The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kaitlyn wanted to make cookies. It was more difficult than she expected, thanks to the mishap with the flour. She had wiped most of it off of her little printed-out recipe. Her clothes still had a little bit on them; she could wash that off later. As for the powder on the floor and the counters, she could fix that later. She didn't know what to do with the flour that was on the ceiling. Ignore it, maybe? Get a ladder? She would cross that bridge when she got to it.
Another result of the flour mishap: she would need to start over. Frustrating, but not a huge deal. She set the bowl of mostly-flour off to the side and grabbed an empty one.

Serena was up late again. The mansion hallways were fairly deserted. She was wearing her standard night wear. Tank top, hoodie and trousers. She had been reading for a few hours and she couldn't sleep.
She decided she could do with stretching her legs. She was walking slowly in the direction of the kitchen. Thinking of just how amusing it was that she made so many of her more colourful encounters at the mansion at this hour in these hallways.
Meeting Victoria more than once, meeting Drew, Meeting Gina, Meeting Evelyn, Meeting Leon. See seemed to be at her most social in the sleepless hours of the night. It was rather a strange thing.
She stepped into the kitchen, intent on making herself some tea she raised an eyebrow, walking past Kaitlyn and eyeballing the chaos as she walked straight to the kettle and flicked the switch to turn it on.
She smiled and spoke as she fished out a mug. "Having a little trouble?" She stated warmly in a tone which seemed to carry her smile. "Ah!" She exclaimed as she found a suitable mug and then quickly placed it on the counter and dropped the tea bag in and had the boiling water in the mug with such speed that clearly showed that she had a tea problem.

Kaitlyn turned to face Serena, staring at her with her seemingly three-pupilled eyes.
“I, uh… Yeah. Kinda.” This was accompanied by a weak, nervous chuckle. Kaitlyn was afraid this would happen. She would make a big mess in the kitchen, then someone would see it, then she would start dwelling on the time her dad made her lie to the doctor about falling down a flight of stairs that didn’t exist.
“I promise I’ll…” She sounded terrified. That wasn’t right; Serena wasn’t going to attack her or anything. The reasons she felt terrified were all stupid reasons, and she needed to get over them already. She cleared her throat and started to speak again, this time with more confidence: “I promise I’ll clean up after myself.” The redhead turned around and stared down at her little recipe printout, then she took a deep breath. She could get through this.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Serena smiled gently at Kaitlyn, who clearly felt both guilty and embarassed at the mess. Serena remembered herself trying to cook when her brother was visiting her back in new york when her dad was still around, walking in on the mess she had made attempting to cook the two of them breakfast while her dad had been passed out from too much work for father's day.
He had told her that everyone had trouble cooking and sometimes made messes at first. He had then quietly helped her prepare the breakfast, showing her a few tricks for making it and then had hidden back in his room and told her to put the coffee pot on, a few minutes later her father had come through to the pleasant surprise of a cooked breakfast and coffee.
She had gotten much better at cooking and baking over the years and due to lots of practice when living with her brother had actually become pretty adept. She responded to Kaitlyn in a soothing tone. "New to baking..." She peered over at the scattered ingrediant's and added in a soft tone a moment later "Cookies I take it."
She gave the younger girl a reassuring smile. "Relax. I'm not going to grill you for making at a mess. That would both be rude, and hypocritcal..." She coughed awkwardly and nodded at the section of cupboards in the kitchen which were clearly newer than the rest. Almost as if they had been replaced due to some accident...
She then looked over to the mess, noting that there was still enough ingrediant's left to salvage the cookies. Kaitlyn had clearly over bought for them. She smiled gently. "looks like you've got enough left to salvage it, I can give you hand if you would like?" She smiled.
While she waited for Kaitlyn to respond, she drained the teabag from her mug, and added sugar and milk, then stirred and took a slow sip from the liquid.

“I can do it myself,” the redhead snapped at Serena without even turning to face her.
What, did Serena think she was too freakin’ dumb to manage making cookie by herself? Was that it? Oh, Kaitlyn would show her. She’d show everyone; she could accomplish this simple god damn task all by her god damn self, and how dare they insult her by insinuating that she would ever need help with something so simple.
Kaitlyn stared at the recipe for a few more seconds, doing her best to ignore what was almost certainly Serena’s smug, British superiority.
She should probably get another spoon, given what happened to the last one. Still angry, the redhead violently tugged open a nearby drawer. No spoons, this was entirely the wrong drawer. Shouldn’t she have figured out the layout of this stupid freakin’ kitchen by now? She slammed the drawer closed.
The flour-filled bowl exploded, sending bits of plastic and finely powdered flour flying through the kitchen.
Kaitlyn stared at the mess for a second. Then, very slowly, she sat herself down on the floor and curled up into a ball, knees tucked into her chest, leaning her back against the island in the center of the kitchen. She stared at her feet and didn’t say anything.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Serena watched as Kaityn detroyed the kitchen and winced as the flour bowl exploded, some of it flew in her direction and she ducked just as it soured overhead. Luckily she had already consumed enough of her tea so that she didn't spill anything. She dusted off part of the counter and then set her mug down on it.
Serena walked over to Kaityn and gently placed a hand on her knee. "are you okay?" it wasn't so much pity in her voice as concern. She suspected that kaitlyns mutation had caused that bowl to explode. Serena had experienced kaitlyns mutations aftermath first hand,
The hiccup fit had actually caused the haemokinetic quite a bit of trouble. Not that she minded though, she was pretty sympathetic to kaitlyns plight. She had never exercised the highest degree of control over her mutation, although she had been a little better with it recently.
