was slow as each time he used his power, he could only "scan" a small part of each machine, and the energy it took was considerable.
A week went by and there was some visible progress. There was a pathway from the door to a workbench and drafting table where one could actually see the concrete floor. On the drafting table and pinned above it were 11 x 17 inch drawings of what looked like a cross between an artichoke and a bullet (OCC, point of interest, please feel free to ask about this as well as Cheeky) as well as engineering schematics for a robot that looked very similar to Cheeky, who now boasted a metal plate with the name "Cheeky" engraved on it , on it's side. There were a few machines that were in the process of being cleaned and examined. Richard was in the process of opening the coverings to see if he could fix them.
It was then that Cheeky bumped into a foot by the door way. It backed up and tried again, 'Bump'. It proceeded to beep angrily and start to flash its lights. Richard looked up. "Hello?"
With her return to Sanctuary Syn had decided to make her rounds throughout the building to see how things stood condition wise. Some of the rooms where left open and looked ran sacked. The hallway had a couple lights out and several that flickered. The recreation room had seen better days as well. Chairs had tears in them, pool cues were left on the pool tables and on the floor, the tv still looked good and in working condition miraculously. The dining facility had a couple people who had decided to remain part time in order to keep the handful of residents fed, but all they did was make some food and then leave for the day.
All in all the building needed cleaning up and some repairs, but for now it was going to have to stay the way it was until Syn could gather resources and people to bring back Sanctuary’s glory.
Walking in to the vehicle bay she noted there were still a couple vehicles covered in dust but looked to be in good condition. Her attention was drawn to the machine shop when she started hearing sounds coming from there. As she stepped into the work room something ran into her boot. Some sort of small robot then a voice spoke up. “Greetings. I’m surprised to find anyone back here working. What’s your name sir?”

“Greetings. I’m surprised to find anyone back here working. What’s your name sir?”
Richard looked up to see a lady with captivating green eyes. He glanced over at Cheeky from who's body had risen two rectangles such that it looked like a small mobile SAM vehicle. He immediately yelled "Cheeky! Stop! Reverse! Avoid! Resume!". Upon hearing this Cheeky beeped apologetically, retracted the rectangles back into its body and resumed cleaning the floor. Turning to the lady he apologized. "Sorry for that, my name is Richard, an engineer. I hope I am not doing anything that is not allowed. It is just that fixing things helps me thing. Also Sorry about Cheeky, the robot, I had to stop him from tazing you. His current programming includes defensive and deterrant traits. It would have been a rather unpleasant experience."
He paused, unsure if he should be asking the question of someone with such an air of authority. "I'm sorry, but You are...?"
With her attention glancing back and forth between the man and the little bot Syn noticed the appearance of the small triangular appendages. Thankfully the man, who introduced himself as Richard, called out instructions to send the mechanical thing away and then explained what might’ve happened. “Yes, I do believe that would have been rather upsetting. Thank you for not letting it happen Richard.”
The shop looked like it had been tended to rather well. Assuming the man and his robot had been the ones to arrange everything Syn had a pleasant look on her face. This seemed to be the ideal place for Richard. He obviously had skills with technical and mechanical things. Slightly nodding in approval of his accomplishments the woman moved to the edge of one of the work tables. “I can see this is a good place for you. I’m glad you discovered it. I have a feeling your talents will come in rather handy Richard. You may call me Syn and I am one of the people in charge of Sanctuary as well as it being my home.” She smiled to him.

>“Yes, I do believe that would have been rather upsetting. Thank you for not letting it happen Richard.”
"Umm" said Richard still wondering if the lady whom he was addressing was a) someone important, and b) either going to approve of what he was doing or give him a royal thrashing. "You are welcome." The lady seemed to examine the state of the shop. To be fair there was still a lot of work to be done to get it operational again. From her confidence Richard assumed that she was of some authority here. She seemed to approve of what He and Cheeky had done so far? she seemed to look not mad and perhaps, dare he imagine it, a little happy. If that was the case score to him.
>“I can see this is a good place for you. I’m glad you discovered it. I have a feeling your talents will come in rather handy Richard. You may call me Syn and I am one of the people in charge of Sanctuary as well as it being my home.”
Richard was easily embarrassed by compliments. He looked down at his feet. "Ummm, thank you... Syn. I like it here. I like restoring things, it also gives me a chance to train my powers. So I am not like, in any trouble for just sort of taking over this space am I?"
>“How long have you been here?”
"I arrived in New York probably a week ago. Interviewing for jobs and the like still waiting to hear back from companies and herd that there was free board here for mutants, so I came. Fixing things is just a way to help me thing and process and keeps me from worrying too much in the meantime."
Watching the man’s reaction when Syn complimented him gave an instant tell. She found a hook for him.
“You’re quite welcome. You mentioned restoring things gives you time to work on your power. May I enquire as to what that might be? Maybe a little demonstration perhaps?” As she spoke the dark queen placed the tip of her right index finger to her mouth so she could gently nibble it while tilting her head and giving a pleading look from her emerald eyes.
Syn always enjoyed discovering what other talents mutants possessed. It was like going to a candy store and finding new interesting candies each time as mutant abilities varied so much from one to another. Then she would ponder possible uses for each talent like pieces of a puzzle. It was definitely a habit that she’d never get tired of.
“Ah, so you’re new here. Well then, welcome to New York City. What jobs have you applied for and what would be your dream job if you could have it?”

Unaware that he was being evaluated in a slightly cool and calculating way and rather happy to receive praise for his work. Richard very much fell for the pleading look. He was, some would say naive and innocent, happy to openly talk to anyone about his powers. "Well my powers are two fold, the first part allows me to touch something and... well sort of see how it is built, why it was built and what it was meant for, also increasingly I am getting to see the durability of something, say where or when or how it might break." He paused for a breath searching Syn's face for a hint of boredom. He had bored people before.
"The second part is the more energy consuming, is where, with certain materials, I can, well shape them, mold them. For instance this drill press here is working but some the internal wiring is frayed and brittle and work hardened and is close to breaking. At this point I could either choose to nudge those copper particles apart and break the cable entirely or I could "push" them in the other direction to ensure that the drill keeps on running."
What would she think of that? >“Ah, so you’re new here. Well then, welcome to New York City. What jobs have you applied for and what would be your dream job if you could have it?”
Richard bowed slightly. "Why thank you madam. I must confess I came here on a whim and so applied for the whole gambit of jobs. I would love a job that allows me to create and build solutions to problems. To create, to dream and build and be multi-disciplinary and not be restricted to optimizing mass produced products for the masses."
After the words left his mouth he belatedly realized how, loft and pie-in-the-sky-ish they sounded. But one could dream, right? Perhaps he should come back to reality.
