The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"And would you do that, Michael?" his father asked skeptically.
"To get you to be quiet? I would, except I know how much that would make Grandpa angry for me to give in to you."
"What do you know about what he wanted? You probably made this wh-"
"Oh, here we go," Mike said, throwing his arms up, now standing two feet in front of his father. "Listen close, Uncle Rich, this is the part where he starts saying how his eeeeeeeevil mutant son forced Grandpa to change his will and then killed him."
Richard was standing now, too. "Lex, you're not really th- Oh my god, you are."
"This all started when you went to that Mutant Training school. He even died there. I can't believe that this is all a coincidence."
"I can't believe you!" Michael shouted. His eyes were glowing as he started unbuttoning his shirt. "Yes, I didn't stop it from happening," he said, pulling it open to show three still raw bullet wounds, "But there was a reason for that."
Sarah couldn't look, and Johnny couldn't look away. Uncle Richard seemed convinced, but Michael's father seemed impassive.
Mike continued as he rebuttoned his shirt. "And if you want, Dad, the people who tried to save his life got out a video camera at his request and taped him saying who was to blame for his death. And they even got a good shot of me laying unconscious, bleeding from my stomach for good measure. If you contest this, you'll be laughed out of court."
"Lex, this is ridiculous. Let it go."
Michael and his father stared each other down for a minute.
"John, Sarah, we're going."
He and his wife turned and walked toward the door, but neither of their younger children moved. Johnny was taking his turn staring down Mike, an odd look in his eye. Sarah didn't seem to want to move from Daria.

Daria grinned.
"Are you kidding! Thats the best moment I've had all day. I mean, talk about good T.V!." She nudged him in the arm playfully. It was obvious she didn't really care as long as he was okay.
Mike couldn't help but chuckle. "Well, at least he's to afraid to contest the will now."
"Not that I'll tell him, but do you really have a tape like you said?"
"Actually, yes. Well, I don't have it on me, it's back at the school. I didn't want anything happening to it during the trip, so it's locked up safe there in case it's needed."
"Well, that's good to know. And don't take it to heart, Mike... Lex was always like this. If he doesn't grow out of it, you're not losing much."
Mike's voice cracked as he started to talk again. He stopped, embarrassed, and then started over. "Thanks, Uncle Rich."
He sighed, looking at Daria with a tired smile. "You ready to go, Kitten?"
"We'd love to stay and talk, but we have things we need to do too," Richard offered.
"I figured," Mike said, shaking his uncle's hand. "Let me know if my dad starts to try anything stupid. He'll get more pissed than he is nervous sooner or later."
They all waved, and a short while later, Mike and Daria headed out of the office hand in hand.

((In the hotel))
Daria entered the room by herself, she'd left her cell phone in the morning's haste and wanted to rush back in case Hairpin had called. Mike had heard their picture was in the paper and left her momentarily to buy a copy. She had laughed at him, still not understanding why he thought it was so cool.
She kicked off her high heels and flopped down on a couch. Dafi was happy to se her hopped onto her lap.
~Where's Mike?~
~Buying a paper~ she ran a hand over the rabits soft fur.

Daria pretended to think about it.
Then she opened the door. "Nah, that would hurt me just as much as it'll hurt you." she kissed him. "But considering how clean and soft that carpet is...I wouldn't complain if I had to camp out there." She turned and led the way to the seating area. "So are we stars or what?"
"Eh, so I hear. The gift shop was all sold out, so we'll just have to hope we can run across some copies later," he answered, eyeing Daria as they walked into the sitting area.

Mike sat and she sat on his lap. Dafi struggled free of her grasp and bounded from Mike's head to the other room.
"I always feel like that rabbit knows more than I do." she joked. "And didn't I tell you I wasn't all that eager to see the headlines? 'Mutant freaks have Romantic night.' Yeah, so excited." she roled her eyes.
It all seemed like it should, but something was off. Maybe it was the way he kissed, maybe it was his smile, maybe it was a difference in the touch of his mind, but something was off... slightly.
