The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ty laughed; it was genuine, but it was weak, tired. Suddenly, he was thankful he left his phone back at Sanctuary. Because it would have been ruined by now. Pushing himself over to a tree, he leaned against it, half-sitting, half lying down.
"Heh, I didn't have any of this in mind. Not you, not the speeding, not being chased, and definitely not this. But...I can't complain. I needed a rush. Something to keep my mind off of things." Even if he couldn't remember them completely.
His face suddenly changed, remembering the girl from the park the other day. She knew him, but he didn't remember her. She was cold...bitter...it hurt him, but...did he want to remember?
"Well I'm glad I could be a distraction." She was extremely tired, and every muscle ached. With what little energy she had left, she allowed herself to lean sideways and rested her head on Ty's shoulder. She closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh.
"I could so use a nap right now." she mumbled. He was kind of bony. But then again, it was a shoulder. She adjusted her head so she could look up at him, and her eyes fluttered open. Charlotte saw the change on his face, and her mouth pulled down into a frown.

Ty nodded, leaning against her a little. His mind was troubled; his memories like a thick fog over a storming sea. "It's...complicated. But I thank you for being there for me. Even if you did hop into the car I was trying to steal, then sank it." He laughed, but it was mostly forced. "That was fun as hell."
He sighed. "The thing is I can't really remember...I ran into an ex the other day, or so she claimed. I didn't recognize her, but she seemed to know me. She was bitter...angry. Snapped at me when I tried to help. I've been restless. As long as my mind is occupied, I'm fine...but when I stop, or after the action settles..." He sighed.
"Part of me wants to remember, wants to know. But the other just wants to forget entirely..." He leaned his head against hers, closing his eyes.
Charlotte opened her eyes and pursed her lips. "That's weird." She tried to think of other things to say, but this wasn't a conversation one normally had. "And you don't remember her at all?" Maybe she was a bad girlfriend, and that's why he doesn't remember. She laughed quietly and to herself. No, that wasn't funny. This was a serious topic.
The blonde lazily dragged her hand over the grass, plucking blades here and there, flicking them away from her. "Did you have an accident or anything? My grandmother was in a car accident once. For the longest time she didn't know who any of us were." she frowned, remembering how horrible it was. Her grandmother would always get scared and shout at them, saying they weren't family. "But eventually she remembered!" she exclaimed after a few minutes. She sat up and turned to face him, forcing a smile. She was lying through her teeth. Her grandmother still didn't know who they were. Hopefully he bought it.
"You'll remember." she assured him, grabbing his hand and lacing her fingers with his. "I'll help you if I have to."

Ty shook his head. "No, no accident, and no I don't remember. Not at all. And other things I remember just fine...she's just...a blank. Maybe it's for the best. She wasn't exactly nice when she ran into me the other day..."
Ty sighed, shaking his head again. "I don't know that I want to remember. At least...not right now. I mean, ignorance is bliss, right? Sometimes though, I remember that day and it sorta...gets to me."
Picking up a rock, he tossed it into the lake. "Sorry. I know you don't really wanna hear my sobstories, even if they don't make alot of sense."
Charlotte turned her attention back to the grass, this time opting to pull out small handfuls. She was getting antsy without a cigarette, and had to do something to keep her hands occupied. "We all have sob-stories. Don't apologize for something you can't help." she responded. "I'm sure it'll work itself out."
She scooted closer to him and placed her head back on her shoulder. She was hoping she could comfort him in some way, if not emotionally then she could be there physically.
"How long have you know about your little history-touch thing?" she pondered, tapping the top of one of his gloves. She figured it'd be best to change the subject. "And what's the weirdest thing you've seen?"

Ty nodded, then relaxed as he felt her head on his shoulder again. He chuckled at her question, thinking back. "I'd say it's been about...nine months now. I'd experienced it a time or two but thought I was just going insane, then was told I wasn't, and I'm a mutant."
He paused. "I've seen alot of weird stuff. I've seen the history of a stick, growing on a tree. The memories of it growing and seeing people carve their initials into it, or climb on it, or make out under it...I still have them. Like when I touch something, its memories become mine. I touched a necklace once, and discovered I have a sister. I've seen alot of things, really. And I think anything you see by touching something qualifies as weird."
"I'm sure that stick had a great life." she retorted, letting out a small laugh. She couldn't imagine having that power. It had to be very inconvenient to see all the memories of something once you touched it. And then to keep them with you forever? Yeah, she'd pass.
"How old is your sister?" she asked, looking up at him. "And how did you not know you had one!?"
She shook her head in response to his weird comment. "I'm pretty sure any mutant out there could be considered weird. There's far worse powers out there than touching things and seeing stuff."

"Eh, not as great as some of the clothes I've touched on accident," he half-joked; his eyes showing a hint of seriousness mixed in with his laughter.
"About nineteen. My old man was kinda an ass, had a kid in an affair and never told anyone, ditched her and the other woman. Left them on their own and ran back to my Mom, or something like that."
Ty nodded. "Yeah, it can, but I'm still convinced I'm up there somewhere." He blinked, looking around.
"At some point, we're going to have to find a way back...any ideas?"
The redhead thought for a moment, but he was coming up short.
"My sister is about that age." she informed, adding a head nod for extra measure. "He sure has had an eventful life." Charlotte thought to herself as she learned about his dad.
"I'm sorry to hear that." she muttered. She leaned up and pecked his cheek. She didn't really know why, but somehow her mind theorized that a kiss on the cheek would make up for all the bad things that have happened. The blonde quickly stood up and arched her back, stretching her aching muscles. She glanced around, looking for ideas.
"We could always walk? Or you could hotwire another car." The blonde was teasing him..for the most part. She had had her thrill for the day, and she wasn't exactly in the mood for another run in with the cops.

"It's all good. Got what he had coming to him, in the end," Ty answered, blinking at the kiss on the cheek. It made him smile; just a sweet, thoughtful action.
Standing to his own two feet, he stretched as well. "It's quite a little ways, but walking's prolly the best bet. I mean, I'm done with cop chases for today, we're wet, we're slimy, so public transit is a no. Besides, maybe the walk will help dry us out a bit, on top of winding down from all the ruckus."
He nodded, leading in the direction they'd come from. "Soon as I get back, I need a freaking shower..." he muttered.
Just the thought of a shower brought a smile to Charlotte's face. She hadn't felt this gross in..well, ever. She had to widen her stride to keep up with Ty. When she matched his pace, she nudged him with her elbow. "You do need a shower, you reek."
She raised her arms and pulled her hair back into a ponytail. The water had made it frizz, and she preferred not to look like a frizzy mess. "I hope you know where we're going, because I have no clue." she admitted. She had a bad sense of direction to begin with, but with all the excitement of the stolen car and the cops, she had been turned around.
"I need to get cigarettes at some point." she announced, not necessarily to Ty, but just as a mental note.

The smell of nasty lake-water made Ty almost want to gag. "I know, I know...but I'm still cute, right?" he teased, winking as they walked. "Yeah, I know my way around pretty well, so no worries," he comforted.
The kid chuckled at her note, and he looked at her. "And I could use a piping hot cup of coffee..." he murmured. "Maybe some other time we should hang out. Like...the legal, not random way," he noted.
"Yes, you're still cute." she assured, nudging him again. "We could go get a cup of coffee now, if you wanted. Unless you'd rather be clean first." she added. She was already planning a giant bubble bath when she made it home. With lots of candles. And scalding hot water.
"I feel like I'm going to have to scrub a layer of skin off to feel clean." she muttered. "Who let the lake get that gross anyways?" She shot a dark look over her shoulder towards the lake, as if she could offend it.
"And I'd like that. Something a lot more low-key." she chuckled, coming to a halt at a street corner. She looked left, and then right, and then raised an eyebrow at Ty. Which way did they have to go now?

"My coffee, your cigarettes, we're both happy?" he replied with a grin. "Heh, yeah I feel the same way. Like I should burn my clothes and all when I get done. I don't know, but it's that kinda thing that makes me not wanna swim. No offense."
He chuckled, turning right, and soon the city he was so familiar with came into full view. "Hey, the exciting stuff is fun, but sometimes I need to just...slow down. Enjoy life in the slow lane for once." He gave a nod, brushing his soaked hair from his face.
