The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike chuckled. "Really, the only time I've had wine was when Ronnie, Johnny and I went and broke into Grandpa's wine cellar." He shook his head, "That was a day none of us ever forgot... Talk about hangovers..."

Daria smiled. "You have such cute stories." she grinned.
"I've never been drunk." She admitted. "Even though I was four years younger than Jonah, I ended up being the grown up. If I went to a party with him, I was the one who usually got him home without getting caught." She laughed. "It was usually over some girl." she shook her head.
"I remember one time, when I was thirteen, Jonah got invited to a college party. I was wearing so much makeup that night. He was looking for the girls who invited him but he got distracted very easily and forgot all about them. He basically ignored me for the whole night because he was plastered and tryingto get numbers. So these guys are trying to talk to me and of course I just got over the cootie's stage and I was dating Sean. So I scream and Here comes Jonah barreling out of nowhere. He takes one of the guys out and gives the other two really bad black eyes.
"We had to leave fast before someone came to 'escort' us out. I did all of Jonah's chores the next day because he was passed out on my bed. I gave some really weird excuses to my grandarents that day as to why Jonah was MIA." she smiled fondly at the thought of her old friend.
Mike smiled, again feeling a pang of guilt. He still felt that that entire scene with the police could have been avoided if he'd just cut right to the chase and took the police out right away... then Jonah wouldn't have outed himself, and...
He just shook his head and raised his glass again. "And here's to the past," he said sadly.

Daria smiled. "Don't feel bad.
"Jonah is better off...where he is.. than with my family. I don't even think the mansion was a good place for him. He's not a hard working person, he hates school and he has a bad habit of fighting. Letting him actually use his powers in a fight could have been a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I loved the guy but eerything happens for a reason." she said, refusing to accept the toast.
"And none of it was your fault. You saved me, you're my body guatd, remember?" she smiled.
He gave a small laugh. "True... you know me, I can't let anything happen to you... and if something does, I have to bust some heads."
"Still... I don't know about you, but everything more than a few months ago just seems... I don't know, a different life. It's strange. I don't think I could go back to my old life now, even if it were possible and I wanted to."

Daria nodded furiously.
"I was thinking this while I was in the infirmary...after they kicked you out." she laughed. "I really just want to leave it all behind. My grandparents didn't have a change of heart like I wanted them to, Jonah is gone, my parents are gone and Jamal is here. I'm in charge of the restaurant. Everything in my old life that was good is with me here. And I've got all the nice new things too." she grinned.
The waiter brought their food and served them. Daria kept her eyes on Mike's, thanking the waiter off handedly.
Hope he didn't spit in our food cuz I wouldn't flirt with him. she thought fighting back to the urge to sniff the meals and see.
Mike glanced at the waiter as he walked away, then back at the food. "He didn't," he said quietly, "But oh, you should hear the thoughts he's thinking about me right now. Rather amusing, honestly, considering he wouldn't be able to follow through with half of them."
Daria laughed and closed her eyes half way, putting up the back of her hand to her forehead. "Oh the pains of being beautiful" she joked, twitching her ears.
"Well, you can't blame him for trying. Besides, A fight between you and him would be really amusing to watch. Since he's probably not prepared to be hoisted several feet into the air by some invisible force."
She picked up once of the shrimp and bit into it happily eyeing the caviar sadly.

"Something about eating baby animals." Daria admitted.
"When fish are grown, its fine if i eat them. I've chased down actual live animals in my worst moments. But fish eggs...they're like babies....notice you've nevr seen me eat a chicken egg? I wont eat veal either..baby lamb. Can't eat children."
As she spoke she brushed the caviar onto one of the smaller plates used for bread and appetizers. "Maybe I'm too sensitive."
He shrugged. "Not really... I've just never thought about it that way. I know that veal is a pretty sore spot with animal rights people, too. I've never thought about eggs that way, though."
He decided not to bring up just how many baked things had eggs in them... cookies, cake, bread...

Bread was really the only thing on that list that Daria had eaten since she thought about the egg sitation.
She hadn't had cake since her birthday, and not for a long time before that.
The shrimp was breaded too. She ate it anyways.
"I can't say I'm that big on animal rights. I should be, but sometimes they get out of hand. I don't agree with killing things for fur and what not. But I don't really like the vegetarian lifestyle. The circle of life has to go on." she said matter-of-factly.
"Well, since I don't wear furs or eat veal, I guess I'm safe by your standards," he grinned. "Can't say I've ever been a big fan of hunting, now that I think about it."
"You mean you never get the urge to stalk something down?" Mike asked, quirking an eyebrow. "Even in the Danger Room?" There was nothing insulting in his tone, though he did seem a little tentative as he asked. He really was just curious.
