The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura's assignment had left her little time to dwell to much on the remaining thread of her past. Most of it had turned out be something Aura was ill equipped to deal with. Aura's past defined her and she had taken pride in that, but she knew at least half the time she remembered in the forest was untrue, but she also knew the god's stretched beyond the forest she recalled so vividly.
Her failure to communicate with her god's had been well expected, frustrating. She knew no one else alive who even knew her god's existed. She was sure their were a number of hidden worshipers spread over the planet but locating them would likely have been to time consuming to be plausible. She knew little of them and one of the things she did know was they liked to keep hidden.
Not for the first time she considered finding a few gang members to vent her frustration's over but resisted the urge. Relaxing as it would have been she knew she needed to keep a low profile in that sense and that they were no challenge and not a real answer to her questions.
It was only then Aura considered her location. She had no idea what the church worshiped and also assumed at this hour she would be among the few there. While they might not know of her god's she considered the idea that they might understand how to communicate with their own, and from that perhaps she could find a way to find the direction the god's had chosen for her.
With a sigh she walked up to the building and for a moment looked confused. Did she walk in like sanctuary or did she knock? Not wanting to offend she knocked forming a small Aura hammer around her hand to do so.

Business, if one can apply the term to a shrine, had been slow lately.
These strange people, Mahadevi reflected while sitting on her pillows, spectacularly enjoyed mixing politics with religion. Subsequently, since the mutant riots in the city, her shrine had been known more and more as a mutant sanctuary, and less and less as a place of worship. She had the creeping suspicion that the white-haired mind reader girl was not the only one who preferred to see her as a gifted human rather than a goddess.
There was a knock on the door. Mahadevi rose up from the pillows and arranged herself in a more regal position. Worshiper or mutant, a visitor was a rare thing lately. The guards opened the door and led the girl to the inner sanctuary, into the presence of the Goddess.
Aura was a bit surprised when the door's opened. She was a bit more surprised by the lack of surprise by her the pale glow that surrounded her. The hammer melted fluidly back into her Aura seemingly flowing up her arm as it did. Looking around the church as she was escorted she considered the inside of the building carefully.
It was different then what she knew, though weather that was because of location or something else she did not know. She had been in a half dozen churches since she had come to the city but those experiences were each very different, usually bloody.
So ingrained in her were the old teaching's that upon seeing the figure the guard's and lead her two. She was a mutant that much was obvious and comforting. It only now occurred to Aura that she could have ended up seeking advice from a Human. SHe could get advice from animals from her cat, or as others called it a skunk.
Instinct took over, And Aura bent down on one knee, and bowed her head slightly, her eyes staying on the four armed Mutant the entire time. The position was one Aura had been taught, a way submitting to higher authority though no one in the order, had much apreshisted the gesture, she recalled how confused isabel had been.
"Forgive this late interruption Honored one, but my question hound my mind and i fear the alternative might prove...messy and indiscreet" She said. SHe had no idea if this woman could help but she had to try or she might have to actively start seeking out those that remained of her own religion, which she was sure would go poorly and violently.

Finally, someone who knew how to greet a goddess. Mahadevi smiled graciously. She expected another mutant seeking refuge, or trying to make acquaintance with the goddess, but not a genuine believer. Those had been scarce as of late, especially since the riots.
Waving one hand, she motioned to Aura to rise and take a seat on a pillow on the lower steps of her little pavilion. Another hand lifted a glass t her mouth, and Mahadevi sipped her fragrant drink before she spoke.
"Tell me your question, young lady. The goddess will listen."
The idea this woman was considering herself a goddess was lost on Aura at the moment. She did note the four armed woman was quite pretty however. More then that though she was glad the woman seemed to welcome her and wanted to hear her question. Already thing's seemed to be going rather well.
Where to begin however was another issue Aura considered in her mind as she took the invitation to sit on the lower steps of the pavilion. Aura typically worried little about offending other's normally but this situation was more delicate.
"Thank you Honored one, I am Aura. I know not the beliefs of this temple, i come anyway. I once lived in a great forest to the north, there i was taught the religion i know, even as we fought the human's who sought our death. The human's eventually won, and everyone including our prophet wound up dead, except for me." she began, not quite sure how to begin such a conversation. It had been a very long time since she had spoken to anyone of such things as her gods.
"With the prophet dead, their is no one i know who can communicate with them. I seek direction in order to properly obey them. The goddess Alpha, the Lady of Nature, gave us our original direction. Evaluation seeks to replace inferior species with superior ones such as Human's being replaced by Mutant kind. To this end we were brought up to slay Humans until we were killed. Success in obedience brought the chance to be reincarnated and once again serve, failure brought one's soul to Solarrus, Devourer of Souls to be erased forever. " she said, her voice maintaining a controlled respectful tone, and not once did she make eye contact with the once before her.
"While that direction worked well in the woods, i fear it may not have been meant for the city. To this end i seek direction from the god's and while they may not be those of this temple, still i come seeking aide in contacting them. One such as yourself seemed the best option. Can you help?" she went on glossing over much to avoid droning on for hours though she would answer any
"Well i know not what you value, i will bring whatever tribute is in my power for your aide" Aura said her voice revealing her worry of the situation and he rgenuine fear of not knowing what the gods wanted.

The glass of cocktail in one of Mahadevi's many hands stopped halfway to the table and hovered mid-air, held lightly by the slender fingers, as the goddess watched the girl with a renewed interest in her eyes.
She... was... Perfect.
She was not one of the tourists. Not one of the gawkers, not one of the polite an unbelieving diplomats. Not a hippie, not a cynic, not even a born again Hindu who thought they knew the Goddess. This girl. New what divinity really was.
>>"While that direction worked well in the woods, i fear it may not have been meant for the city. Well i know not what you value, i will bring whatever tribute is in my power for your aide"
Mahadevi inclined her head. Sure, the part about killing humans, that was... more up the alley of Kali and Durga than more graceful goddesses, but the girl's plea sounded genuine, and she was a true believer in divine guidance. If anyone deserved an answer from the Goddess, it was Aura.
"You made the right decision coming to me with your question." she nodded, setting down the glass. "It is not easy to follow one's beliefs in a strange world. I am... I have come here from far away as well. I can't promise you I can contact the divinity that guided you. But I can offer my help. As for the tribute... I shall decide on that later. For now, we shall just talk."
"Very hard" she agreed. Aura had had trouble following the beliefs exactly as they had been giving in the wood's. Still she had done what she could and had upheld the most important tenants she felt. "Your Aide is all i can ask for and any help certainly appreciated. "She said with a bow of her head.
"My own attempts have met with out success. Still i was not meant for such thing's and so that might by why" she said indirectly referring to her station as a warrior. She had expected to fail with her own attempts but hoped deeply this woman could succeed or even grant her a hint of what she needed to do.
"I do not understand your beliefs, but in mine, failure to obey the god's risks the Lord of souls, Solarrus devouring soul and condemning it to oblivion instead of passing it on to eventual rebirth" she said trying to outline her worries to this woman.
