The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam noticed how she responded with a ‘You people’ she didn’t think of her self as part of the majority which was kinda sad. Sara was mor human than pretty much anyone he had ever met. She responded with her basic wants and needs, she was by any definition of the word human, it was sad that people managed to only focus on her outward appearance.
Once Sara finished Sam tilted his head, ”Still I’d like to be sure, you said this happened once before? Who did it?” Sam asked as if it was the simplest question and answer in the world he was sure there was a story behind it but he had a feeling Sara was going to be brief. If she had gone through this before maybe she was targeted.
”Even if it wasn’t the same thing that happened mutants don’t just swap powers. Obviously someone mutant or human is involved. I’d like to figure this out before you go ice age on a city block and kill everyone in it.” Sam said letting go of the stick that Roxy was pulling.
Roxy had tugged harder than either of Sara's furry friends had realized when Sam let go of the stick and her butt landed on the ground with a thump, but she had her stick, so her tail kept thumping the dirt. Obviously not caring one bit after the initial surprise. Between Sara, herself, and other inhabitants at the mansion, she'd been used to such things happening.
"I don't know who did it before." Sara replied. Her arms crossed and her hips tilted. Sam was starting to act protective again, and she wasn't sure what she thought of it yet. Especially when he mentioned her going ice age on a city block. "Oh come on. That's not going to happen." Sam was, and maybe he might have been when he was younger but really? Sara? She could barely make snow slippers around her feet.
"The mutant who switched bodies with me before, was Meld. She didn't know anything about who'd done it back then either. Just that we weren't the only ones who'd been effected. Though I can't recall names." In other words, looking to the past wasn't going to tell them that much. "No. What caused this switch must have been something that we were both exposed to in the last few days, witch can't be much. You're still dead."

Shaking his head, ”You have no idea what kind of power I was packing before I got all furry. If you’re not careful the same thing could happen. Just let me know if you suddenly start feeling a little too warm.” Sam said being vague before he placed his paws on his extra stubble.
Enjoying the long claws running through his hair Sam asked, ”Unless you raided my fridge I didn’t have anything. Except the muffins, everything else was canned goods.” Sam said, ”How did you and Meld get your powers back the first time?”
Sara wasn't impressed by what Sam had to say about before he got furry and her arms staid crossed... But she also knew that he was right. "Warm. Got it." Sara said doing her best not to look like she was pouting. It wasn't like she'd been nothing when she was her old self.
Sara made a face at the mention of canned goods. She'd eaten canned goods in the past but she didn't care much for them.preservatives tasted funny. "I thought the muffins would be a treat compared to that stuff." Sara said with a shrug. "I did take two for myself. They were from a bakery. Not the mall." She admitted.
"Before, it just ran it's course. After a time, we switched back to normal."

”Well Sara unless you had a can of baked beans recently I’m pretty sure there might have been a little extra in the brans.” Sam said gesturing towards his body then hers. ”Again I’d like to swap back before something goes wrong. Last thing I want is for you to turn anyone into a popsicle.” Sam said before waving her back towards the exit of the warehouse.
”You remember what part of the city you got the muffins from?” Sam asked crouching down and holding his arms backwards implying he’d carry her. ”You think Roxy will be fine here for a while?” Sam asked shifting a glance towards the dog wondering if he should call Mirror to come pick her up.
Well that seemed to settle it. Sara and Sam now had a destination. "Of course. I bought them from Mad Miller Muffins. It's a mutant friendly muffin shop. The main baker calls himself the Muffin Man." Sara Sighed. "I hope you're wrong. I like that shop." But frankly, Everything in Sara's gut told Sara that now it was the only lead that they had.
Sam knelt implying that he'd carry her and Sara sighed, glancing at Roxy first. She'd first brought the dog with her to be her extra eyes and ears, but now it seemed that she wasn't needed. "I did bring the van... But you're faster. I'll call Johnny and see if he can pick her up for me. I'd rather that she wasn't left alone where a furry monster was just sighted."
She pulled out her cell phone and thumbed in Johnny's number as her other hand pushed down on Sam's shoulder. Using his bent knee as a step she climbed on Sam easily enough. "Alright. Well. Um... Giddy up?"

Once she was on his back Sam started running towards the exit as quickly as he could. Even with Sara on his back he was moving faster than he had ever moved before which was impressive because under the affects of his ice powers pushed to their limit he could move pretty quickly or rather it made it seem like he cold move quickly.
Running down the street he decided not to take the rooftops having no doubt he could jump and leap from top to top he didn’t want Sara falling off. It wasn’t like she could heal anymore. A thought crossed his mind as he felt his eye patch rustle against all his facial fur. With him having her powers did that mean his eye would heal? Pushing the thought from his mind he commented on Sara’s choice in bakeries. ”Mad Miller and the Muffin Man?” Sam asked almost starting to chuckle, ”Doesn’t sound at all sinister to you? I mean Mad is in the name of the shop right?”
A car screeched as he jumped up and ran on top of the car narrowly avoiding getting hit. Sam decided to focus on the road instead of talking to Sara. He couldn’t feel body heat or other heat signatures anymore meaning he could only see out of his one eye. That also meant that his other senses were in overdrive due to Sara’s mutation. ”So many bad smells.” Sam commented as he rounded the corner to the shop. ”This it?”

The phone call to Johnny was short and to the point. Sara hadn’t explained her situation. Just that Roxy needed a pick up and Johnny didn’t question her. Maybe after knowing her this long, he no longer wanted to know. Nonetheless, he was a good friend.
As soon as Sara was done with her phone call she slipped the phone into a pocket and used both hands to hold onto Sam. One hand gripping the wrist of the other where a thick scar wrapped around it from when she’d been forced to wear a wrist band during the registration camps. To date, Sara’s healing factor wasn’t perfect. It healed. It wasn’t regenerative.
“What can I say. The muffins are still good.” Sara shrugged even though Sam couldn’t see her he could probably feel the motion. She then started quoting Shakespeare. “You know. A Rose by any other name, and all that Jazz…. Ok. Most roses and muffins wouldn’t make you grow tails or become a portable freezer but WATCH OUT!” Sara probably didn’t have to yell that when Sam and herself was nearly hit by a car on his blind side and She pulled her arms tighter from around his shoulders to around his neck. She didn’t have nearly the strength that she did usually, but that didn’t mean that she couldn’t put a death grip for a second or two on his neck. There was strong and then there was adrenalin pumped panic. The air temperature dropped and Sara left a thick frost across the hood of the car as Sam cleared it.
They became quiet for a minute and Sara readjusted her grip so she didn’t choke Sam. Her face buried in the back of Sam’s shoulder, clearly shaken. Not because she could have gotten hurt, but because she realized exactly how little control she had over Sam’s mutation.
”So many bad smells.”
The comment pulled Sara back to the task at hand. “Remember this next time you decide to wear smelly Gym socks to spare in.”
”This it?”
Sara pushed her head away from Sam’s shoulder so that she could see the building. It was built of red brick. The front of the shop was decorated with and awning and little purple and grey shingles. Black and striped curtains decorated the windows around the blinds. The muffin shop, it’s self, looked like it might have been pulled directly from a Tim Burtain film and yet it looked right at home with the businesses that were around it that included A Pizza Parlor, A laundry mat and a book store. “Yup, That’s it.” Sara said sliding down from Sam’s back but still holding him till her feet found their balance.

It looked normal enough in a normal looking part of town but when something this crazy was happening the name on the shop seemed to be a big red neon sign saying, ‘he did it. Yes he is actually mad!’ Sam waited to Sara had her balance and kept a hand close by if she needed to grab some support as they crossed the street making sure not to become road kill on the pavement. ”I wear those socks so you do get distracted by the smell. Sometimes wear them for a week in advance if I know we are sparring soon." Sam smirked forcing the new whiskers on his cheeks to elevate.
Sam made a mental note not to smile to much he forgot he had the teeth he did now. Might seem far more menacing to smile than not to. Instead he stuck out his tongue slightly to seem less intimidating he was trying to think of himself as a children’s plush toy. It probably couldn’t work but he figure Sara would tell him.
Sam was the first to open the door and walked in first to make sure nothing was ready to surprise him. Call him paranoid but too many weird things had been happening recently. Once he opened the door he stood aside for Sara to walk in his senses going all over the place. Smells, tastes and noises.

"Ok. Fine. I'll remember." Sara said in a matter of fact way that only hinted at the fact that she would find a way of getting even with Sam. She was enjoying the fact that she could grin without raising alarm.
Sam opened the door and walked inside before Sara, then held the door for her. Why was his tongue sticking out? She tilted her head at him as she passed him. Sticking her tongue out back. With a quick look around, Sara approached the counter.
The small tables were set so close together that if you were to walk anywhere but the main entry way to the counter, you'd have to turn yourself sideways. The black, purple, and grey color theme was on the inside of the shop as well with the signs behind the register advertising their specials, to the cheep napkins arranged at every table. Behind the counter stood a young man with red curly hair and freckles. His name tag read Nate. "Hey how can I help you today?" Nate said brightly. Not put off in one way by the fact that a large black cat mutant just wondered in. "I want you to know that the strawberry banana muffins are on special today." He said motioning to a sign at his left.
"Actually we'd like to speak with the baker." Sara asked.
Nate lost the smile from his face for a second or two. It was almost like he was a machine and someone hit the pause button. Gravity still took it's effects on him though and he started to lean. Catching his balance before he actually fell. The smile spread back on his face. "He'll be right out."
"OK That was new." Sara said to Sam just loud enough that he could here her.

His tongue slipped back behind his teeth once the baker was being summoned. Every smell caused him to shift his head from one direction to another until he heard a song in the distance of the back room. He had heard it before and before he stated to realize it he started to hum along with the melody he still couldn’t place it but his stomach dropped. He couldn’t figure out why. Maybe the bran muffins were messing with his stomach as well.
Sam walked over towards the counter and looked from Nate to the sign, ”I’m sure they taste as good as they look.” he shifted his weight down and looked through the glass on the counter to see all the muffins and pastries. It was then he realized that Nate was indeed odd. Sam stood back up and walked over to Sara and gestured towards the door, ”Maybe it’s best you leave till I can figure out what is going on. You still don’t have a grasp on my powers yet.” he finished in a whisper. Sam’s new tail flicked behind him signaling the door to the back of the bakery opening.
Sara couldn't hear any music. However, she could hear Sam humming. What for? Well she had no clue. She didn't even know the song.
Sara's weight shifted when Sam moved. He wanted her to leave, but she hesitated. They were both here because of her and her eyes, still amber in color, shot up to his. Leaving felt wrong, but because of her own situation with Sam's abilities, staying was obviously not the best of ideas either. "You could have taught me." She said obstinately. Then Sighed. For her, that probably wouldn't of been enough for a potentially bad situation.
She'd done this. She didn't know that buying Sam and herself some baked goods would put them in this situation but it had and it was because of her. Here Sam was willing to clean up her mess. "Stay in touch." She whispered tapping her phone in her pocket with her index finger.
Sara then left. She wouldn't go far. Maybe just window shop across the street where she could still see Sam through the windows of the muffin house.

”We didn’t have time.” Sam said simply, ”Besides there is too much to teach you.” his mutation was more than just making ice or making it cold, the air around her was now a weapon if there was moisture in the air she could use it. It would take weeks to get her to learn everything. He flexed his muscles not like her powers they seemed pretty straight forward at least that’s what he thought. The song in the distance made him uneasy, it told him that it wasn’t safe there and he couldn’t tell why. ”Of course.” Sam said to Sara.
The door to the back of the bakery opened and the song in the distance was a little louder. The word dancer was heard but didn’t raise any red flags for now it was the baker that was the focus of his attention. He looked like a baker. Nothing more nothing less, nothing that described him as ‘mad’, he had scares and his body figure made him look more angry than mad. ”I think you sold my friend some bad muffins.” Sam said as he gestured to his body.
”Anyway this could be reversed?” Sam asked cautiously. The music could still be heard but then it was drowned out by the Muffin Man’s voice. ”Oh you must have gotten the wrong batch! Right, easy fix. Why don’t you come with me into the back and we can get this sorted. I don’t like advertising I can do this. Bad for business.” the muffin man said, as he looked slightly nervous and quickly exited into the back room.
Shady was the best word to describe it. Nate nodded strangely encouraging Sam to enter the back room. Sam looked to Sara and gave her a big furred shrug and slowly entered the back room. That’s when the music was turned up and the feeling in the pit of his stomach screamed Danger. The speakers in the back blared Tina Turner’s ‘Private Dancer’ as a fog machine and a disco ball appeared and started going off. There he was Sam’s self-proclaimed arch enemy in all his self-proclaimed glory, his bright rainbow colored jacket his blue jeans and his pink leggings.
Today he had on a purple sweatband, “I’m you’re Private Dancer! Dancer for money do what you want me to do!” Sam felt the sudden urge to start dancing but he restrained for a moment. Pulling out his communicator he was about to call Sara when it fell out of his hand and he felt the invisible puppet strings pull him into a small twirl then forced him on one leg while he threw his hands up. “Why hello there Mr. Kitty!” Private Dancer said flamboyantly and did a few twirls himself followed by a leap and a few finger snaps as he made his way over to Sam. “What do we have here!?!”
Sara watched from the outside of the shop as the muffin man came out from the back. Sam and himself had exchanged some words that she couldn't make out. Ok. This not hearing everything was getting on her nerves. The two of them had disappeared into the back and she was left standing there staring through the window from the outside.
OK. Right. What was she supposed to do while she waited? What did normal people do? The one thing that her nose had picked up on, was the smell of coffee from the cafe next store. The sign on the door said no shoes no shirt no service and well. she had one of those so she went in. No one in charge looked at her feet, so it didn't take long before she found herself with a $6.50 hot steaming cup of whipped cream, caramel, chocolate and awesome. ok. Now to wait for Sam. Absentmindedly, Sara removed her communicator and her cell phone from her pocket to play with the volume.

‘How did he get out of prison?’ Sam thought to himself as he was pirouetting in a circle as Private Dancer offered up his hand to Sam. Even though Sam tried to fight the strings his body did what Private Dancer wanted. They started to tango. Only after Sam managed to step on the communicator turning it on.
“Now tell me Mister Kitty!” Private Dancer said loudly reveling some of the madness Sam knew the guy to have. “Speak!” he yelled as Sam was dipped then spun. It didn’t matter he was taller than Private Dancer the puppet strings had taken ahold of Sam’s body. If only he had his ice powers he could have countered him with ease sadly his power set was back with Sara. ”It seems some muffins I had went bad.” Sam said letting out a grunt as he was lifted off the ground and raised over Private Dancer’s head. “Oh dear me.” Private Dancer said setting Sam down then leaping a few feet away then snapping his fingers, “Muffin Man! How did Mister kitty get those muffins?”
The muffin man ran over and rubbed his hands together nervously, ”No idea.” he looked back to Sam and smirked then back to Private Dancer, “You see. We don’t know! Oh well! Guess I’m gonna have to kill you though seeing as you are here. Where you shouldn’t be!” Private Dancer pulled out a knife and leapt towards Sam and Sam pulled back as the knife missed his throat. “OOOOOOOHHHHH! Good! You my furry feline friend are going to be fun to dance with! Almost as fun as my nemesis sadly he was killed by some low rate thugs. The nerve of him. Just means I’m gonna have to create a little chaos and crack a few eggs!” Private Dancer snapped and looked to the Muffin Man “Right Muffin Man!?!”
