The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Teddy's visits had been going fine. He'd been looking for some friends lately. Some that wouldn't freak out if he had a melt down. Just one, maybe two... To many people would probably freak him out but either way his doctor thought he should hang out with people more than just be by himself.
And so it was that Teddy found himself wandering the hallways of the mansion. A few people passed by him here and there. Most of whom he didn't know and didn't want to explain to many thing to. Ted walked around passing dorms and even stopping for a short time at the kitchen for a quick snack before moving on to another lap around the mansion. As he made his way through one hallways he reached a painting that he hadn't noticed before. It was interesting to him for some reason. Maybe it reminded him of home, or maybe delved deeper than that and brought up something that the kidnapping and subsequent rescue had repressed.
Either way the picture of the woods with its tall green pine trees, thick undergrowth and over hanging painted a vivid picture in his mind. If he stared hard enough he thought he could see birds in the trees and he even thought that there was a deer painted in the background, almost like it was pushing through some underbrush far away from where the painter had sat. He was studying the painting so close that he didn't even hear the footsteps coming up behind him.
Not because of schoolwork. That was going fine, not to mention it was quite relaxing for her. Nor did it have anything to do with the various riots that had only recently ended, during which She and much of her family had hidden under a few metaphorical floorboards. No, her bad day had nothing to do with all that.
A classmate...had touched her.
Just a simple gesture. A "good job" pat-on-the-back. He couldn't have known that it would make her go into a panic. Or spend the next hour in the bathroom trying to stop panicking.
But it all happened. And it didn't leave Kara feeling particularly secure in any sort of company.
She was on her way back to her room, silently hoping her roommate was out, when she noticed another one. He was just standing there, staring at a painting, obtusely blocking the hallway.
Okay, maybe not blocking the entire hallway. But there was no way for Kara to get around him without having him be in the Danger Zone.
So...she decided to stand up for herself.
"U-um..." she squeaked, "can...can you m--move, please?"
Teddy jumped when the voice spoke to him. He whipped around to see who it was. He didn't think he'd been in anyone's way, but maybe he had. "Oh. Sorry. Kara, I didn't even hear you come up." Teddy was a little embarrassed that he let someone get so close to him, especially after all he'd been through recently. One would think that he would have learned his lesson.
The young mutant smiled at Kara for a bit. Finally he said,"So...What's going on? Haven't seen you in a while." Neither of which was either of their faults. Ted still blamed Sam for all that happened to him, even though he was told it wasn't even Sam's fault. She seemed troubled. Maybe he could help. They had been nice to each other in the past, or so he thought that was true. Some of his memories were still fuddled up and fuzzy from his kidnapping.
"Oh. Sorry. Kara, I didn't even hear you come up."
Wait...he knew her?
Kara felt the gears immediately start turning in her head. He did look kind of familiar, but she couldn't place where she'd seen him before. One of her classes? Maybe in the Library somewhen? The internet?
Oh...wait...
"T--Ted, right? From move-in day?"
He smiled a little bit. "So...What's going on? Haven't seen you in a while."
"U--um..." She thought for a moment about how to answer that. Did she really want to explain her hideously awful day to a near-total stranger? The answer was clearly no, but then what could she say? That day was basically all that happened today. And it's pretty hard to not mention what basically took over the entirety of a day.
In the end, she decided to keep it simple.
"I...I was just...um...heading back to my room." It took her a moment, but then she realized what was missing from that sentence. "Y--you?"
