The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"It's probably not healthy."
Alex nodded in agreement and sunk further into his blanket cocoon. The rat on his shoulder slipped under the sheets, cuddling into the warmth. It was one of those things that was new to him, being comfortably warm in the midst of winter. He never imagined being able to survive winter like this. Safe in an actual house, watching tv like a normal people.
"I hope the winter here is short."he murmured more to himself than the woman sitting with him. No matter how much he was enjoying the mansion, he still wanted to go out. It was hard to get rid of the instinct to leave, find new places, see new things. It may have been hard on him but he enjoyed it too. If he had a stable home, then he might not have seen as much of the U.S. as he had.

"i would not count on it" she said with a shrug. New york winters were long and sometimes lasted well into spring. Still one could hope. Being from the west coast had shown her a big difference between winters.
"Well, I need to go find one of the teachers to ask them somthing" she said making an excuse to leave. It was not so much that she did not like the kid as she liked him enough but she was unsure what to do.
She really did need to reestablish a schedule to try and control her power. Controlled or gone she would be happy when she could go for a swim and not get everyone in a public pool hammered.

"Well, I need to go find one of the teachers to ask them something."
He looked over at her and nodded once more. "Alright, good luck with that. It was nice chatting with you." He yawned looking about ready to fall asleep anyway. So she could probably sneak away pretty easily. Not that he minded at all. This little meeting was a rather chance and random one. And he knew that if she stuck around through the storm, he'd probably see her again.
If she really needed something, it was probably something consisting of multiple meetings with the teachers and staff. He's been watching, not exactly counting, but he was well aware of when new faces turn up and return. So he was sure she'd show up again. What was the mansion, if not a revolving door of mutants in need.
