The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: right-o, commodore Pink-Puff!)
She barely had time to finish her lunch before yet another mutant was sent in. With a gih, she was about to inquire as to when her 'assitant mutant' was going to get her ass over here, when she saw that the girl already was here. She was taking on the role of 'patient', instead of nurse. Joy. "Ok, Beverly, let me take it from here." The nurse, who seemed to think that mutation was contagious because she always wore gloves whenever she was treating one, was more than happy to go back to her lunch. "Well well, how did you get here?" Gwen got to finishing dressing the wound, and was rather more careful about it than Beverly.
(OOC: No prob. Hope this 'busy' is a good 'busy'. Let us know if we go too far, or need to change something to keep her true to character.)
"Well well, how did you get here?"
<"Now that's a stupid question."> Neena prudently kept the comment to herself. She backed away to allow Gwen to do her job, but hovered nearby to assure herself Natalie would be okay. The girl had some kind of healing abilities, Neena knew, but not how extensive. So she drug out her laundry gathering duties as long as possible.
"Need another roll of guaze." Being nearby already, Neena obliged. Gwendolyn looked up at her, a bit surprised. "You here again?" Neena grinned.
"Well, at least I'm making work for you." The rolly nurse gave her a rather bland look, as if to ask, 'And I should be grateful why?'. Neena shrugged, still smiling. "Sorry. Laundry duty. Guess I'll be in and out regularly."
"I'm ecstatic." was the bland answer as Gwendolyn returned to her patient.
"Gwendolyn I think you better take a look at this one." Gwen huffed as yet another guard appeared hauling in another mutant.
"What is this? Grand Central Station?!" This one was the white-furred cat-girl that Miss Fragile-lying-on-the-bed had partially healed. Partially being the key word. She saw the spreading blood on the girl's dress. Wonderful.
All right, enough lazing about. Having patched up Natalie for the moment, Gwen began ordering those loitering about, starting with NIka. "You, sit here. You," at nurse, "get more bandages. You," at a second nurse, "get him," pointing to Jason, "some painkillers. And not just tylenol either," she warned. Then she turned on the guards.
"And all of you, out! If you're not helping, or paying me admission, then out!. This isn't Ringling Brothers, despite the circus!" She grumbled as she turned to check Nika, motioning for the girl to lift her dress so she could assess the wound. "Idiots in uniforms. May as well have sent postal workers...."
Neena listened to the berating, trying her best not to laugh, and went back to her work, as slowly as possible....
Nika vaguely remembered the lady from the registration building. She knew the lady was some kind of nurse or something as she tended to those who were hurt. Apparently she was in charge of the infirmary at the camp as well. That thought was proved to be true as Gwendolyn started barking orders and then motioned for Nika to let the woman see the wound.
Nika carefully lifted up her dress to allow the lady a view of what was causing the bleeding. The motion of lifting her dress up made Nika wince in pain again even though she tried to be tough. It was the worst wound she had recieved since her throat injury.
Ow. Owowow. Pain. Lots of it. Semi-conscious, the only Natalie was registering was lots and lots and lots of pain. Ow. Her eyes flutterred open, then closed again. She groaned slightly, and her eyes finally opened properly as she returned to the real world. she swiftly decided that she preferred any world other than this one, but there wasn't an awful lot she could do about it.
She opened her eyes, and tried to look around the room. Her neck was ok, so she could move her head and saw several people in the room with her. Why was that lady being so loud? Natalie vaguely recognised her, but she wasn't quite conscious enough to make sense of it. She groaned again, as she finally figured out where she was hurting, and then she got a foggy memory of an angry guard smacking her. And then the pain. Ah yes, the pain. Natalie finally recognised the nurse as being in the cell before they got here. Why was she here, though? Maybe she followed them?

Everything seemed to start going crazy inside the inifamry. Jason sat up clinching his ribs from the beat down he received from the guards not to long ago. He didn't know what in the hell to think as he watched more and more guards leaving and more and more mutants staying. Taking a few minutes he realized that some of them where working here now. What, how long has he been out. Damn now they were making us work all the jobs in the camp. Shit it was more Mutants here then Jason new about. He was still fixated on all the commotion that was going on with the cat girl that he didn't realize there was someone standing over him with a small glass of water and a little cup in her other hand.
"Here just take these." A young lady said with a soft spoken attitude as she poured the pills on to Jason's chest. Jason just looked at here with the worlds biggest smile on his face. As if he was five years old and just his first ever video game. Jason looked down picking up the pills. "Mm the good stuff. You shouldn't have." He said taking a deep breath before inhaling them ever so quickly. The young lady handed him the glass of water and Jason drank it down. "What the hell is in that water it taste like dirt and rust!" He sat up quickly choking and coughing trying to get the taste out his mouth and it hit him. The pills went straight to his head and motionless he became. Jason laid back looking around taking in everything in the room. The people. the lights the shinney objects that shined in the light. Jason was in a pure daze and out of anybodies mind well until the pills wore off that is.
Neena used the commotion to her advantage, to blend into the background. Under the guise of gathering and replacing laundry, she assessed the layout of the Infirmary.
It was laid out like a small clinic. Several beds lined one wall; not enough if this mad rush were to keep up. Tables inbetween the beds, curtains to separate them if needed or wanted. A suspiciously unused-looking sanitary sink/counter in one corner. Restroom in another. Several doors leading to other areas, some marked some not.
She took a special interest in one door marked 'Supplies'. There was a tiny window in the door. She gave a quick glance to be sure chaos still prevailed, then peeked inside the window. She saw shevles lined with, <"Imagine that...">, various supplies. Well, it seemed that the Powers-That-Be wanted the inmates of their lovely little getaway to be in decent health. Can't enjoy such interesting activities as Rock Smashing and Pretend-to-be-a-Punching Bag with a cough, now can we?
She moved away quickly before someone could pull her away. She waited a few minutes, during which time Gwendolyn pulled Nika past her. She reached out and gave the cat-girl's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, and flashed her a smile, before she was whisked away.
"What the hell is in that water it taste like dirt and rust!" Jason's outburst distracted her momentarily. In the rush of people she lost track of him at first. When her gaze finially found him, he was in the process of lying back down. And possibly in the process of zoning out, given the glazed look in his eyes.
<"Good to know the painkillers work,"> she thought.
One of the other doors caught her attention. It was marked 'Miscellaneous', and the window was dark.
<"Miscellaneous? That's begging for a peek...."> She made motions of gathering up the sheets, moving closer to the door. But she couldn't make out anything in the room. She bit her lip, weighing her options.
<"This is gonna hurt...."> She bent over a bit, letting one of the sheets drag the floor, and wound the loose end around her ankle. Then taking a deep breath, she stared at the door and blinked.
The instant her xray vision activated, the restraining cuff did as well, and sent a jolt of electricity up her arm and through her upper body. She hissed, and jerked backwards, pulling on the sheets in the process, which pulled her feet from under her, and effectively dumped the rest of her ungracefully onto her back.
"Hey! No goofing off!" That was the most she'd heard her escort say that day. She bit back the pain and attempted a lighthearted chuckle.
"Eh, sorry. Always been a bit bumble-footed...."
"Right. Get up. That stuff isn't going to wash itself."
<"Huh. A grammatically correct statement. Whaddya know?">
"Right away Boss." She grunted a bit as she stood; she was going to be stiff the next day, for sure. On the way out she smiled at Natalie, and crossed her eyes and stuck her tongue out at Jason. She wasn't sure either of them were conscious enough to see.
As she was led out, arms full, she considered what her quick 'glimpse' had revealed. Shelves lined with small canisters, none of them marked, all the same in shape, color and make. What was in them?
The thought occupied her all the way to the Laundry Pool.....
Blinking dozily through the pain, Natalie realised that it wasn't as painful as it should be. Coming closer to consciousness, she realised that something had been wrapped around the injury. She tried to move, but that made it hurt so much more. Let's just stay here for now. She lay still, trying to make her eyes work. She wasn't close enough to the waking world for her to see much in focus, but she did notice a dark-skinned lady waving at her. She tried to wave back, but her arm just kind of waggled uselessly. I think I'll stick to my not moving policy.
Once she was moved to a private area Nika let Gwen cut open the side where her wound is. Laying on her side she tried not to move too much while the woman did her best to clean up the cat girl's side and then dress the wound. She put on some sort of salve. Was it just going to keep her from bleeding or was it something to help her heal faster?
When Gwen was finished taping up the bandage Nika responded to the question about the new dress. "I'll just wait until you think you're done with all you need to do." Nika then let her mind drift as gwen walked off to check on others in the infirmary. She wondered what the others had been sent to do for work. Nika caught a glimpse of Neena so maybe she was tasked to help in the infirmary.

Jason's eyes slowly opened. His head was still slightly spinning but he still had the pain killers in his system keeping him sane. Jason sat up knot really feeling to much pain in his rib section looked around at the new people in the ward. Wow what were they doing to the people here. Either everybody was as loud mouth as he was or they really liked taking cheap shots. Jasons eyes looked around again and saw Nikki laying on one of the hospital beds and a pile of bloody tools next to here. 'Hmm, wonder what happen there.' all kinds of different images ran through his brain. Jason looked up as the doors to the Inifarmy opened up. Two guards came walking and and started talking to one of the nurses. Jason knew they were talking about him cause they kept pointing and looking over his way. Now Jason new he started alot of stuff but what did he do this time that was so wrong. Just then one of the guards came over to Jasons' bedside telling him to hold out his hands. Apparently Jason was now a risk after all the issues he caused and was to be escorted in cuffs everywhere he went. And he was from what the guards told him he has been here far to long and off on his way to the rock quarry. With that Jason was dragged off and out of the room. And all Jason could do was think about how he was gonna get some more pain meds.
(To kep things straight this part of this thread has come right guard barracks
Shya had followed the sound of Grit’s foot steps into the infirmary. She’d been here a few times but not for someone who was still breathing. Again she pushed that thought out of her mind.
She basically knew her way around well enough to know where the big doors were. With a shuffling step she speed her strides up until her finger found the door frame, then the door, then the handle. Pushing the door aside she kept it open for Grit to Cary Amp through before moving past him again.
Immediately going to work on the curtain. Well the curtain that fell in her face. That hadn’t been there before and her cane hadn’t warned her about it. In fact for a minute Shya was a bit baffled until she felt the slight vibrations of the rings above her, through the curtains cloth. So again she pulled that to the side with one arm.
(OOC: k, hope this post is Gwendolyn-like enough....)
Gwen stood by the counter, filing the latest of the days' cases. Over the past few weeks her workload had shifted from the initial cases of trauma on both mutant and guards alike, to more mundane matters. She didn't fool herself into believing that the mutants were behaving themselves as they were expected too; more than likely they just weren't coming to the Infirmary for treatment anymore. Most of the guards didn't 'brag' about their deeds around her, having been on the receiving end of her own outbursts. She did not mince words nor pull punches; mutant and human felt her wrath equally. The other nurses followed her orders without question now. Though they had adopted the habit of feigning phobia when asked to treat mutants who were bleeding or nauseated, a habit she considered nothing but an excuse to be lazy and/or cruel. She tolerated it, only because if she treated them, she knew they were being treated the best possible. She was a doctor, after all.
She looked up as Shya entered, followed closely by Grit. Her lips pressed together and her eyes narrowed when she saw the bundle he was holding was actually a person, a girl.
"Set her on a bed, over there." She pointed the right direction, and followed. She growled as she fumbled with the curtain, though seeing a bare shoulder underneath the cloth gave her a good idea. "Where was she?"
She waited for an answer, but once she got it, she shooed Grit and Shya away. "Out! Wait over there. You too." She pointed again, and then shut the curtain. Even though she knew Shya was blind, it was habit.
She cast through her mind for a name to go with the unconscious girl, but couldn't come up with one right away, until she saw the red diabetic bracelet. Amanda Enders, deaf. First things first; take care of the sugar issue. Once she was stable in that area, she carefully unwrapped the rest of the blanket, and started her examination.
There were very few topical wounds, other than bruises, but simply those told the girl's story very vividly. Gwen's expression grew steadily hostile as she treated and bandaged what she could. Finally, she injected a painkiller into the girls arm, and carefully redressed her in a clean dress.
Satisfied that Amp was stable, for now, Gwen stomped back out into the main office. "Where was she?" she repeated her question, glaring at Grit. He was one of the few seemingly decent guards in the complex, but she wasn't going to dimiss the possibility that he had been involved somehow. She turned to Shya. "And how are you involved?" Her voice was low, but a definite growl. She was becoming fed up with everyone, and frustrated.
Shya had been still in shock. The fact that what happened to this girl, could have been her just kept running through her mind. In many ways she’d relived this several times in the camps. Ushering the dead to their final resting places, but this was the first time she’d had to deal with someone living.
When Gwen first asked where the girl was, Shya’s throat was still dry. Her mouth had opened to answer only to feel Gwen’s hand on her arm, escorting her to a different area to wait.
Waiting, Able to hear and sense some things that went on, but waiting. She didn’t have to do that with the dead. She could break down, but she could work while she broke down. Give herself something to do. Something that maybe numbed the pain. This there was nothing to do. No where to walk. About all she could do is fiddle with the hem of her skirt, smooth the fabric out, then ruffling it between her fingers again. Sitting in silence.
What felt like hours later, Shya heard the nurse return.
"Where was she?"
Shya’s eyes whidened and she took a step back. Again trying to make her mouth work. But sound didn’t come out until after Gwen asked her next question.
"And how are you involved?"
“How is she?” The words were blurted out. Not an answer though. Only another question. So she swallowed and went on. “I woke up with a sharp pain,” She gave a shrug. “then just knew to find her.” Should she have to explain how she knew more? Shya wasn't even sure she would be able to explain. Absent mindedly, she began rubbing her wrist where she'd been shocked.

Girt calmly looked Gwen in the eye. He had done nothing wrong, so he started from the beginning calmly explaining the whole story, from the time where he was off shift, how he was woken by knocking on his door, to being led by this seemingly blind girl. Then seeing … the scene, and reading the sign and realising that this was the combined work of Grunt and Shahiel, to quickly wrapping her in a towel and bringing her here. “And that is how I got involved.” He finished.
“Will she be alright?” he asked, his eyes suddenly flashed terrible anger for an instant as he said “I will have a word with Grunt about this, the goes too far, I hate the brutality that I see, but this… if this goes unchecked… No, I will not let that happen on my life.” The last few words were a growl of his own, the hand by his side clenched with the veins standing out.
If you don’t mind I’ll check back on her later. I need to go on shift then I think Mr Grunt and I need to have a LITTLE chat.” He said the words ‘little chat’ through clenched teeth. Finally he looked Gwen in the eye and said “Take good care of her.” Then he gathered his things and prepared to leave
