Ah... Halloween the time of tricks, treats, and hi-jinx. Especially for five mutants who thought that New York needed to get more into the haunted spirit. They got together and decided to bring the cities nightmares to life, literally.

They managed to work together and cover the entire city with their combined power. While the effects have the range over the entire city its not quite strong enough to hit everyone. about one out of five people are affected by the group. However even the people not effected can still witness and be involved.

Now, what exactly are living nightmares? Well, "Mares" as their creators named them are physical phantoms that take the form of something frightening to someone. Specifically what the person is currently thinking of.

The Mares are solid, real and have one purpose. To get the person who thought of them and brought them into existence. Anyone in its way however will be dealt with. Mares do need to be "killed" to stop them. Anything that could kill a normal person can kill a Mare.

But what do they look like? What can they do? Mares are limited. In size they cant get bigger than a fifteen passenger van. They can only take the form of creatures or monsters and they cant use supernatural powers. They DO however have all the physical abilities of what they were created to be. Example: a vampire cant turn into a cloud of bats, but it has vampire super strength.

One last note a group of people could make multiple copies of the same Mare by accident. After all if one person caused a mare and you saw it and got scared thinking about that mare, then another Mare would form targeting you... What if there were ten or twelve people in your group?

Did you just watch a scary movie and wonder what the monster would be like in the dark alley? What if there was a giant man eating spider in times square? I bet that old building is haunted...

The threat is open to anyone and everyone. Post your first encounter with a mare, whether its your own or you seeing someone else's.

So we can have multiple events going on in the thread at the same time right?

I definitely think I'l be getting in on this, I think it'd be interesting to have a mare version of Sylar doing alot more than just scaring people >:3

Multiple threads are allowed. Use the kick off for your first encounter then break off into your own thread otherwise it will be very over cluttered since this is happening city wide not in a specific location.
