The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"It's perfect!" Coffee and cigarettes went hand in hand, almost like chocolate and peanut butter. Ooh. She made another mental note to pick up some Reese's cups. She held her hands up in a joking manner. "No offense taken."
They walked for a few minutes, and she saw a small magazine stand that she had stopped at once before. A smile spread across her face and she quickened her pace. She had found her salvation. She unzipped her purse and waved to the old man working the stand. "Could I get a pack of Marlboro Smooths?" she asked, pulling a five dollar bill from her purse. She handed it to the man in exchange for the cigarettes.
"Would you like a drag?" she wondered, after she had lit and puffed on the cigarette a few times. "It tastes kind of like peppermint." She held out her hand, the cigarette perched between her fingers.
Ty smiled, his thoughts again trailing. It was funny how things never worked out the way he planned them to. Granted, he couldn't really complain. His new friend was fun, helpful, and despite being dirty and covered in murky lake-water, very easy to look at.
He was snapped out of his daze when she bought the cigarettes, and the look on the vendor's face when he grabbed the wet money was priceless. So priceless he had to choke down a laugh.
He shook his head when offered a drag. "Nah, thanks. Never was much of a smoker. But if you ever wanted to go out for a few drinks or something, I might take you up on it." Giving a sly grin, he looked down the road.
"There's a coffee shop not too far from here. After that I guess we can shower and meet up later. Or something." He shrugged.
Charlotte shrugged and placed the cigarette back between her lips. "I'm always down for drinks." she responded with a smile. Alcohol was probably her third favorite thing, after boys and clothing. Yes, it sounded superficial and slightly alcoholic, but who cared! "I work at a bar, actually. So you could get free drinks whenever you wanted." she added with a wink.
"Coffee sounds great. I'll let you lead the way." she answered, slowing down slightly so he could walk in front of her. "And maybe if you behave, I'll give you my number." she teased, ruffling the back of his hair with her free hand.

"That's convenient. As if I needed another reason to keep ya around," he teased lightly as he led her down a not quite as crowded side-street.
His eyes glistened with mischief and a chuckle escaped him as she ruffled his hair. "You mean I haven't been?" he asked, winking at her mention of behaving.
Soon, they reached a small coffee shop, and he led her inside. He didn't care about the looks they were receiving about how they looked; he just went straight to the counter, asked for two medium coffees, and slapped the money on the counter.
"I'm not sure if stealing cars constitutes good behavior.." Charlotte pondered, flicking her cigarette butt into the street as she flashed Ty a smile. She stopped and glanced at herself in the reflection of the coffee shop windows. She looked horrible. She smoothed out her ponytail and kept her head down as she entered the coffee shop. Unlike her friend, she cared very much what people thought of her appearance.
While the redhead ordered the coffee, she bent down and looked at the food in the display case. She wasn't hungry, she was just curious as to what they had. "3.50 for a muffin? Are you kidding me?" she shook her head with disgust and stood behind Ty, resting her chin on his right shoulder.
"New York is so expensive." she mumbled into his ear. "Who would pay 3.50 for a muffin?"

"Okay, maybe. But besides that. And getting chased by cops...and..." He facepalmed, sighing a little as he shook his head. "Does the fact that you found it fun at least constitute brownie points?" He gave a goofy grin.
He chuckled as he got their coffee and she leaned on his shoulder. "You would, if you were hungry enough," he whispered back with a small nudge.
Handing her one of the cups of coffee, he turned to lead her out the door. No sense in sitting here and being stared at, right? "Man, you'd think we sprouted an extra head or something, or were conjoined, the way they were staring at us," he commented as they got outside.
"You get one brownie point. You'd get more but I had to deduct for the impromptu swim in the lake." she teased, accepting the coffee with a nod. She took a small sip, ignoring how hot the liquid was. She didn't care if it scalded her; she needed the caffeine in her system. A larger sip was taken as they stepped outside.
"Right? People can be so rude. I should have given them all the finger." she chuckled, walking in the direction that she thought they should be headed. She wasn't really sure what to talk about, so she blew on her coffee. She was tempted to light another cigarette, but decided against it. She reeked of lake water, and didn't need to add smoke to the mix.

"Hey, it was your idea to go across the lake, remember? I was thinking of going for a spin through the woods," he joked, rubbing against her arm. "And I bought you coffee. If that ain't worth nothin, then..." He stuck his tongue out before sipping his own cup of coffee. God, yes that was good. Sweet caffeine makes everything better.
"Yeah...That makes two of us," he answered. "So, how long ya been in New York?" he asked finally, his native Georgia accent bleeding through when he said that, oddly enough.
"The cops would have kept following us!" she retorted, returning the arm rub. "And I'm very grateful for the coffee. I owe you one." Charlotte linked her free arm with his, and continued walking down the street.
"Hmm..about four years? I moved here during my senior year of high school. " she stated, picking up on his slight accent. God, she loved a man with a Southern accent. "How about you?" she asked before taking another sip of her coffee. It had cooled slightly, and was the perfect temperature now.
"I might have to have you show me around. I still haven't seen much of the city." she added, giving herself another excuse to see Ty again.

"Okay, okay. You got me," Ty replied, holding his hands up in surrender, then found her arm linked in his after he'd dropped them. "I've been here about seven years. Moved here when I was fourteen. My great uncle had died, and I lived with my aunt in Georgia. My uncle lived here, and when he passed, she got a job and we moved to the city. I went through an urban exploration phase, which...honestly never really died, so I can say I know my way around."
Glancing over, he smiled softly. "I'd love to show ya around. Legally, of course." He winked.
"At least you got to come here with family.." she mumbled. She hated thinking about the circumstances that she had come to the city under. She sighed, and figured it'd be best to switch to a lighter topic. "What's Georgia like? I haven't been any state lower than Pennsylvania." she frowned. She had wanted to explore the world when she was a kid, and here she was. 22, and had only been to three states.
"And oh no, you can throw some illegal stuff in there. I don't mind." Charlotte mused, flashing him a smile. She wasn't really one for breaking the law, but what she had experienced today was fun, and she wanted to dabble in it some more.

Ty nodded. "Yeah, though it's just me and my sis now." He sighed lightly, with a smile. "Small town, really pretty. Hot as hell in the summer though. From what I remember, anyway.."
Ty chuckled at her mention of illegal stuff. "Heh, I'm corrupting you already. Not that I can complain. Guess we'll just have to wait and see." he winked, throwing his now empty coffee cup in a nearby trash can as they passed it, arm in arm. "So...now what?"
As bad as the boy needed to shower, he really didn't wanna leave yet...
"I couldn't imagine hot summers. I'm used to summers being cool." she responded, tossing her half-empty cup into the trash. She had enough caffeine in her system. Anymore and she'd be giddy and bouncing off the walls. Which was not cute.
Charlotte paused at a street corner and pursed her lips. "Well, my apartment is that way." she stated, nodding her head behind her. "I guess we could do shower and then meet for drinks? The bar is closed today, but I have the keys, so." she added with a wink. It wouldn't be the first time she's opened the bar on a day she wasn't supposed to. But her boss didn't really mind. As long as she kept bringing in customers and making money, he could care less.

Ty chuckled lightly, nodding his head. "Yeah. I still hate the cold, but hey, you get used to weather." He listened, then gave another not. "Alright, I'm at Sanctuary," he replied. "So I'll meet you back here in I don't know maybe a few hours?"
While still hooked in her arm, he gave her a quick hug, then went on his way. Back at Sanctuary, he took a long shower, then got dressed in a purple shirt with a city made of speakers on it, some black jeans, and usual--albeit now wet--sneakers. Oh well, at least his socks were clean...
Regardless, a few hours later, the kid had his hair brushed, and was waiting for Charlotte where he said they could meet up.
Charlotte made it back to her apartment eventually, opting for the longer route home as not to risk running into anyone she knew. She was still slightly wet when she peeled off her clothes and slipped into a bubble bath. She scrubbed her skin several times, as she said she would, until she felt exceptionally clean. Even if that meant her skin was a bright red and extremely sensitive. Oh the sacrifices one had to make.
She left her hair in a ponytail, and opted to wear a pink tank-top with a clean pair of denim shorts. She spritzed a small amount of cinnamon-smelling perfume onto her neck, and headed out. It took her longer than expected to meet Ty, as she got turned around a few times. She tiptoed behind the redhead and poked his sides, a smile on her face. "Hello!"
She linked her arm with his like they had earlier, and began leading him in the direction of the bar.
