The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lana shuffled the files on the temporary desk that was her home for the time being at the prescient. She'd been hired to come up with a profile of the individual attacking mutants, but she was convinced it was more than an individual despite the same MOs. Today she was meeting with an officer who had experience with the attacks, and she'd heard through the grape vine that she'd get a chance to interview some of the victims.
Lana really believed that profiling could be the key in this case. It would allow officers to preemptively strike against whoever was attacking mutants, and be prepared without causing a media frenzy. But she could only provide an accurate profile with more information. So far, going by what was in the papers wasn't giving Lana much headway.
She drummed her fingers on the desk as she watched for the officer she'd be speaking with. She had no idea what he looked like but was told his name was Shawn. She didn't even have a last name. That's how crazy things had been lately. No time for even last names.

Streak got a phone call. He was really starting to hate this whole technology thing. Phones were becoming more of a nuisance to him than a really poorly done commercial on TV. The call was from one of the local precincts. It only made sense that he was being asked to come in because of his close knowledge of the attack on Sam. His car rolled into the precincts parking lot and immediately walked through the double doors of the building.
He was told that he was going to meet some profiler that might be able to get them closer to who was actually behind all of this. Even though the cops seemed to think that it was just an isolated incident the silvermancer was not as easily convinced. The X-men has no idea where or who he was supposed to be meeting this profiler.
Shawn looked around and noticed, off in a corner in a desk, was someone that seemed to be buried in paperwork. Turned out it was just a secretary for one of the big shots at the office. He'd gotten a name... a first name and that was it. He didn't know what exactly he was looking for to distinguish this one person out of the many that were in the room. "Excuse me." Streak said prying the woman away from her work of filing reports. "I'm looking for some profiler named Lana. Can you point me in the right direction?" The secretary pointed him towards another lady and he figured that was her. She looked like she was looking for someone so Shawn guessed that was her.
Lana looked up as Shawn entered. "Ah, hello! Shawn is it? Come on in, a little cramped in here I'm afraid." The first thing that caught her attention about Shawn was that he had silver eyes. Not grey. Silver. Like staring at a piece of jewellery. The second thing that caught her attention was that he was fairly young and good looking. Most of the officers here were middle aged with a little extra weight. They had some fine lines around the eyes too. Shawn looked bright and ready for action. "Have a seat." she motioned to the chair across from her desk, and she resumed her own seat.
On the desk were the case files of the recent attacks. "I'm not sure how much you know about criminal profiling..." began Lana. "But it's not an exact science. It's not like what you see on TV on the crime shows, or the famous movies like The Silence of the Lambs. But a well thought out profile can be the key in giving your officers the upper hand with an issue like this. We start my profiling the victims, figuring out what they have in common, and what draws the perps to them. From there we can start to profile the perp. A good profile can help you get a better sense of who you're looking for, and may even give you a sense of when they will strike next. Hopefully we can prevent a next..." she trailed off for a moment and then cleared her throat.
"Anyway, you were sent here to me today because several of the victims identified as belonging to your other place of employment- the Mansion for mutants?" she paused to check her notes. "...and because you allegedly know one of the victims..." she trailed off again and looked at her notes "..a Sam?" she looked up to see if her information was correct.
"I guess we should start at the beginning. Assume I know nothing, and tell me what you know about what happened to your friend Sam." she had her notepad ready.

Lana was right down to business. Streak took a seat as soon as he was in her cramped little area. He wasn't even sure he could call it an office. He listened as Lana explained her purpose and her hopes for the reason she was brought in. The only thing he know about profiling was that it was often used for finding people like serial killers and other people that the police deemed very dangerous and hoped to find before they could wreak havoc else where.
"Anyway, you were sent here to me today because several of the victims identified as belonging to your other place of employment- the Mansion for mutants?...and because you allegedly know one of the victims...a Sam?"
"I guess we should start at the beginning. Assume I know nothing, and tell me what you know about what happened to your friend Sam."
"Well, these cops aren't really 'my guys' I'm here as more of a subject matter expert on mutant actions towards other mutants. I have invaluable experience dealing with aggressive mutants that tend to cause harm to other mutants or humans. I help the cops out if they have any sticky situations that they don't seem equipped to handle." Streak stated. Streak nodded and leaned back in his seat and started to explain things.
"Sam is a good friend of mine. We've worked together for quite a while now and we have been through more stuff than I can tell you about. He's an ice manipulator and can create some pretty cool ice creatures to help defend him. He was attacked after leaving a bar a couple of nights ago by two mutants in plain view of people. These mutants seemed to know him and know all about his powers. They'd done their research. We haven't had any luck tracking those two down yet but there has to be a reason that they tried to kill him. They left him for dead and if another one of our friends hadn't received the signal for help he probably would be dead right now."{/color]
Even going over it with Lana there didn't seem to be any real reason for someone to randomly attack Sam like that. Especially since he claimed that he'd never seen them before. Streak waited to see her reaction and if she had any thoughts on their situation and what this new information might tell her.
ooc: so so so sorry for the delay, I was suuuuper sick!

Lana nodded as Shawn explained. However, now she was confused. Was he a police officer, detective, or a consultant like she was? It was starting to sound like he was probably a consultant on criminal mutants. They'd make a perfect pair, since she was a consultant on psychopathic mutants. Oh, the studies and papers she could write picking this guy's brain... but that would have to wait for another time. She took out her paper and began to jot notes down from that he said.
>>"Sam is a good friend of mine. We've worked together for quite a while now and we have been through more stuff than I can tell you about. Lana wrote furiously. It sounded like Sam and Shawn were very good friends with a long history. "Sometimes when we're trying to profile a perp, profiling their victims helps. We end up seeing patterns between the two that help us predict the behaviour and sometimes even what they'll end up doing next." explained Lana while she wrote. It was clear Shawn held Sam in high regard. "So you're saying mutants. Plural. Was there more than one mutant involved or were there more than one attacks?" she asked. Her file on the subject was pitifully thin. She really didn't have much to go on yet. "It sounds then, as you said there was a lot of research that went into this. Now, how could an attacker obtain that information? Did they seem to have a psychic based mutation? Were they spying? Did they crack into some computer at a school or place of work? It all sounds very organized..."
she'd made the case from the start that there was more than 1 perp involved. Now from Sam it sounded like 2, but she wouldn't be surprised if there were more than that. In fact, this was all sounding a bit too organized. Almost like the mafia. There was never just one. Criminals could be smart, but in cases like this there was usually always someone else pulling the strings. "It would really be great to interview Sam too." she mused. "And any other victims we can track down. Is there a master list yet of everyone who's been involved?" She was an envisioning one hell of a flow chart now. The thing sounded like it was bigger and went deeper than anything her bosses could have imagined.

Streak listened to Lana talk. She certainly knew what she was talking about. "There were definitely more than one mutant that attacked Sam. Although, I think there have been more mutants attacked also. But I can't be certain about it. As far as I can tell they haven't created a list of people attacked." Streak explained to her. Her second set of questions proved to be a little harder to answer without getting into the major details of the schools system.
"Well I can't get into details about our system. It would prove to problematic for the people involved. However, I can assure you that there was no break into our security. We have the most state of the art systems and they are constantly monitored. There are, however, different groups that had some information on Sam..." Streak was thinking of the T.A.T. that had recaptured Sam recently. They'd only just gotten him back, but there was no telling what happened to all those files when they were recovering Sam and the others.
The silvermancer continued, "There's no way I could speak on if they had a psychic mutation about them. It's possible. It's also very possible that they were spying. Sam isn't exactly a low profile person. He's a very out there in-your-face kinda guy. He goes on lots of missions and works with the NYPD also. I wouldn't having him come in for an interview; however, that is a little tricky. The mutants that attacked him let him for dead. That being said; they don't know that he's alive and we've been trying to keep that idea going so that they don't try to attack him again and make the mansion targets."
Did they crack into some computer at a school or place of work? It all sounds very organized..."
Streak nodded. It did sound a little more organized than just a couple of mutants going after someone because they had a vendetta. It was more like they had a purpose for trying to take him out.
ooc: again, got sick. LOL hospital a few times. Better now. Sorry for the delay~ <3

"Hmmm...' replied Lana. "We certainly need to get a master list then. There's no way to identify any patterns until we know the full scope of what's been going on." she made a note of it. Someone was going to make her a list, or heads would roll. They couldn't very well consider cracking the case without it. Shawn continued.
>>"Well I can't get into details about our system. It would prove to problematic for the people involved. However, I can assure you that there was no break into our security. We have the most state of the art systems and they are constantly monitored. There are, however, different groups that had some information on Sam..." <<
Lana crinkled her brows. A simple warrant would allow her to access the school's system. It was remarkable how protective people could be of data. Lana appreciated the need for privacy... but it irritated her when it got in the way of justice. Just created red tape when allowing the police access- a mindful detective- would allow them to either hone in on a suspect, or remove people entirely from the suspect list. She couldn't get angry with Shawn though, he was just trying to do his job. So she wrote herself a little note. She'd let it slide for now- every system thought they were the best security system- but if she thought it could produce a real lead, she had a friendly judge on her side.

"I don't expect you to have all the answers, Shawn." Lana mused. "Moreso thinking and brain storming out loud. Collaborative habit." she winked. "I think it's very important we do interview Shawn. If keeping his status is a high priority, then we simply must find a way to visit him without letting anyone know. But I think our first priority is to create a list of all those who have been attacked, and start interviewing more." she took a sip of her coffee. "You're a good friend, and I can see you take your job seriously. The key here is to be quick. Who knows when this lunatic will strike again."

Lana seemed pretty adamant. He needed to keep the integrity of Sam's secret preserved as much as possible. There didn't seem to be many people coming forward, as far as he knew, saying things about being attacked and almost killed.
"We certainly need to get a master list then. There's no way to identify any patterns until we know the full scope of what's been going on."
"There's only one way you're going to get to talk to Sam... You'll have to go to him. He's not coming here." Streak made a mental note to see if anyone at the mansion had reported anything about attacks.
He pipped up again, "We want to keep him safe but we also want to keep the kids safe as well. We're hoping that by keeping Sam hidden it'll make his attackers restless and possibly we can identify them before they strike again. We also don't want to put the kids in any unnecessary danger by bringing his attackers to the mansion, if we can help it." He thought she would understand his position. Lana seemed reasonable enough to his position. Besides a trip to the mansion wouldn't be too out of the way from anything else.
Now that Streak thought about it, he'd had an instance of seemingly random human-mutant violence. The silvermancer seemed to think it best to bring that up. "Now that I think back...I was involved in a confrontation with a mob of humans and a couple of mutants. I don't know if it has any relation to Sam's attackers but it does seem pretty random now that I think about it. I wasn't a target, per say, but I happened to show up during it. It seemed like both humans and mutants were responsible for the outburst. So, it wasn't like it was a targeted mutant hate thing, or vice versa."
Maybe if there were other accounts of odd things going on from mutants, or others getting attacked like Sam, then they can start to draw a pattern out of it. For Streak at least, there was no way to know if his thing was even remotely connected with Sam's attackers. Streak waited for Lana's opinion on what he'd told her.
ooc; once again, was really really sick. So sorry! Hoping to be back for good now! I'm thinking we can start inviting anyone else in we'd like who'd been through an attack after this
Ic:
>>"We certainly need to get a master list then. There's no way to identify any patterns until we know the full scope of what's been going on."
"I agree." nodded Lana. "Too much at stake."
Shawn looked conflicted over her next statement, and Lana felt herself again wondering at how close he and Sam were. Shawn had the appearance of a man carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"We want to keep him safe but we also want to keep the kids safe as well. We're hoping that by keeping Sam hidden it'll make his attackers restless and possibly we can identify them before they strike again. We also don't want to put the kids in any unnecessary danger by bringing his attackers to the mansion, if we can help it."
Hmm well that made things difficult. She had assumed he was either in a hospital or held up in a safe house. From the way Shawn was talking he was most certainly around children, possibly at the mansion. While that might prove safe for a time, Lana was worried that regardless of whether they interviewed Sam or not, the perp might track him there anyway- putting the kids at risk.
"Well, that is a dilemma." she admitted
>>"Now that I think back...I was involved in a confrontation with a mob of humans and a couple of mutants. I don't know if it has any relation to Sam's attackers but it does seem pretty random now that I think about it. I wasn't a target, per say, but I happened to show up during it. It seemed like both humans and mutants were responsible for the outburst. So, it wasn't like it was a targeted mutant hate thing, or vice versa."
Lana furiously wrote notes as he spoke, nodding. "SO you're not sure if the two events are linked. But without more info to make a bigger picture we can't be sure. Good to know. Anything else you remember about that? Anything that stood out?" she prodded. It was Lana's job to ask questions, sometimes that could put people off but she tried to do it in the kindest of ways.
"For instance..." started Lana as she stood up and moved to a map on the cork board. She pushed a red push pin into a spot. The Map was all of NYC. "He was attacked here. I know of one other attack... here." she popped another pin. "Where was your issue?" she held out a tack for him.
Lana wasn't sure how else she could impress about him that it was vital she interview Sam. She also needed that list of other victims so she could start interviewing soon. They were wasting valuable time held up in the office. The perps would most certainly strike again.
